'Endless Summer Festival' New Import CD: Out soon is the new Straight Arrow double-digipak CD release 'Endless Summer Festival', featuring the August 22, 1973 Dinner & Midnight performances. Both shows are taken from original "booth recordings" taped by the same person. The sound quality is far superior to the usual audience recordings. The year's journey from Hawaii to Nevada was almost at its end on August 22, 1973. That Wednesday night, Elvis delivered two professional, sold-out performances for the faithful at the Las Vegas Hilton with a mix of the old and new, including a stunning, yet-to-be recorded cover of Richard Harris' 1971 single "My Boy." After the final Hilton show on September 3, bass player Emory Gordy would leave to return to the more creative studio environs of Nashville, Presley would fire Col Parker, Priscilla would leave for good, and Elvis himself would nearly leave the land of the living. It was a long, long way down from that worldwide broadcast in Honolulu on January 14, but the man would survive, somehow, and return to sing his soul that December in Memphis.
It should be noted that neither of these superb-quality, off-line concert
recordings have been previously issued.
Both shows are completely new, even to die-hard Elvis fans. They were never in circulation, in any form. Enjoy the music!

'At Dinner In Vegas' & 'Back On Track In Vegas' New Import CDs: Touchdown Productions proudly presents two new audience recorded releases. One of them, 'At Dinner In Vegas' from September 3, 1972 is another totally new show that didn't even circulate on CDR or in any other form. The show was very good, Elvis was in fine form and sang some very fine renditions of "What Now My Love", "I'll Remember You" and also "For The Good Times"! The sound quality is good for this kind of recordings. The CD comes with a beautiful designed 16-pages booklet.

'Back On Track In Vegas' features the midnight show January 28, 1974. Elvis was much more focussed during the first Vegas engagement in 1974 as he had been during the former engagement when Elvis presented himself less professional than in recent years. The midnight show had an interesting song line-up which included some seldom sung songs like "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'", "Spanish Eyes" or "Sweet Caroline". The sound quality is good for this kind of recordings. The CD comes also as usual with a beautiful designed 16-pages booklet including lots of rare pictures from this engagement!

'Sweet Home Alabama' New Import CD: The second release from TNT Records. After a quick sell-out of our first title “Goin´ Back To Houston” and again with a little help from our friends at “Audionics” - probably THE premium and still active label when it comes to rare recordings in best possible sound - we decided once more to pick two shows from “Tour Number 14” (May 30 – June 10, 1975). On this brand new double-cd set you are going to hear both concerts Elvis did right after a couple of great “warm up”-concerts in Huntsville, AL. Elvis then went on to Mobile for Concerts number 6 and 7 in Mobile, June 2, 1975 Afternoon & Eveing Shows. And the town went nuts for The “King”. As a matter of fact everybody had to admit that Elvis might have been the only entertainer in 1975 who was able to play a sold out crowd on a Monday afternoon! Both Mobile-Shows have been released before, the afternoon performance even came out by the legendary “Madison” label. But if you missed the shows first releases from 10 years ago or want them in even better sound than before plus exactly the way they were recorded (without the standard “2001 Theme / See See Rider” opening) you should not miss this great new double cd! You can also expect a great booklet full of photos and information including newspaper articles and original paperwork. Ask your local dealer for it, he should have it right in time around the scheduled release date January 15, 2013 for you!

New Legacy Release for 2014: Elvis 'Recorded Live On Stage In Memphis' celebrates the 40th Anniversary of the King's triumphant 1974 return to his hometown with an expanded 2CD release of the monumental concert experience.
"I wanted to record a live session in my hometown of Memphis…after all, this is where it all started out for me." - Elvis Presley.
This 2CD Legacy Edition will be released on March 18, 2014 and features several tracks left off the original '74 release in addition to a wealth of unreleased material.
Disc 2 of the remastered edition presents a recently located MONO recording of a "test run" performance held for an ecstatic live audience on March 18, 1974, at the Richmond Coliseum two days before his historic return to Memphis. (This has of course been released on the FTD '48 Hours To Memphis'.)
As a special added bonus for Elvis aficionados, Disc 2 includes five intimate tracks (three of them previously unreleased) cut at the RCA Studios in Hollywood on August 16, 1974. Originally intended as reference recordings for an upcoming Las Vegas engagement, the performances, which include "Down In The Alley,"
"Good Time Charlie's Got The Blues," "Softly As I Leave You," "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" and "The Twelfth Of Never", provide a rare fly-on-the-wall glimpse into Elvis' consummate backstage artistry as he prepares these songs for concert. (Previously released on FTD 'From Sunset To Las Vegas')
Elvis Recorded Live On Stage In Memphis will include a 24 page booklet featuring rare photos, previously unseen memorabilia, new liner notes, press clips and more.

The musicians backing Elvis on Elvis Recorded Live On Stage In Memphis include James Burton and John Wilkinson (guitars); Charlie Hodge (guitar and vocals); Duke Bardwell (bass); Ronnie Tutt (drums); Glen D. Hardin (piano); The Sweet Inspirations, J.D. Sumner & The Stamps, Kathy Westmoreland (vocals) with Joe Guercio and his Orchestra.
Elvis Recorded Live On Stage In Memphis will include a 24 page booklet featuring rare photos, previously unseen memorabilia, new liner notes, press clips and more.
Following the artistic success of his 1973 Stax sessions and the global phenomenon of the Aloha From Hawaii Via Satellite album and broadcast the same year, Elvis opened 1974 with a 15 city tour routed to end in Memphis and a state-of-the-art concert recording.
"I wanted to record a live session in my hometown of Memphis," said Elvis at the time. "After all, this is where it all started out for me."
Originally released on vinyl on July 7, 1974, Elvis Recorded Live On Stage In Memphis reached #1 on the Country charts and featured "How Great Thou Art," the track that would bring Elvis his third (and third Gospel) Grammy win.

"ELVIS 1969" New Import box-set: Out soon from Gravelroad Music is "ELVIS 1969" a very limited 3CD box-set. The publicity notes... Elvis-Musically reborn - This release is intended to be a flawless release with the best sounding Elvis of 1969.
We started by going back to the basic recordings of the American sound studio; the edited repaired master tracks without the dubbing done later in Nashville.
The combination package "Elvis In Person & Back in Memphis" was the basic concept, but we wanted more. During the first days of the comeback in Las Vegas in 1969, special RCA presentation box sets were given away. These box sets are very rare and expensive to get hold of. This was the perfect 1969 package idea for this release.
INCLUDED ARE:
- A 28 page full color /b&w photo folio with 28 photos of Elvis in the style of 1969 including rare or unpublished photos.
- A 32 page full color booklet with original articles,
- An interview with Elvis from 1969, co-workers and musicians about recording at the American Sound Studios and performing in Las Vegas.
- Over 60+ photos of Elvis on stage (many from the same show), various are rare or unpublished
- 15 incredible photos of The American Sound Studio with Elvis, again some are rare or unpublished!!
- Previously unreleased versions.
- A rare studio rehearsal of January 1969.
- The unaltered raw audio of the August 24, 1969 M/S soundboard.
- The reproduction slipcase of the famous 1969 presentation box set.
- All recordings in excellent sound quality.
We hope you’ll agree we did our best to respect and honour the original artistic ideas from 1969.
(News, Source;GRM/ElvisInfoNet)
Elvis himself wasn’t all that thrilled with some of the overdubs.
It’s been said that he was very happy with the sound on the acetates that he took home with him, but less so with the final masters.
Elvis heard the dubbed masters at a very late stage and very little could be done.
As an artist, you can’t always be in complete control of your output, and clearly especially when your name is Elvis Presley.
These original master tracks were the result of the joint vision of producer Chips Moman, the musicians and Elvis.
The two most famous songs from these sessions are without a doubt “Suspicious Minds” and “In The Ghetto”.
- - On disc 2 you will find the multi-track live recording of the August 24, 1969 Midnight Show. Thanks to existing tape legends, paperwork and research and the fantastic unprocessed soundboard recording of the same show, we were able to piece this show together as it was originally recorded. We double-checked and compared the whole show second for second with an audience recording of the show that we had recently acquired. There are only three songs borrowed from the dinner show: “I Can’t Stop Loving You”, “Runaway” and “ What’d I Say”, which are 98% identical to the midnight show versions. We used the career dialogue from the August 24, 1969 dinner show. We don’t have this in multi-track quality and therefore we decided to include a third disc with the original raw unrepaired soundboard. As extra bonus, we used a very rare tape of a rehearsal from January 1969 at the American Sound Studios, where we can even hear a glimpse of Roy Hamilton singing!
--- We hope you’ll agree we did our best to respect and honour the original artistic ideas from 1969.

-- Disc three contains the raw unprocessed soundboard recording of the August 24, 1969 M/S, without effects. A significantly different August 24, Midnight Show when compared to the fragmented release over the years of the multi track recording. Edited due to improper language use or running times. Also segments of this show were used to repair or enhance other 1969 and 1970 multi track recordings. This is the real deal, uncut, raw and finally, no tons of reverb as on previous releases of this remarkable show.
Note - Some of the unrepaired, undubbed masters here were recently released by FTD, in some cases with studio banter. Our versions are the repaired versions and come without this banter, presented exactly as they were prepared for in the spring of 1969 for various overdubs. Our sole intention is to present these songs how they left the Memphis studio, with the okay of Elvis and producer Chips Moman.
The live show was assembled from various sources, including bits taken from regular releases in order to match up the correct audio with the best possible source. Our ultimate goal was to offer the best sounding, most complete multi track version of the 24 August Midnight Show. We also have possession of four reels with safety recordings from 1969 in fantastic quality. Some were previously released on FTD, but there were still little gems left which we wanted to offer. So we decided to put it on a third disc, and include even a very rare rehearsal from January 1969 in best sound available.

'Going Back To Houston' New Import CD:  The first release from TNT Records, a look at one of the most well-known concert tours Elvis ever did. Much has been written about "Tour Number 14" (May 30 – June 10, 1975) and on this brand new double-cd set you are going to hear both concerts Elvis did right in the middle of the tour. Concerts number 9 and 10 took place in Houston, Texas Houston, June 4 and June 5 1975. Although the reporters from the local papers "Houston Chronicle" (Dale Adamson) and "The Houston Post" (Bob Claypool) were not too happy with the way Elvis presented himself (you will see their original newspaper articles pictured in the 16-page booklet that comes with the cd) the excited crowd at the Hofheinz Pavilion in Houston still loved Elvis as they did since the 1950's. "Audionics" helped us to make a significant improvement in the sound of the two soundboard recordings. If you have missed the show´s first releases from more than 10 years ago or if you want to own them in better sound than before plus exactly the way they were recorded you should not miss this great new double cd!

The second show, the Houston incredible March 1st afternoon show, presents Elvis at the pick of his possibility, although not new to CD collectors, will not have been heard in this quality before. This release is taken directly from a first generation tape and has been professionally remastered to a high standard producing an excellent audio quality, The sound quality is far superior to the previous released audience recordings.

This is an Audience Recording so be sure to ask your local dealer for samples! Elvis at Houston is pure dynamite, delivering a great performance that compares with the Closing night in terms of quality, giving to this release the status of “UNIQUE”.
Here you can hear the complete opening night. Houston was three days later only from the end of the Vegas season, for Elvis the very first opportunity to face a real audience from his comeback to live scenes. The result six supernatural shows with record attendance set in the Saturday evening show…. the rest his history, Here you can hear the complete March 01 afternoon show. Elvis performed accompanied from the band only a solid and rough show singing the best of the previous Las Vegas Season, in spite the short show ( about 44 minutes) and the bad acoustic with this show as Houston Chronicle review suggest "Elvis Brings Down The House At The Dome" can be reasonably to be included in one of best shows ever!!!
The Double LP Set, 200 Vinyl Gram,331/3 rpm, Picture Disc!!!It Never Sounded Better!!!!Is A Limited numbered 500 Copies. It comes with an three fold 300 gram high quality GLOSSY sleeve both sides printed, giving an unique view. 'Echoes Of Aloha' New Import CD: Audionics will release their 5th CD of this year early December. It is a kind of sequel to "ALOHA JERRY” CD (Audionics 2013-01-2) - once again dedicated to the eighth Las Vegas season - February 13th, 1973 dinner show.
These recordings were captured almost a month to the day of the ”Aloha From Hawaii” satellite broadcast, and it’s inevitable to make some comparisons. It’s been said that Elvis was depressed about having to return to Las Vegas again following the huge success of the broadcast, but this newly discovered recording does not bear that out at all.
Elvis sounds more relaxed and more at ease on this recording, and there is an intimacy present on this recording that is missing from ”Aloha”. It’s interesting to note that many of the songs that he performed during the satellite show are missing here. In fact, the layout of the show is somewhat reminiscent of the structure of the Las Vegas shows in August 1970, with a strong mix of recent material and Elvis classics.
All recordings presented on this CD are previously unreleased. The
February 13th, 1973 dinner show is completely new even to die-hard Elvis fans. It was never in circulation and it is taken from an original ”booth recording, ” made from a booth close to the stage and PA speakers. It is remarkably superior to usual audience tapes and soundwise fully comparable with our "Aloha, Jerry” (Audionics 2013-01-2), February 23, 1973 Closing Night.
As a bonus, more of soundboard tracks from the Dinner Show of February 10th, 1973 are included.
This release is presented in deluxe digipack with live and candid photos taken during January / February ’73 Vegas season and with appropriate liner notes.

'The On Stage Season' FTD Review: After their excellent "On Stage" multi-track Classic album, FTD now continues their look at this excellent season with the first official release of Elvis' 1970 Opening and Closing night performances.
"If I appear a little shaky that's because I'm a little shaky!" - Elvis, Las Vegas Jan 26th 1970.
On Opening Night Elvis introduced ten "brand new" songs to his Vegas setlist and what a treat it is to hear these for the first time live.
‘King Elvis Rules Vegas Again’ - As Elvis stood with his arms outstretched and head bowed in thanks, the curtain slowly fell and we were swept up with the excitement of the crowd which was at its peak. ... with every song, Elvis gave the audience exactly what they had come for: a chance to see and experience a living legend. Elvis a habit-forming' drug that does you good! - Journalist Ann Moses
EIN's Piers Beagley checks out this new release and decides whether it is worth buying these often bootlegged concerts one more time...

'Living From Day To Day, Chasing A Dream' New Import CD: Straight Arrow has announced a new 2CD release featuring both the Dinner and Midnight Shows February 22, 1973 in Las Vegas. In addition there’s included parts of the Dinner Show on February 21.
The February 22, 1973 D/S and M/S are taken directly from original "booth recording tapes". This kind of recordings was made from a "booth" or table placed at the edge of the stage, close to PA speakers, by someone who was a part of the organization, or who was related to someone inside the Elvis circle. Unlike standard audience recordings, where the recorder had to be hidden in a purse, under the table or under the clothes, often muffling the sound, booth recordings were made by someone who was known by Elvis’ security force, and consequently did not have to worry about concealing the recorder / microphone. The sound quality of such tapes is noticeably superior compared to the typical audience recording.
For the February 22, 1973 recordings, a BASF Chromdioxide hifi Compact Cassette was used. The dinner show was recorded on the A-side and the Midnight show on the B-side. The February 22, 1973 D/S is previously unreleased. There is a bad sounding version taken from a different source tape in circulation, wrongly dated as the February 23, 1973 Dinner show.
The February 22, 1973 M/S was released (by the 'Showroom' label, 'Back In The Desert' CD, 2012) from an inferior audience recorded source. This CD has nothing to do with Straight Arrow’s 'booth tape' version. Unfortunately, the person who recorded Feb. 22, 1973 M/S stopped his recorder during Jackie Kahane‘s pre-program and switched it on only near the end of 'C. C. Rider'. Instead of splicing the 'booth tape' with the substandard audience recorded version of the same show, we decided to use another booth tape from our vaults – the February 21, 1973 Dinner Show (recorded by same person as the Feb. 22 shows) to fill the missing part. This booth tape, although of very good sound quality, was badly damaged after the song 'Suspicious Minds' (impossible to repair) and is thus not suitable for individual release. We have decided to add all usable part as a bonus for both discs, with no edits. Note: only 'What Now My Love' was previously available as a bonus track on our 'You Don't Have To Say You Love Me' CD (2010).
The sound was transferred using standard 24-bit processing and professional Tascam equipment. Every second was digitally restored to achieve optimal listening pleasure. We hope you enjoy the results. Digitally remastered in November 2013.

'Things Get Loose In Tuscaloosa!' New Import: After the release of two essential new soundboard albums in a row (Houston We Have A Problem and The Creeping Crud Express) Audionics is now back with the third soundboard release of the year. This time from June 3rd 1975 8:30 pm, Municipal Auditorium, Tuscaloosa, AL
This which was previously released on the King label as Deep Down South in 1997 but this new release is taken from a different, superior quality tape source which was obtained at the same time as the previously mentioned unreleased soundboards.
Elvis’ show in Tuscaloosa is a real fun concert that is a delight to listen to. His singing is excellent, he’s in a good mood and he clearly loves the interplay with his fans. His setlist during the June 1975 tour was a rather strong one, with a solid mix of classics and more recent numbers. Most of these were performed really well too, and even the oldies were treated with a bit more respect than usual. Keen observers will note that he dropped the tempo a notch or two
on songs like All Shook Up and Teddy Bear / Don’t Be Cruel. The King was truly back, and he really rocked Tuscaloosa with great dynamic performances like Burning Love, Mystery Train / Tiger Man and, just for tonight, a gorgeous Bridge Over Troubled Water.
This CD is presented in beautifully designed deluxe digi-pak with relevant liner notes and a couple of rare photos as taken on the night. Due to the lack of quality photographs from Tuscaloosa, we also used a few photos from the Huntsville, AL, May 31st 8:30 pm show. Elvis only wore the Red Eagle (or Red Phoenix) jumpsuit on these two nights.
We know what you want to ask now…. ‘Is this really a significant sound upgrade?’, and to that we can only answer wholeheartedly, yes! Firstly, because we were able to work from a superior tape source, and secondly, because the sonic improvement of soundboard tapes has made real quantum leaps since 1997. We are very proud of the sound that we got out of this new tape source. And while we can’t “go back and touch the past”, this great new Audionics release is the next best thing to actually being there that special night in Tuscaloosa.
Note: Audionics is planning a special release before the end of this year, with more previously unissued material. While the other import guys appear to be in hibernation, we are only just warming up! You can always count on Audionics to deliver the goods.
EIN notes that FTD released a fabulous compilation from the same season on their 'Southern Nights' CD. One of their very best.
(News, Source;Audionics/ElvisInfoNet)

'From Elvis At American Sound Studio' new FTD: We have some preliminary artwork for the third American Sound Studios release from FTD, supposedly being released next month in November.

'Houston We Have A Problem' - CD review: From the Audionics label, a previously unreleased soundboard recording of Elvis' controversial matinee concert at the Summit in Houston on August 28, 1976.
The review by Bob Claypool has often been cited in Elvis literature, and the general consensus appears to be that this concert was a real disaster. Possibly detrimental to Elvis' glorious legacy, this 'import' CD is one of the most controversial releases of the year. Elvis was certainly on bad form on this afternoon, but was he really that terrible? SONY/FTD could never consider releasing this concert, yet it has to have a certain fascination to Elvis collectors.
36 years after his death, does Elvis' legacy still need to be air-brushed to keep its glory intact, or can we accept him for all his human faults?
Go here as EIN contributor Geoffrey McDonnell takes an in-depth look at Elvis' situation in summer 1976 and explains all.. and now UPDATED with Your Comments..

The album was TV advertised using clips from the 'Aloha' special. Once again it made the album charts, and it became a huge seller. 'The Creeping Crud Express' New Import CD: Right after the release of the very controversial Houston, August 28th, 1976 show ('Houston We Have A Problem' - see details below), Audionics is back with another remarkable release with more previously unreleased soundboard material. This time, Audionics presents Elvis in solid form during his memorable May/June ’75 tour.
Elvis often wore different Phoenix jumpsuits in May/June ’75, and in a way that’s entirely appropriate. Compared with the fall of ’74, he looked fresh and rejuvenated, sounded great, and seemed genuinly happy about being on the road again. He was like a phoenix rising from its ashes.
Fortunately, the June ’75 tour is well-documented, and most of the shows have been released on soundboard. In this deluxe package, Audionics presents for the first time the unreleased afternoon show in Shreveport, Louisiana on June 7th, 1975 – a real killer show. Even though most of the shows on this tour have a similar setlist, it’s always a treat to hear a new show from this remarkable tour and to
hear unique moments - like different dialogue, fun interplay with the audience and of course small variations in the way he performs the songs or especially good versions. The audio quality of this soundboard is topnotch.
The Dallas show has been out before, first by RCA in 1980, and then more complete on import as ‘Dallas Seventyfive Uncensored’ a couple of years ago. We were able to obtain a superior and even more complete tape source, and it’s a joy to hear this fantastic show in excellent sound.
Presented in a deluxe double digipak with rare photos (some are published in color for the first time here) and relevant liner notes, this is another winner that every die-hard fan must own.
The Shreveport Evening show of the same day was issued by FTD last year - see detailed review here.

'Keep On Turnin'' New Import CD: Touchdown Productions proudly presents for their 20th release another totally new show! This time we'll release the dinner show from August 26, 1971. There's no wow and flutter and the overall sound quality is of very good quality for an audience recording. That goes also for the bonus tracks which were recorded at the dinner show on August 31, 1971. The show itself was released before a few years ago, but this time the bonus tracks were taken from a different source which offers a much better soundquality than the released CD of the show. As usual the CD will be packaged with a beautiful designed 16-page booklet.

'Love Me Tonight' New Import CD: From the "SR" label the new CD "Love me tonight" featuring an unreleased show from Las Vegas February 13, 1971 Midnight Show. After a long research we finally located a good tape that gives us the possibility to produce another show from Elvis fourth season.
The midnight show from February 13th has no surprises in the tracklist, but the show is extremely solid and good, the sound is good and powerful using a straight copy of the original source tape. Elvis' performance on these early season nights is superb as he is still performing to the best of his ability. Although he delivers short shows they are delivered in a very intense, crisp and fresh manner that cannot be denied. Elvis was on stage to have fun and demonstrated this during the older, classic numbers, but songs such as 'Polk Salad Annie', 'You've Lost That Loving Feeling' and 'Sweet Caroline' never sounded better. The season will be remembered for the beautiful new closing number ‘The Impossible Dream’ which Elvis sang with power and feeling giving us proof that Elvis continued to grow as a performer.
This recording came from an early generation copy of the master tape, the sound quality is very good considering the early season. We have in our hands the original mono tape of extremely good quality enabling us to carry out simple re-mastering work, concentrating on the reduction of noise and trying to achieve a more clear sound and of Elvis, keeping his vocal power up in the central mix and at the same time trying to give a great definition to the background music. The Tape was unfortunately incomplete, Suspicious Minds last only four minutes for a cut in the middle.
As usually from this label, this new CD will come in a deluxe digipack, containing a collection of live photographs from the season and informative liner notes .
As everybody knows SR concentrates its work on Elvis early 70's live period, trying to produce unreleased shows with Elvis at the top of his possibilities. In this new release, we are proud to present the complete show from February 13th, midnight performance of the fourth Elvis’ historical Vegas season.
To be released in early September

‘Elvis At Stax’ [Deluxe] Reviews: More new sensational reviews of the new STAX release... Joe Marchese from the Second Disc website provides a very in-depth review including...
.. Elvis at Stax would be a landmark release simply for bringing the Stax masters together; even the most diehard Elvis fan will likely admit that most of his original album releases weren't crafted or packaged with an eye to posterity. But this box set adds 27 outtakes and alternate takes that allow listeners to trace the evolution of a song. This is a fly-on-the-wall experience, with plenty of stops, starts and in-studio chatter. Elvis at Stax offers a rare and immersive look at how Presley, producer Felton Jarvis, and their talented band developed each song into a memorable recording. Elvis is frequently looser on these early takes; the rolling tape captures him joking around, but also fiercely committed to getting each song just right. Elvis even riffs a bit, such as singing a few lines of "Softly, As I Leave You" while readying his pipes for a try at "Loving Arms," or clowning, grand opera-style, before "If You Don't Come Back." Sonically, these tracks are just as crisp as the finished masters for a true "you are there" feeling.
This Memphis soul stew is housed in an 8 x 8" slipcase similar to that of last year's Prince from Another Planet. A 42-page softcover book is also enclosed, containing an introduction by Roger Semon, a lengthy essay by Robert Gordon, and a full track listing with all relevant session information and complete discography. The book is generously illustrated, too, with well-captioned photographs of Elvis and assorted memorabilia relating to the sessions.
Vic Anesini has marvelously remastered all three discs, and the outtakes have been newly remixed by Steve Rosenthal and Rob Santos, the box set's co-producer with Ernest Mikael Jorgensen. Touching on all of the styles that shaped the one and only King - pop, R&B, country, gospel, and of course, rock and roll - Elvis at Stax chronicles some of his last truly great studio sessions. As such, it's another essential release as part of Legacy's streamlining and repackaging of his vast musical catalogue. When push came to shove, nobody took care of business quite like Elvis Presley.

'Houston, We Have A Problem' New controversial Import CD: From the Audionics label, a previously unreleased soundboard recording of Elvis Presley's controversial matinee performance at the Summit in Houston, TX, on August 28, 1976.
Over the years, much has been written about Elvis' afternoon concert at the Summit in Houston, TX. on August 28, 1976. The review by Bob Claypool has often been cited in Elvis literature (see below), and the general consensus appears to be that this concert was a real disaster. Some have even suggested that this show was Elvis' worst concert ever, and it has often been a hot discussion point amongst fans. Someone even wrote a book about the show.
And yet, no recording has ever turned up. Not even an audience recording. Much of what we have read so far about this show is based on the Claypool review. But reviews are always subjective, while an audio recording is obviously a more objective means to judge a performance. After a long and exhaustive search, Audionics was recently able to locate and purchase the original soundboard tape of this concert, and we are now pleased to announce its release.
No doubt this newly-discovered recording will generate even more discussion on the message boards, as Elvis fans are now finally able to judge this controversial show for themselves. Audionics has gone to great lengths to find this recording and to bring you something truly new and unreleased. Some import labels are perfectly happy to bring you the same old stuff again & again, but at least we always go that extra mile to bring you unheard material. And, in this case, a historically relevant recording that will now enable you to hear for yourself what really happened that afternoon. Support us and we will continue to bring you more surprises in the future.
The audio quality of this soundboard is topnotch, and the show itself is 80 minutes. The audience sounds like they were having a good time that afternoon, and it’s interesting to hear the one-off return of Jerry Scheff’s bass solo in "Polk Salad Annie" for the first time since 1972/’73. We believe that this significant release will lead to a more nuanced appraisal of this show in the future.
Presented in a deluxe digipack with unpublished photos and relevant liner notes, this is one release that you must own.

The review from Bob Claypool in the Houston Post the following day sadly noted,
... Elvis Presley has been breaking hearts for more than 20 years now, and Saturday afternoon in the Summit, in a completely new and unexpected way, he broke mine.
In short, the concert was awful a depressingly incoherent, amateurish mess served up by a bloated, stumbling and mumbling figure who didn't act like "The King" of anything, least of all rock 'n' roll.
It made for a sad, pitiful afternoon even though the narrow-minded, but always present, screamers for Elvis bunch were still squealing and jumping through the whole thing. But, on this day there seemed to be less of them than ever. The Summit was sold-out, packed to the gills (17,500 people, maybe more) and for every die-hard screamer, there were at least two or three blank, stunned faces, staring at the stage in disbelief.

'Turning Night Into Daytime' New Import CD: Rainbow Records proudly presents a new CD release called “Turning Night Into Daytime” , featuring Elvis Presley´s complete performance of August 31, 1973 (Midnight Show) at the Las Vegas Hilton Hotel. This show has not been released on CD before and will be presented in very good sound for an audience recording. The recording has been taken directly from the original cassette tape - as recorded by a “Super-Fan” from the UK who was present at this particular show.
Elvis seems to have a good time at this show and he delivers a real fine choice of songs. There are quite a few highlights to discover: a strong “Brigde Over Troubled Water”, a rather “early in the set” sung “Release Me”, a great “An American Trilogy” and a rather “rare for 73” sung “Funny How Time Slips Away”. Also note that this recording is complete, only missing the “2001” theme. This Summer release is limited to 300 copies only.

‘Elvis At Stax’ [Deluxe] Reviews: Released today, it is great to see yet more good reviews and general media publicity for this new 40th Anniversary Deluxe Set.
General Jabbo of Blog Critics posted an honest review of this new release, including..
... The year 1973 was a good one for Elvis but being the world of Elvis Presley, it wasn’t without its complications, however. Presley’s relentless touring schedule had left him exhausted. He was separated from Priscilla during this time and then RCA forced Elvis into the studio.
Presley knew of Stax and its success, and its proximity to Graceland couldn’t be beat, so he scheduled sessions for July and December of that year. A plethora of material was recorded.
The sessions proved fruitful, providing material for three albums: Raised On Rock, Good Times, and Promised Land. This collection presents two complete albums and nearly a third, plus a multitude of outtakes. While many of these outtakes have been previously released on various box sets, Elvis At Stax cherrypicks many of the best of these tracks and presents them in one place.
While some of this material may not be as strong overall as earlier triumphs such as From Elvis In Memphis or Elvis Country, listeners who dismiss it outright are missing out on many fine performances. Elvis At Stax does a good job of presenting Presley’s Stax sessions in a manner that makes sense — something Presley fans have wished for years — while offering a fresh view of this material.

'Losin' Out In Vegas' New Import CD: From the Straight Arrow label Elvis' Las Vegas Sunday, December 5, 1976, 9 pm show. All die-hard fans know that Elvis‘ last Las Vegas season was an up & down experience. After a strong Dec. 2nd opening night, followed by 4 solid shows on Dec. 3 & 4, he gave a different kind of concert. Perhaps it was his first partial "sit-down" show, since June 1968!
An English super-fan Jennet was there and here are excerpts from her memories:
"The first indication that something unusual was afoot was when, during Jackie Kahane's comedy routine, Charlie Hodge called out to him from the wings. Kahane made a jokey comment about Elvis spraining his ankle after falling off his wallet, and would be starting his show a little late. Eventually Charlie appeared and explained that Elvis had sprained his ankle, hence the delay.
Following "C. C. Rider", Elvis made his apologies, stressing that he had twisted his ankle, in case there were any doubters. There were

sorne changes to his song list. "I did a song called 'Are You Lonesome Tonight'", he said, adding humorously, "And did you sprain your ankle the day before?" He asked for a chair and water and crutch, and finally Charlie brought a chair onstage. He settled himself on the chair and Charlie held a microphone to Elvis' guitar.
Some of the crowd further back in the showroom were getting impatient and began a slow handclap. "They got a tap dance going back there, " remarked Elvis, but the banter ceased and he at last returned to the job in hand - singing - to do a request for "Sweet Caroline", trying to recall the lyrics He got up off his chair during this song, and it was later taken off stage.
A diverse selection of tunes was proof that Elvis had 'something for everybody': his versatility was underlined when he performed the emotional "You Gave Me A Mountain", following on with a short, raucous "Jailhouse Rock", the Neapolitan-flavoured "It's Now Or Never", the '55 Sun classic 'Tryin' To Get To You", and a throwaway "Blue Suede Shoes". Then, "Fever" was, frankly, sexy (even with Elvis' restricted leg-twitching), while "America" was proudly, patriotically performed.
As per usual this season, the King's powerhouse delivery of "Hurt" was a show highlight. The ankle injury may have curtailed some of the leg action, but the quality of Elvis' voice was undiminished. Although he tore through "Hound Dog", his committed performance of "How Great Thou Art" was another high point in the show, and featured the Stamps Quartet.“

Most of us know the review by Ger Rijff, which was fairly harsh. Opinions differ on this show, and this CD enables you to judge it for yourself. This CD is taken directly from an original audience master tape and it’s complete.

Sound quality is very good for an audience recording. This special release is presented in de-luxe digipak accompanied by a 24-page booklet filled with previously unseen photos from December 1976 as well as liner notes written by the English super-fan, who taped the show. Do not miss this unique opportunity to get the ultimate release of this unusual show!

'Hot August Night' FTD CD Review: After the success of the iconic '68 Comeback Special - Elvis signed on the dotted line for a pretty penny - a cool million to perform a two week engagement in Las Vegas at the newly built International Hotel. Mixing contemporary songs and his classic rock 'n' roll hits Elvis and his dynamite TCB Band kicked some serious Ass in Sin City.
Elvis' stunning August 25 1969 Midnight Show formed the core section of Elvis' famous "In Person" RCA album with seven performances being selected from this fabulous night.
For the first time ever, at last FTD have released Elvis' complete performance - but do these songs stand out when listened to as part of this familiar 1969 Las Vegas season?

'Mood Swings' New Import CD: The The third release from the new Rock Legends label features the infamous closing show recorded from the soundboard in Las Vegas, NV on September 2, 1974. The sound quality is a major improvement over the first issue and will contain too the first song performed by Voice titled ''I Couldn't Live Without You'' that was missing on the original. We didn't want the show to start with dialogue instead of music we have spliced in a version of '' C.C. Rider '' recorded less than a month after this one. Elvis' mood swings were legendary during this period of time, and perhaps a bit over the edge on this one. The sound improvement makes it more pleasant - It will never be his best concert but definitely one of his best representation. As a bonus the second CD features the complete August 20, 1973 M.S., a totally different mood and one of the best ever audience recordings released, and superior to many soundboard recordings.
A Limited Edition presented in a full color digipack with photos related to the time when both shows were recorded.

"Elvis Recorded Live On Stage In Memphis" (2-LP Vinyl Limited Edition): FTD's next vinyl release features, for the first time on this format, the complete concert recorded on March 20, 1974, in Memphis, Tennessee. This will be issued on 180gram vinyl, and now the new album cover has been announced.

This is of course the famous 1974 Memphis concert that has been previously released edited down on vinyl as a single album - and also (almost complete!) on an FTD CD release - Look here at EIN's original FTD review from 2004.

'City of Lakes '76' New Import CD: The October tour in 1976 wasn't by far the best of Elvis, but it showed that he made a step in the right direction. His physical appearance had much improved since summer when he probably looked his worst ever. Much more important was the quality of his concerts also changed for the better. During the tour in fall '76 he gave some good shows with some strong versions. Recorded Live, October 17, 1976 in Minneapolis.
Unfortunately the original release from FTD "A Minnesota Moment" left a lot to be desired.
It sounded flat, muffled, lifeless and very hissy. The soundquality was dissapointing as was the 'artwork' which showed on top an outrageous bad done photoshop job with Elvis' left hand.
The VERVE Team did everything to improve the overal sound and as a result you'll get to hear a soundboard as it should have been. Hopefully you can enjoy the concert now as much as we do while reading and flipping the sixteen pages of the booklet.

Go HERE for EIN's original FTD CD review which included input from Elvis fan Steve Lecher who attended the actual concert.

'The CBS Concert Recordings' New Import CD: The complete soundtrack of CBS special, two concert performances - from June 19, 1977 in Omaha, and June 21, 1977 in Rapid City.
These two concerts are now available in a deluxe 2-CD set with almost 60 historical tracks. Also included is a beautiful 16-page booklet stuffed with extensive liner notes and relevant photos.
Especially for the Elvis Collectors We include numbered 100% genuine reproductions of the original tickets of both concerts. This is limited to 555 editions only!
Hear Elvis at the piano and many songs performed for the very last time on stage. With the last and arguably best-performed version of "How Great thou art" and the last versions of "Are you lonesome tonight", the powerful "Trying To Get To You" and the unusual "Hawaiian Wedding Song".
With this release it is obvious whatever may have been wrong, Elvis' unique voice never failed him!
In the spring of 1977 CBS-TV expressed an interest in creating a the program. After much pre-planning, producers Gary Smith and Dwight Hemion chose the cities of Omaha and Rapid City on the June tour for their primary videotaping locations. Elvis did not do so well in Omaha, but gave everything he had in Rapid City.
The Monday, October 3, 1977 broadcast, aired about six weeks after Elvis' unexpected death, used most of the second show in their edit.
The RCA soundtrack "ELVIS IN CONCERT" reached *Billboard* U.S. #3 shortly after this airing.
The program would be rerun just once, on Sunday, May 7, 1978, and has never been issued on VHS or DVD.
The Gravelroad team started this project back in 2010 but with the release of "TFC box" it seemed to be a cancelled project. To our surprise their sound didn't match the results we already achieved on these two concerts.
From the various fans that heard the progress samples we've received requests to, please finish it.
Thanks to new technical possibilities we could solve certain recording issues that were impossible to solve just a few years ago.
As some insiders already said, this is the best sounding release of these concerts to date!
Of course we can say many things, we rather let you be the judge of that!

'Tanya For Dinner' New Import CD: Coming soon from the Straight Arrow label is their new digipak release, 'Tanya For Dinner' featuring the March 28, 1975 dinner performance.
Elvis hits the ground running with his usual openers, and keeps the energy up and pacing crisp throughout. New covers like "And I Love You So" -- taped in Los Angeles just a few weeks earlier -- are bright. Even the jokes are chipper, such as his lyric change to "I want a little drink of brandy" during "Big Boss Man," a tiny rib at stage assistant Charlie Hodge. Listen for outstanding renditions of "It's Midnight" and "I'm Leavin'" and a warm introduction of teenaged country singing sensation, Tanya Tucker. The audience recording is previously unreleased from a recently-discovered source. The quality is very good, from start to finish, save a brief segment during band introductions, where a secondary source is used to fill in a missing portion.

'St. Louis Blues' New Import CD: Expected soon is new CD entitled 'St. Louis Blues' from the E.P. Collector label, from an audience recording at the Kiel Auditorium, St. Louis, March 22, 1976 tour closing show. It was last Elvis show during his lifetime, reviewed in Rolling Stone #213. Some of Elvis stable musicians were replaced and the result was surprisingly fresh sound with keyboards more prominent. Among the highlights are ”Let Me Be There” (performed for very last time), ”Steamroller Blues”, ”Polk Salad Annie”, ”Hurt” and ”America (The Beautiful)”. Since the show is rather short, producers decided to add 9 solid bonus tracks from Johnson City, March 19, 1976 show.
This previously unreleased recording was taken from a 1st generation copy of the original audience recorded tape and the sound - though not perfect - is far better than any other known version of this show. The CD is packaged in nicely designed digipak with collection of March 22, 1976 photos.

'From Richmond To Greensboro' New Import CD: The second release from the new Rock Legends label will be '' From Richmond To Greensboro ''. Those two 'Elvis On Tour' shows, April 10, 1972 and Greensboro, April 14, were released several years ago in wonderful sound quality but are now hard-to-find , especially the Richmond one. The sound of the Greensboro concert is the same as originally released on Madison, however we found a better source for the Richmond gig that sounds much better now, smoother with a wider dynamic range.
This is two shows from a GREAT tour presented in a beautiful full color digipak with photographs from both performances. It will be available soon so if you missed either one of them, this is your chance to own them. This new double set will be a very LIMITED EDITION !!!!

'Elvis At Stax: 40th Anniversary' Legacy Final Details: Celebrating the 40th Anniv of Elvis' STAX studios sessions SONY is releasing a 3 CD 'Elvis At Stax: 40th Anniversary' complete set plus a "Elvis At Stax: 40th Anniv: Best Of" 1CD version. They are both out on Aug 6, 2013. Final Details released today by SONY.
... The last major studio sessions in the career of Elvis Presley have finally been gathered together for the first time in one comprehensive package as 'ELVIS AT STAX: DELUXE EDITION' bristles with energy and dynamism. The deluxe 3-CD box set, a 40th anniversary chronicle of a dozen nights that Presley spent at Stax Recording Studios in his hometown of Memphis in July and Dec 1973, will be released worldwide August 6.
Released simultaneously will be a single CD of highlights from the box set simply titled ELVIS AT STAX, and a 180-gram, double-vinyl LP.
The official website notes 'ELVIS AT STAX' bristles with energy and dynamism. The proof is in the six consecutive singles that the Stax sessions produced, all of which skirted the Top 40 from 1973 to 1975. In effect, they rivaled some of the hottest streaks that Presley had charted a decade earlier. The Stax singles still resonate today:

(EIN note - How odd that Elvis "skirting the Top 40" is a sign of dynamism! Surely RCA would have hoped that Elvis would get into the Top Ten after the success of 'Aloha'?)
Ernst Jørgensen has long been concerned with doing justice to the Stax sessions, which were never acknowledged by the artist's record label RCA as a unified whole. Instead, as with most of Presley's studio work in his second decade as a recording artist, the tracks were scattered onto LPs and intermingled with material recorded in Nashville and Hollywood. The bulk of the Stax cuts showed up on Raised On Rock/For Ol’ Times Sake (1973), Good Times (1974), and Promised Land (1975). For ELVIS AT STAX, many of the outtakes originated on the reissues of those three albums on the FTD label. ELVIS AT STAX was produced by Jørgensen, Semon, and Rob Santos of Legacy A&R.
Taking up the cause for ELVIS AT STAX is another scholar and aficionado of the artist, award-winning resident Memphis journalist Robert Gordon, who has written an in-depth, day-by-day liner notes essay for the box set.

(EIN Note - It will be fascinating to see whether Robert Gordon includes the mainly despondent stories from Elvis' acquaintances at the STAX sessions.)
Elvis spent 12 days at Stax in 1973 (July 21-25 and December 10-16), and the rollercoaster ride of those sessions is meticulously detailed in Gordon’s liner notes. ELVIS AT STAX neatly compartmentalizes the results:
•Disc 1: The R&B and Country Sessions – The Outtakes: 17 tracks
•Disc 2: Part 1 – The Pop Sessions – The Outtakes: 10 tracks
•Disc 2: Part 2 – The July 1973 Masters: four single sides and six album tracks, and
•Disc 3: The December 1973 Masters: seven single sides and 11 album tracks.

'To Live And Die In Dixie' New Import CD: Coming out soon is the new Straight Arrow's double-digipak release "TO LIVE AND DIE IN DIXIE", featuring audience recordings of the February 19, 1972 Dinner and Midnight performances. This 6th Las Vegas season has been somewhat overlooked by bootleggers, mainly due to the below-par sound quality of the audience recorded tapes available. The last few years, the Straight Arrow team has been looking for good sounding amateur recordings from this particular season, and we are pleased to announced that we finally succeeded in locating two very good tapes obtained directly from the person who recorded them.
Most of the fans know that this is the engagement where Priscilla told Elvis that she was leaving him. Very little else seems to stand out for the casual observer. In many ways that's a pity, because this engagement is crucial on a number of levels. Firstly, because it represented a return to form. The early '72 Vegas shows surprised both the critics and fans because of Elvis' serious commitment to his music

and his no-nonsense delivery. These shows marked also the first time that he performed the now-legendary "Theme 2001" / "C. C. Rider" opening, plus he also introduces various new songs to the show that are now widely considered as his finest show additions from the 70s, including "A Big Hunk O‘Love", "You Gave Me A Mountain", "Never Been To Spain", "I’ll Remember You" and "An American Trilogy". Actually, the best-ever versions of "Trilogy" are from this engagement!
As a bonus, we added the only known live-performance of "I'm Leaving It All Up To You" from the February 10th, 1972 Midnight show.
Both shows are strong and focused and they give the listener a good impression of Elvis' renewed interest in his music and his stage performances. These concerts are previously unreleased and they are presented in their complete form and in the best possible sound quality.

'Better Than Ever!' New Import CD/Vinyl; To be released late May on the VV label will be their third release entitled "Better Than Ever!" featuring both the complete live soundboard recording on January 26th 1970 Las Vegas opening show and the complete unreleased live audience recording from Houston on February 28, 1970 Afternoon Show . After the success of the first two releases we decided: first to improve the product and second, keeping the same formula to give you more.…..
The producers are aware of the fact that the opening night show, as one of the best Elvis Presley concerts ever, has been previously released in different imports. But Here we give you the chance to listen to the show in its entirety for 1st time in a double collector vinyl set, 45 rpm speed.
The second show, the Houston unreleased February 28nd afternoon show, presents Elvis at the pick of his possibility, although not new to tape collectors, will not have been heard in this quality before. This release is taken directly from a first generation tape and has been professionally remastered to an excellent audio quality.

Elvis at Houston is pure dynamite , delivering a great performance that compares with the opening night in terms of quality, giving to this release the status of "UNIQUE".
’Better than Ever" wants to give you a unique perspective of the man and his music during this February 1970. The Vegas second season allows Elvis, after paying his debt to the golden past in the ’69 season, to demonstrate his true abilities. We see the best of Elvis in songs that will become the fulcrum of the Elvis show until 1972 Here you can hear the complete opening night. Houston three days later only from the end of the Vegas season, for Elvis the very first opportunity to face a real audience from his comeback to live scenes. The result six supernatural shows with record attendance set in the Saturday evening show…. the rest his history, Here you can hear the complete February 28nd afternoon show.
About the Vegas opening night has been already said a lot a words, so We like spend some words on the Houston show here presented….Elvis performed accompanied from the band only a solid and rough show singing the best of the previous Las Vegas Season, in spite the short show ( about 44 minutes) and the bad acoustic this show as the title suggest Better than Ever directly from Houston Chronicle review can be reasonably to be included in one of best shows ever!!!

'Only Believe' New Import CD: Elvis Presley, unquestionably the most popular entertainer to ever appear on the famed Las Vegas Strip, returns to the main showroom of the International Hotel !
With the limited Album "Snowbird Revisited" we started off with the first of three shows from 1971 January – February Las Vegas season.

With great pleasure we announce the second show "ONLY BELIEVE". This is a fantastic show of January 27, 1971 Midnight.
If you enjoyed "Snowbird Revisited", you’ll going to love "ONLY BELIEVE"!

It took 18 years to come up with a fully re-mastered audio and deluxe artwork with plenty photos and liner notes of January 1971. All housed in a modern seventies styled package.
We guarantee, you’ll hear details not heard before!

With the research we figured out that it is very likely that only "Suspicious Minds" and "The Impossible Dream" were not recorded. Because of the energy of the show, the show of 28th of January Midnight was the best choice to restore it to a complete show. We took these songs and edited them to make them fit the show.

This is a limited edition and will match the previous release.

'Aloha From Hawaii' 40th Anniversary release CD Review: There is no doubt that most people reading this review will know Elvis’ phenomenal Aloha From Hawaii' concert inside out. Every fan will know the TV broadcast, most fans will have bought the album several times, a fair number will have also bought the "Alternate Aloha" rehearsal and a few will have seen the original broadcast on TV back in 1973.
We all know this classic record-breaking concert so well. Dressed in his stunning "American-Eagle" jumpsuit, tanned, slim and Adonis-like, Elvis was truly at the peak of his later career.
But with no "new" material to be offered on this Legacy 40th Anniversary re-release do the audio re-masters and packaging with 24 page booklet create a release worth of such a magnificent event.
Go here as EIN's Piers Beagley takes a good look at this all-important 40th Anniversary release and discovers the Good and the Bad..

'Las Vegas March 1975 Happening' New Import CD: The new Rock Legends label will soon release a double soundboard CD. The Elvis Presley Show was a HAPPENING and first Spring appearance in Sin City since 1956 was no different. The 50s gig was definitely way above in terms of performance, but nonetheless a flop at the time. Wrong place, wrong moment! But by 1969 Elvis returned and established himself as the King Of Vegas.
March 1975 wasn't a flop although he had health problems, but he still was in an excellent mood and with new studio material recorded about a week before. He was away from Las Vegas since Sept 1974, but he opened this Season with some of his new songs; And I Love You So, Green Green Grass Of Home and Fairytale. T-R-O-U-B-L-E would wait up to his next tour before entering his song list as a regular number, whilst the odd Shake A Hand and Pieces Of My Life were performed a bit later during the July 1975 tour. Some material from the strong December 1973 sessions like Promised Land , It's Midnight and My Boy were incorporated along some unrehearsed moments to his basic program.
The first CD features the nearly complete pre-show (no Elvis), and on the second CD the March 22, 1975 Midnight performance along with some bonus tracks recorded three nights earlier.
The March 22, 1975 MS has been released twice but our source is definitely from an earlier generation. The very short Joe Orchestra introduction before the Also Sprach Zarathustra is not on the aforementioned releases and presence of vocal distortion in Elvis' vocal is rather smooth and less annoying than it was before.
This new digipack double set will be a very LIMITED EDITION and first intended for the fans who didn't have these recordings, or all the ones wanting the COMPLETE HAPPENING.
EIN Notes - The tracklist states that there are SIX new unreleased tracks from 'March 19, 1975 M.S' although no one believes this soundboard exists. Maybe these Bonus tracks are audience recordings?
The Las Vegas, March 22 1975 (M.S)  was previously released on the excellent 'Back With A Bang' Audionics CD - See here for EIN's review.

Easter Weekend 30/31 March 2013

'Vegas Variety Vol. 10' New Import CD: Rainbow Records proudly presents the final release in their series “Vegas Variety”. It will be presented in real good sound for an audience recording. When Rainbow Records released their first volume in the "Vegas Variety“ series in 2007, they had the dream about presenting at least one Vegas-Show from each year. The goal was to not only share great music and concerts but they soon learned that each show has at least one special highlight that deserves to be heard by fans worldwide.
During the research they found rare and never before seen photos of Elvis in Vegas and also had the chance to track down some nice memorabilia and unreleased shots of the International / Hilton Hotel. Being fans and collectors themselves, their priority was always to give the fans something „nice & new“. With this 10th release in the "Vegas Variety“ Rainbow Records presents an unreleased recording of the September 5, 1971 Dinner Show performance. 'It‘s Impossible', 'Lawdy Miss Clawdy', 'Sweet Caroline' - it‘s your choice which song you call your personal highlight this time. With the release of a show from 1971 Rainbow Records has accomplished their goal to cover each year from the Vegas Years 1969-1976.
So today, more than 5 years later after the initial release it‘s time to look back: 10 Volumes of "Vegas Variety“ means also a total of 10 unique shows on 12 silver factory pressed CDs. With the releases Rainbow Records was able to present you ultra rare versions of songs like 'Until Then', 'You Better Run', 'Rock My Soul', 'Aubrey', 'Cryin‘ Time' and 'Just Pretend'. Each release featured an extensive booklet of 16-20 pages with background information and great photos of our man in action. With a total of nearly 200 pages these ten booklets are all combined no longer a booklet, but can be called a book! Rainbow Records likes to thank you for your loyalty and the support through the years.
EIN notes that superfan Ciscoking adds, "The show, is okay...sound too.. I know the source.. for junkies like me a must-have"

'Flesh, Blood & Bone' - new Import CD: Another massive (and rather odd) compilation from the Victrola label - 'Flesh, Blood & Bone - Elvis Revisits His Golden Years, 1957-´58'.
The publicity states.. Our previous release dealt with 1956, arguably the best year of Elvis’ career. It was the year that Elvis shot to stardom, broke numerous industry records, and recorded and released an abundance of sensational music. That year, Elvis was the hottest name in the music business. He was the ‘talk of the town’ and created mass hysteria wherever he went, and controversy with almost everything he did. His television appearances made him a household name in a matter of a few months, and his first movie ‘Love Me Tender’ was a smash hit. That year, he could do no wrong. The girls wanted him, and the guys wanted to be like him. He inspired many to pick up a guitar and have their own go at a career. Many acts inspired by him began to pop up everywhere. The success of Elvis Aaron Presley was like nothing the music industry had experienced before.
This release pays tribute to these magical years by focusing on the songs that Elvis recorded in this timeframe. But instead of presenting you with the regular studio masters, we try to bring you an alternative perspective by using studio outtakes, home recordings, later live versions, alternate masters and one-liners… some unreleased, others rare or unavailable on CD. With these years being so crucial for Elvis’ career, it’s no surprise that he returned to these songs time and again. We have also used relevant dialogue from interviews and from concerts to give the listener additional insight into these songs and the period during which they were originally recorded…. Elvis’ Golden Years.
140 tracks from the period 1956/1977 - one-liners from tours, Lake Tahoe and Las Vegas - Deluxe 3CD package with rare pix and indepth liner-notes - Rare Outtakes, Alternate Masters and HomeRecordings - many rare versions from specific tours/engagements and interviews for the first time on CD.

'Never-Ending Demand' Vol.3 and Vol.4 - More New Import CDs: To be released March 8, 2013: Rainbow Records proudly presents a new CD set (two separate cds) called “Never-Ending Demand” Vol. 3 + Vol. 4, featuring Elvis Presley´s complete performances of May 3, 1975 (Afternoon Show on Vol 3, Evening Show on Vol 4) at the Civic Center in Monroe, LA. Both shows have not been released on cd so far and will be presented in real good sound for an audience recording.
Although the “King” had turned 40 in January 1975, it seemed like there was never-ending demand for Elvis. Even during this tour (known as “Tour # 13”) he had to play several shows in the same city to make people happy.
When the Colonel worked out the route for the tour, one of his rules was, that it didn‘t make sense to plan every day in advance. He contacted the management of venues and gave his O.K. to start selling tickets. In case the tickets sold like fresh bread, the management had the chance to
ask for a second show, or if the demand was there, for a third one. During this tour, Elvis played 2 shows in Tampa, FL; the demand in Lakeland caused him to play a total of three gigs and to stay one more day than originally planned. Because of the huge demand in Atlanta where Elvis played three days in a row, there was no space for additional shows in Murfreesboro on April 29th.
That‘s the reason why the additional two shows had to be added to the end of the tour which resulted in an unusual travel road for the showgroup. The fans in Lake Charles, LA were fortunate enough to see two shows on one day and the fans in Monroe, LA were also blessed to see the Elvis show twice that historical May 3, 1975. And what the fans saw and heard this day was nothing less but great, as reporter J. P. Casey wrote in his May 4 “Monroe Morning World” article about the afternoon show: “…..when Presley really works at a number, such as How Great Thou Art, he is truly magnificent. And when he lets all the stops out on a number that has a good arrangement and full orchestra and backup vocals, such as Burning Love he is dynamite.”

'Such Night' - New Import CD:  The forthcoming release from the "SR" label is titled "Such Night" and will feature the unreleased show from Las Vegas August 16, 1969 Midnight Show.
(EIN Note; Why the CD is called "Such Night" and not the correct 'Such A Night' is beyond belief. There are other sloppy spelling mistakes too!)
After a long research finally we located a good Audience Recording that gives us the possibility to produce a show from Elvis very first season.
As everybody knows SR concentrates its work on early 70's live period of Elvis' activity, trying to produce always unreleased shows with Elvis at the top of his possibilities. In this our new release, we are proud to present the almost complete show from August 16th midnight 1969 performance of the first Elvis’ historical Vegas season.
The midnight show from August 16th represents one of the best show of Elvis’ first and maybe best Vegas season, Elvis’ first Vegas act is incredible, like a wild animal free from his cage, Elvis gave life to a memorable first season. Dressed in black tunic, Elvis stepped in the stage shaking, gyrating like nothing was changed in the last 9 years of his absence from the stage, He performed the best of his past hits and the new two singles from the Memphis 1969 sessions. The music is the focus of the season, Elvis appear better than ever, concentrate and strong He delivered a long show with no surprises in the track list respect the season, but pure dynamite from the begin to the end of the show.
This recording come from an early generation copy of the master tape, the sound quality is very good considering the first season. We have on our hands the original mono tape of extremely good quality enabling us to carry out simple re-mastering work, concentrating on the reduction of noise trying to achieve a more clear sound and of Elvis, keeping his vocal power up in the central mix and at the same time trying to give a great definition to the background music. The Tape was incomplete, Suspicious Minds was missing and most part of the Life Story dialogue (only the first 48 seconds left), we have been able to include Suspicious Minds from a second source of the same show in the matter to give to the show the deserved completeness. So enjoy our work and realize: this is one of the best possible audience recording of this season you can find all around! In spite the RCA recording of the last week of the season; here you have the chance to listen to a solid and powerful Elvis in an almost complete show far away from nervousness of an opening night or a professional recording.
As usually from this label, this new CD will come in a deluxe digipack, containing a collection of live photographs from the season and informative liner notes +a four pages booklet.

'Southern Gypsy Magic' New Import CD: Out shortly will be Straight Arrow's double-digipak release 'Southern Gypsy Magic' featuring the wild July 23, 1975 Asheville show, plus bonus rarities from July 22 and 24. The show was originally issued on a 1997 CD called "Gyrating Asheville." But recently, Straight Arrow obtained a superior audience taped source, one too good to be kept in the vaults: a recorder equipped with two microphones, so there is noticeable "ambience," due to the channel separation. And, for the first time, the show is presented complete, with no edits.
As spring turned to summer in 1975, Elvis spent June and July touring America's southeastern states, giving fans a memorable series of up-tempo performances, night after night. It would be the last time he would do so with any consistency. Asheville was the final city on his July 1975 tour, with three consecutive nights sold out at the newly-built Civic Center. The middle show on July 23, which makes up the core of this release, offers a number of unexpected inclusions like "Turn Around, Look At Me," "Shake A Hand" and "Promised Land," the Chuck Berry classic released on single the previous fall. Bonus selections include a
July 22 performance of "You Don’t Have To Say You Love Me" (possibly for the last time) and a rare version of "Memphis, Tennessee."
From July 24 is the only known live performance of "Pieces Of My Life." Yes, the complete July 24 show appeared on our 2005 debut, 'Pieces Of My Life'. However, instead of simply copying tracks from that disc, we chose to rework the first-generation tape from scratch, with even better results than eight years ago! The package is topped off with many beautiful images from July 23, plus a photo each from July 22 and 24. If you liked our other July 1975 tour outings, 'Pieces Of My Life' and 'You'll Never Walk Alone', you will love this new 2CD-set. Do not miss the opportunity to own the ultimate release of Elvis' magical July 23, 1975 Asheville show.

'3000 South Paradise Road' FTD CD Review: A two-CD release with 16-page booklet this FTD takes a close look at Elvis’ engagement at the Las Vegas Hilton in August of 1972.
The main disc is the Dinner Show from August 12, 1972 and the second disc is culled from the rehearsals on August 4th, the date of the opening of the engagement.
'3000 South Paradise Road' provides a unique experience of Elvis rehearsing, 6 hours before the opening night at the Las Vegas Hilton. August 1972 was a great period with Elvis out of those typical jumpsuits and looking cool in his two-piece suits. Created by true Elvis fans for Elvis collectors - and with the fabulous audio remaster of the fine August 12 Dinner Show - this is what the FTD label is all about.

'College Park, September 28, 1974' New Import CD: Coming soon, Elvis As Recorded Live In College Park Maryland - September 28, 1974.
A 2 Cd-Set, Newly remastered with 39 tracks including "Big Boss Man", "Love Me Tender", "Trying To Get To You", "Heartbreak Hotel", "How Great Thou Art", "Hawaiian Wedding Song", "Blue Suede Shoes" and many others...
Including a 12 pages booklet with photos and recording information.
This show was released on the "A Profile - The King On Stage Vol.2" boxset (released in 1996) from the Fort Baxter label - Now available for the first time on 2 cds including bonus tracks recorded live on tour.
One Of The Most Talked About Shows... (EIN notes- because it was so poor!!)
The 1974 College Park concerts were certainly a low-point in Elvis' career. "Elvis pulls up in the car, and he fell out of the limousine, to his knees. People jumped to help, and he pushed them away like, 'Don't help me.' He walked onstage and held on to the mike for the first thirty minutes like it was a post." Listening to it is analogous to
watching a train wreck in slow motion. Elvis' speech is slurred, his performance is sloppy, and the crowd just loves it!
The remastered 'Chaos In College Park' from the previous day is reviewed in detail here.

New FTD Releases for April: Three new releases announced by FTD for April release, plus the already noted book/CD package 'Summer of 61'.

7.Power Of My Love, 8.Gentle On My Mind, 9.After Loving You, 10.True Love Travels On A Gravel Road, 11.Any Day Now, 12.In The Ghetto, FIRST TAKES: 13.Wearin’ That Loved On Look (tks3,10), 14.Only The Strong Survive (tk1), 15.Long Black Limousine (tk 6), 16.It Keeps Right On A-Hurtin’ (tks 1,2), 17.I’m Movin’ On (tks 1,2), 18.Power Of My Love (tk 1), 19.After Loving You (tk 2), 20.True Love Travels On A Gravel Road (tk 2), 21.Any Day Now (tks 1,2), 22.In The Ghetto (tk 1), 23.In The

Ghetto (tks 2,3), 24.In The Ghetto (tk 4).
EIN notes that this does not complete FTDs look at the 1969 Memphis Sessions as the following tracks have still not been released with their session outtakes - Rubberneckin', My Little Friend, Mama Liked The Roses, Don’t Cry Daddy, Hey Jude, I'll Be There, Kentucky Rain, If I'm A Fool (For Loving You), Who Am I?, It's My Way/This Time/I Can't Stop Loving You (jam) and Poor Man’s Gold.
GO HERE to EIN's FTD release page for full details.

- 'Stay Away, Joe'. A single CD extended soundtrack album.
A look at Elvis' Nashville Studio B soundtrack session for 'Stay Away, Joe' from October 1967 and January 1968. FTD 118 (506020-975056)
Features the Masters and various outtakes of the songs 'Stay Away', 'Stay Away Joe', 'Dominic', 'All I Needed Was The Rain', 'Goin' Home', 'Too Much Monkey Business' and 'U.S. Male'.
EIN notes that a large number of these outtakes have never been released before. With 'Too Much Monkey Business' and 'U.S. Male' - plus the good humor during 30 attempts at 'Goin' Home' - there is

plenty to enjoy here plus four takes of 'Dominic' (poor Elvis!).
GO HERE to EIN's FTD release page for full tracklistings and details.

- 'On Stage' Special double-VINYL: FTD vinyl is pleased to announce the release of 'On Stage' a Special Limited Edition 2-disc 180-gram vinyl set.
The tracklist features a selection of Elvis' February Las Vegas recordings plus the 1969 'Runaway' but doesn’t follow the track list of the original "On Stage" album. It also for some reason does not include the original "additional" 1969 track 'Yesterday'.
It is however a very interesting compilation of Elvis live in 1972 on VINYL with tracks compiled from several FTD CD releases, 'On Stage' and 'Polk Salad Annie' and 'At The International'.

'Aloha Jerry!' New Import CD: Audionics returns with their first CD of the year, dedicated to the eighth Las Vegas season. After the worldwide triumph of his "Aloha" benefit show, Elvis returned to a routine that was no longer challenging, two performances a night for a month. And it showed. Still, there were moments of joy. On January 28, "Elvis On Tour," nabbed Golden Globe's Best Documentary Film award. His current single, "Separate Ways," made top 15 in Cash Box. And he closed out the Vegas run with a fabulous performance on February 23, in front of superstars and astronauts. Here we have a complete recording of that evening February 23 Closing Night, Audience recording by a super-fan. Elvis delivers on a night that would be bass player Jerry Scheff's last for more than two years. As a bonus, selections from a newly-discovered, February 10 soundboard tape are included. This tape has a bass-heavy mix, possibly as a guide for future Presley bass players. The closing night audience tape is previously unreleased, taken from a first-generation copy of an original "booth recording," made from a booth close to the stage and PA speakers. It is remarkably superior to all previous editions of this show.

Two New FTD Books: FTD have planned two new Flaming Star book co-productions.
- 'The Best of the British - The HMV Years 1956-1958' written by Trevor Simpson. This is the story of EVERY song by Elvis released on the British HMV label. It is an eclectic mix of graphic illustrations of the labels, the charts and rare memorabilia through 1956 - 1958.
Thorough research of each song and songwriter has taken many years and provides the definitive history of the music that shook the world, sensationally revealing many previously unknown facts and British connections to Elvis and his music.
The book contains over 1000 rare and unpublished photographs, the illustrations connected to the songs, the recordings and the promotion of Elvis by HMV in Britain.
Included, and officially gathered together for the FIRST TIME on two exclusive CDs, is every Elvis track released by HMV. Most of these are, of course, the fifties master takes but also added to these are bonus songwriter demos and Elvis outtakes, including some of the 'Love Me Tender' Stereo versions. These help complete the audio story upon which the foundation of the global popular music culture and industry was built.
This is Elvis and the story of the impact of The King of Rock ‘n’ Roll in Great Britain.
(Go here to FTD SONY 2013 page for full tracklist)

- 'Summer of '61' : Following the success of 'Welcome Home Elvis' and 'From Memphis To Hollywood', Flaming Star productions will release 'SUMMER OF ’61' in April of this year. The focus is on the summer months of 1961, with the main focus on the making of the movie Follow That Dream filmed on location in Florida in the months July and August 1961.
The book presents original newspaper articles, new exclusive interviews from the cast, the crew, and local residents, and also details about scenes deleted from the final print. The book includes over 200 stunning unpublished photos taken from the original negatives + a CD.

Details about the accompanying CD will follow shortly.

'Country Hero in Vegas!' New Import: To be released in early February on the VV label will be their second release entitled "Country Hero in Vegas!" featuring the unreleased Las Vegas performances on January 30th 1971, dinner show. After the success of the first release We decided: first to improve the product and second, keeping the same formula to give you more.…..
Here we present Elvis to the begin of the season .. no surprises in the tracklist with the exception of his latest single There Goes My Everything, but the show is extremely solid and good, the sound is good and powerful using a straight copy of the original source tape, We were able to keep Elvis' vocal power central to the mix whilst at the same time giving a new definition to the supporting musicians and singers.
The season will be remembered for the introduction of the new opening composition 'Also Sprach Zarathustra', also for the beautiful new closing number ‘The Impossible Dream’ which Elvis sang with power and feeling giving us proof that Elvis continued to grow as a performer.
The LP 140 VINYL GRAM is a LIMITED HAND NUMBERED 500 COPIES. It comes with an three fold 300 gram high quality GLOSSY sleeve both sides printed, giving an unique view. The sleeve will be accompanied by relevant liner notes and with many photographs of the Elvis NOW suit from the season.
This vinyl will include a bonus CD and 7” vinyl EP. In the bonus CD you have the possibility to listen the complete concert + a selection of 16 songs (32 min) soundboard recording, coming for the previous four days shows.
From the opening night January 26 you can have the possibility to listen the evolution of Elvis’ performing during the begin of the season, we practically included all the songs no performed in the January 30 DS . In January RCA released what is without doubt the best Elvis album of the 1970’s, Elvis Country. In this season of Elvis performed three songs from the album. From here the EP idea in the matter to give the possibility to use the three songs performed to create a special Elvis Country EP. The EP comes with four songs and two fold sleeve both printed.

'Hot Love In A Long, Cold Winter' - New Import CD: Out shortly is the new Straight Arrow release “Hot Love In A Long, Cold Winter”, which contains the St. Petersburg Feb 14 and Columbia Feb 18, 1977 concerts from newly obtained original audience recorded cassettes which both have surprisingly good sound. The Elvis tour in February of that year was affected in various ways by the weather conditions, which sometimes resulted in delays at airports and illness among the musicians and crew members. Presley himself was in less than stellar condition, and complained of a sore throat on some nights. Elvis gained some weight since the last tour, and the manic feel of those final December nights was now gone, but from February 14, he was in good voice for all remaining shows of his tour, and he even included rarities like ‘Release Me’ and ‘Blueberry Hill’.
A large chunk of the February 14 show and 2 tracks from February 18 were released from a soundboard sources, but we feel that these audience recorded tapes makes for a more entertaining and exciting listening experience.

Note: The February 18, 1977 show was released in 1992 (Elvis Release Me In Concert) by the Peaf label, which was taken from an inferior source. If you liked our previous outing, 'Chicago Double-Strike', you will enjoy this new release, too.

'Paradise City' New Import CD: Touchdown Productions proudly presents another audience recording of Elvis' concert February 18, 1977 in Columbia, South Carolina. It's represented in the best possible soundquality from a newer source than what was used on the old release "Release Me" from 1992.
The publicity states that - Up above it is possibly the best concert from the first tour in 1977 and without a doubt one of best concerts he gave in 1977!
EIN's friend CiscoKing notes "The show is really not bad and comes from the overall best tour from 1977. Elvis and the band are in a good mood and we have an interesting set list with the highlights being Release Me and Hurt . Also good renditions of Trying To get To You or That`s All Right. The show is okay regarding all the circumstances in 1977.
The previous bootleg "Release Me" was one of the rarer imports, so this may be an interesting upgrade.

'From Elvis Presley Boulevard' FTD In-Depth Review: 'From Elvis Presley Boulevard' was first released in April 1976 but only reached #41 in the charts. It only featured 10 tracks, recorded at Elvis' Graceland home among them 'Hurt', 'Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain' and 'For The Heart'.
BUT if Elvis was "Raised on Rock" then why was 'From Elvis Presley Boulevard' such a middle-of-the-road quagmire of syrupy overdubs and tepid songs? This really wasn’t the album Elvis fans had been waiting for.
In hindsight we now understand more about Elvis’ depressed emotional state at the time and the difficulties involved in getting him enthusiastic enough to record at all.
But if the single ‘Hurt/For The Heart’ was supposed to be the promo for the album, then fans were surely disappointed. Even the cover pretended it was a live concert album - the Colonel must have been desperate! It is certainly one of Elvis’ worst albums.

'Hampton on Tour & Bicentennial '76' - New Import: Gravel road Music doesn’t want to end the year without bringing you one really great release. Two Hampton concerts in stunning sound. The "Bicentennial ’76" will raise a few questions for the critics as Elvis sounds way better now with a mastering job done properly. The second disc is a great re-mastering of the famous Hampton ’72 concert, which blows all previous releases of this show out of the water – Great sound, fantastic dynamics and Elvis in amazing voice. A real treat. We gratefully used original transfers from these concerts. Now you can hear many details and nuances not heard previously, and both recordings sounds more vibrant and spatial than before.
This Special limited 2 CD 'Star-Spangled Spectacular Bicentennial ‘76' includes two spectacular Hampton concerts, the first disc contains the legendary 1976 Hampton Bicentennial concert! The second disc contains the famous 1972 Hampton On Tour Concert!
It comes in a wonderful deluxe digi-pack with booklet, extensive liner notes & photos.
You may have heard this before, but never in this quality.
August 1- 1976 (2:30 pm). Hampton VA. Hampton Coliseum
It was a special year for America. The Bicentennial Year, the two-hundredth anniversary of this great nation. Any American with patriotism wanted to show it in some way. Elvis wanted to spread a positive message about this country throughout this special year, and so he decided to add ‘America The Beautiful’ to his set list.
This concert has never been properly restored and re-mastered. UNTIL NOW!
EIN Note - Interestingly the review by Forest George of August 1, 1976, Hampton Roads was mentioned in original lengthy the publicity - but not his closing words on this 1976 concert.
To quote - "With the sole exception of a rather fun version of 'Return to Sender' (already officially released by FTD on the 'New Haven 1976' release), Elvis Presley needed to be anywhere, but on a stage performing. Majority of the songs were struggles for him just to stay on key. He seemed actually ill, rather than just being over medicated. Unlike some other poor concerts from that year, he wasn't intoxicated enough where he didn't care, as he really tried to make an effort to keep the concert from falling apart. In the end, the concert was one of the worst concerts of 1976, and completely forgettable."

April 9 - 1 1972 (8:30 pm). Hampton VA. Hampton Coliseum. A very special extra concert, Elvis’ remarkable Hampton Roads concert as filmed for "Elvis On Tour" (April 1972). You may have heard this before, but never in this quality. The results are amazing: One of Elvis’ finest shows ever, and now with an ooommpphh that almost places you in the center of all the action. Thanks to the audio improvements, you can hear many details and nuances not heard previously, and the recording now sounds more dynamic and spatial than before.
EIN notes that it is unbelievable that Sony have still not officially released this major concert.

FTD December Releases: Three new FTD releases for December.
- '3000 South Paradise Road' - A two disc 7" "Classic Album" type release with 16-page booklet. It takes a closer look at Elvis’ engagement at the Las Vegas Hilton in August of 1972. The main disc is the excellent Dinner show on August 12, and the second disc is culled from the rehearsals on August 4th, the date of the opening of the engagement.
As with '48 Hours To Memphis' this release has been prepared by Robert Frieser and Hans Slebos, who once again has done a fabulous job of collecting information and materials for the project. There will be additional information in the next few weeks.
'3000 South Paradise Road' provides a unique experience of Elvis rehearsing, 6 hours before the opening night at the Las Vegas Hilton on August 4, 1972. As disc 2 is captured on a personal tape recorder, the sonic quality is below standards, but historical significance more than compensates for its audio limitations. Disc 1 is a soundboard recording.
This is a great Las Vegas dinner show from August 11, 1972 with Elvis in a confident mood, giving excellent performances on almost every song, and enjoying being back on stage. Elvis wore a cool range of two piece suits and was up for lots of karate action and with lots of energy. Previously released as the bootleg 'Blazing Into The Darkness'.

Disc 2 - THE REHEARSAL: 1) You Don't Have To Say You Love Me 2) Until It's Time For You To Go 3) You've Lost That Loving Feeling 4) Burning Love 5) What Now My Love (version 1) 6) What Now My Love (version 2) 7) My Babe 8) For The Good Times 9) True Love Travels On A Gravel Road 10) Fever 11) Blueberry Hill 12) Little Sister – incomplete 13) I’ll Remember You 14) An American Trilogy 15) Something 16) Faded Love 17) You Gave Me A Mountain 18) I’m Leavin’ 19) My Way (version 1) 20) My Way (version 2)

Things have come a long way in 25 years and now we are really spoilt.
