New Elvis GOLD & PLATINUM RIAA Certifications in 2014: Great news for Elvis fans Insider (and FECC poster) Victor Manuelabreu has posted that there will be a press release coming soon from Jack Soden President of the EPE working in conjunction with the RIAA pertaining to new certifications for Elvis Presley. After years of research, It is believed that new independent audited figures have been located and will be established for Elvis Presley's United States album sales in correlation to new certifications.
This is this list of albums awaiting certification by the RIAA.
1. An afternoon In the Garden - will be certified Gold.
2. White Christmas - will be certified Gold.
3. Elvis Country - will be upgraded to platinum
4. Elvis By The Presleys - will be certified gold
5. The Essential Elvis Presley - will be upgraded to platinum
6 Christmas Duets - will be certified gold.
7. Pot Luck - will be certified gold
8. Love Letters - will be certified gold
9. Good Times - will be certified Gold
10. Promised Land - will be certified gold.
11. Elvis Today - will be certified gold.
Many of the soundtrack albums will also be tabulated with new certifications coupled with new upgrades in certifications for other Presley albums. I have been told that over 25 Presley albums will
receive posthumous certifications by the RIAA.
It seems that the Presley estate was tallying the amount of records to be certified by the RIAA all at one time. Presley is already the most certified artist in the history of popular music with a combined total of 257 certifications for albums and singles. He is way ahead of the second place Beatles who have a combined total of 148 certifications. I cannot believe that Elvis is still under certified by the Recording Industry Association of America.

'Closing Strong!' New Import CD/Vinyl: Out soon on the VV label is their fourth release entitled "Closing Strong!" featuring both the complete live soundboard recording from February 23th 1970 Las Vegas Closing show and the complete live audience recording from Houston on March 1, 1970 Afternoon Show .
The publicity states that.. the producers are aware of the fact that the closing night show, as one of the best Elvis Presley concerts ever, has been previously released in different imports. But here we give you the chance to listen to the show in its entirety FOR THE FIRST TIME in a double high valued collector vinyl set (EIN notes that this GREAT show has just been released by the FTD label see 'The On Stage Season' FTD In-Depth Review) . The second show, the Houston incredible March 1st afternoon show, presents Elvis at the pick of his possibility, although not new to CD collectors, will not have been heard in this quality before. This release is taken directly from a first generation tape and has been professionally remastered to a high standard producing an excellent audio quality, The sound quality is far superior to the previous released audience recordings.

This is an Audience Recording so be sure to ask your local dealer for samples! Elvis at Houston is pure dynamite, delivering a great performance that compares with the Closing night in terms of quality, giving to this release the status of “UNIQUE”.
Here you can hear the complete opening night. Houston was three days later only from the end of the Vegas season, for Elvis the very first opportunity to face a real audience from his comeback to live scenes. The result six supernatural shows with record attendance set in the Saturday evening show…. the rest his history, Here you can hear the complete March 01 afternoon show. Elvis performed accompanied from the band only a solid and rough show singing the best of the previous Las Vegas Season, in spite the short show ( about 44 minutes) and the bad acoustic with this show as Houston Chronicle review suggest "Elvis Brings Down The House At The Dome" can be reasonably to be included in one of best shows ever!!!
EIN notes - Buyers Beware! Note that Elvis closed his Houston stint with the evening show, March 1, 1970 which is not the concert featured here.

Lisa Marie, Graceland and the Secret Room: Back in 2006 Lisa Marie showed Oprah around Graceland letting her explore each room, with Lisa Marie telling some lovely old stories about times with Elvis.
Director of Archives Angie Marchese who has worked at Graceland for over 23 years, also shows Oprah the "secret room" at Graceland where (some of ) Elvis' precious memorabilia is kept.
Lisa Marie talks excitedly of coming in whenever she feels like to look at some of her father's belongings.
Recently FECC members have been debating where this "secret room" is located.

EIN has asked Marty Lacker for his thoughts about the "secret room" location.

Elvis Heritage Is Alive In Memphis: Out now is the new guide 'Memphis Map for Elvis Fans'. It’s the first map that tells Elvis’s story by illustrating where he lived, worked and played in his home city.
Whether the building still stands or is long gone, 100 hand-drawn sites display the world that Elvis knew. Find out where he worked as a truck driver, made his first public appearance, saw his car almost destroyed by adoring fans, threw marathon roller-skating parties and met Colonel Parker for the first time.
Sections such as 'ELVIS DOWNTOWN' offers a panoramic view of Elvis’s life in Memphis while 'THE LEGEND' describes how each site was part of the Elvis story.
Designed by Maria Rabinky, Michael Kelly and Andrea Shaw, well-known Elvis historians Mike Freeman and Sue Mack gave generously of their time and extraordinary storehouse of knowledge to help with the accuracy of the Memphis Map.

ABG - 'More Elvis in the Right Places': Great news for serious Elvis fans fed up with his image being plastered over rubber-duckies and silly trinkets.
With its acquisition of EPE, ABG  is planning to bring a little bit of focus to the selling of Presley’s image. Authentic Brands won’t be eliminating any of the planned rollouts of new merchandise that was announced before the sale. These are the planned releases for the pending 60th anniversary of the release of Elvis’ first single, “That’s All Right” including Fathead life-sized cutouts, a line of Zippo lighters and a tequila set for 2014.
However ABG president Nick Woodhouse said the company’s approach may be to pare down some products and that one of the company’s goals is to associate Elvis with higher-end products and retailers. That could mean the end of Elvis' image being splattered all over trinkets, a strategy that may have diluted the brand over the years.
“We’ll look at high-level participation and collaboration instead of licensing,” Woodhouse said. “Fans can look for more Elvis in the right places.”
ABG will manage Graceland along with Joel Weinshanker, founder and chairman of the National Entertainment Collectibles Association. There will be an effort to make the destination more contemporary overall without diminishing the “heritage of what it means."
Weinshanker, an Elvis fan, called Graceland “Elvis’ castle,” and Woodhouse echoes his thoughts when it comes to respecting what’s already there. But he does say the destination can be leveraged more, which in turn would bring more visitors to Memphis.
“Memphis is synonymous with Graceland,” Woodhouse said. “A higher-profile Elvis means a higher-profile Graceland and a higher-profile Memphis.”

Elvis Still Attracts Fans Young and Old: The King of Rock & Roll continues to attract fans young and old, last week it was Justin Timberlake and this week it's UK dubstep starlet Katy B declaring her love for the legend.
This week she said, "I would love to duet with a hologram of Elvis Presley, I used to be obsessed with Elvis when I was like seven or eight, it was really weird. I had all his videos and stuff. I didn't collect memorabilia or anything I just used to watch Fun in Acapulco about 10 times a day."
Born in 1989 Katy B, is a English R&B singer-songwriter who has received nominations at both the UK Digital Music Awards and the MOBO Awards. She was also nominated for Best Push Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2011.

UK Elvis Album STILL HOLDS UK Top Five!: As EIN predicted below, Elvis held his UK Number 5 spot last week and now continues his great chart run still at Number 5 in the UK LP charts.
Top 30 UK Album Chart for W/E 30th November, 2013:
1. Swings Both Ways - Robbie Williams
2. The Marshall Mathers Lp 2 - Eminem
3. Shangri La - Jake Bugg
4. Loved Me Back To Life - Celine Dion
5. The Nation's Favourite Elvis Songs - Elvis Presley
Lady Gaga, last weeks #1, is already down to #9.
It is worth noting that Cliff Richard is at #13 while very surprisingly The Beatles are down at #26 with an album many thought would get to number one and beat our Elvis.
This is an excellent result for Elvis. The public has really taken to this one despite there being not one single new track on it.

'Echoes Of Aloha' New Import CD: Audionics will release their 5th CD of this year early December. It is a kind of sequel to "ALOHA JERRY” CD (Audionics 2013-01-2) - once again dedicated to the eighth Las Vegas season - February 13th, 1973 dinner show.
These recordings were captured almost a month to the day of the ”Aloha From Hawaii” satellite broadcast, and it’s inevitable to make some comparisons. It’s been said that Elvis was depressed about having to return to Las Vegas again following the huge success of the broadcast, but this newly discovered recording does not bear that out at all.
Elvis sounds more relaxed and more at ease on this recording, and there is an intimacy present on this recording that is missing from ”Aloha”. It’s interesting to note that many of the songs that he performed during the satellite show are missing here. In fact, the layout of the show is somewhat reminiscent of the structure of the Las Vegas shows in August 1970, with a strong mix of recent material and Elvis classics.
All recordings presented on this CD are previously unreleased. The
February 13th, 1973 dinner show is completely new even to die-hard Elvis fans. It was never in circulation and it is taken from an original ”booth recording, ” made from a booth close to the stage and PA speakers. It is remarkably superior to usual audience tapes and soundwise fully comparable with our "Aloha, Jerry” (Audionics 2013-01-2), February 23, 1973 Closing Night.
As a bonus, more of soundboard tracks from the Dinner Show of February 10th, 1973 are included.
This release is presented in deluxe digipack with live and candid photos taken during January / February ’73 Vegas season and with appropriate liner notes.
Go HERE for more details and tracklist.

November 1976 Jerry Lee Lewis arrested outside Graceland: November 23, 1976 at precisely 2.50am Jerry Lee Lewis pulled up to Graceland in a new Lincoln Continental. Lewis was armed, angry, and obviously inebriated -- a dangerous combination for a man mere mortals call "The Killer."
"He was outta his mind, man," recalled Graceland gatekeeper Harold Loyd. "Jerry Lee was screamin', hollerin', and cussin'. `Get on the goddamn phone. I know you got an intercom system. Call up there and tell Elvis I wanna visit with him. Who the hell does he think he is? Tell him the Killer's here to see him."
Police Officer Kirkpatrick had to pull him outta the car. Jerry Lee had tried to hide his pistol by puttin' it in between his knee and the door. But when Kirkpatrick opened the door, the damn gun fell out onto the floorboard and it was cocked and loaded.

UK Elvis/Susan Boyle Duet 'X' Factor Debut: Looks like Susan Boyle will be performing 'O Come All Ye Faithfull' during the UK 'X Factor' TV show on the day of its release - Sunday, 8th December. Hopefully this will help get the "new" Elvis duet up to to No.1 for Christmas.
The singer has launched a competition to find a gifted group to help her sing her version of Christmas carol 'Oh Come All Ye Faithful' for a performance which will be aired globally through YouTube.com and social media websites.
Like it or not, the new 'O Come All You Faithful' duet has the chance of becoming Elvis' 22nd UK No.1.

You can see the new official duet video HERE on YouTube.

'The On Stage Season' FTD Review: After their excellent "On Stage" multi-track Classic album, FTD now continues their look at this excellent season with the first official release of Elvis' 1970 Opening and Closing night performances.
"If I appear a little shaky that's because I'm a little shaky!" - Elvis, Las Vegas Jan 26th 1970.
On Opening Night Elvis introduced ten "brand new" songs to his Vegas setlist and what a treat it is to hear these for the first time live.

Red Robinson Needs Your Vote!: Red Robinson was a great fan and early supporter of The King and is part of Canadian musical history, but now there has been a new decision to drop the name of  Canada's rock n’ roll legend from Coquitlam's 'Red Robinson Show Theatre'. He deserves better than this
Robinson got his start spinning records in Vancouver while still in high school in 1954. The first radio announcer to consistently play rock n’ roll in Canada, he introduced legendary acts like Elvis Presley and the Beatles.
An online petition “Save the name ‘Red Robinson Theatre,'" has already garnered hundreds of votes in two days. The vast majority believe taking his name off the marquee just seven years after it opened is an insult.

Wednesday 20 November 2013 - - - - EPE SOLD! - - - -
Elvis Presley Enterprises Bought by Authentic Brands Group: The King of Rock 'n' Roll has now joined Marilyn Monroe and Muhammad Ali to comprise a powerful group ABG owned Iconic Brands.
Authentic Brands Group (ABG) announced today the acquisition of EPE Inc assets from the CORE Media Group. Following the acquisition, ABG will own and manage, in partnership with the Presley family and Joel Weinshanker, Chairman and Founder of National Entertainment Collectibles Association (NECA), the intellectual property associated with one of the most widely recognized and beloved entertainers in the world.
"We are honored to welcome Elvis into the ABG brand portfolio and look forward to working alongside the Presley family and the team at EPE to increase Elvis' popularity and fan base worldwide," said Jamie Salter, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ABG.
"This is an exciting day for Elvis and his fans," said Priscilla Presley. "We look forward to working with the ABG team to further promote the legacy of Elvis. This is the opportunity the family has been envisioning to expand the Graceland experience and enhance Elvis' image all over the world."
Lisa Marie Presley noted, "While I will continue to own Graceland and Elvis' original artifacts, we are looking forward to working with

our new partners to continue the growth and expansion we have been working towards. The licensing and merchandising aspect of this business is not to be confused with the fact that the property will always remain with me and my family. However, this is a great partnership for our family and Elvis fans worldwide."
EIN notes that the previous plans to refurbish and modernize the Graceland as a bigger tourist attraction had been put on hold, but they could be renewed now that the sale is complete.
In connection with the acquisition, ABG will assume the global rights to a vast library of photographic imagery, including artwork, album covers and movie posters; video and audio assets, including television appearances and music specials; Elvis' name and likeness; and other assets, including the rights to major Elvis
themed events such as Elvis Week, an international celebration of Elvis' life and legacy.
In connection with the transaction, Joel Weinshanker will acquire the rights to the management of Graceland operations, Elvis' home in Memphis, Tennessee, with ABG and the Presley family as partners. Graceland recently captured the #1 spot on USA Today and 10Best's "Best Iconic American Attractions".
"It is with great honor, and a profound sense of responsibility that we assume ownership of the Graceland operations," said Weinshanker. "We will usher in a new era of an enhanced Graceland experience, run for the fans, by a fan. Graceland is Elvis Presleys' castle, and I look forward to helping take this global landmark to new and exciting heights. We look forward to continuing to give visitors to Graceland, whether
online or in–person, whether their first visit or their 500th, a world class experience."
ABG brands already include Marilyn Monroe, Juicy Couture, Judith Leiber, Adrienne Vittadini, Taryn Rose, Hickey Freeman, TapouT and Sportcraft. They now add Muhammad Ali and Elvis.
Based in New York ABG's mission is to further enhance brand equity through partnering with best-in-class licensees and retailers.

New UK Elvis Album HOLDS UK Top Five!: As EIN predicted below, Elvis held his UK Number 5 spot this week. The official UK Top Album Charts + sales figures for W/E 17th November, 2013 were ..
1. Artpop - Lady Gaga (65,608)
2. The Marshall Mathers Lp 2 - Eminem (53,080)
3. Loved Me Back To Life - Celine Dion (52,856)
4. Salute - Little Mix (35,281)
5. Nation's Favourite Elvis Songs - Elvis Presley (34,489)
... and below the top ten The Beatles new entry...
12. On Air: Live At The BBC Vol 2 - The Beatles (20,140)
EIN contributor Brian Quinn in the UK notes... Realistically Elvis' new album is not going to get any higher up the charts. It must be remembered that major new releases come out every week vying for the top spot with the artists getting huge publicity via TV advertising and live appearances on various TV shows. There are three new album releases vying for the top spot this week coming from Robbie Williams, Jake Bugg and JLS. It is however a special week in that
whoever lands the No.1 will get the honour of the 1000th No.1 UK album. It is however a great shame that it will not be Elvis as he actually got that honour for the 1000th UK #1 single with 'One Night' his 20th No.1. Doing the double would have been great.
The album has done really well selling over 50,000 copies and all we can hope for now is that it will be a steady seller leading up to Christmas. I suspect many copies will end up as Xmas presents.
The main point that must be made is that the public's exposure to the TV Programme, together with the album's high chart position, has done Elvis' reputation no end of good and long may it continue.

# 40. An American Trilogy

Also the following rose from 55 to 34 on the UK Music Video Chart:
- The Elvis Collection (Warner Home Video).
All due, no doubt, to the showing of 'The Nations Favourite Elvis Song' TV Show.

'Love Me Tender' Debut 57 Years ago: On this weekend, November 15, 1956, Elvis Presley made his film debut with the premiere of “Love Me Tender” in New York City.
Outside the theatre a giant Elvis poster was unveiled to screams of his adoring fans. Throughout the movie's showing Elvis' fans shrieked so loudly that few patronscould hear any dialogue and then sobbed at Elvis' on-screen death.
This was Elvis' first movie and he received only third billing even though he was the major, perhaps only, attraction. The movie raked in US$1 million in the first three days of release and grossed over $9 million worldwide. Elvis' mother Gladys was very proud of her son but so upset that his character had died at end that he promised her that he would never be killed in another movie again, and never was.

Updated - 'The Nation's Favourite Elvis Song' Review: "The TV special was like a sprinkling of magical dust in the eyes and ears of a nation".
EIN's friend in the UK "Suds" offered up some more interesting thoughts about the recent Elvis TV special....
..... When was the last time we heard Elvis referred to on national TV as a “master”. That’s what the continuity announcer said.
I especially liked some of the comments about Elvis.
“Magnificent piece of showmanship” - Michael Ball
“If that was only at No.15, what was even higher?” - Zoe Ball referring to "An American Trilogy”.
“It proves he had the power of an opera singer” - Michael Buble
“Naked genius”  - Bill Kenwright on “Are You Lonesome Tonight”
“By covering Elvis, it educates people to how great Elvis was”  - Gareth Gates
“You can’t put boundaries on the man. He could do whatever he wanted”  - Suzy Quatro.

New Elvis Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Exhibit: A little slice of royalty has been carved out for the King of Rock when the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland, Ohio, honours Elvis Presley with a special exhibit 'A New Side Of Elvis' featuring highlights from his fabulous career.
The exhibit, which opens Nov. 29 (the day after Thanksgiving), will present several items from Presley's Graceland mansion and will focus on his years in the Army as well as his famed comeback TV concert performance in 1968. This concert, among other things, is well-known for the stunning white suit Presley wore - including for the show-stopping "I Can Dream" and which is included in the exhibit.
More than 40 artifacts are on loan from Graceland including a 1975 custom-made "SuperTrike" motorcycle, the rehearsal schedule from his famed 1971 Lake Tahoe performances, and a wallet-sized Army induction portrait from Fort Chaffee, Ark., where he reported for basic training in 1958.
Presley's status as a rock and roll icon is singular. Writer Lester Bangs may have said it best when he quipped: “I can guarantee you one thing - we will never again agree on anything as we agreed on Elvis.”

'Living From Day To Day, Chasing A Dream' New Import CD: Straight Arrow has announced a new 2CD release featuring both the Dinner and Midnight Shows February 22, 1973 in Las Vegas. In addition there’s included parts of the Dinner Show on February 21.
The February 22, 1973 D/S and M/S are taken directly from original "booth recording tapes". This kind of recordings was made from a booth or table placed at the edge of the stage, close to PA speakers, by someone who was a part of the organization. Unlike standard audience recordings, where the recorder had to be hidden often muffling the sound, booth recordings were made by someone who was known by Elvis’ security force, and consequently did not have to worry about concealing the microphone. The sound quality of such tapes is noticeably superior compared to the typical audience recording.
For the February 22, 1973 recordings, a BASF Chromdioxide hifi Compact Cassette was used. The dinner show was recorded on the A-side and the Midnight show on the B-side. The February 22, 1973 D/S is previously unreleased. There is a bad sounding version taken from a different source tape in circulation, wrongly dated as the February 23, 1973 Dinner show.
The February 22, 1973 M/S was previously released from an inferior audience recorded source. This CD has nothing to do with Straight Arrow’s 'booth tape' version. Unfortunately, the person who recorded Feb. 22, 1973 M/S stopped his recorder during Jackie Kahane‘s pre-program and switched it on only near the end of 'C. C. Rider'. Instead of splicing the 'booth tape' with the substandard audience recorded version of the same show, we decided to use another booth tape from our vaults – the February 21, 1973 Dinner Show (recorded by same person as the Feb. 22 shows) to fill the missing part.
The sound was transferred using standard 24-bit processing and professional Tascam equipment. Every second was digitally restored to achieve optimal listening pleasure. We hope you enjoy the results. Digitally remastered in November 2013

President Bill Clinton / Elvis letter Re-listed on Ebay: Knowing that President Clinton was a long time avid fan of Elvis and his music, Marty sent him an interesting story about Elvis suitable for framing. Because of Elvis' interest in supporting Presidents, Marty also felt had Elvis lived he would have especially liked Clinton knowing that Clinton liked and played his music.
The President was nice enough to send Marty a nice signed letter thanking him and also noting that he was, as he put it, "a big fan of the King".
A President Clinton "generic" autograph is noted as being worth $500 upwards - and so an original letter where he discusses Elvis should surely be priceless!
Marty has had this letter in his special lock box and has now decided to offer it on eBay. It will also include the original Presidential envelope it came in. A letter of authenticity from Marty will also be included.
This is what is written on the original letter..............
Dear Marty:
Before anytime passes, I want to thank you very much for sharing your story with me.
I really appreciate your kind letter. As you know, I'm a big fan of The King, and it's always a pleasure to hear about his life and those he spent it with.
All the best to you.
Sincerely
Bill Clinton.

Elvis' southern drawl wins "sexiest" accent in USA!: Elvis Presley may forever be known as the king of rock n' roll, and a new survey helps point to one of the reason's why; the Southern accent has been voted the most sexy in North America, according to online matchmakers Cupid.com.
In a questionnaire released by the dating website, 36.5 percent of the 2,000 men and women surveyed said those from the South, such as Elvis, have by far the most attractive accent in the U.S. and Canada.
And winner of the most unattractive twang?
Mid-Atlantic accents, from states such as Pennsylvania and Delaware, are the country's least favourite, garnering only four percent of votes.
In between the two New Yorkers came second with the New Jersey accent at fifth place with seven percent of votes.

Elvis LA Burger King - 'Don't Believe The Hype'!: Other Elvis sites have been running the story that Burger King bosses want to turn rock ’n roll legend Elvis Presley’s Beverly Hills home into a posh restaurant
And that they reckon converting the $8million mansion into an upmarket eatery will pull in music fans.
However EIN is sure this is a media beat-up only to publicise their new sandwich "The Big King" their new attempt to rival McDonald's "Big Mac".
While sources claim bosses at the fast-food giant have made a “serious offer” for the 5,367sq ft Elvis Presley Estate in Los Angeles’ exclusive 90210 district EIN doesn't believe the hype as the position of Elvis' Hillcrest home would be the last place that would get a food licence.
Burger King chiefs have supposedly offered the current owner just £3m for the house for a “quick deal” and have pledged to “preserve all residential historical value” of Elvis' Hollywood Hills home.
But Peter Morton, 66, co-owner of the Hard Rock Cafe, bought the place only last December for $8million and is believed to be holding out in the hope of getting a higher offer.

Updated - 'The Nation's Favourite Elvis Song' Review: EIN contributor Brian Quinn supplied us with his review of last night's UK Elvis special (see below).
.. However the UK Daily Star's journalist Mike Ward was also impressed with the show. He writes.. "The Nation’s Favourite Elvis Song has made me see the light. I'll be honest with you, it’s quite rare for me to experience a blinding epiphany while watching an ITV entertainment show. But that’s pretty much the effect The Nation’s Favourite Elvis Song has had on me. I’m not kidding.
Elvis Presley, it’s finally struck me, in a moment of startling realisation, really was extraordinarily special. His squillions of adoring fans have been right all along. Why has it taken me all this time to twig? What kind of cloth-eared ninny am I?
Watching this Elvis special really has had a powerful effect on me.
In the concert clips, I now see a man with a unique gift for keeping his audience spellbound.
Even at a stage in his career when he could have got away with just going through the motions, he looked as though he was giving it absolutely everything, feeding off the crowd’s adoration. It was as if he wasn’t so much singing the songs as living them, even if it physically hurt..

'She Is The King' Jacqueline Feilich: Elvis Presley tribute artists are legion, female Elvis Presley tribute artists, not so much. That was especially the case when Jacqueline Feilich started out, ''It started because I'm a mad, crazy, obsessed fan of Elvis'' she says. ''I've been like that since I was three years old.''
Things really began to take off at the end of 2006, when she went to an Elvis tribute artist contest in Las Vegas, ''I had nothing to lose.''
She was the only woman there and didn't dress up in a rhinestone jumpsuit like the men - ''I wore an Elvis T-shirt and a pair of jeans'' - and thinks this refusal to attempt an

impersonation helped her to be placed ''a complimentary second''.
Since then she has been invited to sing at Graceland four times and divides her time between Australia and the US. ''I'm definitely not an impersonator, nothing else but a tribute to him.''
Feilich calls Presley ''the King of reinvention'' and says Madonna and Lady Gaga want to take a leaf out of his book. She points out he had a repertoire of nearly 1000 songs that ranged across genres - rock, country, gospel and blues, to name a few, and she likes to explore that repertoire rather than simply concentrate on the well-known hits, such as Suspicious Minds.
She says Presley ''was almost Jesus-like. - Elvis ticked every box. He was a kind-hearted, deeply religious person, good-looking and talented in every way. I couldn't think of a fault,'' she says.
Some women tattoo him on their bodies and some men want to think they are him but Feilich doesn't go to either extreme. ''I'm not nutty. I wish he was still here,'' she says, ''I just want to sing his songs.''

'The Nation's Favourite Elvis Song' Review: EIN contributor Brian Quinn kindly supplied us with his review of last night's UK Elvis special.
... As an Elvis fan I thought the TV programme was excellent and better than expected. It seemed to fly by especially with the invasive interruption of advertisements. The sound was excellent and most important there were no impersonators involved. It was rapid moving and to the point. Put over in a documentary style it featured all the main points one would want featuring including his UK record of No.1 Hits and his one billion worldwide record sales making him the best-selling solo artist of all-time.
Of course one can always argue about the one billion figure as they could about the figure of 20 million  given for the worldwide sales of ‘Its Now Or Never’. The countdown went from 20 to 1 with the ultimate winner being ‘Always On My Mind’ just narrowly beating out ‘Suspicious Minds’. I do feel that Priscilla may have had the final casting vote for this track, however. The twenty tracks featured in countdown order were:
20 King Creole
19 If I Can Dream
18 Don’t Be Cruel
17 Viva Las Vegas
16 Heartbreak Hotel
15 American Trilogy
14 It’s Now Or Never
13 All Shook Up
12 Blue Suede Shoes
11 The Wonder Of You
10 Are You Lonesome Tonight? (including laughing version)
9 Return To Sender
8 Love Me tender
7 Hound Dog
6 Jailhouse Rock
5 A Little Less Conversation (film and remix versions)
4 In The Ghetto
3 Can’t help Falling In Love
(film and ‘live’ versions
2 Suspicious Minds
(Live Version featured)

1 Always On My Mind.

Elvis And The Beatles in UK Chart Battle: The Beatles and Elvis Presley - two of the most successful pop music acts of all time - could fight it out for the number one spot next week in the UK album charts.
The Beatles On Air: Live At The BBC Volume 2, which has 63 tracks and is released on Monday, contains 37 previously unreleased live performances. The new Elvis best-of album, The Nation's Favourite Elvis Songs, was released this week.
History suggests both records will jostle for position in the charts - greatest hits album Elvis The King claimed the top spot in 2007, as did Volume One of the Beatles' BBC Sessions released in 1994.
The trouble is that the Elvis album contains the usual "hit songs" that fans have bought before, whereas The Beatles album contains 23 unreleased recordings.
Securing the number one spot next weekend could be tricky for both acts though, with tough competition from current artists more likely to benefit from digital downloads.
UK journalist Kevin Hughes said, "I think this Elvis Presley album probably will get to number one simply because there's a big
advertising spend, there's a big push from Sony Music for this album, there's an ITV special, fans have been voting for their favourite songs for the TV show and the estate have compiled some of the greatest songs ever recorded - these are some of the greatest songs of all time.
"But with The Beatles, yes it's a bit niche but you have to remember that the last record in 1994 - volume one of these BBC sessions - won a Grammy and was one of the biggest selling releases of that year."
Lady Gaga's fourth studio album Artpop is released on Monday while Eminem's album which went on sale this week - The Marshal Mathers LP 2 - looks like becoming one of the fastest-selling albums of the year.
Elvis currently holds the record for the most Top Ten albums on the UK chart and for the most number one singles in the UK, with 21 hits.
The Beatles are the best-selling band of all time and have had the most number one albums in the UK, with 15.

Elvis Presley's record player in UK auction: A record player belonging to the King is set to be auctioned in Penzance next month.
The record player, a Perpetuum Ebner Musical 5v Luxus, belonged to Elvis Presley while he was stationed in Germany during the early part of his Army Service.
It is set to be sold by David Lay at his Penzance Auction House on December 12 and could fetch anything up to £2,000.
Elvis had gifted the record player to a German woman, Ellen Marschhäuser, who lived in Bad Nauheim, the town where he was staying with his family and entourage.
In early 1959 the woman had helped Presley's father, Vernon, with some German translation and Mr Presley Senior invited her to the Presley apartment in the Hotel Grunewald as a thank you.
She visited the apartment a couple of times and spoke at length with Elvis.
On one occasion there was a party when Elvis played records on
the 5v Luxus and also played his guitar through the amplifier of the record player.
There were frequent parties in the Presley apartment at the Hotel Grunewald and Elvis was actually asked to leave in February 1959 after an increasing number of complaints from other residents.
Soon after this Ellen moved to London to marry her English fiancé, Jim Jenkins, taking the record player with her.
Mr Jenkins said: "We used and enjoyed the record player for a number of years until it developed a fault with the needle which I never got around to mending.
"We retired and moved to Cornwall in 1989. I put the record player in our loft where it remained forgotten until we saw a picture of Elvis with an identical record player in the Daily Mail. Had I not seen that picture I would have eventually thrown it away."

Original Letter From President Bill Clinton Pertaining To Elvis on Ebay: Knowing that President Clinton was a long time avid fan of Elvis and his music, Marty decided to send him an interesting story about Elvis and an item pertaining to the Memphis Mafia that was suitable for framing if the President wanted to hang it in his New York office or in his library in Arkansas.
Marty has had this letter in his special lock box and has now decided to offer it on eBay.  It will also include the envelope it came in that has Clinton's marking on it.

UK 'The Nations Favourite Elvis Songs' already Charting: Although the programme does not to to air in the UK until Friday, Elvis' new UK compilation 'The Nations Favourite Elvis Songs' is already in the charts.
In the UK Midweek Album Charts yesterday (following one day's sale) 'The Nations Favourite Elvis Songs' album entered at No.50. Today it is No.44. It must be remembered that this is without any promotion which does not start in earnest until after the TV programme this Friday. We expect sales to pick up next week but in effect this means that they will have been split over two weeks leading to a lower chart position than would have been the norm.

Elvis Video Shows in Chile Cancelled!: Bad news for Elvis latin-american fans as only two days before the Elvis Video Shows in Chile (yesterday, Sunday night and today Monday 4 November) they have been cancelled by promoter 'Noix'. The TCB Band, the production set-up and possibly Priscilla were already in the country.
According to the press reports, the decision was made because the show's ticket sales failed to meet expectations.
The local Chilean press reports, "following the low ticket sales, the producer was forced to cancel the event, noting that "we extend our apologies to the fans for any inconvenience this might cause." People who purchased tickets will be fully refunded.
Go here for their local news story.
EIN notes that this seems a real shame as the Elvis Video Show has been so popular in Brazil.

"All the King’s Horses" and the Circle G Ranch: Lesley Pilling, founder and coordinator of the 'Save The Circle G Ranch' campaign, has recently done an interview with the 'History On Horseback' magazine. Getting the info about the efforts to save the Circle G ranch out to those outside the Elvis world - the more people who are aware and can become interested and involved, the better.
In the interview Lesley Pilling notes that she believes that Elvis spent his happiest times away from the celebrity circus, with his horses on his ranch, the Circle G.
... Elvis was a very spiritual individual who was constantly searching and learning. He had a deep faith and the Circle G resonated with him for that reason. Even today when you stand and look at that 75 foot white cross that first drew Elvis there you can feel that calm and peace that Elvis did.
Elvis also did a great deal for charity, much of it anonymously. Here at the Circle G Foundation our aim is to continue his charitable and humanitarian legacy at the ranch. At the time of his passing Elvis didn’t own the ranch although we do have documented statements that he continued to visit the property throughout his life and spoke to friends and family about it fondly."
Priscilla Presley has written: “I remember one day I happened to look out of the window. It was twilight. The sky was aglow in misty blue and radiant pink.
There was Elvis walking Rising Sun, his Golden Palomino. I saw them as silhouettes against the darkening sky. Elvis was walking slowly, I could practically hear him breathe. His breath was easy, his body relaxed.
At that moment I was convinced that my husband had actually found peace.”

Lesley Pilling is now  on a quest to bring the place where he was most at home back to life, with the intention of making it a welcoming communal venue for visitors, locals and the disadvantaged.

UK Media gets All-Shook-Up about Elvis: This week’s UK tabloids have kicked off to a good start with plenty of publicity towards this Friday’s 'Nation's Favourite Elvis Song' ITV production.
..  The ITV show counts down the nation's favourite ever ELVIS songs - Which anthem by The King unites Britain with its brilliance like no other? Watch as 20 timeless tunes battle for the prestigious No1 slot.. from the hip-shaking boogie rock of Hound Dog to heartbreaking ballads such as Love Me Tender, everyone has got their own personal favourite Elvis Presley song.
ITV commissioned an exclusive poll to find out, and this feature-length show counts down 20 timeless tunes to the prestigious No1 slot.
"There are so many classics to choose from," says narrator Zoe Ball. "Elvis had a record-breaking 21 UK No 1 hits and is, quite simply, the best-selling solo artist of all time. With a staggering one billion records sold, Elvis didn’t just change music, he was a revolution on legs and a pioneer of the 20th century. His music broke down many barriers."
Born in Tupelo, Mississippi, Elvis Aaron Presley started his career in music a few years after his family moved to Memphis. There he scored his first hit single, That’s All Right, for the legendary Sun Records label in 1954. Elvis’ unique blend of country crooning and rhythm and blues grooves, combined with his good looks and provocative dance moves, made him a cultural icon whose impact was unprecedented.
For two thrilling decades, Elvis released dozens of hit singles and albums for RCA, as well as acting in a string of Hollywood blockbusters. Millions mourned his death from a heart attack in August of 1977, aged just 42.
This 90-minute special interviews Elvis’s friends, loved ones and collaborators, as well as the British artists he influenced. "It wasn’t that I wanted to be like Elvis," says Sir Cliff Richard, "I wanted to wake up and find I actually was Elvis."

Raquel Welch on Elvis: Raquel Welch publicising her 2010 book 'Beyond the Cleavage' recently spoke to Wall Street Journal about her Elvis memories....
Raquel Welch ... I first saw Elvis Presley in concert in 1956, when I was 15 years old. He played the San Diego Arena in the spring, and my family lived in nearby La Jolla. "Heartbreak Hotel" was already a radio hit, and I couldn't get enough of it. Hearing that song was a real turning point for me as a teenager. When I saw him in action, he was mesmerizing. I screamed myself silly.
Something about his voice on that song made me think, "This must be what sex is all about." My girlfriends and I didn't have a lot of experience in that department, but you just knew Elvis had it all.
At the concert, Elvis was dressed in a pair of loose trousers, loafers, a shirt and open jacket. When he moved, he was smoldering. His hair fell over his eyes, his tone was sensual and he put a lot of body into it. His delivery on "Heartbreak
Hotel" was loaded with insinuation. The song was also in a minor key, which always triggered a sexy reaction in me.
When he slipped in those low-register Elvis-isms - you know, the huh-huh thing - it came from his body, not from his head. He had that emotional, erotic intensity that was impossible to resist.
I never imagined when I got to Hollywood in 1964 that my first job would be in an Elvis movie. In Roustabout, I was a day player with one line. I met Elvis briefly on the set, but his hair was sprayed, he was wearing stiff pants and a wimpy windbreaker. I was so disappointed. He wasn't the same guy I saw in concert.
After the shoot, one of his buddies came over and said, "Elvis is having a party at his house. He thought you might like to come by and have some fun." I wondered, "Why couldn't he ask me himself?" I didn't go.
Whenever I hear "Heartbreak Hotel" now, it takes me back. It reminds me of what a force Elvis was. He still is today. Sometimes I get misty-eyed over the whole thing.

Elvis and Subo Christmas duet - HEAR IT NOW!:Like it or not, the new 'O Come All You Faithful' duet has the chance of becoming Elvis' 22nd UK No.1. So grab a chance to listen to it before the Internet police remove it.
With Elvis Presley and Susan Boyle united across time and space, defying all mortal bonds their voices are joined together in song, with a living dead duet of 'O Come All You Faithful'. While some have described it as a travesty and further Elvis exploitation, EIN can only suggest you judge it for yourself.

The UK single is released on 9th December. The 'X' Factor single will not be released until 15th December. Looking likely that Elvis might get his 22nd UK No.1 on 15th December. On such duets both artists are credited with a No.1.

Breaking News From Marty Lacker at the Elvis Wedding Chapel!: "I just got word that former President George W. Bush and his wife Laura have decided after many years of marriage to renew their vows at the Elvis Graceland Chapel in Las Vegas on their anniversary November 18th.  It has been stated that their two daughters, Barbara and Jenna will be in attendance as well as his parents George Sr. and Barbara.  Rumor has it that former Presidents Clinton and Carter may attend along with their wives as well as Mr. & Mrs. Obama.  They specifically said they wanted the Vegas Elvis to remarry them."
---- This is about as true as that bullshit Kanye West and Kim Kardashian will wed there. (see EIN news story below)
I wonder where the hell the media keep getting this crap that connects West, Kardashian and Elvis. First they were going to buy Graceland and live there and now over the top publicity loving Kardashian will forfeit another garish
and luxurious wedding to simply go to the Vegas Chapel???
- Marty Lacker.

EIN sure appreciates Marty's sense of humour and acknowledges that the "West/Kardashian/Elvis" connection is very odd and contrived. However we do find it interesting that a) It appears the super-famous rapper Kayne West is an Elvis fan. b) Kim Kardashian‘s stepdad was married to Linda Thompson. In 2013 it is still a small world with some odd Elvis connections!
Marty notes even more Kardashian/ Elvis connections..
... There is another connection as Priscilla (after splitting with Mike Stone) dated Kim's father, lawyer Robert Kardashian. I met him in Atlanta when they attended a record convention together we sat at the same table during the awards presentation
Also there was Joan Esposito with Kardashian's brother Tom who she is now married to. - Marty

Ginger Alden Autobiography Now on Pre-Order: Elvis Presley’s fiancée and last love, Ginger Alden, will finally publish her much anticipated autobiography "Elvis and Ginger" in 2014. You can now pre-order the book.
She notes, “Elvis, you and I know the truth and unfortunately you’re not here to set the record straight. With this book, I will try to...”
For over three decades Ginger has held the truth of their relationship close to her heart. Now she shares her unique story, and while a lot has been written about the King, the Elvis we meet in this long-anticipated memoir is a revelation.
In her own words Ginger details their whirlwind romance—from first kiss to his stunning proposal of marriage. And for the very first time she talks about the devastating end of it all, and the 80,000 mourners and reporters who descended on Graceland in 1977, exposing Ginger to the reality of living in the spotlight of a short, yet immortal, life.
Above it all, Alden rescues Elvis from the hearsay, rumours, and tabloid speculations of his final year by shedding a frank yet personal light on a very public legend. From a unique and intimate perspective, she reveals the man- complicated, romantic, fallible, and human - behind the enduring myth, a superstar worshipped by millions, and loved by Ginger Alden.
From Berkley publishers, due out August 5, 2014.

EIN wonders, would EPE consider her for Elvis Week 2014?

'Things Get Loose In Tuscaloosa!' New Import: After the release of two essential new soundboard albums in a row (Houston We Have A Problem and The Creeping Crud Express) Audionics is now back with the third soundboard release of the year. This time from June 3rd 1975 8:30 pm, Municipal Auditorium, Tuscaloosa, AL (See Update below)
This which was previously released on the King label as Deep Down South in 1997 but this new release is taken from a different, superior quality tape source which was obtained at the same time as the previously mentioned unreleased soundboards.
Elvis’ show in Tuscaloosa is a real fun concert that is a delight to listen to. His singing is excellent, he’s in a good mood and he clearly loves the interplay with his fans. His setlist during the June 1975 tour was a rather strong one, with a solid mix of classics and more recent numbers. Most of these were performed really well too, and even the oldies were treated with a bit more respect than usual. Keen observers will note that he dropped the tempo a notch or two on songs like All Shook Up and Teddy Bear
/ Don’t Be Cruel. The King was truly back, and he really rocked Tuscaloosa with great dynamic performances like Burning Love, Mystery Train / Tiger Man and, just for tonight, a gorgeous Bridge Over Troubled Water.
This CD is presented in beautifully designed deluxe digi-pak with relevant liner notes and a couple of rare photos as taken on the night. Due to the lack of quality photographs from Tuscaloosa, we also used a few photos from the Huntsville, AL, May 31st 8:30 pm show. Elvis only wore the Red Eagle (or Red Phoenix) jumpsuit on these two nights.
We know what you want to ask now…. ‘Is this really a significant sound upgrade?’, and to that we can only answer wholeheartedly, yes!
Note: Audionics is planning a special release before the end of this year, with more previously unissued material. While the other import guys appear to be in hibernation, we are only just warming up! You can always count on Audionics to deliver the goods.
Go to EIN's 'All the CD News 2013' for more details and full tracklist
PS: EIN thanks Martin S (a Uni of Alabama graduate) who noted that Elvis in fact performed in the Memorial Coliseum that night and not the "Municipal Auditorium."
The Auditorium only held 3,500 people, it was replaced by the much larger Memorial Coliseum (15,000) in 1968.
Interestingly the CD's sleeve artwork will include an original ticket stub where the venue is correctly noted.

Latest Billboard Album Charts: Sadly Elvis had no albums on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart for w/e 2nd November, 2013. Oddly it is the old 'It's Christmas Time' compilation charting highest rather than the new 2013 compilation 'Merry Christmas...Love, Elvis' available at $7.
On the Holiday Album Chart Elvis had the following entries:
- 'It's Christmas Time' - 8
- 'Merry Christmas Love, Elvis' - 10
- 'Blue Christmas' - 46
On the Music Video Sales Chart Elvis had the following entry:
- 'He Touched Me - The Gospel Music Of Elvis Presley' (Vols. 1 and 2) - 37.
Also 'The Real Elvis' compilation on the Irish charts dropped from #49 to #59.

Elvis News from earlier this week ....
Colonel Parker's Office for Sale On EBay: Colonel Tom Parker's management office on Gallatin Pike in Madison stands as a testament to the old cliché,  "if these walls could talk.” As confined within a cluster of unassuming stone buildings, the walls would tell of unconventional business dealings, old venues booked, and colourful stories of how a Dutch immigrant managed the phenomenal career of Elvis Presley the most significant and charismatic recording artist to ever grace a stage.
Today the property located in an unassuming suburb on the outskirts of Nashville, is available to the highest bidder on ebay.
Now a law office, Parker once brokered some of the biggest deals ever made in the entertainment business at the stone residence making it a “holy grail” for the most discriminating “collector” and Elvis Presley / music aficionado.
Parker maintained the offices even after Elvis dominated the entertainment world. Meanwhile, he also managed such legendary
Country & Western recording artists as Eddy Arnold and Hank Snow. Photographs and books document their casual "drop ins" to see the Colonel. The home has been well preserved over the years, decades from 1956 and 1957, when Elvis would swing by following recording sessions at RCA or en-route back to Memphis, to Audubon Drive or his new Graceland mansion.
Just minutes from downtown Nashville, the Grand Ole Opry and Hank Snow's Rainbow Ranch in an adjacent neighbourhood, the property remains extremely well maintained, having retained MUCH of the original 1950's charm, as noted in the knotty pine paneling, entertainment bar, and pink-and-black and aqua tiled bathrooms.
The property will be showcased on ebay with strict bidding criteria, starting the second week of October. Private tours will be available
to a select qualified few during the duration of the sale. The property is zoned for multiple use.
When it was first sold, a substantial amount of Col Parker's Elvis Memorabilia was found in the basement and later collected by Graceland. Sadly it is doubtful that any Elvis precious possessions are now hidden it its walls.
Go HERE to Ebay for details and to purchase!-Starting bid $100,000.

Jackson reclaims the No.1 spot from his friend Elizabeth Taylor who last year earned $210 million due to lucrative auctions of her jewellery and clothes.
Back up at Number Two is Elvis with an estimated $55 million in posthumous earnings. This is a similar amount flowing in to EPE's coffers as in the last two years - even with the closure of his Cirque Du Soleil show in Vegas.
The King of Rock n’ Roll may have taken a back seat to the King of Pop the past few years but Elvis' estate is still earning steadily thanks to his eternally popular image, the internationally touring video-concerts and the stream of revenue from Graceland and the ever-expanding EPE licensed products.
Top five Forbes magazine Top-Earning Dead Celebrities.
1. Michael Jackson $160 million
2. Elvis Presley $55 million
3. Charles Schulz ('Peanuts' creator) $37 million.
4. Elizabeth Taylor $25 million.
5. Bob Marley $18 million.
Interestingly Madonna is the top earning living Celebrity taking $125 million last year, less than the late Michael Jackson!
As Gore Vidal once noted, "Death is a good career move"!
Elvis left the building 36 years ago - will Michael Jackson still be in the list in 30 years time? - EIN truly has its doubts.

'Elvis At Stax' - NOT Deleted: Despite the news stories being posted around various Elvis websites, 'Elvis At Stax' is definitely NOT deleted. EIN wonders why webmasters don't check stories such as this before posting this kind of news.
Sony/FTD's Roger Semon confirmed to EIN that 'Elvis At Stax' is definitely not deleted and that sales are good.
It appears that the erroneous news came from another Australian Elvis website who is trying to sell 'Elvis At Stax' to fans for close to twice the price that you can buy it in Australia's local record stores! (If you live in Australia click here to buy it for only $33 from Sanity or ask at your local JBHiFi)
While it is true that all of Sony Australia's 'Elvis At Stax' local stock is depleted due to its popularity and it being all shifted out to shops, their Director of Commercial Music informed EIN that "Sony Australia prefers to order what people really need - but we can still order more copies in for any orders via our Indent service."

Media has noted that, "Kanye is a big Elvis fan and he thinks it would be fun to get married in a chapel. It was his suggestion and he was surprised when Kim said it was a great idea. UK's 'The Nation’s Favourite Elvis Song' Programme Details: This UK 90-minute special tells the story behind the 20 greatest songs ever recorded by Elvis Presley and reveals The Nation’s Favourite Elvis Song. Being shown on UK's ITV channel - Friday 8 Nov 2013, 9.00pm - 10.30pm
Elvis Presley changed the music world forever and was one of the most significant cultural icons of the 20th century. He holds the record for Most Hit Singles on the US Chart and Most Hit Albums on the UK Chart, and his legacy continues to influence generations.
Mixing rich archive footage and home videos with new interviews, the documentary paints a picture of the man behind the music, telling the story of how these timeless songs came about and what impact they had on the world.
The show features different generations of international pop stars and musicians influenced by Elvis including Michael Bublé, Sir Cliff Richard, Suzi Quatro, Michael Ball, Englebert Humperdink and Cerys Matthews.
Priscilla Presley, Elvis’ ex-wife is also featured exclusively in the documentary, giving a rare interview about the King and his music.
Priscilla says: “When Elvis sang a song that he loved, he’d get lost. He’d forget people were around. You’re witnessing a moment, you almost feel like you’re invading his privacy.”
Sir Cliff Richard admits: “It wasn’t just that I wanted to be like Elvis, I wanted to wake up and find I was Elvis.” Global superstar Michael Bublé said: “God kissed his throat, truly.” Musical theatre star Michael Ball said: “No one makes a party rock like Elvis.”
The programme also hears from those who worked with Elvis, from songwriters to backing singers and session musicians.
The documentary ventures into Elvis’ former home in Memphis, Graceland, following in the footsteps of nearly 20 million visitors, to see how popular the King remains to this day.
The 20 classic Elvis tracks featured in the show have been selected in consultation with EPE based on record sales, cultural impact and significance in Elvis’s career. The order was voted for by a large, representative panel of ITV viewers from across the country.
All the songs from the programme are to feature on a brand new compilation album, ‘The Nation’s Favourite Elvis Songs’, released on 4 November 2013 from Sony Music.

Marty Lacker on 'Elvis The Seeker': Marty Lacker wrote to EIN to present his thoughts on the new book (see news story below) 'Elvis The Seeker'.
Marty Lacker writes.... "I read the article about the new Elvis Seeker book, are you sure the author isn't Larry Geller using an alias! This has all of his California Cult Crap that he espouses all over it.
Don't misunderstand, Elvis was a spiritual person but as a Christian not as a disciple of Geller's Far Eastern Spiritual nonsense.
First of all, what a HUGE exaggeration in saying Elvis read thousands of books on spirituality when at the most it was ten and that's stretching it.  They were books fed to him by Geller, who both Elvis, I and a few others suspected he had ulterior motives in getting Elvis hooked on that crap and in fact Geller revealed part of what he was up to while we were on the bus travelling to Hollywood in the 60's. For which I had to set Geller straight on because Elvis was put in an embarrassing position when Geller said what he did.  That's not just my opinion, Elvis stated that later when we all stopped at a motel to get some sleep. Elvis' head got so screwed up by all that junk that Parker finally talked Elvis into getting rid of Geller and burn the books in 1967.  As for Elvis' so-called epiphany in Arizona, all it was was a cloud formations that looked like famous people including himself which means a total of ZERO importance.  I hate to say this but I do from personal experience in taking them, pills make you see things and interpret them in the way you want them to.

For whatever reason, Elvis took Geller back full-time in late '76, not '72 as Geller likes to tell people. Having said all this, I have always thought Geller was a nice guy and I wish him no ill-will, I just don't like what he did to Elvis. I nicknamed him The Swami.
As for this book, it seems to me this guy Tillery read some of Geller's stuff and sat down at a computer and embellished and exaggerated much of it.

Elvis believed in God very deeply even though he didn't go to church. He didn't go for two reasons, one he didn't want the attention put on him by the church goers and taken away from the services as it would have been. Secondly, he was upset and disheartened by the preachers because he said every time he saw them they had their hand out wanting money and like a few of us, he didn't believe religion was about money.
Elvis gave to charity and he did it the right way, anonymously.
- Thousands of spiritual books--MY ASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Elvis Inspired Scottish Trust Receives Royal Seal of Approval: The Elvis inspired ‘Symphony of Dreams’ Charitable Trust in Glasgow, Scotland, has received the Royal Seal of Approval as the charity is recognised by The Queen with this prestigious Award.
As a child, artist Linda Ann McConnell (author of The Dreamer, Memphis Lullaby) became so acquainted with her mum’s record collection from the 1950s that American blues and rock and roll music became the soundtrack of her childhood. This created a musical landscape which defined her art and established a creative path which would lead her on a journey in different artforms and inspired the creation of a charity, Elvis Presley became her first muse.
Linda Ann says, "Elvis' voice was the first poetry I had ever heard. His song was the first I ever sang too. His music, the first I had ever danced to. I was five years old when I first saw him. I saw my dreams in Elvis Presley. My dream was to meet ‘The King.’ Unfortunately my dream would never come true... so I founded The ‘Symphony of Dreams’ Charitable Trust in 2000 to try to help other’s make their ‘musical dreams’ come true, especially the dreams to meet musical heroes.
In 2008 I read in Larry Geller’s Leaves of Elvis Garden book that Elvis had said, "I wanna start a charity I would love to do somethin’ for kids who are sufferin’ an’ have incurable diseases." I hope Symphony answered that dream in some way?"
Her Majesty the Queen was gracious to confer the ‘Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Award for Voluntary Service’ on 2nd June 2013 upon the Trust in recognition of outstanding voluntary service. The Trust has received the Award for making

‘musical dreams’ come true since the year 2000 for people of all generations from the city of Glasgow with life-shortening conditions, are chronically sick, disabled, disadvantaged or who may suffer from the effects of poverty. It does this by granting a ‘musical dream.’ From the Founder’s one dream the charity has granted over 100 individual ‘musical dreams’ and created over ten unique group ‘How Great Thou Art music projects’ for over 1000 disadvantaged beneficiaries designed to inspire musical dreams and musical aspirations
The Queen’s Award was presented at the City Chambers on 30 August 2013. In her speech Linda Ann McConnell noted, "This is the greatest honour for The Symphony of Dreams Trust….. and one of the best moments of my life… Thank you for sharing this moment with me.
When I was a child I was a dreamer. When I was five years old my dream was to meet Elvis Presley. Sadly, my dream would never come true… So I created ‘The Symphony of Dreams Trust’ to try to help others make their dreams come true… especially the dreams to meet musical heroes…
So tonight I would like to thank ‘the King’ and ‘the Queen.’"

'The Seeker King' New Book: In his new book 'The Seeker King: A Spiritual Biography of Elvis Presley' - published this month - author Gary Tillery explores the an alternative side of the King, as a seeker eager to grasp life's secret meanings and to explore a whole range of spiritual paths.
Gary Tillery presents a coherent view of Elvis’ thoughts through such anecdotes and other recorded facts. We learn, for instance, that Elvis read thousands of books on religion; that his crisis over making bimbo movies like Girl Happy led him to writers such as Gurdjieff, Krishnamurti, and Helena Blavatsky; and that, while driving in Arizona, an epiphany he had inspired him to learn Hindu practice. Elvis came to believe that the Christ shines in everyone and that God wanted him to use his light to uplift people. And so he did. Elvis’ excesses were as legendary as his generosity, yet, despite his lethal reliance on drugs, he remained ever spiritually curious. At one concert a woman in the audience once handed Elvis a crown saying, "You’re the King." "No, honey," Elvis replied. "There is only one king — Jesus Christ. I’m just a singer."
The author notes that when he started researching the spiritual life of Elvis he had no idea that Elvis had explored such unfamiliar terrain investigating hundreds of figures associated with the "New Age" movement that began in the Sixties. Elvis' exploration led to a dramatic revelation along an Arizona highway in 1965, and he continued his search, in spite of the ups and downs of his enthralling life, until the very moment of his death in 1977.
This intimate, objective portrait inspires new admiration for the flawed but exceptional man who said, "All I want is to know and experience God. I’m a searcher, that’s what I’m all about."

Lisa Marie Confirms new Elvis Presley Movie: In a recent discussion with the media, Lisa Marie Presley confirmed that talks for a big screen film about the life of her father Elvis have begun and she is all for a credible new biopic.
Without her naming the production it is likely to be 'Last Train to Memphis' which is in pre-production for Fox 2000 with rumoured ('Marley'/'Last King of Scotland') director Kevin MacDonald. Based on the 1995 Peter Guralnick biography, the film chronicles Presley’s early years and his transformation from a high school kid to an overnight sensation credited with ushering in a radical new era in music.
Mick Jagger and Victoria Pearman will produce through their Jagged Films banner along with Steven Bing, who will produce through his Shangri-La shingle. John Fusco is adapting the script.
Jagger has been championing musical biopics lately, clearly a natural fit for the seasoned rocker and he’s also producing a James Brown biopic starring Chadwick Boseman.

Forty years ago Elvis and Priscilla Divorce: Forty years ago on October 9, 1973, Elvis and Priscilla Beaulieu Presley's six-year marriage officially came to an end: their divorce became finalised at the LA Superior Courthouse in Santa Monica.
The marriage, Elvis' one and only, which also produced his one and only child, Lisa Marie was marred by numerous accounts of infidelity and discord. And this tempestuous time, which left Elvis in a broken emotional state, was captured on record in an often overlooked song released by the King.
'Separate Ways', recorded in March 1972 as things started to fall apart, is by no means unknown to Elvis fans at large and it was certified gold in the US. However, it's the B-side of that single which became the better-known Elvis hit, the country ballad 'Always on My Mind' charting Top Ten in Europe.
While both songs are broodingly morose, 'Separate Ways' which details the effects of divorce on a couple's young child, contains particularly heart-ripping lyrics such as "Some day when she's older, maybe she will understand/Why her mom and dad are not together/The tears that she will cry when I have to say goodbye/Will tear at my heart forever."
Although some critics over the years have taken issue with the song's
overall arrangement the general consensus is that the pain in Elvis' vocals is extraordinarily genuine.
The deeply personal feel to 'Separate Ways' comes in part from co-writer Red West, one of Presley's closest friends since high school who worked as a bodyguard and was a member of Presley's infamous Memphis Mafia. West, who began penning the lyrics with his own marital issues in mind, decided midway through the composition that it was pertinent to Elvis and tailored the song to the Presleys' separation.
According to co-writer Richard Mainegra, West was determined the song was a good fit for Elvis, despite Mainegra's protests that the superstar would not want to spotlight what was already a very public situation. However, the King did cut the song, much to Mainegra's surprise, along with 'Always on My Mind' at roughly the same time.
West agrees that the song triggered an authentic catharsis for his friend: the pain you're hearing is real.
Red West said that the songs definitely got to him, Elvis told him at the recording session, "Man, you're killing me with these songs."
Go HERE for EIN's interview special with Red West.

Plenty of EIN readers have pre-ordered the book and want to know more.
What format does the book take, was Felton Jarvis a good producer, was Colonel Parker good or bad, what was Elvis' worst record, Elvis' most overlooked record, did 'Do The Clam' really chart higher than 'Kentucky Rain' ....

'The Nations Favourite Elvis Songs' UK New CD: To coincide with the ITV Programme (date not yet set) SONY UK will release single and double CD versions of the album entitled 'The Nations Favourite Elvis Songs' on 4th November, 2013 as follows. The single disc will retail at £10.94 and the double CD will retail at £11.74.
The Nation’s Favourite Elvis Song will be a 90 minute special to air later this year on ITV telling the stories behind the 20 greatest songs ever recorded by the King of Rock’n'Roll from Heartbreak Hotel to In The Ghetto, It’s Now or Never to An American Trilogy.
As well as hearing from Priscilla Presley and different generations of pop stars and musicians influenced by Elvis, the show will also feature those who worked with Elvis from the 50s through to the 70s – from songwriters to backing singers, producers to session musicians.
- As EIN contributor Brian Quinn notes, there are some fantastic tracks chosen though nothing out of the ordinary, and I am sure it will chart well. However Sony have yet again lost the opportunity of introducing the general public to some ‘relatively’ unheard of gems.
