DVD Review - "Lilo& Stitch 2: Stitch Has A Glitch"

The follow-up film (direct to DVD) to 2002's biggest conventionally animated hit has been worth the wait. With a similar "Elvis" sub-theme in the narrative and three aurally satisfying recordings from The King, youngsters and their parents will be well satisfied after watching this enjoyable, fun filled release.

In the follow up (actually the 3rd film in the series as Stitch The Movie, sans Elvis theme, has also been released), the lovable rogue, Stitch, is acting strangely and the world of Lilo & Stitch starts going haywire. It turns out the experiment which resulted in Stitch wasn't fully completed.

What ensues is a fast paced and funny race to save Stitch from dieing. And importantly, it takes a whole lotta "Ohana" (and a little Elvis) for Lilo, Nani and Jumba to save their funny little friend.

The three Elvis songs are the much undervalued, I Need Your Love Tonight, and the two remix tracks, A Little Less Conversation (Elvis vs JXL) and Rubberneckin'. A Little Less Conversation is particularly well used in the film.

The running time is only 68 minutes but the DVD extras make up for any feeling of brevity. They include:

  • Bonus video "The Origin of Stitch"
  • Games & Activities Jumba's Experiment Profiler
  • Music video "Hawaiian Rollercoaster Ride" performed by Jump 5

EIN previewed the US NTSC copy. The digitally mastered visuals are crisp and colorful and come in "Family Friendly Widescreen (1.78:1), enhanced for 16x9 Televisions". The audio comes in DTS and Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound. There are French and Spanish language tracks on the US DVD release.

The DVD is released by Walt Disney Pictures and is rated PG due to "some mild action". A colorful picture disc nicely complements the attractive packaging.

EIN's Verdict: If you liked the original fim you'll love the follow up. Crack open the Coke and popcorn. And remember, "Ohana" means....

Youngster's verdict: "Cool"
