It's been a long time since the tabloid media had a field day (and increased sales) with stories of Elvis' "alleged" illegitimate children. Names like Lucy DeBarbin, Deborah Presley and Elvis Presley Jr. were well known in the Elvis world for a few years in the late 1980s. At one time more than a dozen people claiming to be Elvis' offspring hit the headlines. In July 2005, Timothy James Farrell has come forward claiming to be the result of a liaison between Elvis and Rebecca Stewart in 1954. The story goes:

In the summer of 1954, Rebecca Stewart was a 19 year old woman who had recently moved to Memphis, Tennessee. A couple of her friends took her to the Eagle’s Nest, where Elvis Presley was performing.

Over the course of the evening, Elvis repeatedly asked Rebecca to dance. She was very hesitant, because as she said, Elvis danced so wildly she did not think she could keep up with him. He teased her and called her, "Chicken, chicken!". She finally agreed to slow dance with him.

That night, Elvis invited Rebecca’s group to join him and his band for chili at a popular late-night restaurant after the show. Afterward, Rebecca’s friends went home and she went on with Elvis, ultimately spending the night at the Flamingo Motel on Lamar Avenue in Memphis. Elvis gave Rebecca cab fare to get home the next morning, and he was picked up by some of his band members.

Three months later, Rebecca found out she was pregnant. On April 2, 1955, Timothy James Farrell was born.

Rebecca didn’t discuss her relationship with Elvis, except with her new husband and a few close family members. She was understandably embarrassed to be a pregnant teenager in the South – and as Elvis was just becoming very well-known, she felt that nobody would believe her anyway. She felt she would be the object of ridicule, and that it would cause her a great deal of trouble with her family.

Tim grew up knowing only that his biological father was a musician. In 1978, several months after Elvis death, his mother told him that Elvis was his father. Tim was already an established and working musician. He traveled and worked in the South and throughout the Midwest. Ultimately, the press picked up Rebecca’s story, and Tim was hounded wherever he sang by curious people and booking agents. He felt he was becoming a spectacle, and there was no way for him to prove his mother's story. Finally, he asked his mother not to talk about Elvis anymore, and he quit singing.

Tim moved on with his life until 2002, when his mother was dying of cancer. The last time he spoke with his mother, she told him from her deathbed that it was true -- that Elvis was his father. After her death, Tim's siblings found a sealed package for him left by his mother. It was the documentation and information in that package that convinced him to try and find a way to confirm his parentage.

Since the middle of 2004, Tim has been trying to find someone to assist him in his search for the truth. He has a small, but committed, group of people that are trying to help him in this effort.

Over the months he has talked with attorneys working for the Elvis Presley Estate, and many others, trying to get someone to release a DNA sample. He has been repeatedly turned down in his quest. This, despite the fact that he has an amazing amount of information that demonstrates the validity of his story. Tim has not asked the Presley family or the Presley estate for their money. But he DOES have a right to know who his father is and this is, very simply, what he is trying to accomplish.

Tim is now 50 years old. While he does not bear a strong resemblance to Elvis, he looks very much like Vernon Presley. In fact, he has the same birthmark on his face that Vernon had.

He also is an amazing singer, and we’ll make sure you get to hear his voice soon on this site. The uncanny familiarity of his voice always grabs people’s attention. He has been interviewed all over the country by newspapers and radio.
