'Dear Ole Humes - The Humes High Class of 1953' book published: EIN has received this delightful self-published book recalling stories and comments from Elvis' friends and school colleagues. Although this has been locally printed, mainly for Humes classmates, the 160-page book is well worth investigating for people interested in Elvis' very early years. As the editor/author Rose Howell - Klimek notes in the inscription,"The idea of doing a book about the Humes Class of 1953 came to me when I was taking a creative writing class at the University of Memphis and became a goal after I took a statistics class at the University of Tennessee. Although our class is known for having Elvis as a member, it actually was full of special people. During the 50th Class Reunion in October 2003, we had fun talking about the good old days. But, we also realized that out of a class of about 200, more than 50 members were deceased and many more couldn't be located. It became apparent eye needed to rite down our memories soon, or they would be lost forever." Of course while many students had little to do with Elvis a surprising number tell some wonderful tales. While they are all "small" high-school stories it is their innocence and honesty that makes them so delightful. For instance from classmate Ann Billie Banks, - "I thought of when the English class read MacBeth. Miss Jennie Allensworth assigned the part of Macbeth to Elvis Presley, who promptly said, "Aw, Miss Jenny, you know I can't read." Of course,

"Elvis, Sherlock & Me" (Book Review): Michael Hoey's account of growing up, working in, and meeting the stars of Hollywood is a wonderfully rich memoir and history of the film business covering the decades from the 1940’s to the present. Hoey deftly weaves among illuminating anecdotes about the industry and at times revealing profiles of some of its biggest stars including Elvis (Hoey wrote the screenplay for six of Elvis' films). There are two chapters about Elvis including some great anecdotes and interesting insights! Throughout his memoir, Hoey maintains a colorful picture of a vibrant, multi-layered “Tinseltown” from its golden years to the, in its own way, equally fascinating culture of contemporary filmmaking. Two new Elvis fan magazines out this month: Elvis Unlimited's Christmas issue ElvisNews #101 from Denmark features news, reviews plus interviews with Elvis security staff Dick Grob and Sam Thompson. From France 'Elvis My Happiness' fan club magazine #62 is out with a great cover photo. Printed in French, the magazine includes reviews, news plus new interviews with the TCB Band from their 2007 European tour. (News, Source: Various)

M.R.S 'Elvis New York Sessions' Album at the centre of UK Copyright Row: According to Billboard, U.K. distributor Cargo Records has pulled the plug on an Elvis Presley release after Sony BMG Music Entertainment in the U.K. sent out a letter threatening legal action. In one of the clearest signs to-date of Sony BMG's tough policy of enforcing the copyright of its vintage Presley works -- even though some sound recordings have become part of the public domain -- the music major put pressure on Cargo to withdraw the release, "New York: RCA Studio 1: The Complete Sessions." Sony BMG disputed that a handful of outtakes on the album, which was released by Memphis Recording Service, were public domain. Cargo now won't touch the Memphis release, and the CD has no support from traditional retail outlets. An executive with the distributor, who declined to be identified, described the Sony BMG letter as a "warning" of further action to come. "To save us the risk of legal action, we decided we wouldn't distribute the item,"

'Rock Back The Clock' new CD update: The "Straight Arrow" label will release a 2CD-set at the end of this year titled "ROCK BACK THE CLOCK". It will be a special release of Elvis' infamous first New Year's Eve show in Pontiac, Michigan. The producers are aware that this concert was previously issued from another source, but in the case of this release they were able to obtain an ORIGINAL TAPE recorded by the same person that taped the College Park, MD, 27.09.1974 using the same recorder and microphone. That concert has been released on Straight Arrow's 2006 CD "CHAOS IN COLLEGE PARK". The main reason for this new and ultimate Pontiac '75 release is that the sound quality is excellent for an off-line recording. Since no soundboard recording of this show exists, only audience taped documentation of this historic event is available. Over the last 15 years, three independent audience recordings were collected and on each source there was a major problem: excessive echo caused by the large stadium space. This new source is very clear and most importantly, almost echo-free because the person with recorder was sitting very close to the sound system.

'Elvis Presley - From His Roots' DVD CD release: A 3CD boxset along with an additional DVD entitled "Elvis Presley - Rock And Roll Royalty" is to be released December 7, 2007. Called 'Elvis Presley - From His Roots' this compilation was originally released in 2004 as a BMG 3CD Boxset. New live Orion CD released: A new live recording of Jimmy Ellis aka "Orion" has been released by Dradco Records. Live At The Pigeon Forge Grand Hotel contains a professionally recorded concert from July 5th 1986 with one of the best Elvis-soundalikes ever. Many will probably remember him as the masked singer that created headlines in the late seventies / early eighties when he recorded for Sun Records. Jimmy performs a great set of songs from his own career and also covers from famous country artists and of course some Elvis songs. The CD comes with an 8 page full colour booklet with many rare and unreleased photos of Jimmy, memorabilia and an informative text about his career during this period. M.R.S 'My Baby Left Me' to Enter into Guinness Book of World Records: Joseph Pirzada received a call today informing him that the UK M.R.S CD Single release of ‘My Baby Left Me’ released in August 2007 only through HMV Stores is to enter into the 2009 Edition of the Guinness Book of World Records. This is on the basis that it took nearly 52 years from the time it was recorded to be a hit. This is the longest time it has taken any recorded song to become a chart hit. 'A Wild Weekend in Huntsville! - Volume Two' new CD: The Madison label will release their latest CD featuring the June 1, 1975 Huntsville afternoon show soundboard recording in January 2008. From their press release: The previous matinee performance in Huntsville was one of the best from this tour, and this one is as good if not better. The sound quality is also superior to the first volume with a fresh, dynamic, lively rocking sound. This show was possibly the longest recording from this May/June '75 tour, none of the concerts were recorded in their entirety. They started to record over one minute before the start of 'I Got A Woman/Amen' and ends with the very last note of 'Can't Help Falling In Love'. The show was completed for your listening pleasure. There were two songs previously released from this June 1, 1975 AS performance, and for the very first time the complete performance will be available on CD.

Elvis Matters fan-club magazine Volume 19 out now:  This 68 page full-colour edition printed in Dutch contains news, reviews and articles on the club's US trip, the European Tour of the TCB Band, Joe Esposito, Elvis jumpsuits and more. The magazine also features interviews with Richard Moreno who did security for Elvis in the Hilton and Ron Feuer who played the keyboard for Elvis at that and other venues. "High Voltage - Birmingham '76 Revisited"- An audio sensation: As announced last month, Elvis’ possibly best concert in 1976 from Birmingham December 29th is about to be released from soundboard - and for the first time in Stereo! This is an upgrade from an old import favorite ‘Burning In Birmingham’. Many hardcore fans however have been recently disappointed by other re-issues with so-called ‘audio upgrades’ and have told us that they had just wasted their money. So EIN called AUDIONICS to see if they can justify their new claims – and we were very impressed with what we heard. With a chance to compare the new ‘High Voltage 76’ with our old beloved ‘Burning In Birmingham’ playing side-by-side, it’s like chalk and cheese. It sounds much better than the audio improvements on both re-releases ‘Shaking Up The Great Lakes’ and ‘One Night Only’. For a start it is pretty impressive stereo, which is not easy to do with a binaural tape. No wonder they feature the two original tracks at the end for comparison! Audionics have achieved this with the best possible audio engineering hardware and software - this is no "home made job"! (You know who you are, ‘Legendary Performers Volumes 100’ etc"). Over 150 studio hours have been spent on this re-master, whereas the old bootlegs would often take only 3 hours of studio time. Audionics also promise that they are cleaning up even the smallest glitches, clicks and audio dropouts! Although I loved the original ‘Burning In Birmingham’ it did have a lot of background audio hiss and the sound spectrum was pretty flat and dead, especially when compared with Elvis’ dynamic performance.

New MRS release to outdo “Inside Graceland”: After a series of stunning releases, the MRS group is hard at work on its latest project, “Elvis’ Graceland – The Way It Was”. 

This time it is a high quality, coffee table hardcover book showcasing images of Elvis’ beloved mansion, Graceland.  EIN is told that the book will contain hundreds of pages and many hundreds of rare and/or previously unpublished photographs all from original negatives and transparencies, including visuals of not only the mansion, but Elvis, Linda Thompson, Elvis’ cars, the Trophy Room, even the bedroom.....and a lot more.

New photo book from Japan: The Japanese music critic and journalist Yoshiji Kizaki has joined forces with the Japanese Elvis fanclub. The result is a 100 page picture book with over 200 black-and-white photos and 6 color shots, focussing on the press conference of November 20th at the Hilton Hawaiian Village, and the three shows in Honolulu on the 17th and 18th of November – the so called “pre rehearsal shows”. "Elvis: Viva Las Vegas" ABC TV soundtrack release: This is the tracklist and cover art for the ABC "Elvis: Viva Las Vegas" soundtrack CD. The ABC TV special is nominated for an Emmy Award and also a Golden Globe in the category "Best Editing For A TV Documentary". The CD features six Elvis originals and seven tracks by other artists. The 2007 UK Single Charts: Next week the 2007 'Elvis The King' singles campaign ends with the final re-release 'Burning Love'. This week the penultimate release 'An American Trilogy' entered the UK singles chart at number 12, making it the highest new entry for the week. Unfortunately none of the 2007 singles have managed to reach the top ten. The highest entry being 'Suspicious Minds', released on the 30th anniversary of Elvis' death getting to chart position #11. Somewhat of interest is that 'Viva Las Vegas' actually charted higher in 2007 making # 15 when it only reached number 17 back in 1964.  English websites suspect that the lower chart positions are due to a large number of fans buying the complete box-set, released this month, rather than purchasing each single individually. EIN however believes that the inclusion of downloads into the British charts (the teenage preferred way of buying music) better reflects the modern era but at the same time also stops the chart impact that was a feature of the of "collectability" effect of the 2005 singles.    UK chart positions of the 2007 singles. 'She Is The King: Comeback' new CD released: Female ETA 'She Is The King' brand new CD released on iTunes and in shops now. 'It's Now Or Never' Robert Gordon/Chris Spedding CD review: Robert Gordon doing Elvis Presley sounds like a natural. People have been asking for it since Robert's Private Stock days, but Robert was always afraid of being tagged another "impersonator". Over the years, he has sporadically done Elvis covers, and they served as tantalising glimpses of what we could expect from a Robert Gordon "Elvis" album. 'From Jailhouse To Graceland - The Complete 1957 Recordings': new 2008 CD: A new CD with a 14 Jan 2008 release date from the Xtra music label. 2007 saw a plethora of Elvis 1956 "public domain" CDs swamping the market. Can we expect 2008 to bring us the same number of 1957 re-releases? The publicity states "Original recording remastered" but what is their source material as they certainly don't have the studio Master tapes. If it is BMG's recent Kevan Budd re-issues (ie the 'Loving You' FTD) then there could be troubles ahead as the UK public domain issue heads into legal murkiness. The laugh is of course that their CD is NOT by any means "The Complete 1957 Recordings" as the Christmas Album songs are missing along with tracks like 'Is It So Strange', 'One Night' etc plus 'How Do You Think I Feel?' and 'Hows The World Treating You?' were 1956 songs. It's pathetic exploitation - Where's The Colonel?!  - (Go here for complete list of 2007 Elvis CD releases)

HIGH VOLTAGE - Birmingham '76 Revisited: As Recorded live from mixing desk in Birmingham, Alabama, Jefferson Coliseum, on December 29, 1976. The two leading import labels have now joined forces, and are proud to present the first results of this very special partnership, a strictly limited edition release of the classic December 29th , 1976 concert in Birmingham, Alabama, under the title "High Voltage - Birmingham '76 Revisited". Some of you may recall that this concert was originally released in mono on “Burning In Birmingham” back in ’98, and that it quickly became a firm favorite. In fact, many fans preferred this show over the legendary Pittsburgh concert from two nights later, as Elvis’ performance in Birmingham was far more relaxed and authoritive, and particularly Elvis’ intense reading of “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” was a great surprise to many.

For this reissue, we worked directly from the first generation DAT, and we were able to make significant audio improvements. After a long and painstaking process of repairing and enhancing the original binaural recording, we were able to mix it down to genuine stereo, thus ensuring a much more satisfying listening experience. Originally, the left channel consisted of all the vocals and nearly all of the instruments, while the right channel featured the (isolated) keyboards. To give you an idea of how the tape originally sounded in binaural, we added two bonustracks “as recorded”.

This release is neatly packaged in a 16-page full color booklet with ultra-cool design, relevant liner notes and a collection of stunning pix taken during Birmingham show.

'Audionics / 2001' hope that this special joint-production will satisfy all those fans who have been clamouring for a reissue of this much sought-after title. A great deal of care and thought went into this release, and we promise you that the improved sound will blow you away. In a time where you constantly see bugball labels ripping off classic titles with cheesy equalizer-jobs, it’s becoming harder to do quality releases, but we will continue as long as you want us to. The original 2001 people want to thank everybody for their loyalty, and add that, “It ain’t over until the fat lady sings!”. And with this little gem of a CD, she finally has a good reason to sing with joy. This CD is scheduled for late December release.

Status of DVD release of "Elvis On Tour": Recently Elvis Australia asked EPE for comment on a possible DVD release of the only outstanding Elvis film yet to be so released. EPE's Todd Morgan replied: "Elvis: That's the Way It Is, Special Edition was very successful. There's no truth to any rumor to the contrary. There's also no truth to the rumor that Warner Brothers has cancelled their plans for the release of Elvis on Tour on DVD. We should see that come along from them in a couple of years or so. Until Warner Brothers is ready to share more details publicly, we aren't at liberty to say anything more regarding what they have let EPE know about their plans so far.

We have suggested to Warner Brothers on several occasions the possibility of their someday licensing to EPE the Elvis, That's the Way It Is and Elvis on Tour footage for us to produce special additional DVD releases or partnering with us on such special releases as Andrew Solt did with us on last year's Elvis/Sullivan DVD set. Nothing like that is actually in the works with Warner and EPE at this time, but it remains open for consideration in our ongoing and very good relationship with Warner Brothers. In whatever scenario it might happen, we just hope there will be special additional DVD releases of material from the two Elvis MGM concert films."

EIN Comment: Having spoken with officials in Warner Bros (WB) at the time of the original release (2001) of Elvis That's The Way It Is (SE) (ETTWI) we were informed sales were below expectations. This should be considered in the context of the money invested by WB in a Special Edition release. In 2007 (and with ongoing reissue of the DVD) the release should now be in profit.

Had ETTWI sold more than respectably on original release, logically you would expect the organisation to, by now, have also released Elvis On Tour.

New book - Inside Graceland: A special addition to the “Inside” series from Elvis Unlimited (EU) will be a book titled Inside Graceland. It will be released in early December 2007. EU says: Inside Graceland is the book that every Elvis fan has been waiting for. Inside Graceland bring you on a pictorial journey back to the time when Elvis Presley - the biggest entertainer in the history of popular music lived in the mansion.

What you can find on the 112 pages of never before seen pictures is that the foyer, the living room, the dining room and even the jungle room has changed a lot since Elvis died. What you will see here for the fist time in print is the red Ludwig XV style rooms that were installed in 1974.

More than half of the pictures were shot in 1975. Elvis’ girlfriend from 1972-75 Linda Thompson takes the photographer on a tour through the house. The rest of the pictures were shot after August 1977, with several of them right after Elvis died and around the time of the opening of Graceland.

The pictures in the book are from the collection of the mega Elvis collector Sherif Hanna. The well informative text in the book has been written by Megan Murphy. You will also find quotes from well know persons like Linda Thompson, Sandi Miller,  Larry Strickland and others.

Apart from the unique pictures the book is also filled with quotes from the people who were there in the 1970’s.

First of all, as everyone can see, this may be the most attractive promotional cd package that Sony/ BMG China has released! Well, actually it's not out yet but will be in early December. It is interesting because, since the Chinese don't celebrate Christmas but do enjoy gospel songs, they have titled this a CHRISTMAS SPECIAL! Very odd but who cares as it's a REAL BEAUTY! Rumors are that there are some alternate takes and outtakes on this although it is not known how many and if they have already been issued.

Elvis Straight Up! series discontinued: The Elvis Straight Up! series has been officially discontinued. The topics reserved for Elvis Straight Up! will from this point on be incorporated into the Celebrate Elvis series.

Zero Tolerance For (Public Domain) Bootlegs: Ernst Jorgenson, driving force behind the ‘Follow That Dream’ releases, leaves no doubt about zero tolerance for bootlegs. In the latest FTD newsletter to FTD sellers he writes:

"Unfortunately Sony BMG’s legal department has informed us about several of you selling illegal records, and apparently there is more to come. As the guilty ones know, it’s both unpleasant and expensive to be caught, and for the future there will be a ”no tolerance” policy. Any customer getting in trouble with the authorities on this issue will automatically be dropped by FTD.

One of the key reasons for the development of FTD was to give the fan clubs legal product to sell in order to substitute the sales of bootlegs that escalated in the nineties. Not only are these illegal activities potentially hurtful to your business, but they also put the whole future of FTD in jeopardy.

We have heard many absurd excuses over the years for selling product that wasn’t legal (Czech republic releases is just one example), but all of you are experienced Elvis dealers, and it is your responsibility to know if the product you are selling is legal or not. As some will know, the so-called P.D. releases in many instances are not P.D. at all. Original masters recorded AND released more than 50 years ago are public domain (free for all), but masters and outtakes released within the 50-year period are not automatically P.D. Selling illegal P.D. recordings is exactly the same as selling bootlegs. Don’t let yourself down!!" (News, Source: Follow That Dream /Elvis News)

EIN Comment: The loss of royalties due to bootleg product is a serious issue. However, as is being mentioned on the various Elvis messageboards, there is apparently an element of hypocrisy in the FTD statement.

Remix versions of Baby Let's Play House geared to youth market!: As mixed views of the latest Baby Let's Play House remixes are discussed on the various Elvis messageboards, EIN congratulates the remixers who have produced pulsating, bass infused mixes which should appeal to many in the youth market. In particular, EIN liked the remix by Glen Vincent.

However, we'll leave the last words to one of the iconic identities of the Elvis world, Tallhair2 (aka Ger Rijff), who posted this message on the FECC board:

'Is Elvis or Rock n Roll sacred? Listen to what Sam and the boys did to Monroes Blue Moon Of Kentucky, way back in 54?! The weeping vocals and tiny mandolin heard on the original were blasted away by electric guitar and gutso vocals. Or the version of Blue Moon, from Broadway musical to... yes, to what exactly? It was so different! I felt good when at a school party, years ago, I watched my son and other 8 year olds jumping up and down to ALLC in the class room! And I hope, with Play house, kids once again will party to this remix, and if some will afterwards remember the singer was one Elvis Presley, than thats 2 bonus points. My son is 13 now. Elvis is never discussed in class.... He's not part of their lives. Of course not! Sinatra wasnt part of mine when I discovered Elvis in 57...! 'The Essential Elvis Presley‘ vs ‘The King’: Two very similar double CD Elvis ‘Greatest Hits’ compiles were released by BMG in the first half of 2007. Continuous release of these same old compiles is exactly why The Beatles & Garth Brooks garner so many recognised "RIAA Gold Sales" and dominate Elvis in the gold sales statistics - when of course Elvis in absolute total must have sold more. EIN wonders if everyone in BMG/SONY marketing is related to Colonel Parker as they still continue to flog the same old horse. If ever there was a prima-facie case of BMG/RCA pumping out too much of the similar Elvis product, then the releasing of ‘The Essential Elvis Presley’ (40 Greatest tracks) within a few months of their 30th Anniversary "key" marketing release ‘The King’ (52 Greatest hits) must be exhibit number One. EIN's Piers Beagley investigates. 'The Essential Elvis Presley': CD review: Released by BMG/SONY at the start of 2007 in order to add Elvis to Sony's "Essential" artist series. With the overall packaging, sleeve notes, good photos and the "a little different" track selection 'The Essential Elvis Presley' can be rated as a fine companion to their series. The audio sparkles and the CDs present a good, if brief, look at Elvis’ musical legacy. However as always there is more to consider and wonder about when it comes to marketing Elvis' greatest hits. Quality import labels unite to release reissues: The quality import labels Audionics, 2001 and Fort Baxter announced to join forces to produce several limited edition re-issues from their classic bootleg catalogue. These upgraded re-issues will be remastered with a new additional booklets. This way fans won't have to buy rip-off re-issues. The CDs will be released under the coproduction labels "Audionics / 2001" and "Audionics / Baxter".

Re-issue of Alan Fortas book - 'Elvis From Memphis to Hollywood': Finally, Alan Fortas' book with noted Elvis author, Alanna Nash, will republished by Arum Press in June2008. Book Description: When in June 1968, clad in black leather, a nervous Elvis Presley made his television "Comeback Special", Alan Fortas was one of the five friends asked to be on stage with him. Fortas ultimately spent nearly twelve years working for Elvis, having been asked to join his fraternity of bodyguards and close buddies that came to be known as "The Memphis Mafia" back in 1958. He lived, travelled and played hard with Elvis during that time, watching Elvis become increasingly disillusioned with the endless stream of movies he was forced to act in, saw him become increasingly reliant on drugs, and witnessed Elvis's colourful sex life.

The only other memoir of Elvis that can offer such genuine inside knowledge and intimacy is Elvis and the Memphis Mafia, by three other members of his bodyguard fraternity, which Uncut magazine acclaimed as "the best Elvis book written to date", and which Aurum has already re-published and seen reprint four times.

Now it re-issues Alan Fortas' book, which has been out of print for over ten years. No plans for official DVD release of "Elvis On Tour": Despite all the rumors that are flying around on the internet and specialized Elvis sites, there are no plans for a DVD-release of the 1972 rocumentary “Elvis On Tour”. EPE’s spokesman Todd Morgan has just clearly given their view on the matter. Elvis Presley Enterprises is willing to work together with Turner/Warner, but there’s no project in the pipeline for now. Therefore, and for the time being, “On Tour” will only be available on homevideo, not on DVD – let alone a DVD with a bonus disc and unreleased footage. (News, Source: Elvis Matters)

"Rock Back The Clock" says Straight Arrow: The "Straight Arrow" label will release a CD at the end of this year titled "ROCK BACK THE CLOCK" (SA 2007-8-02). It will be a special release of Elvis’ infamous first New Year's Eve show in Pontiac, Michigan.

The producers are aware that this concert was previously released from another source but in the case of this release, they were able to obtain an ORIGINAL TAPE recorded by the same person that taped the College Park, MD, 27.09.1974 using the same recorder and microphone. That concert has been released on Straight Arrow's 2006 CD "CHAOS IN COLLEGE PARK".

The main reason for this new and ultimate Pontiac '75 release is that the sound quality is excellent for an off-line recording. Since no soundboard recording of this show exists, only audience taped documentation of this historic event is available. Over the last 15 years, three independent audience recordings were collected and on each source there was a major problem: excessive echo caused by the large stadium space. This new source is very clear and most importantly, almost echo-free because the person with recorder was sitting very close to the sound system.

The content of the show is well known, with the playlist based on Elvis' previous Las Vegas engagement. Among the Pontiac highlights are powerful performances of "Trying To Get To You", "One Night" and "Heartbreak Hotel" and also the ballads "You Gave Me A Mountain" and "And I Love You So", which were sung with passion. Finally, a thundering performance of "How Great Thou Art" brought the stadium down. The one and only real drawback is an unrehearsed "My Way"; Elvis had problems with the lyrics and he paused the song in the middle for a few seconds.

We live in the days when almost every obscure CD label is hyping that their product was "taken directly from the original tape"…is, what else - "professionally remastered" and of course – with "fantastic results". Every new CD seems to contain some "deluxe 16-page full color booklet" with many "unpublished photos" in a "very professional layout". The “Straight Arrow” label does not want to exaggerate. If you have any of the previous “Straight Arrow” CD releases, then you know what to expect in design and sound quality.

This new CD will contain a 20 page booklet with approx. 60 photos. Some of them are unpublished, some not, but they all were carefully hand-picked from the almost 150 available shots to give the listener a visual overview of The Event. You will see Elvis before and after the show as well as in both jumpsuits on stage. An unusual photo of the Silverdome stage before the concert is included as well as the review from the local newspaper, original ticket stub and show poster. To make the release even more authentic, sleeve notes were written by a fan that was so happy to be there... The 2 CD set comes in a special slipcase for protecting the disc from scratches. It's not the regular release like in the US and Europe with the live songs, but a "Dolby Digital Compact Disc". "Big Boss in Trouble" CD: The new import label EPB76 records announce its first release entitled titled "Big Boss In Trouble". This release features Elvis June 6, 1976 show as recorded from the audience in Atlanta. The CD is due for release early November and runs for 80 minutes. From the press release: This release is taken directly from original master tape and professional remastered with a great audio-quality. Its a full length show , the best of the June tour. It's a very good performance with Elvis in good mood and strong voice, the highlights of the concert are surely the rare last live version of “Shake A Hand” and an outstanding performances of “America", "Hurt" and "Big Boss Man”. The CD contains a de-luxe 16-page full color booklet with 16 rare photos mostly unreleased taken from the original concert in a very professional layout.

Extract from the inside note: Atlanta, June 6th and the end of a tour of 13 shows where the last four were just in Atlanta. In spite of a passable tour with Elvis often not in good condition, slow in his movements and lacking concentration in some songs. Despite this the tour was completely sold out and with the public full of enthusiasm. The last show, presented here lasts 80 minutes. We decided to leave out the solos because the audio quality was very bad in respect to the rest of the tape and overall to keep the concert to one CD of purely Elvis.The Show is good the repertoire result very interesting without doubt is no the classic boring concert of the last period of Elvis' live activity. Elvis sings 19 songs with a great mood with a great public reaction, here is almost possible to breath the atmosphere of the Elvis' performance. Weekly Elvis magazine series being released in Australia: The publication group DeAgostini is releasing a weekly Elvis magazine series in Australia. The memorabilia storage box and cover of issue #1 are shown opposite Maria Simone advises EIN that: "I don't think the DeAgostini site has the just-released Elvis series added as yet because it is still fairly new. However if collectors decide to subscribe they will receive 2 issues with their first shipment and 4 issues every other 28 days.  They will also receive 5 gifts for their subscription:

*An Elvis print with the first delivery
*'68 Comeback Special DVD with second delivery
*Free binder to collect the booklets in with third delivery
*Elvis wall clock with fourth delivery
*Framed Elvis film cell with fifth delivery

High Sierra Fever: Here is the cover art of the forthcoming release High Sierra Fever from the Straight Arrow label. This CD will feature the Lake Tahoe, May 7th, 1973 Midnight show as taken from an excellent quality audience recorded tape. Compared to the January/February 1973 Las Vegas shows, Elvis was in better voice in Lake Tahoe, and his shows were more engaged and playful again. This concert includes classy performances of "Steamroller Blues", "You Gave Me A Mountain", "I'm Leavin' ", "What Now My Love", "I'll Remember You", "Bridge Over Troubled Water" and "A Big Hunk O'Love".

A Wild Weekend In Huntsville: The new release A Wild Weekend in Huntsville ! - volume one from the Madison label is out now.This CD features the concert from May 31, 1975 afternoon show in Huntsville, AL. Some tracks has been previously released but this show is available for the very first time unedited, and as recorded from the mixing board that day at the Von Braun Civic Center in Huntsville, AL.  All the Huntsville shows from the May / June 1975 tour were pretty good and among the best from this period. Elvis is in good form, humor, spirit and it shows throughout the performance. Unfortunately the show has not been recorded in its entirety and starts early during '' Love Me ''. The sound quality is excellent and this new CD comes with a 16 page full color booklet. Watch out soon for Volume Two featuring the afternoon performance recorded the following day in Huntsville, AL

Elvis In Concert - 30th Anniversary - bootleg DVD edition: The legendary TV Special filmed on Elvis Presley’s last concert tour has now been released on DVD - but only as a bootleg. The publicity says that this new remastered edition is the best DVD version that has surfaced so far. Synopsis: “We’re here to entertain you, and to make you happy. So just enjoy yourself, and leave the driving to us” said Elvis to an adoring crowd on his last tour. Elvis had been doing just that for over 20 years - entertaining his fans and making them happy.

Two shows were filmed by CBS on what was to be Elvis’ last concert tour. The June 19 appearance in Omaha, Nebraska and the June 21 in Rapid City, South Dakota. Only three songs were used from the Omaha performance in the final special, which was broadcast on October 3, 1977.

“If you haven’t guessed by now, you’re on television” Elvis said with a characteristic grin to the audience at the June 21 show. “Don't let the lights and cameras throw you, and try not to throw the lights and cameras if you can help it.”

Elvis In Concert was Elvis’ first filmed production in four years after the blockbuster Aloha From Hawaii television special. The contrast in his appearance between the two shows is striking. He was obviously way overweight, said Elvis’ friend Joe Esposito, a few years after Elvis’ death.

Although he did look ill during the filming was the magic still there. Elvis was also still singing great! Just hear Elvis singing thru touching and powerful performances of songs like How Great Thou Art and his latest RCA single Hurt. Playing time 55 min. "Janis and Elvis" reissue on CD: Now 50 years on from the legendary original issue, El Toro Records offers a new CD version to mark the golden anniversary of the brief union of Janis Martin and Elvis Presley, boosted with 18 additional tracks to take advantage of the CD medium. Synopsis: One of the rarest and most sought-after record releases from the last half-century of Elvis Presley collectibles, South Africa's 10" LP 'Janis and Elvis' was issued in 1958 through Teal Records, the company who had the local license to issue RCA records in South Africa at the time. The elusive original LP now commands figures in excess of $5,000.

Featuring just four songs apiece from the two artists featured (the first eight tracks of this CD), the Elvis selection was inexplicably drawn entirely from his Sun recordings with Scotty Moore and Bill Black – specifically from his third and fourth Sun singles from 1955 – while Janis Martin's tracks were gleaned from her second and fourth RCA singles from 1956. Amazingly, although it had formed half of her third release, Janis's now famous early tribute to the Hillbilly Cat - 'My Boy Elvis' - was not even considered for inclusion on the LP.

A sad postscript. After years out of the music scene, in recent times Janis - "The Female Elvis", as she'd been dubbed by RCA - was back in business, performing and recording a new album produced by Rosie Flores. She'd been due to appear at an Americana Festival in Britain earlier this year and then again at the Rhythm Riot, Camber Sands, this coming November. Shortly before the first event she fell ill, by late August she'd been diagnosed with terminal cancer, within two weeks she passed way on 3rd September. This CD release was of course planned long before the rapid and tragic turn of events. R.I.P.

"Leaves of Elvis' garden (Book Review): On her return from Elvis Week 2007, Susan MacDougall sat down to delve inside the latest book from Larry Geller, one which looks at Elvis' spiritual search. What Susan found was both interesting and challenging, as these excerpts from her insightful review attest: Behind the distorted image of a hard-living rock and roll sex symbol and super star is revealed a vulnerable man with a thirst for understanding and enlightenment. Elvis believed that there is one God who is within us all..........At the same time, Elvis never rejected his religion, only its rigid adherents and their intolerance of any deviation from the accepted word, remaining a Christian his whole life, but not a Christian to the exclusion of anything else. In closing her review Susan observes: "Leaves of Elvis' garden" provides a whole different side to the public image of a celebrity. Geller was never the Memphis Mafia's favourite person, but they can't deny his existence and his access to Elvis. I wonder what certain members of the MM will make of this book? "October Encore in Lake Tahoe" CD: The forthcoming "MEMORY Records" label CD release is entitled "October Encore In Lake Tahoe " (CD MR 2055-2). As most die-hard fans know, in Elvis did a short eight-show stint in Tahoe, more or less as an encore, to fulfill his contract after the cancellation of the May 1973 engagement.   There are only two recordings available from this engagement, and the only other known tape is that of the mediocre October 13th midnight show. The tape with the Dinner show, presented on this CD, is of very good sound quality.   Elvis performed in high gear, thrilling the crowd with a funny version of Fever, a poignant "It's Midnight " and the absolute showstopper, a great reading of "Bridge Over Troubled Water". Three songs got the last verse reprised, too.

This is a rare, previously unavailable recording. We were able to obtain the 1st generation copy of the original master tape, as recorded by a member of the audience. The sound was transferred in its original mono format, and all tracks were digitally restored for best possible sound reproduction.   The CD contains 8-page booklet (not so common for MEMORY Records) with many photographs taken during the Lake Tahoe October 12th dinner & midnight shows and the October 14th dinner show.   We hope you will enjoy this CD as a presentation of an unique October 1974 performance of The Elvis Presley Show which, until this historic release, has not been previously represented in good sound quality!

'Viva Las Vegas' ABC TV special review: This was the mainstream TV focus of this year's 30th Anniversary. The promos for the program raised Elvis' fans expectations since it promised "never before seen footage", as well as the idea of a re-evaluation of Elvis' triumphs in Vegas between 1969 to 1976 - as the program noted "in 1969 Vegas was a haven for has-beens." In the end however it comes across as more of a pretty good overall view of Elvis for the general public rather than any revelation for the hard-core Elvis fan.

The program starts with a historical update on Elvis' past. His creation of 'Rock'n'Roll' in SUN through to the terrible mid-sixties movies. The commentators are the usual EPE suspects, (Priscilla, Jerry Schilling, Joe Esposito) but it was good to see enthusiastic fans such as Chris Isaak, Faith Hill, 50 Cent and Beyonce involved. "Protecting The King" (DVD Review): EIN's Nigel Patterson recently warmed up his home theater to view David Stanley's directorial film debut, "Protecting The King". It is the story of Stanley's coming of age, his loss of innocence after becoming one of the King's bodyguards while still a teenager. With a mixed emotional element but several very powerful scenes and flashes of important insight, "Protecting The King" proves to be a strong directorial debut by Stanley. At times the film has a brutally frank edge, and this is unlikely to endear it to some fans. However, it will have merit for those wishing to better understand life around Elvis with its incredible pressures and temptations; and for fans interested in exploring the human frailties and weaknesses which often afflict those thrust into such a surreal existence. Bill Burk slams upcoming George Klein book: Elvis World's Bill E. Burk recently received a review copy of George Klein's upcoming book, "Elvis Presley Family Album". To say Bill was less than impressed is an understatement. Bill found the book to be riddled with errors and he says 99.99999% of the photos have been released before. Also, several of the photos are incorrectly identified and there are no one-on-one photos of George with Elvis during their Humes High years when George became Elvis' best friend. 'Elvis Karaoke' new CD: The Elvis 30th Anniversary marketing continues with this Karaoke promo CD from the Madacy Entertainment Company. Featuring only 8 tracks with "on-screen lyrics and booklet included", the CD states that it is "The only label licensed to distribute Elvis' biggest hits in Karaoke format". 'Elvis - The Hollywood Collection Vol. 1' DVD review: In August 2007 Warners released their DVD box-set 'Elvis: The Hollywood Collection Vol. 1'. Featuring the 6 movies Charro, Girl Happy, Kissin' Cousins, Live a Little Love a Little, Stay Away Joe and Tickle Me. The six titles in this set were only on VHS until now. Charro was previously  available on dvd but in very poor quality. Two of the DVD covers state that they are new digital transfers of the complete original theatrical version, however all of them are in excellent colour and sound. 'It's Tahoe Time' new import CD release: Coming soon from Rainbow Records is their second CD titled 'It´s Tahoe Time', containing Elvis' Oct 13th, 1974 Midnight Show at the Sahara Tahoe Hotel, Lake Tahoe. Until today there has never been a CD release of any of the 8 performances of this very little-known engagement at Lake Tahoe in autumn 1974. The CD is taken from an early generation audience recorded Cassette-Tape which has been professionally mastered. This presents one of only two known recorded performances of Elvis´ October 74 Tahoe concerts and is described as being in good and listenable sound-quality. Presented with a 16-page booklet which contains all the information about the engagement, including a special report by a female fan who saw all eight shows, written just a few days after this engagement was over. At the show Elvis was wearing his then brand new 'Mexican Sundial' jumpsuit which would only reappear in 1977.

Elvis: That's The Way It Is (2007 DVD): Whether you are a long time Elvis fan, or just interested in the music and showmanship of the King of Entertainers, this is a nice collection!  Filmed in 1970, backstage, on stage, during rehearsals and with a wealth of celebrities in attendance, these performances are from a time many consider to be at the height of Elvis’s career.  In the summer of 1970, a slim strong-voiced Elvis performed a live show for four weeks at the International Hotel in Las Vegas.  The result was that the world fell in love again with Elvis and his music.  He gave his fans the show of a lifetime in these performances, including songs from his beginnings such as All Shook Up, and Hound Dog, all the way to his final #1 hit Suspicious Minds.  Mixed with the stage numbers are footage of rehearsals, on-stage ad libs, and moments that are simply Elvis lore.  First released in theaters in 1970, this feature was re-released with special additions in 2001.

The DVD is a two disc set, with an accompanying art photo booklet composed of images from the time. 
 
Disc one is the 2001 re-release of the feature and includes Restoration Featurette Patch it Up:  The Restoration of Elvis:  Presley Career Highlights:  Director/Restorer Filmographies and Theatrical Trailer.  Running time is 96 minutes, and there are English and French subtitles available.  The opening credits inform the viewer that footage that was not used in the final film of 1970’s is now available in this disc.  An exciting prospect!
 
Disc Two is the 1970 Original Theatrical Version, and has a “Dozen Never-Seen Outtake Songs/Non musical sequences.  Running time for this disc is 108 minutes with English and French subtitles available for the feature.

This feature film is still great fun.  Originally, it was interesting and a novelty to see a performer of Elvis’s caliber in rehearsals and as a confident showman, and real person.  Now, it is great to see how the music is still familiar, is holding up well in the 21st century, and that Elvis’s performances continue to work a kind of magic on the viewer.  Not only of interest because of the performer and the music, this film is a time capsule, of styles, attitudes, pleasures and problems of the time. 

Bright patterned polyester shirts, amazing Afro hair do’s and my gosh, Elvis’s incredible sideburns vie for attention along side music, and stories, jokes and unforgettable moments.  Fans didn’t have internet, DVD’s or videos to watch in those days, they had feature films such as Elvis - That's the Way It Is (Two-Disc Special Edition) to bring their favorite performers to life.

FTD's Roger Semon & Ernst Jorgensen have said: Important information about distribution and release dates: When we release new product we are bombarded with E-mails and phone calls from many of you. We do understand that, as one of our customers humorously put it, “The natives are getting restless”.

However we are one of the smallest customers with both the factory and the distribution, and whereas both companies do their best to keep the deadlines, we will always have to wait if some bigger release gets in the way. This could cost us up to a week with both situations.

Running a company with such low sales figures, we have to be cost efficient, so the service we get from the distribution is geared towards that. We do not automatically get tracking numbers, specific shipping dates for each customer. The transport companies have a 3-5 day delivery guarantee. This means we cannot tell you the exact date you get your order. We try to send to far away countries first, but we can only control it in the first stage. To upgrade these services would be quite costly.

As you have noticed the two new releases are described as “Shipping date early November”. This is a consequence of several situations:

1) We are both under enormous work pressure from our “daytime jobs”. FTD is something we do on weeknights and weekends, and in this case it means that we have not had the time to get anything ready for October 1st.
2) The vague term early November is a consequence of all of the above. It’s an illusion to guarantee specific dates with so many uncontrollable elements involved. You need to tell your customers this – if for no other reason, at least to keep your incoming phone calls and E-mails under control

Elvis' 2007 Worldwide Chart success: According to Elvis news this is Elvis' recent 2007 worldwide chart successes. These early Elvis releases are very rare and there is something extremely appealing about their purple and gold labels. Owning an HMV original is a real treat for Elvis collectors. In a very smart marketing move the M.R.S label has released another 'His Master's Voice' collectable, in collaboration with HMV UK stores. New Elvis book release in Spain: The book “Elvis Corazon Solitario” (Elvis Lonely Heart), by Javier Márquez, hit the Spanish bookstands August 16th 2007. The book is published in Spain by Editorial Almuzara. The target of this book is taming the different versions known of Elvis Presley with a pinch of that passion which is needed to understand the man that mainly lived his life to make those around him happy, with a song if possible. Synopsis: Most probably the boy from Tupelo has more written history about him than any other artists of the 20th Century, maybe with the exception of The Beatles. The bigger problem facing this task is the surplus of information, which makes it too diffused and exploited, and, thus, the details worth of consideration are lost in the sea of information. For this particular reason this book does not shed a new light into all what has been said and written in the hundreds of books devoted to Elvis Presley published through the world. Lisa Marie's 30th anniversary project revealed - new duet with Elvis!: A new video of Lisa Marie Presley singing "In the Ghetto," accompanied by her late father, Elvis Presley, will be posted Friday on the AOL Internet site Spinner.com, a company spokesman said Tuesday. To mark the 30th anniversary of her father's death, Lisa Marie Presley's voice was added to the original version of her father's hit song from 1969. The video duet also features images of her late father. Spinner.com will post the video along with the transcript of an interview with Lisa Marie Presley, AOL spokesman Kurt Patat said. In the interview, Lisa Marie Presley said the project was emotionally stirring.

"We had two hours to lay down my vocals," she says. "So the next morning, I heard the rough ... and ... I've never cried when I've done anything ... ever ... but I just lost it when I heard it.Lisa Marie Presley also talks in the interview about how she was offended to see her father's song "Viva Las Vegas" used in a Viagra commercial. "I find that revolting," she said. "Some songs we have no control over. I know we didn't license that one."Proceeds from the new song and video will be used to help build temporary housing for the homeless in New Orleans, she said. The project is to be similar to Presley Place, a 12-unit apartment building for the homeless built in Memphis by Elvis Presley Enterprises Inc. in 2001. At the time, Elvis Presley Enterprises was owned by Lisa Marie Presley. She sold 85 percent of the company two years ago to CKX Inc., which now controls the worldwide business in marketing Elvis' name and image.Elvis Presley died at his Memphis home, Graceland, on Aug. 16, 1977, and thousands of fans are in town this week for the 30th anniversary of his death.Lisa Marie Presley, 39, is scheduled to attend a concert Thursday in Memphis that will feature her father performing on video, with live support from his former backup singers and band members. Her most recent album of her own music was "Now What" in 2005, but she said in the interview that she hopes to put out a new album soon.

The recording is a "dance" remix of the sublime but little known Elvis track, (I Got A) Feeling In My Body. Backing Gerace is none other than the Sweet Inspirations. No matter the part, he resolutely portrayed the country kid who made good, his hair a slicked, unyielding coif, his gyrations and self-satisfied sneer irresistible to every woman who crossed his path. The formula is solidly evident in eight Presley movies set for release Tuesday on DVD to commemorate the 30th anniversary of his death: King Creole (1958), G.I. Blues (1960), Blue Hawaii (1961), Roustabout (1964), Girls! Girls! Girls! (1962), Fun in Acapulco (1963), Paradise, Hawaiian Style (1966) and Easy Come, Easy Go (1967).

In most of his 31 films, panned at the time but profitable, the ever-cool, photogenic Presley breaks into song at every opportunity, usually backed by a band he has ostensibly just encountered but with which he manages somehow to perform flawlessly.

In King Creole, at least, Presley - playing a poor busboy who gets mixed up with the New Orleans mob - stretches his acting chops, no doubt because of the prodding of director Michael Curtiz (Casablanca).

But in Girls! Girls! Girls!, filmed partly on location in Hawaii and partly - and very obviously - on a well-lighted soundstage, Presley flounders as a fishing-boat captain who spends as much time warbling tunes as he does casting for shrimp and bickering with his two love interests. Released July 16, 2007 is a book from Roger Loyd, son of the late Harold Loyd who was a security guard at the gates of Graceland from the early sixties until he retired in the early 90's. MRS to release Elvis single exclusively through HMV UK: One of Elvis Presley's best recordings from 1956 is being released as a limited edition single, EXCLUSIVE to HMV stores. My Baby Left Me has been digitally remastered and features the original look of the HMV label and inner-sleeve. The NEW single is being released on 20 August and will be available in both CD and Vinyl formats. The organisation behind the release is the Memphis Recording Service, whose previous releases have been the acclaimed MRS volumes and most recently Tupelo's Own Elvis Presley.

Each CD and 10” vinyl copy will be numbered and Joseph Pirzada has told EIN only 15,000 CDs and 10,000 vinyl copies are being produced.

The CD will come with a bonus film of ‘Don’t Be Cruel’ filmed in Tupelo on the afternoon of September 26th 1956. This can only be viewed by computer using Quicktime.

Track listing "Elvis 30 #1 Hits" DVD: Elvis World Japan has published the track listings of the upcoming "30 #1 Hits" DVD. The release will be a 15 track single disc in the US and a 30 track 2DVD release outside the US:

Later this year, Sony BMG will distribute a DVD release that could serve to introduce Elvis to new audiences of all ages, perhaps prompting their first Elvis purchase, and encourage some casual Elvis fans to get more serious.

In North America it will be Elvis #1 Hit Performances - a 15-song collection of videos of Elvis peforming some of his #1 US and UK hits. In the UK it will be Elvis #1 Hit Performances and More - the same content as the North American release and 15 additional performances of songs that were either #1 in the US or UK or are simply Elvis classics. This is sort of a DVD version of the concepts for the ELV1S 30 #1 Hits and ELVIS 2ND To None CDs of 2002 and 2003. The content is doubled for the UK version primarily because music publishing clearances are standardized in the UK for DVD releases like they are for CDs. In the United States, music publishers can hold the songs they own or represent for ransom because DVD clearance rates are not standardized as they are for CDs.

Release dates to be announced. These are expected to come out sometime in the fourth quarter of 2007, timed nicely for holiday gift sales.

2007 Summer of Elvis will be a hot one: Throw your blue suede shoes in your suitcase and and make your way to Memphis or get your computer all shook up for a summer that has become the largest celebration of Elvis in history. From race cars to candy bars and in a multitude of new movies, music offerings, products and promotions, fans all over the world can experience Elvis like never before in history.

In July, TV Land and the city of Honolulu, Hawaii will honor Elvis during the 30th anniversary year with a life-sized bronze sculpture. This TV Land Landmark will commemorate the 1973 Aloha from Hawaii concert. The sculpture will grace The Neal S. Blaisdell Center, formerly The Honolulu International Center, site of the historic Aloha from Hawaii event. August will be Elvis Month on TV Land, which will feature numerous Elvis movies, specials and documentaries.

Reese’s Peanut Butter & Banana Creme Cups featuring Elvis Presley are available through December 2007 in standard, miniatures and “The King” sizes at grocery, drug and convenience stores nationwide. With the Reese’s Elvis “Live Like the King” promotion, Elvis fans can instantly win one of more than 10,000 prizes, including a trip to Graceland in Memphis, a scarf owned by Elvis Presley, Elvis sunglasses, Elvis license plates and more.

For the ultimate grand prize, the Reese’s brand has teamed up with Boyd Coddington of TLC’s “American Hot Rod” to create an authentic Elvis tribute car. The 1957 pink Cadillac has been custom built to look just like the Cadillac Elvis used to drive and upgraded to include all the features of a 2007 custom hot rod car. Warner Home Video and Paramount Home Entertainment are pooling their DVD sales and marketing resources to release a total of 24 Elvis films. The lead titles in the promotion are Deluxe Editions of Viva Las Vegas and Jailhouse Rock and 2 Disc Special Editions of Elvis: That’s the Way It Is and This is Elvis, making its DVD debut.

"Elvis - Muziek Mens Mythe" box set announced: The "Elvis Bible" 'Elvis - Muziek Mens Mythe' by Belgian author Marc Hendrickx will be available in two versions, both in Dutch. Both books are identical (700 pages, hard cover, hundreds of pictures and a news-update to July 2007, including future plans), but the packaging is different. The Deluxe edition (see picture) comes in a special box with a hologram-like picture and contains the book, the 2DVD set 'The Early Years' and the documentary 'The Last 24 Hours'. While the Dutch book stores will only have the Deluxe edition, the Belgian buyers can choose between the box set and just the book. Target prices are 36 euro for the book and 49.95 for the box. Both versions are waiting for delivery, and are available later this week. Be warned: one particular website mentions that the books have already been released. This, of course, is absolute nonsense. "Elvis Is Back" book set released: The book is made like the two “Inside” boxes. It comes in a box including a vinyl single, dvd, post cards and a certificate. The book is 152 pages. That is 40 more than the two previous ones. Elvis Is Back is all about Elvis’ return to the music scene in 1960. This year was a bittersweet one for Elvis. He was being discharged from the Army. Music had changed in two years and he was a little insecure about his music career. Yet he enters the sessions with such ambition and determination.

It’s almost as if Elvis hit the ground running upon his return. The Colonel had been busy preparing for Elvis' return for a very long time. Not only were the recording sessions lined up, an appearance on the ABC televised Frank Sinatra Special and the filming for “G.I. Blues” were immediately following.

His appearance on the Sinatra Special is warmly received by the public. Elvis innocently steals the show from Sinatra. Yet the repertoire between the two performers is very apparent. “G.I. Blues” is a very successful film for Elvis although Elvis hates being in uniform again.

During this year, Elvis is also experiencing many changes in his personal life. Elvis has met Priscilla while in Germany. But he returns to his long time girlfriend Anita Wood. They continue their relationship where it left off before Elvis left for Germany. Vernon marries Dee, which is hard on Elvis because of the loss of his mother. Elvis also brings many of his friends from Germany home and the Memphis Mafia is formed.

But still the most important thing during the year 1960 is the amazing recording sessions. We have two incredible albums from this year, “Elvis Is Back” and “His Hand In Mine.” Elvis truly proves his ability as a performer. He conquers every challenge he is faced with and proves Elvis is back!

"Elvis Is Back" includes many never before seen pictures from this period. There is even some very interesting ones from the filming of "G.I. Blues". Those were not used in the "Inside G.I. Blues" book.

"Vegas Variety" CD: The brand new Rainbow Records label will release a double CD set entitled "Vegas Variety". This release contains a complete and nearly 90 minutes long performance of Elvis Presley´s September 1st, 1974 Dinner Show recorded from the audience in Las Vegas.

From the press release: The recording of this show has been taken from the original first generation (audience recorded) Cassette-Tape and it has been carefully worked on in a professional studio. So the Producers are able to present exactly what their aim for this project stands for: one of the best performances of Elvis´ August/September 74 concert series at the Las Vegas Hilton Hotel in best possible sound-quality, rounded off by a great 16 page booklet containing all necessary information regarding the show – and lots of pictures.

We truly believe that this is a great show with an extremly talkative Elvis (including a nearly 10 minutes long monologue about the difference between kung fu and karate) who delivers a bunch of his later classics (the only 50´s throwaway-style-sung title in this show is "Hound Dog", no more „timekillers“!). Hear Elvis, who is clearly in a relaxed mood, doing classy versions of songs like „It´s Midnight“, „Big Boss Man“, „I´m Leavin´“, „If You Talk In Your Sleep“ (introducing a series of karate moves) and „Bridge Over Troubled Water“.

As a bonus you can hear recordings from the September 2, 1974 „Closing Night“, taken from the soundboard – including some rare dialogue of Elvis while „Voice“ Pete Hallin is preparing himself before singing „I Couldn´t Live Without You“. The „Strung Out Mix“ is a nice and funny gem and finally, you can hear Ed Parker talking about the King in an excerpt from a late 70´s radio show called „The Elvis Hour“.

King and Queen coin: Starting this month, the British 'Legends Jewelry' will offer a series of 12 silver coins. For the first time ever, 'The King and Queen': Elvis and Queen Elizabeth II, will be portraied on one coin. Allthough the coin is a legal payment method, coincollectors, Elvis fans and Royalty fans will be pleased to add this to their collections. Each month of the next year will have a new release with a new theme. The first one is called 'That's All Right'. Contract with the King" book release: We announced yesterday that this new novel by Paul Pullen was now available for order. Here is an excerpt from the book: ...Paul walked into Dave’s dark bedroom and paused, waiting for his tired eyes to adjust—tired from staring at the road and rearview all the way from Memphis. He stretched the stiff muscles in his back and neck then sat in an old armchair beside his roommate’s bed. A burnt-orange University of Texas curtain reached out from an open window. The faint smell of stale marijuana smoke ascended from a mound of dirty clothes between Dave’s desk and bed. A page in an open medical book fluttered. “Dave, wake up.” Paul rubbed the goose bumps from his tanned arms then combed his fingers through his curly brown hair. The early morning breeze was unusually cool for Austin in March, but he knew it would not last. KLBJ had predicted a high of 86º. The alarm clock on Dave’s nightstand read 3 a.m. As Paul watched Dave sleep, he wished he, too, was snuggled in bed, drifting off to dreamland, but before he could even think of sleep, he had one more important task to complete. Paul, Dave, Brooks, and Rob, the Four Musketeers, had met in third grade but had not become close friends until junior high and high school, a time when forever friendships are formed. MGM honors The King: The King may (or may not) be dead, but the legacy of rock legend and matinee-idol Elvis Presley will live forever. Honoring the pop culture icon and hip-swinging heart-throb in time for the 30th anniversary of his tragic and untimely death - August 16, 1977 – MGM Home Entertainment brings the sequin-studded hero to DVD with the Elvis Presley MGM Movie Legends Collection and the outrageous Bubba Ho-Tep Limited Edition.

A rebel armed with a six-string and a mean fusion sound, Elvis had already changed the face of American music before conquering Hollywood with his signature sneer and perfectly-coifed pompadour. Celebrating the early screen work of the man who would be King, the four-disc Elvis Presley MGM Movie Legends Collection arrives on DVD July 24 for the suggested retail price of $39.98.

The collection includes Clambake (1967), which finds a young oil tycoon posing as a water-ski instructor in an effort to find someone who doesn’t love him just for his money; Kid Galahad (1962), a musical/boxing picture and a departure from Elvis’ frothy cinematic fare; Follow That Dream (1962), the fun-loving fable about an unorthodox family setting up a community on the side of the highway… much to the chagrin of the officious state supervisor; and Frankie And Johnny (1966), a red-hot dramatic tale of jealousy and murder.

The Shady Rest retirement home is about to get a new resident: a broken-down and eccentric old geezer claiming to be the King of Rock N Roll himself!   Cult icon Bruce Campbell (The Evil Dead Trilogy, Spider-Man 3) stars as Elvis Presley in Bubba Ho-Tep, returning to DVD on August 7 in a new Special Edition - with new collectible packaging based on Presley’s own white leather Campbell swings his feeble hips and joins forces with the late, great Ossie Davis (Grumpy Old Men, Do The Right Thing) – who plays a decrepit and black President John “Jack” Kennedy – to combat a blood-sucking mummy in this “wildly creative amusement” (Premiere) from screenwriter/ director Don Coscarelli (Phantasm, The Beastmaster).

Based on the Bram Stoker Award-nominated short story by cult author Joe R. Lansdale, Bubba Ho-Tep garnered Second Place for Best International Film at the Fant-Asia Film Festival and was nominated for Best Screenplay by the Online Film Critics Society.

"The Complete Sun Sessions" reissue: Due for rerelease on July 10, 2007 by Chrome Dreams is the "Complete Sun Sessions" CD. This release contains a booklet, photos and a picture disc packaged in a deluxe card slipcase. Synopsis: Including every finished song and surviving take recorded at Sun during 1954 and 1955 (after which Presley signed with RCA) by Elvis, Scotty Moore and Bill Black, these are the recordings made as Rock N' Roll was invented. There's little else to say, except that virtually record made since has in some direct or indirect way been hugely influenced by the contents of this astonishing collection. Also features the complete 'Hayride' live recording from '54 and '55 (Louisiana's version of the Grand Ol' Opry), and the 1953 recordings Elvis made at Sun as a present for his mother.
