'Aloha From Hawaii' FTD 3CD set: When seeking key career highpoints, Elvis’ multi-faceted musical legacy certainly divides opinion amongst fans and critics alike. However, if one goes by the sales and the audience viewing numbers too, there is only one answer. Aloha From Hawaii Via Satellite.
- RCA’s double album of the show was released throughout the world in February and shot to the #1 spot in many countries including the U.S. The album went to #1 on the Billboard album chart and reigned supreme from late February until late October, re-entering in late December for another two months. Today in the U.S. the album stands at 5.5 million sales and is certified 5x Platinum by the RIAA.
- To acknowledge this achievement, FTD is proud to present an upgraded re-release of Aloha From Hawaii Via Satellite utilizing the talents of successful Memphian recording engineer Matt-Ross Spang who has newly remixed the original broadcasted show and the after-concert 3:00 AM crowd-less masters including rehearsal performances for the first time. Also included is the Sony Legacy 2013 remix of the rehearsal show from January 12. (Recommended by EIN! See review)
- Packaged in FTD's ‘complete sessions’ style 8” x 8” slipcase, this deluxe 3-CD contains a 28-page color booklet, great photos, memorabilia and insightful essay.
CD3 Features the extra tracks recorded after the audience had gone home (EIN Note: Who thought that was a fair idea!!) several of these outakes / rehearsals have not been previously released officially.
- Priced around £45 = US$62 - To be released next month.

"Elvis: Back in Nashville" Out Now!: The official announcement from SONY that the long-awaited box-set is officially released.
The SONY publicity notes... This comprehensive collection chronicles Elvis’ fabled 1971 marathon recording session that would be his final session in Nashville.
These pristine recordings reveal some of the most compelling singing of his career and include “I’m Leavin’,” “My Way,” and “If Fools Rush In (Where Angels Fear To Tread).”
EIN NOTE: Sadly the song is called "Fools Rush In" and not  “If Fools Rush In"!
"Elvis: Back in Nashville" is an essential addition to any collection.
Like its predecessor 'Elvis: Back In Nashville' is designed to showcase Elvis and his core band as they sounded during the actual sessions without orchestral overdubs and vocal accompaniment. A key difference between Elvis’ 1970 and 1971 Nashville sessions is that many of the 1971 recordings included backing singers; therefore, 'Elvis: Back In Nashville' offers a variety of song performances both with and without vocal augmentation.
This amazing collection is available on vinyl 2 LP 12” edition and 4-CD Box Set!

"Elvis Back In Nashville" 8/10 Review: It's great to see the mainstream music press already giving truly positive reviews to the new "Elvis Back In Nashville" box-set that comes out next week.
UNCUT uk music magazine have already reviewed it noting....
"The King's final recordings in the country music capital"
Elvis Presley was more ambitious than his late career output might suggest.
During his 1971 sessions in Nashville, he cut tracks for his dream project: a folk-rock record featuring songs by Buffy Sainte-Marie, Kris Kristofferson and others. Sadly, it never saw the light of day, and tracks from those sessions were scattered across cookie-cutter collections throughout the'70s.
'Elvis Back In Nashville' collects those recordings in one place, showcasing his stylistic range (gospel, carols, standards... you name it) and offering a glimpse of what might have been.
Despite being sold as a nostalgia act, Elvis was absolutely devoted to whatever he song he was singing. He immersed himself in the story and invested each line with nuance and character, whether it's the casually funky "Put Your Hand In The Hand" or the delicate "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" (recorded while he had the flu).
Box-Set rates 8/10.
Extras: 6/10. Archival photos and liner notes by David Cantwell.

You can also have a sneak preview of 30 seconds of every track via PlatoMania - CLICK HERE to listen

“I’ll Take You Home Again Kathleen” New Promo Video: The new 50th Anniv release 'Elvis Back In Nashville' is out next month, Nov 12.
On May 20, 1971 in the early hours of the morning, having laid down a few tracks for his up-coming Gospel album, Elvis sat down at the piano on his own and trying to relive the emotion of singing alone in Graceland, Elvis sang three old favourites for his studio friends.
These were two by Ivory Joe Hunter 'It's Still Here' and 'I Will Be True' plus an old classic 'I’ll Take You Home Again Kathleen'.
Elvis singing alone playing piano in Studio B was a totally unique situation and was luckily recorded by RCA.
Elvis only sang the one take. This was overdubbed by Felton Jarvis for release -Go here to YouTube to watch.

Three New FTD Releases for November: After a few quiet months - see FTD fire story below - FTD announce three new releases for next month. The long-awaited "Pot Luck Sessions" as a 5cd set, a Spring 1975 double- soundboard from Tampa and Atlanta (both previously unreleased) and the 'Raised On Rock' double VINYL.

- 'Elvis: The Pot Luck Sessions' 5cd box-set: FTD’s acclaimed series continues with one of the most commercially successful recording sessions of Elvis’ career 'The Pot Luck Sessions'.
It is without doubt the ultimate triumph for Hill & Range’s song plugger Freddy Bienstock. Superbly crafted hits like “Little Sister”, (Marie’s The Name) His Latest Flame”, “Good Luck Charm” and She’s Not You” dominated pop charts throughout the world in the early ‘60s and Elvis’ flawless performances accompanied by Nashville’s finest musicians still resonate today some 60 years later.

If “Easy Question”, “Suspicion” “I’m Yours” and “Kiss Me Quick” had been released as 45 rpm singles during this fertile period, and not years after, undoubtedly each could have matched the chartbusting success of the others.
This remastered 5-CD boxed set includes a 28-page booklet featuring an insightful essay, rare photographs, memorabilia, and recording data

- 'Elvis: South Bound' 2cd Soundboard: As part of its ongoing live on tour series, FTD is pleased to announce the release of 'Elvis: South Bound Tampa / Atlanta ‘75'.
Released as a 2-CD 5” digi-pak, this set features Elvis' two shows: Curtis Hixon Convention Center, Tampa, April 26, 1975 (2:30 PM) and Omni Coliseum, Atlanta, May 2, 1975 (8:30 PM)
Both soundboards are incomplete with both concerts starting after 'I Got A Woman' with Elvis' third song 'Love Me'...
EIN Note: in 2017 FTD released 'Elvis In Altanta' two of his three 1975 shows that he performed in this tour. At the time we noted that the audio mix left a little to be desired "The sound quality is what we expect from this tour with VERY prominent Piano and Voices but with everything else - drums, guitar, orchestra - way in the background. The benefit is you can easily hear Elvis" but we also noted "There is no doubt that he was well loved by his adoring audiences in Atlanta. The Omni ‘Opening Night’ captures a great crowd reaction and Elvis truly enjoying himself on stage. Worth playing several times." lets hope his final Omni performance is as good.

FTD Fire Down Below: The original September FTD release news we were expecting suddenly never happened. It seemed that something had gone wrong - and indeed we have the terrible news confirmed today that there has been a fire at the Denmark Impulse warehouse where all the FTD stock is stored.
FTD's Roger Semon has said that the fire was a few weeks ago and a lot of older stock - "almost the entire FTD catalogue" according to some - has been destroyed.

The fire luckily did not go through the whole factory. Fingers crossed that some stock may be recovered.
EIN is not sure if this has affected release of the new FTD 'Making Of Jailhouse Rock' book from David English.

'Elvis: Fort Worth, Texas 1974' FTD in-depth Review: This FTD double-pack features two concerts from Elvis’ third tour of 1974, both performances from Father's Day in Fort Worth, Texas, June 16 1974. Elvis performed four shows at the 14,000 seater Tarrant County Convention Center in Fort Worth Texas. These were the first four shows of Elvis' Tour #11 so he was ready to rock. Reviews included, "Elvis put on one sharp, uptown and professional show. Wrapped skintight or loosely white bellbottoms and waist-length jacket. Elvis had the show in the palm of his hand".
In fine humour, at the evening show Elvis jokes that the whole band are from Texas... “John Wilkinson from Waco Texas, Ronnie Tutt from Dallas Texas, Duke Bardwell from Abilene Texas, Charlie Hodge from Decateur Texas, Voice from Nashville Texas and Joe Guercio with the all-Texas choir band! And I’m from Tupelo, Texas."
Go here as Elvis soundboard super-collector Geoffrey McDonnell & EIN's Piers Beagley give you the complete low-down on this new FTD double-pack ....

'Think Twice: Elvis in The Studio 1971': The forthcoming 'Back In Nashville' boxset is going to shine the spotlight on Elvis' 1971 sessions which have traditionally been ignored by the official label. In this fascinating and detailed article EIN contributor Shane Brown examines these all too easily dismissed Nashville sessions and discovers some real gems.
It’s very easy to look at the March, May and June 1971 recordings out of context. While the recordings are certainly not up to the standard of those from June 1970, it’s also true to say that Elvis was in a very different place personally by spring 1971.
In June 1970 Elvis was riding the crest of a wave with his recent successes but by January 1971 he was in the newspapers due to an ongoing paternity suit.
The Presley’s marriage was on the rocks and Elvis was having problems with his eyes.
However despite all of this there was something very interesting going on during the 1971 sessions.

‘Elvis: Back In Nashville’ Out Friday Nov 12: The official RCA/SONY announcement..
RCA/Legacy Commemorates 50th Anniversary of Elvis Presley’s Final Nashville Sessions with release of 'Elvis: Back In Nashville' on Friday, November 12
The 4 Disc Collection presents 82 pristine Studio Original Recordings, free of overdubs.
Like its predecessor 'From Elvis In Nashville' from last year, 'Elvis: Back In Nashville' is designed to showcase Elvis Presley and his core band as they sounded during the actual sessions without orchestral overdubs and vocal accompaniment. A key difference between Elvis’ 1970 and 1971 Nashville sessions is that many of the 1971 recordings included backing singers; therefore, Elvis: Back In Nashville offers a variety of song performances both with and without vocal augmentation.
Given the prolific output of great recordings created by Elvis during the fabled 1970 marathon sessions that may be heard on From Elvis In Nashville, RCA and the Elvis camp decided to stick with the winning combination of tight band, seasoned studio, well-chosen repertoire and relaxed spontaneous Elvis behind the microphone and record as much material as possible over a short period of time.
With Elvis’ upcoming concert activities increasing, future studio time would be limited and so the goal of these sessions was to generate perhaps a year’s worth of new songs. RCA and the Colonel let Elvis know they’d like a new Christmas album, a gospel album, a pop album, and “several new singles for summer and fall releases” and so, Elvis’ music coordinator/producer Felton Jarvis booked a whole week of all-night sessions starting March 15, 1971 and brought on the same band he’d used the year before.
Elvis Presley’s return in 1970 to recording in Nashville had been revelatory. Those sessions, on the heels of his Memphis recordings and a return to the stage, had done more than simply sustain a comeback. They also introduced Elvis to a great new rhythm section and gifted Elvis with a great new sound. Bassist Norbert Putnam, drummer Jerry Carrigan, and pianist David Briggs had helped transform country music rhythms in the sixties after they transplanted their R&B-indebted style from F. A. M. E. studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, to Nashville session work. When producer Felton Jarvis teamed Elvis with the Muscle Shoals boys, along with session guitarist Chip Young, jack of all musical trades Charlie McCoy, and Presley’s bandleader James Burton, they together created the belatedly acclaimed Elvis Country in the process providing Elvis with a country-soul template he’d trace often in the last years of his life.
Music critic Dave Marsh once wrote that, even with his acclaim, “Elvis Presley was probably the most underrated singer of all.” Overdubs removed, what’s revealed on Elvis: Back In Nashville is some of the most compelling singing of Presley’s career.
Disc 1 features 18 tracks and includes The Country/Folk Sides (an unrealized Elvis project featuring songs by Ewan McColl, Gordon Lightfoot, Kris Kristofferson, Buffy Sainte-Marie, and Bob Dylan), The Piano Recordings (raw Elvis singing Ivory Joe Hunter with piano accompaniment) and The Pop Sides (classic pop compositions including “Padre,” “Fools Rush In Where Angels Fear To Tread,” “My Way,” “I’m Leavin'” and more).
Disc 2 features 25 tracks divided between The Religious Sides (classic and contemporary gospel) and The Christmas Sides (sacred and secular seasonal holiday music).
Disc 3 features 19 tracks and picks up on the country pop repertoire adding some rock ‘n’ roll with a variety of cuts including impromptu performances of “Johnny B. Goode” and “Lady Madonna,” an epic take on Bob Dylan’s “Don’t Think Twice, (It’s Alright)”, fresh interpretations of “Help Me Make It Through The Night,” “Early Morning Rain” and more.
Disc 4 features 20 tracks and includes The Religious Outtakes and The Christmas Outtakes

'ELVIS: Las Vegas Hilton ‘73' FTD Review: Released last month as double 5” digi-pak, this set features Elvis in two shows at the Las Vegas Hilton, August 20 (midnight) and September 2nd (3AM) - in his 9th Las Vegas season.
The August 20, 1973 (Midnight Show) is an old favourite that was released as a Fort Baxter bootleg back in 1995 on 'A Profile The King On Stage Vol 1'. It was a "stereo sound booth audience recording" in pretty good quality.
The September 2, 1973 (3AM show) however is previously unreleased - and it is great fun!
After the earlier traumas Elvis’ health had improved by his 1973 Las Vegas Summer Season and while there is a slight feeling of boredom (which can be no surprise after the peak of Aloha) Elvis was enjoying himself teasing the audience and playing pranks. He would also add new songs ‘Trouble’ and ‘My Boy’ to the setlist while still feeling the freshness of ‘Steamroller Blues’.

Thursday 1 July 2021
Two New FTDs: Two new FTDs have been announced, a double 1974 soundboard plus 'Girls!, Girls!, Girls!' on VINYL.
1.“ELVIS: FORT WORTH, TEXAS ‘74”. FTD is pleased to announce the release of “ELVIS: FORT WORTH, TEXAS ‘74”- June 16, 1974. Released as a 5” digipack, and taken from the original soundboard source, this 2-CD set features Elvis in excellent form from the summer tour of 1974.
Elvis was in great form at the two shows on Father’s Day! Songs include “Big Boss Man”, “Funny How Time Slips Away”, “How Great Thou Art” and “Help Me”.
These two performances have never been released on Soundboard before.
While the setlists were very similar Elvis did perform the rare-for-on-tour-1974 'How Great Thou Art' at the evening show.
EIN Adds: Elvis performed four shows at the 14,000 seater Tarrant County Convention Center in Fort Worth Texas. These were the first four shows of Elvis' Tour #11 so he was ready to rock.
The Opening Show newspaper review included,
"Elvis put on one sharp, uptown and professional show here Saturday afternoon. Wrapped skintight or loosely white bellbottoms and waist-length jacket. Elvis had the show in the palm of his hand.
He moved smoothly through a few Elvis oldies and wheeled into heavier stuff ...'Why Me Lord' and 'Suspicious Minds'.
Elvis was relaxed, comfortable before an obviously warm audience. His easy rapport with backup musicians and singers buoyed the show."

FTD have previously released five shows from this tour #11 all very enjoyable listening.
Rockin' Across Texas (CD1) June 19, Sold Out! CD2 June 21, ELVIS: Omaha Nebraska '74 CD1&2 June 30 (both shows), Fashion For A King (CD1) Omaha July 1. While the setlists were very similar Elvis did perform the rare-for-on-tour-1974 'How Great Thou Art' at the evening show.

1) 'ELVIS: Las Vegas ‘73' - double 5” digi-pak.
As part of its ongoing live on tour series, FTD announces the release of ELVIS: LAS VEGAS ‘73.
Released as a 2-CD 5” digi-pak, this set features Elvis from two shows at the Las Vegas Hilton; August 20 (midnight) and September 2nd (3AM).
EIN Notes: The August 20, 1973 (Midnight Show) is an old favourite that was released as a Fort Baxter bootleg back in 1995 on 'A Profile The King On Stage Vol 1'. It was a "stereo sound booth audience recording" in pretty good quality. Fans can expect an upgraded release.
The September 2, 1973 (3AM show) is previously unreleased.
Elvis was not happy at this Las Vegas season. He walked on stage at the final concert with a monkey on his back and was in a bad mood with both Col Parker and the Hilton.

2) 'Love Me Tender – Through The Lens Of Robert Vose' Book / CD Combo. FTD Books is pleased to present “Love Me Tender – Through The Lens of Robert Vose”.

Tuesday 20 April 2021
Two New FTD Releases: For May 2021 release FTD have announced a 1973 Las Vegas double-concert pack plus a new Pål Granlund / David English looking at Elvis' first movie Love Me Tender.

It was a "stereo sound booth audience recording" in pretty good quality. As FTD do not state that these are both soundboards it is a good possibility that CD1 is the same booth recording but upgraded.
The September 2, 1973 (3AM show) is previously unreleased.
Elvis was not happy at this Las Vegas season. He walked on stage at the final concert with a monkey on his back and was in a bad mood with both Col Parker and the Hilton.
The cover photo (see 'Elvis - Caught in a Trap' by Arjan Deelen & Laurens Van Houten) features Elvis with the monkey peeping over his shoulder.
The incredulous Closing Show was released by FTD back in 2004. While not a "great" concert it is totally fascinating for Elvis' powerful, no holds bared, comments and performances.  See EIN review here.

'Bruce Jackson, On The Road With Elvis' OUT NOW: Gary Jackson’s 2018 book on his brother’s adventures on the road as Elvis’ sound engineer between 1971 and 1977, complete with three new cds.
CD 1: An audio documentary on Elvis in 1976 hosted by Jack Mullins.
CD 2: Previously unreleased soundboard of Elvis’ concert in Sioux Falls, October 18th 1976.
CD 3: Previously unreleased soundboard of Elvis’ concert in Atlanta, December 30th 1976.
OUT NOW - It is a strictly limited release so if you want it you need to chase Elvis dealers now.
EIN Notes: Wow, EIN thought the FTD deluxe 'TTWII' 600-page book with 8

1970 rehearsal cds was expensive at £180 but this set at £111 (US$240) for a 200-page book (not totally on Elvis) plus two 1976 soundboard concerts (with audio doco) seems ludicrous. Atlanta December 1976 features a very poor piano-heavy audio mix. Hopefully FTD see reason and release the soundboards as a CD- double-pack after this limited edition sells-out - See Below for tracklist and more details

‘From Elvis in Nashville’ Box-set EIN In-Depth Review: A 4CD collection presenting the definitive chronicle of Elvis' 1970 marathon sessions with the "Nashville Cats".
Recorded live in RCA's Studio B over the course of an epic five day run in June 1970 now, for the first time, the sessions are presented in pristine audio, newly mixed by acclaimed engineer Matt Ross-Spang without the added overdubs appearing on earlier releases.
Elvis’ 1970 Nashville session was very different from the previous Memphis sessions or even Elvis’ later sessions. Nashville was a real mix of Elvis recording RCA supplied demos along with one-take spontaneous favourites Elvis threw into the mix.
As Elvis noted, "It don't take much to get these guys going, boy, I'll tell you…. Just give them a "well..." and they're gone. That's what I call 'Sittin' on ready".
EIN's Piers Beagley explores this new box-set to discover one of the best Elvis releases in years..

'Bruce Jackson, On The Road With Elvis' To be released in January: Gary Jackson’s 2018 book on his brother’s adventures on the road as Elvis’ sound engineer between 1971 and 1977, complete with three new cds.
To be released in January 2021. It is a strictly limited release so if you want it pre-order it now.
EIN Notes: Wow, EIN thought the FTD deluxe 'TTWII' 600-page book with 8 1970 rehearsal cds was expensive at £180 but this set at £111 (US$240) for a 200-page book (not totally on Elvis) plus two 1976 soundboard concerts (with audio doco) seems ludicrous.
For super-keen Elvis fans who purchased the book when it was first released, this seems an unfair deal to have to buy it all again just for the 1976 soundboards.
Hopefully FTD see reason and release the soundboards as a separate double-pack - the CD sleeve is after all separate from the book so easy to re-print - after this limited edition package sells-out.

'From Elvis In Nashville' OUT NOW: Great news as Elvis' 2020 major release 'From Elvis In Nashville' is out now, even delivered by the Australian postman at 9am this morning. (Despite rumours the release would be delayed in Australia).
And it is an absolute gem, capturing Elvis creating some truly magnificent Nashville magic. While these Marathon Sessions have often been compared unfavourably with the life-changing 1969 Memphis Sessions Elvis and his core musicians work truly hard as the camarderie between them inspire some of Elvis' best work of the 70s.
The shame is that the core soul of the original recordings of Elvis and the Nashville Cats would often be hidden by the later orchestral overdubs or clean ups.
As the publicity says, "these sessions are presented in pristine audio, newly mixed by acclaimed engineer Matt Ross-Spang without the added overdubs of earlier releases - in other words how Elvis would sound if you were in the room with him" and it is right.
There are delights to discover in the previously unreleased Undubbed Masters such as I've Lost You, The Sound Of Your Cry, The Fool,  It's Your Baby You Rock It, Stranger In The Crowd, Mary In The Morning, Just Pretend, even Bridge Over Troubled Water never before officially released as Undubbed but with harmony vocal.
While others such as I Really Don't Want To Know,The Next Step Is Love, Funny How Time Slips Away, I Washed My Hands In Muddy Water, even Only Believe have a new "fuller" more soulful feel courtesy of the Matt Ross-Spang new audio mixes.
The 28 booklet is packed full of information plus two detailed articles, four pages by Ernst Jorgensen on the session themselves plus an interesting 7-page essay by Nashville author David Cantwell explaining how the musicians all came together to create such important music.
Ernst writes, "What Elvis called "sitting ready" essentially meant that he expected the musicians share his inspired moments and instantly fall in with whatever he began singing.... Spontaneity was key, and to Elvis, it was always about the feel, and not about perfection."
A core thread is that it was the RCA Range & Hill supplied material that let the overall quality drop and plenty of those tracks never even get mentioned in Ernst's session essay.
Like the STAX 2013 deluxe SONY release and 'Way Down In The Jungle Room' once again it is Elvis' pure recordings that prove he was still a force to be reckoned with after the musical renaissance of the 1969 Chips Moman Sessions.
This is a MUST BUY for any Elvis Fan.

‘TTWII 50th Anniversary Collectors Edition’ FTD Book Review: FTD's most expensive set ever published, David English and Pal Granlund bring the complete background story of 'Elvis: That's The Way It Is'. Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the movie's 1970 release, this ultimate collector's edition includes two hardback books, eight cds with over 450 minutes of music, including newly discovered unreleased performances.
With access to 2,000 original negatives and 35mm slides, restored and repaired, many of which have never been seen before, the book also contains items from the MGM and RCA archives including paperwork, documents, memos and recording information.
Two books, 600 pages, plus all the MGM recorded rehearsals - including 70 tracks officially unreleased.
FTD's most expensive set but with the vast majority of the rehearsals already out on bootleg, can it really be worth the US$270 plus postage. Initially Sold Out and already into its first reprint what makes it so desirable?
EIN's Piers Beagley investigates and discovers plenty .. Go here to our 6000 word review including plenty of extracts and stunning images.

'Funny How Time Slips Away', Official Lyric Video: Another promo video for the new 'From Elvis In Nashville' album, the sublime "Funny How Time Slips Away".
This time helping to emphasise Elvis' lyrical interpretation,
Recorded in one single take, Elvis puts his soul into this perfect bluesy rendition of the Willie Nelson classic. Matt Ross-Spang's new remaster adds even more emotion with Charlie McCoy's organ neatly counterpointing James Burton's fine guitar playing.
If this is representative of Matt Ross-Spang's new remastering then this set is going to be a true stunner.

'Bruce Jackson, On The Road With Elvis' The Lost Album!: Fans have been contacting EIN asking what has happend to this up-coming FTD release. Earlier we noted that “Bruce Jackson: On the Road with Elvis” was postponed to November. But now even that seems uncertain. The original books were stored here in Australia, with the CDs being printed in the EU, so the uncertainty about overseas transport costs and the pricing of the overall package is now an issue.
Most Elvis dealers are no longer offering it for Pre-order while Elvis Australia says it is "Sold Out" - which is ridiculous as it hasn't been released yet, nor even priced.
Combined with a 3CD set, an audio documentary hosted by Jack Mullins (singer/songwriter) plus a soundboard recording of the Sioux Falls 10-18-76, and Atlanta 12-30-76 shows.
Fans will just have to wait for a confirmation from FTD.
A November release seems unlikely.

'TTWII Deluxe Set' at Dealers: Finally after the usual FTD delays the brand new 'TTWII Deluxe Set' has arrived at European Elvis shops and are being posted out to customers right now.
Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Elvis performing for the MGM cameras in Las Vegas this deluxe set is a 600 page double-volume book with EIGHT cds featuring the complete rehearsal recordings. Many of which have never been previously officially released.
The most expensive FTD set yet released, fans will be super excited about waiting for the mail-man.
If you want a preview Allan Tychsen in Denmark has posted a YouTube, "Unboxing FTD's That's The Way It Is 50th Anniv Collector's Edition Box Set"
The audio is in Danish, but you can see for yourself how gorgeous the set looks.
There is LOTS of text and plenty of great photos - but gee, those large white borders look like a waste of printing
space which could have featured bigger Elvis images. - EIN wonders how long it will take to get to Australia!

'Bruce Jackson, On The Road With Elvis' New FTD Release: FTD are publishing “Bruce Jackson: On the Road with Elvis” available with a 3CD set! An audio documentary hosted by Jack Mullins (singer/songwriter) plus a soundboard recording of the Sioux Falls 10-18-76, and Atlanta 12-30-76 shows.
Raised in Sydney, audio engineer Bruce Jackson dropped out of university course in 1968 to build stroboscopes, amplifiers and more for the emerging psychedelic concert culture. Little did he know that in just three years he'd be on the road managing Elvis Presley's sound and poised to change forever how live concert sound was presented. In six years with the Elvis Presley Show Bruce established a close professional and personal bond with Elvis who trusted him implicitly to deliver the best sound possible.
Bruce's inventions and technical advances were adopted by the entire live concert touring industry.
'I mixed and ran the sound for Elvis for six years until his death on August 16, 1977. I was 22 when I started working for him. It didn’t seem like a big deal
at the time, working strange hours and constantly on the road to the next city or town. I did hundreds and hundreds of shows with Elvis across mainland United States and Hawai'. - Bruce Jackson
The book delivers an intimate, engaging narrative of Bruce's extraordinary life, up close with the world's top performer.
After Elvis died, Elvis-fan Bruce Springsteen hired Bruce Jackson, saying 'I've got Elvis' guy...Elvis' man is working for me in the house'.
Years of work have gone into making this book a fitting tribute. Bruce's first-person narrative and contributions by friends and colleagues plus the eye-witness perspective of his brother Gary come together for an extraordinary insight. This is, incredibly, a new look at Elvis by someone who
worked with him in a professional relationship that evolved into a personal friendship. Elvis came to respect Bruce Jackson as much as Bruce respected Elvis Presley.

'From Elvis In Nashville' New 4CD Set: RCA / Legacy Recordings is pleased to announce the forthcoming release of 'From Elvis In Nashville' a 4CD collection presenting the long-awaited definitive chronicle of Elvis Presley's mythic 1970 marathon sessions with the "Nashville Cats".
Recorded live in RCA's Studio B in Nashville over the course of an epic five day/night run in June 1970 (with an additional session on September 22), Elvis' performances from those sessions formed the core of three of his most successful studio album releases from the 1970s: 'Elvis: That's the Way It Is', 'Elvis Country' and 'Love Letters from Elvis'.
Now, for the first time, the master recordings from the 1970 Studio B sessions may be enjoyed together as a single official Elvis album. On From Elvis In Nashville, Presley's studio tracks from the 1970 marathon sessions are presented in pristine audio, newly mixed by acclaimed engineer Matt Ross-Spang without the added overdubs appearing on earlier releases.
From Elvis In Nashville will be available in a 4CD boxed edition including two bonus discs of rare and/or unreleased outtakes.

Get a mp3 taste of the Matt Ross-Spang remix of 'I Washed My Hands in Muddy Water' here.
Sounds pretty good to EIN, clean, good mix and not smothered in echo, plus unedited to the very end including Elvis' heartfelt, "whoaa shit, I kept my hands clean".... (With big thanks to Johnny on FECC

A highlights package will be available in a 2LP 12" vinyl pressing.

4 How The Web Was Woven Take 1 - 3:25

EIN notes the side runs less than 18 minutes
You Don't Have To Say You Love Me is the Undubbed Master, officially previously unreleased.
Stranger In The Crowd Take 5 is the rather short insubstantial version. (also on the FTD classic album) Odd to be featured on the first album side.

At the close of the 1960s, Elvis Presley, the atomic-powered singer of the 1950s, put his stamp on the rock revolution decade, reestablishing himself as a musical and cultural force to be reckoned with. His electrifying Elvis '68 Comeback special made television history and his long-awaited return to non-soundtrack recordings at Chip Moman's American Sound Studio in Memphis, January-February 1969 – yielded major chart hits including 'In The Ghetto', 'Don't Cry Daddy', 'Kentucky Rain' and 'Suspicious Minds' and well as a pair of acclaimed 1969 album releases, From Elvis In Memphis and 'Back In Memphis'.

From Elvis In Nashville serves as a mirror and companion to his earlier Memphis recordings, bringing fresh fire, exuberance, humor and emotional resonance to the Studio B sessions.
For his first recordings of the 1970s, Elvis revisited the blueprint that made his American Sound sessions so successful. Because he hated doing overdubs, he wanted to cut loose live in the studio with a band in sync with his sensibility. Freed from obligations to music publishers, Elvis was able to pick and record songs that were contemporary, relevant and meaningful to him, from covers – including his transcendent interpretation of 'Bridge Over Trouble Water' – to the epic material then powering his Las Vegas residencies and return to live performing.
If the American Sound recordings in Memphis opened the door for Elvis' return to the stage and top of the charts, his next recordings – the fabled 1970 Nashville Marathon Sessions – would lay the groundwork for another revolution in pop music. Under the direction of producer Felton Jarvis, Elvis joined forces with one of the most potent studio ensembles ever assembled to create an often underrated chapter in Presley's rich legacy. Working with the fabled "Nashville Cats" for his first album of 1970, Elvis Presley connected to a circle of contemporary musicians that included Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, George Harrison and others.
In June 1970, Elvis returned to RCA Studio B to create a new sound for a new decade. From 1958-1971, Elvis recorded more than 200 tracks at Studio B, beginning with five classic songs, including 'A Fool Such As I' before shipping off to Germany with the US Army. He recorded Elvis Is Back!, his first post-army album, at Studio B in March-April 1960 and many more throughout the sixties
For his 1970 Nashville sessions, Elvis was able to handpick his own repertoire and, delve into the rich variety of American music in his marrow, combining elements of bluegrass, honky tonk, Western swing and the rockabilly he'd virtually invented with contemporary pop, ballads and epic showstoppers. Bringing a fresh and vital new approach to pop and country music, Elvis' performances on From Elvis In Nashville presaged and encompassed emerging trends from countrypolitan and Americana to outlaw country.
These sessions are widely recognized as among Elvis' best because of the undeniable chemistry between Elvis and his astonishing studio band comprised of multi-instrumentalist Charlie McCoy (whose resume includes Bob Dylan's Highway 61 Revisited, Blonde On Blonde, plus work with Paul Simon, Tanya Tucker, Bob Seger, Willie Nelson), bassist Norbert Putnam (Roy Orbison, Linda Ronstadt, J. J. Cale, Tony Joe White, etc) and pianist David Briggs (Dean Martin, Joan Baez, B.B. King, Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, Tony Joe White, George Harrison, among others).
Known colloquially as the "Nashville Cats" this finely-honed studio ensemble, like Elvis himself, connected the worlds of pop, rock and country music. For the June sessions, Elvis brought in his longtime on-stage guitarist James Burton; Eddie Hinton (lead guitar on Elvis' September session). Elvis plays acoustic guitar throughout the June sessions.
The five-day "marathon" sessions yielded a wide variety of material including a spirited rendition of Willie Nelson's 'Funny How Time Slips Away', the heartrending 'I've Lost You' and the powerful 'Bridge Over Troubled Water'. A wild, single-take version of 'Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On' was one of the highlights of the September 22 single day session.
The music Elvis created in his 1970 "marathon sessions", presented here without layers of overdubbing heard on the original releases, stands among Presley's best and has proven immensely influential. It established musical directions he pursued the rest of his career, predicted his late-in-life pop- and-country radio successes, and modeled sounds for countless country stars to come.
From Elvis In Nashville provides an intimate glimpse into the world of Elvis and the way he made music that lasts forever.
No tracklisting has yet been announced. The release date appears to be November, 2020.
