EIN "Downunder" E-Alert #16

Monday 5 February 2007

...America watch out...the "downunder contingent" is coming....

Hi everyone

Welcome to the first EIN "Downunder" E-Alert for 2007. With EIN's Ultimate 30th Anniversary Tour to Elvis Week only a little over 6 months away we thought it was an opportune time to focus on what those visiting Memphis, Tupelo, LA, Las Vegas and Nashville, can expect.

There are also some places left on the EIN tour so let us know if you are interested in becoming part of the "best" tour going to Graceland this year!

And the really good news is that our travel agent, David Devine (Travelscene Tweed Valley), has managed to get the price down by more than $100.00! The tour cost is now only A$6,799.00 plus approx. $400.00 taxes.

Your tour guides

EIN's Ultimate 30th Anniversary Elvis Week Tour has two seasoned tour guides: Piers Beagley and Nigel Patterson.

The great thing about the guys is that we know not only the obvious places to go and things to do, but also the lesser known places and things which will add real value to your holiday experience!

Your tour guides speak!

"You will have FUN, FUN and MORE FUN...we order it! Oh and by the way did we mention it's all about Elvis"

With this year's Elvis Birthday celebration over there is now only a little over 6 months before our tour departs Australia for the US.

With many hotels already booked out in Memphis and those hotels with rooms raising their prices to ridiculous levels, it is a great time to join our tour where the accommodation component was fixed at ordinary rates in 2006. When you consider that Hotels are already charging over $290 per night this makes our overall cost great value for money.

While many of you have already paid your deposit for EIN's Ultimate Elvis Week 2007 Tour there are still some spaces left on the tour.

With days spent in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Nashville, Tupelo, and of course Elvis Week in Memphis; many meals included; and Elvis sight-seeing galore, the tour promises to be an exciting, fun-filled experience.

EIN has been running tours to Graceland for 20 years and our tours are recognised as among the best you can get.  Our '2002 Trip of A Lifetime' still has the 35 tour participants raving about what a great time they had.

Morning dawns at Graceland

EIN's ultimate tour also offers a number of things other tours don't:

1. The tour is fully escorted by not one, but two knowledgeable Elvis fans! We know the obvious places to see, but more importantly we also know the out-of-the-way places which add real value to your holiday enjoyment and memories.

2. If you check out our website (particularly our Interviews section) you will note the range of people in Elvis' inner circle EIN has access to. While we are "keeping mum" about just who we have lined up to surprise tour members during the 17 days, we can assure you no-one will be disappointed!

3. EIN's 'famous' Tour Pack - given to each tour member this includes a variety of Elvis things.  While we are yet to settle on this year's precise pack contents, in the past it has included books, CDs, DVDs, tour caps,
postcards, fact sheets etc.

4. As always, our tour offers a good balance between structured activities and FREE time where individuals can do their own thing individually or in groups.

We have deliberately limited the Ultimate 30th Anniversary Tour to 32 participants.  Keeping the group to one Tour bus means easier transportation, less waiting around, as well as ensuring that members are treated as friends and fans instead of being just a number.

As probably the last major Elvis Week, August 2007 promises to be a great time with the recently renovated Tupelo Museum now open and many new Elvis Week events planned.

In 2002 we all had the chance to see and meet many of Elvis' friends. The Legends concert with Scotty Moore, D.J. Fontana etc was a highlight, as was the 'Memphis 2002 Concert' with Jordanaires, Lisa Marie, Priscilla etc al (as recently released on the sensational DVD 'Elvis Lives')

More importantly in 2002 we got to see the legendary producer Sam Phillips, as well as chat to close Elvis friend Charlie Hodge. Sadly these fabulous people have since passed on reminding us that it is all the more important to get to Memphis in 2007 since all of Elvis' friends and aquatainences are not getting any younger.

Opposite: The late Charlie Hodge with Joe Esposito

And this is surely the last major 'Elvis Presley In Concert' with the TCB Band & friends that will ever have the chance to see. Do not miss this golden opportunity.

And of course EIN's very special, secret guests!!!

We hope you can join us.

Nigel & Piers

Elvis Week 2007 holds many great times:

Los Angeles...city of angels (and Elvis!)

Enjoy a tour of LA with EIN as we visit the legendary Venice Beach and Rodeo Drive; Elvis' hotel, the Beverley Wilshire; and take in the movie lots where Elvis made some of his greatest films: MGM/UA; Paramount, 20th Century Fox; Universal Studios as well as seeing where Elvis lived including his Monovale Home.

And did we mention CBS Television City (The Ed Sullivan Show), the Melody Ranch (where Elvis made Kissin' Cousins); the Hollywood Walk of Fame and dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe!

Viva Las Vegas!... Home of the high rollers...and Elvis fans!

The night life....the casinos....the glitz and glamour....the Las Vegas Hilton....the Flamingo.... see the streets where they filmed Viva Las Vegas... and this is your chance to fly over the Grand Canyon - a spectacular optional extra that Elvis fans really enjoyed on the 2002 tour.

EIN's tour will take it all in over 3 days and nights....

Las Vegas by night
Head of Elvis Statue at the Las Vegas Hilton

Tupelo - the town where Elvis was born

Nothing can beat the extraordinary feeling of spending time in the very room where Elvis was born!

Tupelo Elvis Museum has re-opened

In time for the 30th Anniversary, the rejuvenated Elvis Museum in Tupelo has re-opened. Tupelo is a popular destination for fans during Elvis Week with the museum, Elvis' birth home and the famous Elvis Chapel.

The Tupelo museum is full of Elvis' personal possessions which makes the visit a very emotional experience every time you visit.

The many new friends you will meet

Elvis Week is renowned for the forming of many new friendships as you interact with fans from countries all around the world. England, Japan, America, the various European and South American countries - we are all there with one thing in mind - to celebrate the life and music of the world's greatest entertainer...Elvis Aaron Presley.

The joy of celebrating Elvis' life together with good friends - watching his musicians in concert, meeting Elvis' friends - cannot be beaten. Similarly, sharing the deep emotion of spending special time together at Elvis' Meditation Garden or the Candelit Vigil is an experience you can never forget.

My (Nigel) first trip to Elvis Week was in 1986 and in 2007 I am still in contact with many of the friends I made then.

...Visiting Graceland...

And don't forget to write your name and personal message to Elvis on the Graceland wall.

The memories!!

Those of you who have previously been to Elvis Week know only too well what we are talking about. From visiting the place of Elvis' birth in Tupelo, to the magic of Vegas or film studios in Hollywood, to the wonder of standing there and entering Elvis' mansion, Graceland, your senses will be literally a buzz with great feelings.

The Candlelight Vigil leaves an indelible mark on one's psyche and sharing fun times with old and new friends is something we so often rarely do.

The famous "Memphis Mafia" - who will you meet in 2007?

Elvis back in Aussie charts...twice!!

After 3 weeks, the Essential Elvis compilation 2CD is currently #38 on the ARIA Albums Chart.

Mastered by Vic Anesini, the compile spans Elvis' full recording career from his first single, That's All Right in 1954, to Moody Blue in 1977.

With 40 tracks on its 2 discs it is a pleasing compilation including several unusual selections in Follow That Dream, Big Boss Man, Memories, Polk Salad Annie and I Just Can't Help Believin'. The release is complemented by an attractive 16 page booklet with excellent liner notes written by Michael Hill.

The release is available now in all good record stores.

Meanwhile, the Elvis Presley-Johnny Cash Road Show Interstate DVD has debuted on the ARIA Music DVD Chart this week at #28.
