The new product respects the previous one present Elvis moving toward the third and fourth tour of the year. Carrying the weight of his problems but still unbelievable concentrate in his music as a final product to delivery to his fans... through the tape, and maybe thanks to its limitation is possible to feel the incredible enthusiasm of the crowd ... For sure Elvis is still a legend.
In the Bloomington show, Although Elvis was not looking good and In spite, the lack of renewal, in the repertoire are still included some strong numbers to make the concerts of a very good quality. Surprisingly in some of the more demanding artistically songs, Elvis builds his show, He is still able to delivery in the right way, songs like You Gave a Mountain, America the Beautiful, Burning Love, Polk Salad Annie and last single Hurt. Without a doubt, this is the focus of the show and the audience appreciated that, making the concert atmosphere still incredible experience.... |
|
Moving to Providence we are instead in the middle of the fourth 1976 tour , the show is shorter respect to the previous one ( Elvis performed even an afternoon show on the same day), also the repertoire is very basic, some of the rockers like Burning Love and Polk Salad Annie have been dropped but the show remains surprisingly well performed in all the songs...and the participation of the public is incredible..Elvis is still a legend!!
The sound is very good for an ambient recordings, considering that this kind of recording is coming from a big hall no the intimate Las Vegas showroom... We have on our hands the original mono tapes of extremely good quality enabling us to carry out a simple re-mastering work, concentrating on the reduction of noise trying to achieve a more clear sound balancing the channel and put at the right speed the tape. The result a pretty dynamic tapes with a great definition of the background music and for sure you can live the atmosphere of a Elvis' concert in the seventy. - EIN says be sure to get AUDIO SAMPLES before purchasing.

The songs chosen were songs that Elvis was particularly fond of and it seemed quite fitting to have the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra once again accompanying him at this very special time of year. I’m positive he would be smiling if this opportunity came up in his lifetime and that this album would definitely be in the making.”
Songs from Christmas with Elvis will feature in his upcoming UK tour this November, which runs between November 23 - 30.
This holiday season also marks the 60th anniversary of "Elvis' Christmas Album" the perennial classic that's become the top-selling holiday album of all-time. |

'The King Strikes Back' 10CD Import set: The Audionics label has announced a new, comprehensive 10CD project, dedicated to Elvis’ legendary Las Vegas Summer ’74 season. It is called 'THE KING STRIKES BACK!' and for the first time ever, all rehearsal and live soundboard recordings are presented in best possible sound quality and in one box!
These recordings were released through the years by various bootleg labels and by the official collectors FTD label, too. Nevertheless, many of these original releases are hard to find nowadays, including several already deleted FTD CDs!
For some of these recordings we have used audio tapes (master cassettes) as a source, rather than existing CD releases. We have spent dozens of hours in studio, to restore and enhance them. As usual, every recording was treated individually and restored from scratch, using today's advanced technology to achieve the best possible sound quality for your optimal listening pleasure.
Each disc is placed in individually designed cardboard sleeve and there is a 16-page booklet, full of high quality August / September 1974 photos (including several rare ones) and reproductions of fan reviews, published in the hard-to-find Rex Martin “Elvis News Service Weekly” magazine, back in 1974. These reviews are special, because they were published shortly after the concerts and those memories are immediate and fresh. |
|
This is the first-ever Audionics comprehensive box. It’s a special set which deserves a place in any serious Elvis collection!

This recording was taken directly from a recently found new source, a 1st generation copy of an original audience-recorded mastertape, never before in circulation! September 2nd Dinner Show - this fascinating, previously unreleased concert was never before available in such excellent sound quality!
The penultimate show in Elvis' August/September '74 season was a memorable occasion, especially for British and European fans in attendance. Certain issues in Elvis' personal life influenced what took place on stage at that Labor Day performance.
The set list included several songs unique to this season: "It's Midnight", "Big Boss Man" and "If You Talk In Your Sleep", the latter with a karate demo midway. His song selection demonstrated his expertise in a great variety of musical genres: the sexy 'torch'

styling of "Fever"; the sing-a-long "The Wonder Of You"; the poignancy of "You Gave Me A Mountain"; and the feel-good "If You Love Me Let Me Know" and "Let Me Be There". Most of all, perhaps, Elvis touched first base musically with the stirring "How Great Thou Art".
In between songs, he related stories ranging from the amusing to serious topics - the circumstances surrounding his divorce and the overblown stories in the movie magazines. Along the way, Elvis' emotions ranged from undisguised anger (the drug stories) to tenderness - introducing Priscilla and their six-year old daughter Lisa Marie. Usually a private person, it was the presence of his ex-wife that prompted Elvis to speak about his divorce, while making it clear that he and Priscilla were still close.
The liner notes are written by an English fan, who was there. This new release will be presented in a beautiful 4-panel double digipak that includes rare photos taken in Las Vegas in August/September 1974. It’s a new STRAIGHT ARROW so you know what to expect! |

- 'Breakdown In Baltimore' - A new double CD dedicated to Elvis' May '77 tour "40 Years After Vol. 3". This recording was taken directly from a recently found original audience recorded mastertape, taped by Elvis fan Linda from Washington.
The Baltimore, May 29th, 1977 show was first released in 1994, on the poor sounding, incomplete CD ”SEND ME THE LIGHT… I NEED IT BAD!” In 2011, it was released again in better sound on the 2CD-set ”BALTIMORE NIGHTFALL”. Now STRAIGHT ARROW is coming with the ultimate release of this historic night. This concert was never before available in such good sound quality!
When The King made his last visit to Baltimore 40 years ago, no one knew he would be dead less than three months later. But many suspected that something was wrong.
The Elvis Presley who took to the stage at the Civic Center on May 29, 1977, was not the Elvis most of his fans knew. Presley was no longer the sexy, virile, electric presence that revolutionized both the recording industry and live performing in his heyday. Still, his voice and charisma were present. |
|
As usual, Elvis opened the show with “See See Rider,” kicking off a set that included many of the classics, including “That’s All Right”, “Are You Lonesome Tonight,” “Jailhouse Rock,” “Hound Dog,” a rare attempt at “The Wonder of You” and “It’s Now or Never.” It was reported that Elvis left the stage for 30 minutes, actually it was barely 20 minutes and after his return, Elvis performed knock-out versions of “Help Me”, “Hurt” and THE SONG of the evening: a fantastic version of “Unchained Melody”.
The liner notes are taken from recent article, published on Aug. 10th, 2017 in the Baltimore Sun. This new release will be presented in a beautiful 4-panel double digipak that includes rare photos taken in Baltimore. Another essential SA release, providing a fresh insight into what must have been a difficult night for Elvis. Despite obvious health issues, Elvis does his best to ‘deliver the goods’ to the fans, and especially the final part of the concert is both moving and heart-warming… He must have felt terrible, but still he pulled out all the stops to be Elvis Presley for his audience. A must, and a unique insight into the man’s will-power and love for his fans. |

- 'Rockin' And Lovin' In Las Vegas' - A single CD with the previously unreleased Las Vegas August 17, 1972 Dinner show. It was taken from a 1st generation copy of an original audience recorded cassette, made back in the 70s by English super-fan and collector Rex Martin. Once again the sound quality is great! Rex taped many shows and usually, his recordings were of very good sound quality. He also filmed portions of shows with 8mm camera. From his memories: “17th August Dinner and Midnight shows - I went in with a couple of UK friends. After also tipping the waiter $30 more, we got seated right down on the front tables next to the stage. I taped the shows from August 17th to the 22nd and even filmed parts of the concerts.”
The August 17th Dinner show was another great performance by Elvis. Elvis performs a solid and very entertaining shows. His vocals are outstanding. The liner notes are taken from recent Rex Martin August 1972 personal notes. This new release will be presented in a beautiful 3-panel digipak that includes rare photos taken in Las Vegas in August/September 1972. If you liked Straight Arrows previous 1972 releases - then brace yourself, because this is another keeper! |

'ELVIS Christmas' with the RPO' - Shane Brown Review: The new Christmas album supposedly brings together the legend’s yuletide performances from both his 1957 and 1971 Christmas Albums, re-imagined with new arrangements performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
Shane Brown, author of the new book 'Reconsider Baby' and Elvis music expert, has written a fascinating and thought-provoking review. He raises the issue that fans should be genuinely concerned what these "Re-Imagined" versions are doing to Elvis great musical legacy.
The REAL ISSUE could be that the desperation to earn a quick "Christmas" buck may lead to Elvis' musical legacy being diluted by overdubbed tacky M-O-R versions that have nothing to do with Elvis' original recordings.
He suggests, "All good things must come to an end. Thankfully, all bad things must come to an end, too – and the new Christmas release should prove to be the end of the road of the RPO albums with Elvis."

'Standing In The Rain' New Import CD: Out soon from the Ampex label ''Standing In The Rain'' AUDIENCE RECORDING live at the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, NY on June 24 1973 at 3 P.M
On this day, Elvis is performing his last show in a series of four sold-out concerts at this venue, much like he did just over a year earlier 32 miles away in Manhattan at Madison Square Garden.
The audience was primed beyond measure as Elvis had not performed in the New York-tri state area since the previous year.
The setlists at these shows were similar to the recently aired ''Aloha From Hawaii'' TV Special, with several variations, most notably a classic rock 'n roll medley, How Great Thou Art, and I'm Leavin'.
This show was previously released on the MxF title ''Uniondale Hysteria, Final Day'' from a much inferior and different tape.
We at Ampex found a brand new source, the sound of this recording replicates exactly what the fans in the audience heard that night.
It was recorded on high quality BASF tape, and has tremendous dynamic range.
It captures the sound of Elvis's show that evening in clear and brilliant sound... and we advise you to play this loud and proud, and you will feel like you are right there in attendance.
This release is mastered directly from the original first generation audience recorded cassette. The CD will also feature a 16 page booklet, including rare photos of Elvis in Uniondale, and liner notes! Ask your dealer for samples!
EIN contributor CiscoKing explains, "Skar mentions in his book "The Concert Years" : Elvis thanked the Uniondale audience "for having stood in line for days in the pouring rain to get tickets to his show". And that on this tour, "Elvis on tour still means Elvis in top form" and "his voice was at least as powerful as it had been at its best on earlier occasions". |

- 'PAST MASTERS - VOLUME 2'
Past Masters - Volume 2 is a collection of 25 tracks from Elvis’ catalogue. The majority of these tracks were not available on his original albums.
Past Masters consists of A- and B-sides from Elvis’ singles and Extended Play’s (EP’s), very hard to find Long Play (LP) album versions and some previously unreleased versions in great binaural sound. Also included are the full contents of the original ‘TV Guide Presents Elvis Presley’ record (released in September 1956) and the original USA ‘The Truth About Me’ promotional cardboard disc (original US edit as released in November 1956). Again a great collection of rarities! Just like the first volume of "Past Masters".

'SUPPOSE - THE HOME RECORDINGS - VOL.2'
A companion album to ELVIS - THE HOME RECORDINGS (released by RCA/BMG in 1999). This second album contains 22 tracks; all home recordings. Most of them were recorded at various locations in Los Angeles and Germany. Some were recorded in Memphis and a few in other places. Of these 22 tracks, 12 are officially previously unreleased and 2 tracks are very hard to find. For example: the stereo version of '500 Miles'. The version of 'Suppose' on this album was only available on the "Celluloid Rock" boxset from 1998. A great new compilation album with more of the best Elvis' homerecordings, with new edits and were possible, improved sound! A great addition to the '99 RCA/BMG album, in the same style, but now with recordings from the 50's, 60's and 70's... Even if you have all the bootlegs you'll certainly enjoy this great new compilation, and if you don't have all the bootlegs, you'll also find enough new material to enjoy! This collection shares a privilege enjoyed by few: at home with Elvis!

'Sensational Opening Night' New Import: Out soon from the E. P. Collector label is the Audience Recording - "A Sensational Opening Night" - From Japan With Love Vol. 4.
Recorded live from the audience in Las Vegas, August 4th, 1972, Opening show, this CD is subtitled "From Japan With Love Vol. 4" because it was recorded by a member of a Japanese fan club.
The Las Vegas, August 4th, 1972 Opening Night was first released in 2003 on the CD 'No Fooling Around' but those CDs were taken from a different, incomplete source tape. Our new recording is great sounding and, for the first time, 100% complete.
Elvis started his 7th season in Las Vegas with a fairly dynamic opening night. It was reported that Elvis was suffering from a headache, and he kept the opening show short with minimal in-between songs talk. He did not perform his usual showstopper 'Suspicious Minds', but he was on stage for 50 minutes, singing his heart out with a passion and energy not seen since August 1970. |
|
Compared to the previous Vegas season and the following tour in April, Elvis was in great physical shape, tanned, slim and full of energy. He was in a much better mental shape too, because his new girlfriend, model Linda Thompson accompanied him for the whole first week of this engagement. This concert is a good example of Elvis at his best, mixing rock’n’roll with ballads and blues, singing old and new songs, and looking great.
This concert is taken from a recently found first generation copy of original audience recorded cassette tape. You may ask your supplier for samples.
This CD is packaged in a nicely designed digipak with great collection of quality images taken in August 1972, including REAL Aug. 4th, Opening night photos!
If you have enjoyed our other August 1972 releases such as "Rock & Soul… And Some Mighty Fine Rock’n’Roll" and "Everybody Let’s Rock", then you are sure to enjoy our latest release.
EIN notes this was a great show, so let's hope the audio quality matches Elvis' performance. |

'Tahoe '73' New Import: Out soon from the Ragdoll label is an unreleased audience recorded show from Lake Tahoe titled "Tahoe '73". This show is the midnight show, May 9th, 1973.
This one is a good solid show.

'A Song For Sheila' New Import: Also from the E. P. Collector label is another Audience Recording, "A Song For Sheila".
Elvis Presley opened his 11th Las Vegas season on August 19th, and he performed a total of 27 shows, closing on September 2nd. Once again, Elvis revisited his live repertoire based on previous seasons and he included several tracks from the December ’73 recording sessions, and he also added songs like 'Softly As I Leave You' and 'If You Love Me (Let Me Know)'. Elvis' new love, the beautiful Sheila Ryan was present and Elvis sang the rarely performed „Early Morning Rain“ for her. He sings the complete song.
The Las Vegas, August 29th, 1974 Dinner show is previously unreleased except for 7 songs released from a soundboard source by the FTD label ('It’s Midnight' CD). This concert is taken from an early generation copy of an original audience recorded cassette tape. As usual, you may ask your supplier for samples.
This CD is packaged in a nicely designed digipak with a great collection of quality images taken in August 1974.
EIN notes that this was a fascinating summer season - however plenty of soundboards have been released by FTD & others.

'Elvis Spliced Takes – Still In Memphis' New Import: Fans know what to expect with this series, but this one will be top-notch, highlights include.. .
Way Down - Starts of with the band fooling around, Elvis joins the fun and it runs straight into the song!
Wearin' That Loved On Look - Over six (!!) splices make a very different version, with extra verses and piano solo.
I'm Movin' On - This splice includes ALL verses done by Elvis , and runs longer then other versions.
She Thinks I Still Care - One of THE highlights probably, Here Elvis start of with the slower version, James takes over and off they go into the faster version, this works very good, and maybe should have been released like this!
Good Time Charlie's Lost His Mind - The title was renamed for fun, and that's what we are getting here, a nice complete take with lots of fooling around.
Suspicious Minds - What's a "Memphis" release without this classic, because some rare parts are used, this one again sound very different to previous releases outtakes.
Do You Know Who I Am - Just listen to the "harmony" ending, very nice to hear two different sounding Elvis voices.

'Greensboro '77' New Import CD: Out soon is an unreleased audience recording from Greensboro, April 21, 1977 on the Ragdoll label.
This show is one of his better shows from 1977.
Comes with an eight page booklet with rare photos from the actual concert.
EIN Notes, the show has been our previously on CDR and while one of the better 1977 concerts the local Daily News review noted,
"No magician has gotten as much theatrical mileage out of a steady stream of multicolor scarves as did Elvis Presley.. the scarf maneuver was the most motion that Elvis put into his act during the evening.
Elvis was in fine voice - when he really tried to put his power behind the songs. His rendition of My Way, though he read from the sheet music, was filled with emotion and came across loud and clear, showing off that voice that has thrilled millions of record buyers for 20 years. Again in How Great Thou Art and in a few other serious songs, Presley's strong singing sounded as if he were pouring his whole being into it. The chills came; the magic was in the air.
|
|
During many other songs, though, there was no magic. The tremendous energy, humor, movement and emotion that characterized Presley's 1972, 1974 and 1975 appearances here just weren't on the stage much of the time, in general, Elvis moved very slowly, giving the impression that sudden or extreme motion would be painful." - 1977 was not a good year. |

'Everybody Let's Rock' New Import CD: 'Everybody Let's Rock - From Japan With Love Vol. 3' is the new CD from the E.P. Collector label. An audience recording Las Vegas, NV, August 5th, 1972, D/S and M/S, this 2CD-set is subtitled "From Japan With Love Vol. 3" because it was recorded by a member of a Japanese fan club.
The Las Vegas, August 5th, 1972 Dinner show was first released in 2008 on the CD "Directly From The 1972 Elvis Summer Festival". This earlier CD was taken from different, inferior source tape. Our new recording is of much better sound quality. The Las Vegas, August 5th, 1972 Midnight show is previously unreleased.
There is no need to discuss the fact that ALL shows from August / September 1972 are excellent! Natural highlights are especially ballads like "What Now My Love", ''An American Trilogy", "My Way" or "For The Good Times" and rock’n’rolls like „A Big Hunk O’Love” or "Johnny B. Goode" One song from Midnight show stands out: a cool, one-off of "Jailhouse Rock"! Needless to say that this is a rarity for 1972, and what a great version it is too - it easily beats all other 70's versions.
Both concerts are taken from a recently found first generation copies of original audience recorded cassette tapes. They were never before available in listenable sound, until now! You may ask your supplier for samples.
This CD is packaged in a nicely designed double digipak with great collection of quality images taken in August 1972. |

'Spliced Takes - Nashville Revisited' Import CD: Another clever STAR edited CD in this great series, this time even more edits / splices were done to make an exceptional album, where tracks sound so much different then what is out there, no fake overdubs , but some tracks have been overdubbed, using snippets from the actual "recording sessions"
Devil In Disguise for example does not fade out, but has a great new ending, including TWO guitar solos.
Gold In The Mountains has been overdubbed with a more fuller drumbeat on some parts, and has been extended.
Like A Baby "you do the intro" Elvis said during the session, but here, we have Elvis himself playing it, and on the end, the guitar has been included once more.
Dirty, Dirty Feeling sounds so much different since lots of parts from the session have been included, and it's Elvis who does the ending "Gone..." instead of Ray Walker.
Stranger In The Crowd , no complete outtake of this song exists, here we get an extended "rehearsal" version.. |
|
It Ain't No Big Thing is a very different version..
On the first "Nashville" most tracks were from the sixties. Here we get a good portion of seventies selections, and well as a fifties track... all recorded in Nashville.... |

'Elvis Sun 78rpm Vinyl' Special Release: With the 40th Anniversary of Elvis’ passing comes a really special limited edition release that we think will become a sure fire must have addition to any collectors want list.
Record players sold today are increasingly adding the 78RPM speed to the norm and these 5 magnificent Sun 10" (inch) replica singles play at 78RPM.
This is the first time since Elvis Sun replicas produced in the 1970’s, that have been made to play the original 78RPM speed. Since then some were only made at 45rpm.
Each of the five Sun replica 78s have the original etched numbers included with the appropriate song sides and are by far the most authentic original 10 inch Sun 78 Records yet produced. All the labels are perfect (as the original) in size, accuracy and color.
All the singles come in the same type sleeves as sold with the original releases. The sound quality is excellent with the original Sun sound recordings (including That’s All Right) and is pressed on heavy stock vinyl.
This is a strictly low limited number release and an extra low limited number release of a CRYSTAL-CLEAR version in a clear polybag. These are a first-time-ever high quality release for any Elvis Sun single replicas.
Track down your Elvis dealers if you need a copy.

'Drums Of The Islands' PHS Box-Set: Soon to be released is the bootleg 'Drums Of The Islands - Ultimate Paradise Hawaiian Style Recording Sessions' box-set. The publicity suggests "a sublime 3cd boxset with the most complete Paradise Hawaiian Style recording sessions, incl. many tracks unreleased by Elvis' official record company. This stunning box also includes the complete film versions and original mono album!
Plus a newly discovered demo recording of a song rejected by Elvis and the Colonel and written by Dolores Fuller. Unfortunately never recorded by the man himself.
Including a great full color booklet !
EIN is confused as why fans would want so many versions of 'Queenie Wahine’s Papaya' etc when Elvis so disliked the music that he sang most of them as vocal overdubs... (and fans want them in Mono as well - really!).
I guess it could be a guilty pleasure for some, but truly hard to justify...

'A Boy From Tupelo: The Complete 1953-1955 Recordings' 2017 Release Tracklisting: SONY have now officially announced the release of 'A Boy From Tupelo: The Complete 1953-1955 Recordings" for the 40th Anniversary celebration - Out Friday, July 28.
Distilled from the fabulous FTD deluxe release 'A Boy From Tupelo' 530 page book / CD combo (see EIN indepth review here) this mainstream release - 'A Boy From Tupelo: The Complete 1953-1955 Recordings' includes - for the first time ever officially - on 3 CDs every surviving Elvis Presley Sun master and outtake, plus two private records Elvis paid with his own money to record, as well as all known radio - and concert performances from the period. Many of these recordings are rare demos, session takes, and live performances including a newly discovered and previously officially unreleased recording of "I Forgot to Remember to Forget" from a 1955 Louisiana Hayride performance.
On this "MSM" release the Mae Boren Axton interview with Elvis has been removed (from the original FTD tracklistin) with the new 'I Forgot to Remember to Forget' now added as the final track on CD 3. Go here to for the new tracklistings.. |

The accompanying 120-page book compiled by Elvis authority Ernst Mikael Jørgensen and is, in essence, a fully-illustrated travelogue. It details the birth of Elvis' career through facts, anecdotes, documentation, many rare photos, and a succinct narrative. Independence Day 1954 is when this uniquely American saga begins, less than 24 hours before his first professional recording session, and it ends in December 1955, when the rights to Elvis' Sun tapes officially expire and the singer leaves Sam Phillips and Sun Records to record for RCA Victor.
This is the story of Elvis Presley before he becomes world-famous, and how this amazing young man readies himself for stardom, achieving success on a level that no one could have dreamed possible.

'All-American Boy' New PD Release: Nothing that isn't available elsewhere, but an interesting compilation from the Elvis One label and with a stunning cover photo.
... 'All-American Boy' represents Elvis Presley from the early years, with recordings from 1953 to 1960, including alternate takes and original masters complete with studio banter. Also included are 3 different versions from the song "That's When Your Heartaches Begin" from 1953, 1956 and 1957.
This album also contains great to hear and rare Elvis tribute songs and recordings from "break-in" records from the fifties and sixties. 'ELVIS: Las Vegas ‘74' FTD Review: A double set featuring both Dinner and Midnight shows from August 20, 1974 from Elvis' legendary 1974 Summer Season at the Las Vegas Hilton.
For Elvis 1974 was an emotionally turbulent year. This was his sixth season singing to the Las Vegas casino audiences, still doing two shows a night, and he was really feeling the loss of Priscilla. Yet this inner turmoil helped produce the most fascinating Las Vegas season of his career. He gave some of his longest performances and with a varied set-list including great new songs It’s Midnight, Promised Land, If You Talk In Your Sleep and Help Me.
One of the fascinations of this new double-pack is that it presents Elvis' second and third concerts by which time Elvis was back once again to the old regular set-list routine. Whatever the reason for Elvis' backwards step, fans can consider whether these concerts capture Elvis' happiness at being back pleasing his audience with the regular set-list.
Go here as super-collector Geoffrey McDonnell & EIN's Piers Beagley provide an in-depth review of this new release.

'A Boy From Tupelo: The Complete 1953-1955 Recordings' New 40th Anniv SONY Release: As EIN reported last Sunday, SONY have now officially announced the release of 'A Boy From Tupelo: The Complete 1953-1955 Recordings" for the 40th Anniversary celebration in one comprehensive package. Out Friday, July 28.
|
Essential to the understanding and appreciation of Elvis and his explosive impact on pop music and culture, this presents - in the best possible sound- every known Presley recording from his early career, when the world's first atomic singer fused blues, pop and hillbilly country swing to create an electrifying new music that changed the world.

'Hot Summer in 1973' Import CD: Out soon from the "SR" label is 'Hot Summer in 1973' featuring the audience recorded unreleased show from Las Vegas August 19, 1973 DS.
This recording is a first generation of original audience recorded tape. The afternoon show is previously unreleased show.
August 1973, Elvis Is back for his last summer season..The 1973 was begun in the better way, with the Aloha special at least commercial talking… But the things turned immediately toward the wrong direction..the man had too weight to bear in his human shoulders... But as always for Elvis the music keeps his mind alive and overall active..so the best moments of our man is when He is on the stage..The August 1973 is no exception..
The August 19 present Elvis in positive mood , the show is solid and well performed...Elvis deliveries some killer version of My Boy and You Gave Me a Mountain, keeping steady part of the show the two classic Suspicious Minds and An American Trilogy and delighting the audience with the with the two early rocker Mystery Train/Tiger Man & Trouble.
Talking about the show , the show is solid and well performed no too long in accord with the classic Las Vegas show, we have 46 minutes only, but Elvis worked hard performing 19 songs, classic representation of his best repertoire of Vegas.. Talking of highlight of the show, we can say is hard however is undeniable that Elvis’ soul lives now in the power ballad like You Gave a Mountain or My Boy, surely they are the best moment of the show…...
This recording come from an early generation copy of the master tape, the sound quality is very good. The sound was restored in matter to remove the background noise and preserving Elvis’ voice and trying to achieve best possible results.
This new CD will come with the classic deluxe Digipack four panels (12x12 cm), containing a collection of live photographs from the actual Season . Limited edition 400 copies.
EIN says buyers beware - check audio samples first.

'On Fire In Florida' New Import: Straight Arrow is pleased to bring you a new 2CD audience recording dedicated to Elvis' February ’77 tour. The Hollywood, February 12th, 1977 show was first released in 1994, 23 years have passed since then and now is the right time for a proper re-release. Straight Arrow went back to the original cassette and restored it from scratch. The West Palm Beach, February 13th, 1977 show was previously released from an incomplete soundboard source.
Our COMPLETE recording has been taken directly from a previously unreleased original audience-recorded mastertape. Both shows were recorded by the same person.
In spite of Elvis’ unhealthy look especially at the beginning of tour, his concerts were solid and playlists were variable, incl. some rarely performed songs, actually, it was best tour of 1977.
As usual, this new release will be presented in a beautiful 4-panel double digipak that includes photos taken in Hollywood and West Palm Beach and newspaper reviews of both concerts.
As usual - it’s new STRAIGHT ARROW so you know what to expect!
EIN is somewhat surprised that an Elvis 1977 concert can be described as "On fire", surely that would be 1955 in Florida! |

'Elvis In Concert – No Comments' CD: “If You Haven’t guessed by now... it’s been 40 years!” CMT is back with an outstanding release! It’s been 40 years since RCA released “Elvis in Concert” , still a favorite after all these years, not only for historic reasons, cause although not in good health Elvis voice was still incredible! The producers have done a new approach on these recordings, and decided to make a more enjoyable version by cutting out all the fans comments, and edit the performances to one live concert, using 24Bit 96KHZ audio for the best possible sound. Most edits sound better then the original ones ... Including all songs from the original double album, plus five rare MULTI track bonus recordings, including a rocking “Mystery Train/Tiger Man” bringing the total to 33 tracks! (EIN notes, Can this 1977 concert really be called "Outstanding"?!)
Presented in six panel digipack, with artwork matching the original release, including beautiful rare pictures. There still are lots and lots of new releases.... some should be avoided. CMT always has something special, so you are really buying new material, not available elsewhere! “So just enjoy yourself, and leave the driving to us!” LIMITED to 500 copies this release will be sold out soon! |

'Elvis: Hilton Showroom vol. 7' New Import: The AudiRec label proudly presents 'Elvis: Hilton Showroom vol. 7'' out end of May. Volume 7 of their AudiRec “Las Vegas Series” which concentrates on Elvis´ concerts in Sin City, features the Dinner Show from February 17, 1972 and it is the first time that this audience recording is available on a “real” cd. Since there aren´t too many “listenable” recordings from this Las Vegas season made by fans who were there in the audience, bringing their own, non-professional recording equipment, it is more than likely good to have another one that is pretty good in sound!
In his 6th Hilton appearance Elvis received quite some rave reviews, especially in comparison to some critics and fans comments which did not sound too enthusiastic when talking about the “King´s” August 71 engagement in Las Vegas. Elvis did a total of 57 shows, starting on January 26 and ending on February 23. RCA was there to do some live recording and because of that Elvis changed his setlist significantly to the benefit of some “big” and “dramatic” ballads.
“Variety” told his readers on February 9, 1972 about Elvis in Vegas: “This time out is the best one yet for Presley. His format is taut, he pays attention to his songs and audience, the karate exercises are quite vigorous and his ringside kissing technique is like a dozen midway attractions rolled into one. He has almost ceased the pelvic sex symbolism, retaining a wee bit of the guitar’s phallic thrust near the top of his vocalistics … Wearing a white cape, orange scarf and white jumpsuit studded with brass buttons and open nearly to his mid-section, he comes on ready and belting strong. Par for his course is about 20 tunes, big, bigger, biggest, either in his own or the general pop catalog. If he keeps up his opening pace there will be no need for repeat of grumbles, heard at the close of his August 1971 month, that Presley was sliding by, generally goofing off and otherwise acting bored with the whole thing.”
Please be aware that this new release is limited to 300 copies only!

'ELVIS In Atlanta' New FTD: 'ELVIS In Atlanta' contains two legendary 1975 shows from the Omni Coliseum on April 30th and May 1, 1975 retrospectively.
This soundboard release is a 5" 2-CD digipack.
The digipak features great photos taken by Keith Alverson.
The CDs are mastered by Jan Eliasson
EIN notes that three Atlanta tracks were released by FTD on one of our favourite's "Southern Nights". Hopefully the thin-ish sound on that released has been improved by Jan Eliasson.
EIN's friend Ciscoking comments, "Elvis and Atlanta always was something very special.... Elvis loved Atlanta... Atlanta loved Elvis... he once called it "my second home".. and he always delivered great shows there. The Southern crowd went nuts as soon as he moved his little finger and our man got standing ovations for 'How Great Thou Art' or 'American Trilogy'. Being there must have been a fantastic experience - the King at his best. This will be a most welcome addition for FTD collectors."
The opening numbers of '2001 Theme', 'See See Rider' and 'I Got A Woman / Amen' were not recorded at either shows.
Ex soundboard recordings, FTD notes there are several flaws on the original source tapes.

'Spliced Takes - Blue Moon' New Import CD: The series continues, by popular demand with a “fifties” album! Again the STAR team has done all the edits on this album with lots of excellent surprises. Unlike other “import” labels, they truly were able to produce an album using many incomplete takes, to create beautiful new tracks. Their professional edits will blow you away, and will make you believe these are unreleased takes. Get ready to Shake, Rattle and Roll with this fantastic release, some highlights include:
THAT’S ALL RIGHT: Spliced from 2 outtakes, with added echo to re-create the master version.
SHAKE RATTLE AND ROLL: Includes ALL verses done by our man, 3 different solos, piano, guitar and drums will blow you away!
LET ME; The “master” of this song was also a splice created from take 3 and 4… here they used the same takes, only the opposite parts, so this is the first COMPLETE new outtake of this movie song.
MONEY HONEY: Only a shore part of take 10 was found, used here to make a nice new track, spliced with the master takes.
|
|
BABY, I DON’T CARE: Great version, with spliced takes, and new mix to make it and outstanding new outtake.
BLUEBERRY HILL: FIVE takes used here to make a very fresh new version.
Elvis fans have been spoiled over the years, and they all know.. “the end is near” almost every complete take available has been released, so this is as close as you can get for a “New” album!

Two New FTDs OUT NOW: FTD new releases planned for April 2017 are at your local dealers now.
- 'ELVIS: Las Vegas ‘74': A double set featuring two concerts from Elvis' legendary August 1974 Summer Season at the Las Vegas Hilton comes as a 5” 2-CD digipack
The release features both Dinner and Midnight shows from August 20, 1974. (Although previously released audience recordings from these supposed shows do not match FTD's set-lists)
For Elvis 1974 was an emotionally turbulent year. This was his sixth season singing to the Las Vegas casino audiences, still doing two shows a night, and he was really feeling the loss of Priscilla. The dinner shows were beginning to bore him (people rattling cutlery) and who could blame him? Yet this inner turmoil helped produce the most fascinating Las Vegas season of his career. He gave some of his longest performances and with a varied set-list including great new songs It’s Midnight, Promised Land, If You Talk In Your Sleep and Help Me.
It has been mastered by Jan Eliasson.

- 'Elvis: His Songs of Praise Vol.2': Trevor Simpson's first book about Elvis' sacred, spiritual and gospel songs came out last september and now the long-anticipated sequel is in the shops. The second volume titled "Elvis: His Songs of Praise Vol.2" features 350 pages about the final half of the chosen Elvis sacred songs - 100 in all.
It promises over 350 pages with lavishly illustrated high-quality images, many unseen photographs and graphics. Every song has been thoroughly researched in a similar manner to Trevor Simpson’s previous trilogy "Elvis: The Best of British”.
In early interviews, Elvis divulged that spiritual music was his first love and he publicly continued to reaffirm. Despite being acclaimed as the ‘King of Rock ‘n’ Roll’, he was only presented with three Grammy awards and they were for his spiritual music and the stories of these iconic songs are much, much more contained within this book.

'A Brand New Cadillac, Honey!' New Import: Straight Arrow is pleased to bring you a new double CD dedicated to Elvis' April ’76 tour. It was short but very good tour, with Tony Brown and Ronnie Tutt replacing Shane Kiester on piano and Larrie Londin on drums.
The Long Beach, April 25th, 1976 afternoon show is previously unreleased. The Seattle, April 26th, 1976 show was first released by Millbranch Music in 2010 from a rather bad, flat sounding tape source.
Straight Arrow was fortunate enough to obtain recently recovered 1st generation copies of the original audience-recorded cassettes, which were not in circulation previously. Both shows were recorded by the same person. These enjoyable concerts were never before available in good sound quality… until now! Ask your dealer for sound samples.
As usual, this new release will be presented in a beautiful 4-panel digipak that includes photos taken in Long Beach (2:30 pm) and Seattle and newspaper reviews of both concerts. Again - it’s new STRAIGHT ARROW so you know what to expect! |

'Got Me Workin' Boss Man - 40 Years After Vol. 1' New Import: Yet another Straight Arrow release, this time dedicated to Elvis' May ’77 tour. The Macon, June 1st, 1977 show is previously unreleased. This recording was taken directly from a recently found 1st generation copy of an audience-recorded mastertape. This historic concert was never before available in decent sound quality… until now! Ask your dealer for sound samples. Compared with an average show in Baton Rouge, May 31st, Macon concert is surprisingly good. 'Fairytale', 'My Way' and 'And I Love You So' are performed really well but one highlight stands out, rocking performance of 'Big Boss Man' at the end of show. As usual, this new release will be presented in a beautiful 3-panel digipak that includes photos taken in Macon and a newspaper review. If you liked our other May 1977 release “Too Late For Goodbyes” (SA/SP 2016-42-02), we'll bet that you will also love this one. |

'Platinum: A Life In Music' Re-Release: Sony UK is re-releasing the classic 4-Cd set 'Platinum: A Life In Music' on March 24, 2017 - in a small-book format twenty after its first release in 1997.
The set chronicles the outstanding career of Elvis Presley (1954 to 1977) from a unique perspective and it includes 100 performances, 77 of which were previously unreleased in 1997. This historic overview traces his development as an artist and emphasizes how Elvis' music always returned to its unshakable core values. This 4-CD box set contains a 48-page book and consists mostly of previously unreleased alternate takes of Elvis Presley's hits.
There is no info on whether this 20th anniversary release includes audio upgrades of all the "77 were previously unreleased takes" which have since been remastered.
The publicity notes, "You probably think you've heard all there is to hear from The King, what with countless Elvis retrospectives, anthologies, and reissues flooding the market. While PLATINUM is far from the first Elvis boxset, it's unique in that it's composed largely of previously unreleased material. Four discs cover every phase of Presley's career, from young Memphis hip-shaker to the Las Vegas era, adding a fresh perspective to each period.
It's both an education and a kick to hear alternate versions of songs as ingrained in the public consciousness as 'That's All Right', and others from Elvis' legendary Sun sessions."
This title will be released on March 24, 2017.

This will be the first of three volumes that SR will publish inside the year with focus on August 1971. ‘ELVIS: The Complete Works 1953 – 1955’ Review: MRS newest release, a 2CD/100page book compilation ‘MRS: The Complete Works 1953 – 1955’. The 100-page book chronicles Elvis’ short recording career there, from its humble beginnings (his personal acetate recordings from 1953) through to the final Sun sessions in 1955. The full and comprehensive text is complemented by rare photographs and unseen pieces of documentation.
The 2CDs contain the complete archival studio recordings from 1953-1955, Elvis’ personal acetates, the Sun masters, along with rare session outtakes. The tracks have been painstakingly remastered and restored. The set includes for the first time ‘That’s All Right’ taken from the ‘Mother’ master of the original Sun 45rpm.
But how does it differ from previous volumes about the same topic and is the audio any better?

'Wild In Wichita!' New import: Out soon from the E.P. Collector label is "Wild In Wichita!" (EPC 2017-10), Audience Recording from Wichita, Kansas, on December 27th, 1976.
This is a previously unreleased show, taken from a recently found first generation copy of an original audience recorded master cassette tape. This show was recorded by an American woman and her recording was never in circulation. Until now, the Wichita show was never available in an acceptable sound. The EPE label looked for a better tape and succeeded! Although still not great quality, it is a very listenable recording of this wonderful December '76 tour-opening show!
To prevent possible speculations: many years ago, the official FTD label reportedly planned a possible soundboard release of the Wichita '76 show. Unfortunately, this info was based on a mislabeled tape in the FTD vaults. There are no indications that a soundboard recording of this show exists.
Just as all other December '76 tour shows, this concert is excellent! Elvis appeared on stage with the same joy and energy as in Pittsburgh on New Year's Eve. Highlights are "Fairytale", "And I Love You So", a full version of "Early Mornin' Rain", an unbeatable performance of "How Great Thou Art", and "Hurt". One unique performance stands out. It was the very first time that Elvis performed "Unchained Melody", accompanying himself on piano. This premier performance is tentative in parts but that's part of the magic. A great Presley moment!
The digipak features a 16-page booklet, filled with a.o. a local newspaper concert review, and special memories by the American fan who taped the show. We are happy that she was willing to share her unique, never before published snapshots, too! All images used are taken in Wichita, KS, December 27, 1976.

'Spliced takes - Hollywood Revisited' New Import: CMT is proud to present their latest release, again the STAR team has done all the production on this album with lots of excellent edits, and surprises. Unlike other “import” labels, they truly were able to produce an album using many incomplete takes, to create beautiful new tracks. Their professional edits will blow you away, and will make you believe these are unreleased takes.
We're back in Hollywood for some incredible new splices! We start off with a "too fast" version of "Flaming Star", just for fun the "End Title" at the end of the cd also has been done in a "too fast" edit, but it sounds pretty good!
One of THE highlights is probably "Adam and Evil" which has a totally new "jungle beat" opening, no new instruments were used, butt purely rough studio snippets to complete an amazing new take out of 5 takes, with new fade out ending! "G.I. Blues" was re-made out of lots of takes, and sounds very new to your ears! And what to think of the "break up" version of "Yoga is As Yoga Does" , lots of funny segments are included in this complete new track. "Moonlight Swim" has the instrumental break on the end, which also sounds very refreshing! "It Won't Be Long" has a longer "bluesy" intro, and was extended for listening pleasure.
Elvis fans have been spoiled over the years, and they all know.. “the end is near” almost every complete take available has been released, so this is as close as you can get for a “New” album!
The set comes in a “Deluxe Digipack” with beautiful artwork, and is strictly limited to 500 copies! Pre-order your set now, this will be sold out soon! |

Two New FTD releases: Just announced the first two new FTD releases for 2017.
- 'A Date With Elvis' - Classic Album. 'A Date With Elvis' was released in July 1959 and was the second of three compilation albums released by RCA while Elvis was serving in the U.S. Army. This 7” digipack 2-CD set also features stereo masters and ‘fly-on-the-wall’ persona; recordings made during his Army time in Germany. It also includes the 'Is It So Strange' Binaural session.

'Sahara Tahoe' New Import: AudiRec proudly presents 'Sahara Tahoe' - probably last “listenable” Lake Tahoe “Summer of 1971” audience recording. Recorded with non-professional equipment by a female fan in the audience - on July 31st, 1971 at the Dinner Show - it is the first time that this concert is available on a “real” cd.
Elvis stint at Lake Tahoe´s “Sahara Tahoe” Hotel in the summer of 1971 isn't well documented. What seems to be pretty clear from our research is that Elvis had a really good time at this first engagement at the (compared to Las Vegas) smaller venue. Rex Martin´s weekly publication for the worldwide Elvis fan base delivered first hand information from fans who were at the shows at the “Sahara Tahoe”. So for instance fans were able to read astounding facts like this in Issue´s number 24 and 25: “Elvis sang Happy Birthday to a 12-year old girl and gave her a 4-LP set! He was giving away those gift sets from the stage now and then….” and “On the closing night there was a line of people the length of the hotel just waiting for news of CANCELLATIONS! The showroom only holds 1200 but they squeezed 2000 in that night. They had 3 lines going in. One for Sahara people (persons staying in the hotel), one for people with reservations for the show, and one for people who didn´t have them.”
It is also interesting to learn from those magazines that beside from the “usual” set-list these additional songs have been heard by fans at at least one of the other shows: Treat Me Nice / Old Shep / Sweet Caroline / It´s Impossible / I Was The One / It´s Over / Hawaiian Wedding Song / My Babe / Help Me Make It Through The Night. Issue number 24 tells us also: “He always opened with That´s All Right Mama but changed the order of most of the rest” and “Elvis wore many white jumpsuits, plus a black and red outfit. Red jacket with black trim, black slacks, red shirt, black Onyx ring” and also “He split his pants once and was so embarrassed!”.
Please be aware that this new release is limited to 300 copies only! Check dealer sound samples before buying.

'A Vegas Fling With The King' CD Review: Elvis' 1973 February Las Vegas season has a reputation for being a rather lackluster come-down after the truly stunning success of the Aloha shows just two weeks beforehand.
There is no doubt that Elvis should have had a welcome relax and a break after performing such a record breaking world-wide event. Instead, Col Parker shoved him straight back into the old-routine of playing to the all-too-familiar casino-crowd. Elvis had a right to be uninspired.
However recent releases such as Straight Arrow's audience-recorded double-pack of Elvis' concerts from February 12th 1973 capture him in better than expected form...
In fact Elvis was on great form this night riding high from his recent ALOHA concerts. The Dinner Show is very worthy with more bass apparent than the late show and the TCB band is HOT!

'The Essential Undubbed Masters 1969-1976' Import box-set: This brand new deluxe 8 CD import set of 146 tracks is out now.
Recording sessions can be time-consuming. The process of recording a song or album is often very interesting.
Small corrections could be made but especially erasing something from the tape was a problem. Later on with the introduction of multi track recording equipment it became much easier to alter the recordings. Channels could be erased or added and levels could be adjusted for each separate channel.
Often a track that ends up on an LP or 45 contains overdubs that were made at a later stage and added to the master take.
Also most of The Elvis masters contain such overdubs.
This set contains the master takes as they were made in the studio, without those overdubs.
It’s as close as it gets to the pure sound of Elvis.
Sit back and enjoy! - Priced at around US$100 if you can find it.
EIN notes that a very large amount of this release has already come out officially on FTD.
EIN has also asked FTD to confirm whether they have any future "Undubbed Masters" releases planned.

'Let Me.. Sing Again' New Import: Out soon MxF label's second special product called "Let Me.. Sing Again featuring Elvis' Dinner and Midnight show from August 25th, 1973.
These AUDIENCE recordings are taken directly from a first generation of original tapes.
The afternoon show is previously unreleased, the evening show previously released here is presented in a very improved audio-quality.
August 1973, Elvis Is back for his last summer season..The 1973 was begun in the better way, with the Aloha special at least commercial talking. But the things turned immediately toward the wrong direction..the man had too weight to bear in his human shoulders... But as always for Elvis the music keeps his mind alive and overall active..so the best moments of our man is when He is on the stage..
The August 25 present Elvis in positive mood , both the shows are solid and well performed...Elvis deliveries some killer version of My Boy and You Gave Me a Mountain, keeping steady part of the show the two classic Suspicious Minds and Bridge Over Troubled Water and delighting the audience with the sensitive The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face and rocker&blues latest single Steamroller Blues.
The sound is very good for an ambient recording, We have on our hands the original mono tape of extremely good quality enabling us to carry out a simple re-mastering work, concentrating on the reduction of noise trying to achieve a more clear sound balancing the channel and put at the right speed the tape. The result a pretty dynamic tape with a great definition of the background music and for sure you can live the atmosphere of a Elvis' concert in the seventy.
Ask your dealer for sound samples.
This is the second very special Product for this label, this new double set will be housed in a deluxe 7"( 20x20 cm ) size DIGIPACK, containing a bonus card with a collection of live photographs newspapers clips and memorabilia plus a high quality glossy 135 gram paper poster of 60x20 cm size. |

'A Vegas Fling With The King' New Import CD: Out soon is the 9th volume of Straight Arrow's "From The Booth Tapes" series. It's 2CD entitled "A Vegas Fling With The King" featuring Elvis' Dinner and Midnight show from February 12th, 1973. These recordings are taken directly from original 'booth recorded' mastertapes.
These concerts showcase Elvis in excellent form! Famous actor Jack Lord and his wife Marie were present for both shows. Elvis called out Jack's name, and Jack stood up. The applause was tremendous. Elvis grinned and said, 'Sit down, Jack, you're getting more applause than I am'.
Both shows are previously unreleased and 100% complete. The February 12, 1973 D/S is a completely new show, even for die-hard Elvis fans. It has never been in circulation - in any form. The February 12, 1973 M/S was in circulation in the form of amateur CDRs in very bad sound. It has nothing to do with the top-notch booth quality tape presented here by Straight Arrow. Ask your dealer for sound samples.
As usual, this new release will be presented in a beautiful 4-panel digipak that includes Jack Lord's special memory of Elvis and rare photos taken on- and off-stage during Elvis' 1973 Las Vegas Winter season.
If you liked our previous Las Vegas 1973 releases like "One For The Ladies" (SA/SP 2016-41-02) or "Doin' The Best I Can" (SA/SP 2015-29-02), we'll bet that you will also love this one! |

'The Wonder Of You' Elvis with the RPO - In-depth CD Review: It is forty years since Elvis Presley entered a recording studio and he seems very reluctant to record anything new. So in terms of releasing a "new" album of Elvis material the topic has always been a tricky one. After the massive 2015 success of "Elvis with The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra" and ‘If I Can Dream’ the follow-up was inevitable and 'The Wonder Of You' recently achieved Number One in the UK album charts.
But can a follow-up really be as impressive - and do the true Elvis fans have to approve of these on-going fake "Revisions"?
Click here as EIN's Piers Beagley and Bryan Gruszka are back again to cause "Double-trouble" and supply a very detailed review, discovering what's good and bad...
And HAVE YOUR SAY - what do you think of the new album? Are we wrong in our opinions?
