EIN Exclusive - Greg Page, the TCB Band & Mick Gerace special Sydney concert: Greg Page and the TCB Band, fresh from their tour of New South Wales, will join up with Mick Gerace for a special one-off event in Sydney, Australia. This exciting news comes after weeks of speculation as to where Greg Page & the TCB Band (James Burton & Glen D Hardin) would be presenting their "Taking Care Of Country" show in Sydney. The idea was to create a unique event featuring Greg Page presenting songs from his new CD but also adding the excitement of Mick Gerace performing Elvis' songs as only he knows how. Lucky Sydney will be getting the best of both worlds. The concert, one show only, will be at The Hills Centre for Performing Arts on April 2nd. EIN will be interviewing both Greg Page & Mick Gerace tomorrow to help fill in all the exciting details. (News, Source: Mick Gerace)

Computer ID tags mooted to "track" Elvis fans!: Now that a grade school in California requires students to wear radio frequency identification badges that can track their every move, one Elvis fan has suggested all Elvis fans wear a similar device. Ella Marie Franks believes the technology could be used to (somehow) "maximise sales of Elvis product and bring the Elvis message to the masses"! Meanwhile, in the real world, "some parents are outraged, fearing the school badges will take away their children's privacy. The badges introduced at Brittan Elementary School on 18 January rely on the same radio frequency and scanner technology that companies use to track livestock and product inventory. Similar devices have recently been used to monitor youngsters in some parts of Japan". (News/Odd Spot, Source: Email - Ella Marie Franks)

Most celebrity autographs sold are fake!: If you're interested in buying an Elvis autograph we recommend you read this article first. (Spotlight/News, Source: Yahoo News)

Love, Elvis - independent review: And just in time for Valentine's Day! I'm not going to insist that Elvis's love songs are better than any of his others (blues rockin' greats like All Shook Up, Jailhouse Rock, Hound Dog etc.), which of course many of them are, but I will say that they are the best representation of the caricaturized cultural icon Elvis was to become: overromanced sexualizer and seducer as well as overripened cheesebag. S'all good. Love, Elvis compiles a number of the best, though by no means all, of Elvis's love songs and ballads, titles like Can't Help Falling in Love; Love Me Tender; I Want You, I Need You, I Love You and Surrender among them, though the album is weighted dangerously toward the front - by the time you get to some of the second-rate songs at album's end, the ardour's been lost. (CD Review, Source: Jamie O'Meara, hour.ca)

Elvis not the only major artist to miss out at the Grammys: Elvis has only received three Grammy awards during his lifetime and all three were for his gospel recordings not his seminal rock & roll catalog. It turns out the Grammy Awards has a long history of ignoring major artists when it comes to handing out its awards. (Spotlight/Article, Source: Daily Trojan Online)

Harrodsburg resident idolizes, impersonates Elvis: Jason Paul Sester was only about a year old when The King himself, Elvis Presley, died in 1977. But that hasn't kept the Harrodsburg resident from idolizing this legend from a previous era. (Almost Elvis, Source: The Advocate-Messenger)

Elvis Presley Styrofoam Cup For Sale: A world-famous Styrofoam cup once used by Elvis Presley is being sold by its owner Wade Jones for $10,000 on the site eBay… but only if Paul McCartney bids. He also claims that he will give all the proceeds to Heather McCartney’s favourite charity ‘No More Landmines’. Many have tried to buy the cup from Jones in the past, but he had refused all of the offers. The cup manufacturer Dart Container has also allegedly put in a bid. Mr Jones also takes it on tour with him around the US to raise money for various charities. Wade Jones took the cup from an Elvis concert in Charlotte in February 1977, six months before the legendary singer died. Wade has since built up a cult status for the relic. Willie always had Elvis on his mind: Jailhouse Rock was all very well at No 1 - but Willie Nelson still reckons that Always on My Mind was the best song Elvis ever crooned. Especially as Willie, who is coming to Dublin in the spring, wrote the lyrics to the love ballad. "People are always telling me how well I sing Always on My Mind," declared Willie today. "But the plain truth is, it was always meant for Elvis. I only sang it myself as an afterthought and now I'm not allowed off a stage without performing it. "I sat down one afternoon with a clear sound of the Presley voice in my head and wrote that song. Mind you, I had a beautiful woman in my eye when I was putting the words down, but I'm not saying who she was. "The point is, this was always an Elvis special and didn't he do so well with it? Come on ? Elvis with that ballad stuck with you for a long while no matter how good I do it." EIN note: Despite what this report says, Always On My Mind was actually wriiten by Carson, Jones & Christopher. Many thanks to Eileen for drawing our attention to this. Elvis sighting in South Bend: Ladies and gentlemen ... Elvis may have left the building, but his collectibles remain behind and will be appearing live ... or at least as live as a bunch of inanimate objects can be ... next weekend in South Bend. The private collections of Hoosier Presley fans is sought for inclusion in an exhibit of Elvis Presley memorabilia which opens on Feb. 11 at the Northern Indiana Center for History, 808 W. Washington St. If local Elvis buffs would like to loan that stash of kingly treasures -- posters, photos, rare records, sweat-stained scarves, tour programs, Vegas menus, etc. -- collecting dust in boxes, the Center of History is eager to include them. The King's collectibles will be on display through May 6 at the center, in conjunction with "Processing Elvis," a traveling exhibit chronicling the day Presley was inducted into the U.S. Army. "Processing Elvis" showcases a unique photo essay taken by William Leaptrott, who had been a teenage classmate of Elvis at L.C. Humes High School in Memphis. It also explores an important passage in Presley's transformation from "rebel rocker" to "boy next door," which elevated Elvis above all the other rockers of his day into an international pop icon. (Elvis geek trivia note: the Dixie-like character in the short-lived 1990s Elvis TV series was named Mattie Walker. She was played by Kelli Williams who later starred in The Practice opposite Camryn Manheim, who portrays Gladys Presley in this miniseries.) Westley's credits include Traffic: The Miniseries, Levity and Hysteria: The Def Leppard Story. Elvis airs May 8th and 11th on CBS. (News, Source: IGN.com)

Elvis & U2: As U2 announced their massive concert plan for Dublin Ireland, and their planned World Tour starting in San Diego California, Bono’s idol Elvis Presley was in the news big-time. Bono may have to add another verse to his controversial Elvis poem. The British Broadcasting Company better known as the Beeb is still recoiling from a barrage of e-mail initiated by it’s disgraceful, and now notorious insult to Elvis Presley fans on the, Top of the Pops television show, Friday the 21st January 2005. International Media coverage of the BBC/Elvis story, including press releases from as far apart as India, Australia, New Zealand, New York, and the UK, is drawing a lot of attention on Google.com Elvis news. Commerce orientated bloomberg.com knows Elvis Presley means Business. In a recent article on it’s web-pages by journalist, Mathew Lynn, we are informed Elvis is, "Still King! What Elvis Can Teach Us About Brands?", an example of how the Elvis SALE never ends. Now the BBC and the rest of the International Media know, Elvis fans mean business too! (News, Source: Google)
