'Elvis: City of Angels' New Import Book/CD: In January 2015, Audionics will release something special. Called 'Elvis: City of Angels' (Audionics 2015-01-2), this release consists of a 120-page hardback book & two CDs, featuring both shows which Elvis performed on May 11th, 1974 at The Forum (Inglewood) in Los Angeles, CA. Audionics is aware that these shows were released before (by the Graceland Records label, 2007 and official Sony/FTD label, 2007 - see EIN Review here-). To bring out the ultimate sound quality, Audionics worked with direct transfers of the original mastertapes.
Compared with its previous release, the evening show is vastly superior in sound. It was not taken from the same compact cassette source you have heard on the FTD soundboard release 'Live In L. A.',
but comes from an original reel-to-reel soundboard tape transfer! The sound difference is like night & day. The afternoon show has much improved sound too, coming from the original audience recorded mastertape. The sound (although not excellent) is clearer than before and most of disturbing distortion is gone.
In recent years, some younger fans claimed that Elvis' performances in LA were mediocre. Nevertheless, fans who were present always mentioned these were "kick-ass performances". It's worth mentioning that these shows were attended by a few members of the hard-rock band 'Led Zeppelin' as well as by Bill Wyman, the Rolling Stones bass player.
The 120-page book is filled with many brand new photos of great quality (both b/w and colour) and what’s most important, more than 120 images have never before been published anywhere! The accompanying text was written by an infamous author. This special audiovisual set will mark the ultimate release of Elvis Presley's live appearances at the Los Angeles in May ’74. Every second was digitally restored to achieve the best possible result. This is the first-ever Audionics real audio-visual presentation. It’s a special set which deserves a place in any serious Elvis collection!
EIN Notes that "deluxe" books seem to be the new way of luring in the punters to re-purchase previously released concerts.

'Elvis In Florida April 1975' FTD In-Depth Review: Mid 1975 found Elvis back in good form and having fun on stage. Officially we have so far heard almost nothing from the first part of Elvis' Tour#13 from April 24 - May 7.  This FTD features material from Elvis' Lakeland concerts on April 27th & 28th as well as Jacksonville April 25 1975.
The St. Petersburg Times commented … "But Elvis' forte is still the rockin' stuff, and he shows he hasn't lost what it takes. His Burning Love puts shame even to his own record version. When he launches into a slow, torchy Heartbreak Hotel, the inflections are vintage 1956"

FTD decided that this interesting selection deserved a release in the larger 7' format.

Go here as Elvis soundboard super-collector Geoffrey McDonnell checks out this previously unreleased concert and these unexplored April '75 concerts ....

'Meet Me… At Sahara Tahoe!' New Import CD: Coming out before holiday season is the final Straight Arrow's single-digipack release of 2014 - "Meet Me… At Del Webb’s Sahara Tahoe!", featuring May 26th, 1974 Midnight show.
While Elvis was alive, many fans dreamt of a chance to meet the man. The best chance that people had to meet him was at the Sahara in Lake Tahoe, where the intimacy of the showroom gave Elvis the possibility to interact with his fans ‘upclose and personal’. Those that were lucky enough to witness the star during one of his shows there in May ’74, witnessed a charismatic performer in full control of his art and his audience. Originally, the May 26th Midnight was supposed to be closing show of the season, but due to the huge demand, special 3am show on May 27th was added. The show on this release is a real audience pleaser, as he flirts with the girls on the frontrow and sings all the 1974 show favorites with verve. This is a rather good audience recording that gives you a frontrow perspective of this delightful performance. Ask your local dealer for samples!
The May 26th, 1974 M/S is a completely new concert even for die-hard Elvis fans. It has never been in circulation - in any form. The so called „May 26th, 1974 M/S“ audience recording available on tape/CDR is wrongly dated! "Meet Me… At Del Webb’s Sahara Tahoe!" is taken from a first generation copy of an original audience recorded cassette, obtained from a collector in the US and the date was verified through several very credible sources. Every second was digitally restored to achieve optimal listening pleasure.
Straight Arrow is taking the opportunity to thank Elvis Presley fans all over the World for their loyalty and continual support. We are doing the best to deliver you interesting collectors releases in good sound and eye catching packaging. We are always looking for previously unknown concert recordings or superior sounding versions, compared to what is available on tapes/CDRs/old CDs. The year 2015 is a special anniversary for us - it marks 10 years since our initial CD release titled 'Pieces Of My Life'. We promise you several surprising releases for 2015 – so stay tuned! The Straight Arrow team would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and prosperous, Happy New Year!
Sahara Tahoe Hotel, Lake Tahoe, NV, Sunday, May 26th 1974 Midnight show

'Still Crazy After All These Years!' New Import CD: The touchdown label has chosen the Asheville July 22nd 1975 show for their next release. Many fans know, that the tour with which Elvis stopped for 3 days also in Asheville just made the best tours Elvis in his career. It is also the tour where he for the last time gave still really energetic shows, then he never again approached completely these great concerts. The Asheville shows fascinate by some rare songs and were always to the favored shows among the fans. The show from July 22, 1975 had not appeared up to now on Silver Disc and has been preserved up to now like also the other concerts of this tour, unfortunately, only than Audience Recording. Rare songs are outstanding in this show like "Memphis Tennessee", or "Shake A Hand", both completely, and the only known live version from "Why Me Lord" with which Elvis also takes over the part of J.D. Sumner and joins in the singing not as usual only the refrain. The whole show is stamped by a fantastic set list. Fans who collect Audience Recordings will be inspired.

'Magnetic As Ever' New Import CD: Out soon from the MxF label the second volume of “Wild Tiger in Concert'' entitled 'Magnetic As Ever'  featuring the Spokane, April 28, 1973 8.00 PM Show.
The April Tour represent the first tour of the year, Elvis on tour means Elvis at the top of his possibilities. The year 1973 began with the glorious Hawaii TV satellite Show and after a pale useless Vegas season, Elvis recuperated from the fatigue, started the first tour of the year in a different mood … very energetic on stage, full of enthusiasm he sings with power delivering a solid and long show, with the classic repertoire of the 1973 including a incredible “Steaming rolling blues” version, together a sensitive I’ll Remember you and nice super pop I’m Leaving….. On stage is an impressive figure in Fire jumpsuit, the rocker attitude still intact, the voice great, the atmosphere enormous, the demand terrific, 13.000 lucky people attended at the two shows of Spokane.
The show is unreleased almost complete, Johnny B. Goode is missing for the half.. Here we present the show directly from a first generation copy of a privately-recorded 60-minute cassette. The sound was painstakingly
restored for your listening pleasure. The sound quality here is incredible good, considering it was taped from the audience.

Elvis and overall the band is loud and clear, the sounds is very powerful in very good balanced mix with some great James Burton’ guitar solos, the audience is never too intrusive giving instead the real feeling of the concert.

Track list: As recorded live at Spokane Coliseum, April 28, 1973 8.00 PM

"Lightning Strikes Twice In Portland!" New Import CD: Out soon is the new Straight Arrow's double-digipak CD release, called "Lightning Strikes Twice In Portland!" (From „The Rick Rennie master tapes“ Vol. 2), featuring the Wednesday, November 11th, 1970 & Friday, April 27th, 1973, Memorial Coliseum, Portland shows. These shows may well represent some of best of Elvis Presley live in the 70s. The Nov. 11th, 1970 recording really captures the raw excitement and electricity of those early tours. Elvis delivers a high octane performance that drives the audience in a frenzy. In parts he sounds a bit unfocused, but overall both Elvis and his audience are having such a ball that any criticisms of his performance are nothing more than nitpicking. The April 27, 1973 concert in the same city may well be his best show of the year, and is a serious contender for "Elvis' best concert performance in the 70's". Compared to the '70 show, his performance here is tighter, more focused and far more varied. Elvis is vocally strong and he delivers the goods in a knock-out performance.
Both shows were first released by the Live Archives label (1991) using slightly incomplete and inferior sounding copies of original Rick Rennie tapes. Memory Records issued those shows in 2004 ('On the Road Again' and 'Shining In Portland'). Those Memory Records releases were engineered and mastered using now obsolete hardware and software. 10 years have passed, and it is right time for the ultimate re-release of these special recordings - in a new, crisp, dynamic sound. Straight Arrow’s release of the November 11th, 1970 show appears - for the first time - totally complete. The Opening Vamp and the famous "Elvis has left the building" announcement at the end of show were restored. The 1970 show is taken directly from the original stereo master tape. The 1973 show is taken from better of two existing 1st generation copies made back in 70s (the master tape got lost thru the years). Original tape transfers made in March 2004 have been used. Every second was digitally restored from scratch to achieve optimal listening pleasure. Ask your local dealer for samples. 'The King Holds Court' New Import CD: Following the remarkable success of our earlier 3CD set "On A Winning Streak", Straight Arrow is pleased to announce another 3CD collection featuring three more unreleased shows from the Summer 1973 engagement in excellent quality audience recorded audio. Tuesday, August 28, 1973 Dinner Show & Wednesday, August 29, Dinner & Midnight Shows, Las Vegas Hilton Hotel. The three shows are all strong shows, with Elvis vocally strong (much more than in February '73) and delivering a very varied selection of songs at each of the shows. It's clear that he is in his element here, as his entertaining interaction with the audience and his knock-out vocal performances amply demonstrate. The presence of his daughter Lisa Marie inspires Elvis to give his best. These shows are a delight, and especially in this clear vibrant audience recorded audio that gives you a true "you are there" feel, they make for captivating listening. The August 28, 1973 D/S and August 29, 1973 D/S and M/S are previously unreleased. A few highlights from the (previously released) August 28, 1973 M/S were added. All 3 shows are taken from 1st
generation copies of original audience recorded cassettes, made back in the 70s by English super-fan Rex Martin. Every second was digitally restored, every click manually removed, every drop-out fixed to achieve optimal listening pleasure. Ask your local dealer for samples to judge for yourself! If you enjoyed the "On A Winning Streak" set, then you will definitely not be disappointed by its sequel, "The King Holds Court"!

'Bicentennial Superstar' New Import CD: From the TNT Record label, again with a little help from our friends at “Audionics” - a closer look to the extremely busy Elvis in the Summer of 1976. As we all know it was a time when Elvis actually should have cared a lot more for himself than for his fans. Money might also have been some kind of reason to continue restless touring and the quality of his performances were in many cases merely a shadow of the past. Still Elvis´ popularity was tremendous and it seemed so easy to sell out every single show. And so he did on the two nights featured in this 2 CD set.
Show #1 took place on June 30th, and the 16000 fans at the Coliseum in Greensboro absolutely loved Elvis´ show although they experienced that “the pelvis didn´t move quite the way it used to” and that “Elvis Presley is in his forties now” and “has put on some weight in the midsection”. While the fans on the one hand didn´t bother that much regarding Elvis´ weight the press did. Anyhow the reviews were still okay and the reporters finally had to admit that the “Elvis magic” still turns ém on! Thankfully the concert has been recorded from the soundboard and for this kind of recordings it has
fantastic sound! Plus it reveals that Elvis delivers at least a decent and entertaining show. Show #2 is from August 31, and by this time Elvis´ health problems were visual even for his most dedicated fans. On this late August/early September tour The “King” had a very bad start with terrible performances in San Antonio, Houston, Mobile and Tuscaloosa. Collectors most likely do own the released CDs with the shows from August 28 and 30 so they can judge for themselves. Elvis “Super-Fan” Brenda Dymock was a witness on every show of the tour and she wrote in a 1976 article which she sent to UK´s Rex Martin: “Well I don´t know what happened with Elvis between Tuscaloosa and Macon but Boy! What a difference. He was in a great mood and really put on a great show.”
Well, whatever Brenda has experienced: Just listen yourself on yet another great sounding soundboard recording!
EIN notes - Show 1 has been previously released as 'My, It's Been A Long Long Time' on the Luxor label. Show 2 has previously been out as 'Southbound' also on the Luxor label and is a pretty poor concert.

'A New Decade, A New Sound' New Import CD: Out soon is the new Straight Arrow's double-digipak CD release 'A New Decade, A New Sound', (Rick Rennie master tapes Vol. 1) featuring the February 3rd and 5th, 1970 Dinner shows.Looking back at Elvis' final decade of live shows, there are two Las Vegas engagements that stand out: the August '69 one obviously, but certainly also the one in February '70. Whereas the '69 comeback shows were a natural extension of the NBC '68 special with a strong focus on his classic hits, the second engagement From the way he performed these songs, you could tell that he really loved them and genuinely enjoyed the new direction his career was now taking. Most of the oldies were gone from the setlist. It was a very bold move, especially for an artist whose career in the sixties had been marked by boredom and predictability. Released from the chains of the past, Elvis looked and sounded like a man in full control of his career, and he clearly relished the artistic freedom that was now his.
The fact that the music sounded better than before was due in no small part thanks to the two newcomers to the core band; Glen D. Hardin on piano and Bob Lanning on drums. Hailing from Lubbock, Texas, Hardin grew up with Elvis' music, seemed to know all the songs, and was able to contribute with a lot of ideas. Just as importantly, he wrote fresh arrangements for several of the new songs in the show. Elvis loved these arrangements, and Hardin quickly became a highly valued member of the band. Lanning was & is a true no-nonsense rock & roll drummer, who cites Earl Palmer as a main influence. No surprise therefore that he refused to be speeded up by Elvis (or by anyone else, for that matter), and instead focused on laying down a solid groove. In retrospect, this goes a long way in explaining why the February 1970 recordings are musically more solid than other live recordings from the 70s. With that in mind, we would like to dedicate this special collectors' release to messrs. Hardin and Lanning. It’s worth mentioning that Bob Lanning was "found" quite recently after a 45-year absence, and he will be part of a special Elvis show that will be touring Europe in May 2015! And no doubt it'll be a sensation to hear his tight & fearless drumming again after all these years!
The February 3rd, 1970 D/S was previously released by the Memory Records label ('Have Some Fun Tonight', 2002). The February 5th, 1970 D/S was released twice from an inferior source and finally by Memory Records ('International Earthquake', 2002). Those Memory Records releases were engineered and mastered using obsolete hardware and software and for some mysterious reason, both shows were even slightly edited.
12 years have passed, and now it‘s time for the ultimate re-release of these special recordings - in a new, crisp, dynamic sound, and with no edits. Straight Arrow’s release of February 3rd and 5th, 1970 Dinner Shows is taken directly from the original tape transfers made in 2001. Every second was digitally restored from scratch to achieve optimal listening pleasure. Ask your local dealer for samples.
As every Straight Arrow’s re-release, this beautifully designed double-digipack edition is limited to 500 copies.

During his April 1975 tour Elvis was in good form, in a great mood and cracking jokes. We have already had plenty of soundboards from the May 1975 but no complete soundboards from April. 3. 'Flaming Star' FTD Soundtrack Album.
No tracklist or details have been supplied as yet.

Release date late November.

Full details soon

4. 'Elvis' Christmas Album' - FTD Classic Album
No tracklist or details have been supplied as yet.
There is little unreleased from Elvis' classic 1957 Christmas album September session. There is a known short part of studio dialogue before 'White Christmas' but the main session outtakes have been lost. Perhaps some more extra studio banter has been found on the master count-ins.
There are however plenty of binaural outtakes from the January 1957 'Peace In The Valley', 'It Is No Secret' session etc.

Release date late November - just in time for Christmas.

Full details soon

'Tryin' To Get To Tahoe' New Import CD: Out soon from the E.P. Collector label is the 'Tryin' To Get To Tahoe' recorded at the Lake Tahoe, NV, May 16, 1974 Opening show. Elvis' spring '74 shows were consistently strong, and the May concerts in Lake Tahoe were no exception. Elvis' shows there were solid and entertaining, and he was in particularly good voice. The set lists offered a wide variety of music, and Elvis' commitment and enthusiasm made these intimate shows very memorable for those who were lucky enough to attend them. The show on this CD has never been released in any form, and this very decent, digitally restored audience recording gives you a unique perspective of what it was like to experience him in person in Lake Tahoe during this engagement.
The CD is packaged in a nicely designed digipack with rare Lake Tahoe, May ’74 cover shot and collection of ”Peacock” images taken in Cleveland show on June 21st, 1974.

'Elvis At The Hilton' New Import CD: From the AudiRec label a brand new double-CD Set which will be released shortly.
CD 1 includes the complete “3 A.M.” Show while CD 2 includes the complete Dinner Show, both dated September 2, 1973.
It was the summer of 1973 - “Labor Day Weekend” brought thousands of visitors to Las Vegas, the “Entertainment Capital City of the World” and Elvis – again – was the most requested performer people wanted to see in Concert.  No wonder the Colonel agreed when being asked to schedule a special “3 A.M. Show” on Sunday morning (Sept. 2) to fulfill the many requests for tickets. Elvis was so popular in Vegas, it is hard to compare with any of today´s artists. So it is never a fault to say that Elvis was indeed the “King Of Vegas”. For our first release and with all the technical help we could get from our friends from the “Straight Arrow” Label we were able to obtain two rare shows, both from September 2, 1973. We were given the opportunity to work with the original tapes, recorded at the showroom of the Las Vegas Hilton Hotel by a very well-known and a hundred percent devoted Elvis-Fan. Both shows have been recorded with a tape-recorder brought in secretly and have to be called “typical audience recordings”, though clearly ones which are of real good quality for that type of recordings.
Did you know, that Elvis rode on the back of “Memphis Mafia-Member” Lamar Fike when entering the stage at this early morning show of September 2? He was clearly in a playful and funny mode in the morning hours of this Sunday and it was showing in many parts of this concert. We all know the photos from the Closing Show of this engagement (just one day later) where Elvis did the same (riding on Lamar´s back but this time with a toy monkey on HIS shoulders) – but that was not the first time Elvis did such a “special” start of the show. Anyhow, this is just a small piece of information we collected for the 16-page booklet which accompanies the release. You will read many details regarding those two shows, written down by witnesses just barely one hour after the shows ended – up at their hotel room at the Las Vegas Hilton Hotel!
FTD have released the superb audio quality September 3 1973 D.S / M.S. on their 2004 'Closing Night'.

'14000 Fans Can’t Be Wrong!' New Import VINYl/ CD: To be released shortly on the VV label their sixth release "14000 fans Can’t be wrong!" featuring the UNRELEASED complete live audience recording on September 13th 1970 8.30 PM show From Tampa, Florida.. The vinyl will be accompanied from a deluxe digipack cd including the Show plus the almost previous day show from Miami + a bonus glossy PHOTO . After the success of our previous releases We decided: to give you more.….. so we decided to not only bring you an UNRELEASED show with best audio possible , but also an expanded cd in deluxe digipack with practically two shows!!!
“14000 fans can’t be wrong!!!” wants to give you a unique perspective of the man and his music during his first tour in 1970.. This will be the first STEP of a wider project, in fact the producers’ intention is to accompanied this first volume with other unreleased
show from Elvis’ 1970 first tour.
Elvis‘ first tour comes almost immediately after the third Las Vegas season, maybe too soon to give Elvis time to recuperate…from a long and we suspect boring month of concerts in Vegas. The tour was a 8 concerts in 6 different cities. It was a modest tour considering Elvis’ popularity , in fact all the date were an immediately sold out with a wild reaction from the audience. Elvis looked great at the top of his possibility, performing a solid and maybe too short show with the best of the repertoire of the previous month in Vegas with no new songs added.
About the Show, Elvis’ sang the two best singles from the 1969 sessions + plus his last one from the 1970 sessions…I’ve Lost You maybe for the moderate success only, won’t be performed anymore after this tour..In the Ghetto will follow the same destiny …. Talking about of the best song, all the songs a very well performed although sometime no too seriously, overall in the case of a serious one like In The Ghetto…however in “The new song” I’ve Lost You and You’ve Lost the Loving Feeling we find Elvis at his best… In the cd we include together the Tampa show also 30 minutes of Miami Evening show, giving to the listen a wider spectrum about Elvis’ first tour. The Miami show was already released but we have in our hands a straight copy from the original tape, so we decide to add the highlights of the show to complete the bonus cd in the matter to delivery 80 MINUTES OF music.
Both the recording come from an early generation copy of the master tape, the sound quality is very good considering the early tour. We have on our hands the original mono tape of extremely good quality enabling us to carry out simple re-mastering work, concentrating on the reduction of noise trying to achieve a more clear sound of Elvis, keeping his vocal power up in the central mix and at the same time trying to give a great definition to the background music.
The LP 140 VINYL GRAM, IT BRINGS TO THE BEST QUALITY TO DATE!!!!is a LIMITED HAND NUMBERED 500 COPIES. It comes with an CLASSIC SLEEVE AS OUR FIRST RELEASE, WITH A FEW BEAUTIFUL SHOTS FORM THE CONCERT giving an unique view. The bonus cd comes with expanded tracklist with a deluxe digipack . A bonus glossy heavy paper A/4 format comes to complete this beautiful package.

'In The Heat Of The Desert' New Import CD: The new Touchdown contains the previously unavailable Las Vegas Dinner Show August 21, 1974. This show has not been available on CD or CD-R before and hence is totally new to fans. Taking into consideration that this is an audience recording the sound is reportedly very good. The show is performed on a highly professional level with a dedicated Elvis giving it all.
Includes a 16 page Booklet.
EIN Notes, Elvis gave 27 shows in this season, 26 of which have already been released on various formats. This concert is the only one that is missing. If it is the genuine article in good quality sound then it is an essential release for all die-hard collectors. However the setlist looks very similar to the midnight 20th August show. EIN is waiting for verification. (Thanks Ciscoking)

New release from the 'SR' label: ELVIS – LIVING THE PAIN (1-CD LONGBOX 4 PANEL DIGIPACK)

HILTON HOTEL SHOWROOM, LAS VEGAS, NEVADA, USA, 21-02-1972 MIDNIGHT SHOW

The forthcoming release from the "SR" label is titled "Living the Pain" and will feature the unreleased show from Las Vegas February 21, 1972.

As everybody knows SR concentrates it's work on early 70's live period of Elvis' activity, trying to produce always unreleased shows with Elvis at the top of his possibilities. With the new release, we are proud to present the complete show from February 21th midnight show, a rare show from a Vegas winter season always poor of official and unofficial releases.. Elvis' love of singing is clear in this tape and we are glad to give you the opportunity to listen to it.

The midnight show from February 21th, as presented on this CD, represents just one of the best shows of the season, If we look closely at the first Vegas act of 1972 we can see that Elvis concentrates on the music to produce great shows. The in-between song chat and banter have gone and each number is delivered promptly without even a pause for applause.

The 'NEW' songs introduced do reflect the mood of the man and for sure the rocking days are over but the rendition of the early seventies repertoire is solid and sung with great ability.

Talking of these new additions we see some great songs, representative of his life from this stage on. Naturally we are referring to songs such as 'You Gave Me A Mountain' which has an autobiographical theme of a man who no singing the pain, but LIVING IT and 'An American Trilogy' which demonstrates his personal beliefs and patriotic views. Elvis also worked hard to promote his new single 'Until It's Time For You To Go.' Here are also included rare performance of Help Me Make It Through The Night together the classic Bridge Over Troubled Water..

This recording come from an early generation copy of the master tape, the sound quality is very good considering the early season. The sound was restored in a studio to achieve best possible results. We have spent hours in the studio over the digital restoration of the sound, to achieve the best possible results and to give you the chance to hear it with pleasure.

This new CD will come in a new kind of deluxe long Digipack four panels, containing a collection of live and candid photographs from early 1972 .

'Adios Lincoln' and 'Rattling Plates, Aces'n'Eights' New Imports: Two new imports announced today by Straight Arrow.
'Adios Lincoln' - Most of Elvis’ musicians prefer not to talk about Elvis’ final tours, but whenever they do, they usually agree that final tour was one that should have never been undertaken. It was simply one tour too many. At this stage it was impossible to hide the fact that Elvis was in serious problems.
This show is from Monday, June 20, 1977, 830pm, Lincoln.
In any case, the Lincoln concert is one of the finest shows from that last tour. Elvis sounds much better than in Omaha the day before. Surprises include a well-sung ‘Help Me’ and arguably the best ever version of ‘Unchained Melody’, which for the first and only time was performed before the band introductions. Interestingly, and completely unknown until now, is that Elvis asks J.D. Sumner and the Stamps to perform 'Walk That Lonesome Road' during the band intros, which is very unusual for the time frame.
The June 20, 1977 show was first issued on CD in 2004 (Elvis Rocks
Lincoln). This sloppy edition was taken from an incomplete source, missing 17 minutes. For the first time Straight Arrow offer this concert complete. Using two independent original audience recorded tapes, Straight Arrow's sound engineer was able to restore all 73 minutes of Lincoln concert.
This new CD edition is limited to 500 copies. Do not miss one of the best shows from Elvis Presley final tour!
Tracklist: 1. Introduction: Also Sprach Zarathustra - 02. C. C. Rider - 03. I Got A Woman / Amen - 04. Love Me - 05. If You Love Me (Let Me Know) - 06. You Gave Me A Mountain - 07. 'Rattling Plates, Aces'n'Eights': Elvis' Friday, August 24, 1973 Dinner Show, Las Vegas.
Imagine being a singer, and really putting your heart into a song. At the same time, your audience is having dinner, and some of them plainly don’t give a fuck about you or your singing. They are talking loudly, making noises with their plates, smoking one cigarette after another… Doesn’t sound very enticing, does it?
By 1973, it was clear that Elvis’ Las Vegas shows had a negative effect on the singer. But even at this stage, he was still impressive as a singer and a performer, and especially on those nights where he really turned on the power, there was nobody like him in Vegas -- or anywhere else, for that matter.
The August 24th, 1973 dinner show is unreleased in any form and was sourced from an original, excellent sounding audience recorded "booth tape". What is perhaps most surprising, is that Elvis was still quite focused three weeks into the engagement.
In earlier years, the standard had sometimes slipped a bit in the third week, even as early as August ’70! Now he delivers a strong show, with ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’, ‘The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face’ and ‘Big Hunk O’ Love’ being the show highlights. ‘Heartbreak Hotel’ was not a regular during this season up to this point, but he delights the audience with a snappy version of his first million seller. And who knows, at this stage he may well have concluded that he’d found his own ‘Heartbreak Hotel’…
This show was rediscovered recently and we believe that you will agree with us that this is another great find. A real must - not just for the hardcore collector. Another quality Straight Arrow release!

'Such A Night: The Definitive Live rarities Collection' New Import: Out soon is the 4 CD set "Such A Night: The Definitive Live rarities Collection".
Basically a clever collection of previously released "rare" material.
Most keen Elvis collectors will have nearly all these tracks already, the majority of Soundboard recordings having been released on the FTD label.

Perhaps the audience recordings - some are one-liners of  'Folsom prison blues – i walk the line', 'You don’t know me', 'Memphis Tennessee', 'I John', 'Rip it up', 'His latest flame', 'Trouble – Raised on rock', 'What a friend we have in jesus', 'Roses are red', 'Jingle bells', 'Ku-u-i-po', and 'Suzie Q' are a draw card but you would have to be super keen.

FTD Releases August 2014: Three new releases announced for August 2014 release, a Classic Album, UK book, plus new LIVE vinyl album.
- ‘Elvis For Everyone’ – Classic Album.
This 2-Disc 7" Set Celebrates 1965’s Classic Album "Elvis For Everyone" and features a selection of previously officially unreleased session outtakes.
The original press release posted by RCA in August 1965 says, "This is the first Elvis Presley album since 1962 [POT LUCK] that is not a movie soundtrack album." In this new album, Presley demonstrates great versatility by singing a wide range of songs, familiar and unfamiliar, slow ballads and hard-driving rock’’n’rollers. Only one of these songs has ever been issued before ("Summer Kisses, Winter Tears"). The lead off-song, "Your Cheatin’ Heart." Is the title song of the new movie based on the life of Hank Williams., currently playing throughout the country … ..Varied repertoire and Elvis in top form make this really Elvis For Everyone."
Although it was compiled from previously unreleased recordings, it appeared like a breath of fresh air to Elvis fans that had become
somewhat tired of the formulaic soundtracks. The LP hit the top 10 on both sides of the Atlantic.
This 2-CD classic edition features insightful essays, rare memorabilia and great outtakes!
It also features the rare overdubbed version of "Wild in The Country" that featured maracas and additional bass guitar. Although, the source remains a mystery to this day, it was supplied to RCA-UK for its stereo version of the album as a replacement for "Summer Kisses." This track had been issued two months before on RCA-UK’s unique album, Flaming Star And Summer Kisses.
Apart from OPTIONAL MASTERS that could have been used, DISC 2 contains 23 Previously Unreleased Outtakes from the ‘60s!!!!!!
Go here to SONY/FTD 2014 releases for full tracklisting.
- "Best Of British – The RCA Years 1957-1958
This is Elvis, with the continuation of the British story now detailing his RCA releases from 1957 - 1958. As a companion to the critically acclaimed and highly successful ‘Elvis: The Best Of British - The HMV Years’, this book contains the full history of over FIFTY iconic Elvis songs initially released by RCA in Great Britain. Again, each song has been thoroughly researched to the same high standards and is graphically catalogued.
Containing over 1000 illustrations, unpublished photographs and charts, together with rare items of memorabilia, this volume of ‘The RCA Years’ moves the story forward to explicitly reveal previously unknown facts and additional British connections to the songs.
Within these 500 pages and amongst many formerly unknown
fascinating facts, you will discover:
The English pub that inspired an Elvis song!
Exactly where and when Elvis learned to play piano!
The real life characters contained within the lyrics of Jailhouse Rock!
The CD included with this book features many first-time officially released Elvis tracks. Here, amongst his classic songs, are the songwriters’ demo recordings as Elvis first heard them, plus the message he recorded on his home answer machine!
‘The RCA Years (1957 - 1958)’ chronicles the meteoric rise in Great Britain of the ‘Sun King’ to the man who would ultimately be crowned ‘Artist Of The 20th Century’.
Elvis innovated, others imitated!

‘Final Countdown To Midnight' Two Extra jewel-case Deluxe Versions: Due to the enormous success of Backdraft’s box-set ‘Final Countdown to Midnight’ it appears that not enough copies were pressed which have left keen Elvis fans having to go without. Released only two weeks ago copies are already nigh impossible to track down.
Since we are unable to publish more copies of the boxset due to logistical reasons, Backdraft have decided to help satisfy fan demand by releasing 2 separate products both housed in a deluxe super-jewel case.
A 2CD version and a separate DVD only release, both with different front covers, contain a deluxe 24 page booklet inside. We would like to point out that the content of the booklets in both of the releases are entirely different and that, the photographs and text information are not repeated inside each of the releases.
These are again in very limited supplies and dealers will be restricted on quantities.

In the meantime, the production team at Backdraft would like to thank Elvis fans from around the world for their enormous support on this and our past releases.
Backdraft also announce the news that in the near future they will release a brand new unreleased soundboard (never before heard, not even as an audience recording) from the Las Vegas engagement from the Summer of 1970!! Another brand new release fans are sure to need for their collection.

'Final Countdown To Midnight' NYE 1976 - in-depth Review: The deluxe 2CD/DVD set released by Backdraft label is the ultimate look at Elvis' 1976 New Year's Eve performance. Previously available via CDs with peak-audio distortion and on DVD/VHS with low quality fan-footage, now Backdraft have published a 106-page book plus remastered high-quality audio and incredible DVD featuring multi-camera angles. It has to be one of the essential Elvis releases of the year.

There is no doubt that Elvis’ final New Year’s Eve concert was certainly his last "Great" performance of his life. The nearly COMPLETE concert video which premieres to the world here will attest to the above statement. This DVD debuts newly discovered films, some of which have been transferred in High Definition and are positively stunning! The rich, vibrant colours provide a truly novel viewing experience.

The 106 page book boasts many rare and unpublished photos, detailed information about the show and an eyewitness text! The double CD set is also complete (unlike the edited FTD 2003 official release).

Go here - EIN's Piers Beagley provides an in-depth review of this amazing deluxe box-set.

'Elvis Presley - Some Call It Folk' New Import CD: Elvis’ 1970 Country album was a great idea, so it is a shame that with Elvis’ interest in contemporary folk music he didn’t release a "Folk" themed album.
For the May 1971 session Elvis had even used folk group The Nashville Edition as backing singers and selected some interesting songs to record.
However from a marketing perspective we can hardly see an LP called "Elvis Folk"appealing to his fans in 1971, and let’s face it Elvis wasn’t recording what the general public would consider Folk. Instead the sound was more of a spontaneous "unplugged acoustic" feel as opposed to the more recent big ballads or soulful stew of the Memphis
sessions.  But still….some call it folk.
Now for the very first time.... finally an Elvis ‘Folk’ album. Housed
in a stunning 3 panel digipack. Don’t miss this one, and order your copy today !!

'The Rocker Strikes Again' New Import CD: Announced by an unknown label "The Rocker Strikes Again - Elvis Presley's Greatest Rock and Roll."
From the publicity... Do you remember? Back in the 1980’s two fantastic rock and roll compilation albums were releases by RCA: "Rocker" (1985) and "Return Of The Rocker" (1986). The albums were a huge success and a follow up, a third volume was already planned, including a full track listing but....for unknown reasons it was never released by RCA. Now, 28 years after volume two here is the final edition in this series: "The Rocker Strikes Again!" As with volumes 1 and 2 a stunning shot of Elvis on the motorbike is on the front cover. A beautiful 4 page full colour booklet housed in a plain white jewelcase, volume 3 contains 22 of the greatest rock and roll tracks released between 1964 – 1976. Masters, undubbed masters, live recordings and alternate takes… it’s all here for the perfect rock and roll album! So finally you have the change to complete your Rocker collection. Limited Edition only!
Note - Looks a little homemade to EIN - but what a fun cover

'Elvis: That's The Way It Is' Deluxe Edition: After weeks of speculation Sony/RCA/Legacy officially announce the release of monumental definitive edition of "Elvis: That's The Way It Is (Deluxe Edition)" presented together for the first time ever in a Deluxe Box Set (8CD/2DVD). Available on August 5, 2014.
The CD selection is exactly as EIN predicted with two concerts being officially released for the very first time.
CD1 ‘That's The Way It Is’ - Original Album
CD2 August 10 Opening Show - (FTD One Night in Vs)
CD3 August 11 DS - Unreleased
CD4 August 11 MS - (BMG Live In Las Vegas box-set)
CD5 August 12 DS - Unreleased
CD6 August 12 MS - (BMG 30th Anniv box-set)
CD7 August 13 DS - (FTD The Wonder Of You)
CD8 Rehearsals - (BMG 30th Anniv box-set)
That’s The Way It Is (Deluxe Edition) is the most ambitious Elvis Presley restoration package ever created, bringing together - for the first time ever - the album, the theatrical and home video versions of the film, six full-length concerts (featuring previously unreleased performances), rehearsal highlights and other rare recordings in one astounding and essential package. The result of an historic partnership between Sony and Warner Brothers, the deluxe set combines the video and audio assets of Elvis: That’s The Way It Is with unique and previously unreleased material.
The highly-collectible That’s The Way It Is (Deluxe Edition), bonuses include unreleased material, remixed and remastered audio and a new 80-page book detailing the entire event with facts, songwriter and musician interviews, and photos in a deluxe 8CD/2DVD box set.
Originally released on RCA Records in November 1970, Elvis: That's The Way It Is combined eight studio tracks, recorded in Nashville, and four live concert performances recorded in Las Vegas during Presley's 1970 "Summer Festival" season at The International Hotel in Las Vegas to create one of Elvis' best albums.
On July 14, rehearsals for the movie and live shows commenced at the MGM lot in Culver City, California. The Hollywood cameras rolled for five different rehearsals prior to the opening night on August 10. Unquestionably, Elvis was keen to broaden his repertoire for the film,as more than 60 songs were attempted during the period, far more than the usual average of 20 to 25 that would normally be chosen. Over the four nights filmed by MGM, Elvis and his band worked tirelessly, trying out a broad variety of musical styles, emphasizing his desire to share the wide range of music he loved with his audience. Director Denis Sanders captured the end result magnificently, providing fans throughout the world with their first glimpse of the new contemporary Elvis performing at the peak of his vocal prowess both in rehearsal and on the stage.
'That's The Way It Is (Deluxe Edition)' centers on the SIX complete shows recorded and partially filmed by MGM. Two of the shows are released for the first time in their entirety.
The original RCA album is expanded with the four single sides from the period, and a selection of “fly-on-the-wall” outtakes from the June Nashville sessions that produced the majority of tracks for the album. Completing the audio section, a separate disc of insightful rehearsal highlights, featuring unusual song selections showcases both the hard work and the playful atmosphere that governed Elvis’ relationship with his musicians.
That's The Way It Is (Deluxe Edition) puts the original RCA album and the 1970 MGM documentary feature together in a single package for the first time. It includes the previously released original theatrical DVD version (1970) and the re-edited and extended DVD version from 2000.
(EIN note: What a shame not one scrap of new footage has been included. This would have been the perfect place and presumably indicates that there will never be an official release of any more MGM filmed material).

'Around Midnight' New Import CD: Out now on the Verve label is "Around Midnight" in improved sound from Elvis' Las Vegas Midnight Show August 21, 1974. EIN notes, the signs are everywhere that the bootleggers are struggling to find any good new Elvis material to release, they are either copying off each other or FTD with promises of "Improved audio".
This concert has been previously issued on the FTD ' Nevada Nights' in pretty good sound quality. See review here.

'Elvis As Recorded Live In Lake Tahoe' New Import CD: From no notable label and with a poor cover photo this is supposedly "a great sounding soundboard recording" remaster. This is a re-release of the Lake Tahoe Dinner Show from May 23, 1974. First released on "...And The King For Dessert" bootleg from 1998.
Perhaps worthwhile if you don’t have the original, - see note above "The signs are everywhere that the bootleggers are struggling" ...

Monday 2 June 2014
Two New FTD Releases June: FTD is pleased to announce its new June 2014 releases.
- 'The Return To Vegas' - This is the official release of the soundboard recording that Joan Deary planned as a double album release back in the late seventies. It’s the earliest known professional recording from Elvis’ 1969 engagement in Las Vegas. The original tape box has "opening night" written on the back, but that’s not the real date. Some experts believe it’s from August 3, but we have no information what so ever to suggest a certain date.
However, the arrangements seem to suggest that this show is definitely several days earlier than the shows RCA recorded from August 20 and onwards. Why Joan Deary edited and mastered this for release is another mystery, since she of course had all the shows RCA recorded on 8-track tape with audio in substantially better quality. This release comes in a 7" digi-pack with a 12-pages booklet, featuring great photos from the collections of Steve Barile & Jim Patino, and a foreword by Ken Sharp.
Tracklist: 1. Blue Suede Shoes, 2. I Got A Woman, 3. All Shook Up, 4. Love Me Tender, 5. Jailhouse Rock / Don't Be Cruel, 6. Heartbreak

Hotel, 7. Hound Dog, 8. Memories, 9. Mystery Train / Tiger Man, 10. Monologue, 11. Baby, What You Want Me To Do, 12. Are You Lonesome Tonight?, 13. Yesterday / Hey Jude, 14. Introductions, 15. In The Ghetto, 16. Suspicious Minds, 17. What’d I Say, 18. Can’t Help Falling In Love.
Previously released on the bootleg 'Return Of A Prodigy' (see EIN review here), the remastered audio on this FTD is supposed to be far superior.
- 'Memphis To Nashville '61' FTD Book/CD: FTD Books and Flaming Star, in association with EPE, will release a new book – "Memphis To Nashville ’61" – in late June. This will give a comprehensive account of the two Memphis charity shows that Elvis performed at the Ellis Auditorium on a cold day in February 1961. The book includes accounts of that day and the events leading up to it. It features accounts from Elvis’ musicians, friends and fans, magazine- and newspaper articles from the time, and many rare and newly-discovered photographs. The collection of over 100 unpublished photographs, most of them in black and white, have been collected from many different sources; some are from original negatives whilst others are from original prints. Also included in the book is a section on Elvis’ visit to Nashville on March 8, 1961, less than two weeks after the benefit shows of February 25, to receive an honorary colonelship from the Governor of Tennessee, Buford Ellington. Furthermore, the final part of the volume includes information and details relating to the recording sessions held on March 12 and 13, 1961 that provided most of the tracks for the classic LP, "Something For Everybody". As an added bonus, the book comes with a CD containing the mono version of "Something For Everybody" plus
recordings of Elvis’ press conference, held at the Hotel Claridge in Memphis on February 25, 1961, and of the presentation of honours at the Tennessee State Capitol just 11 days later.
The 'Memphis To Nashville '61' Book includes a bonus CD. Tracklisting: Something For Everybody (mono version) Plus BONUSES 13) Press Conference (March 25, 1961) 14) Elvis Is Made An Honorary Colonel (March 8 1961) (go HERE for full tracklisting)
Both "The Return To Vegas" and "Nashville To Memphis '61" will be shipped last week of June.

'Bossa Nova Baby: Party Album' European version: Just when you think SONY has created a funky new cover for a party album (see below), they then come up with a crappy "K-Tel" type design for the "Bossa Nova Baby: The Ultimate Elvis Presley Party Album" European version! What were they thinking?
The European version features nine extra tracks, but then they totally dilute the content with rubbish like 'Stop, Look and Listen', 'Adam and Evil', 'What a Wonderful Life' and 'Girl Happy'. These are songs that will not be making GenZ dance across the floor - sometimes Less really is More!
Tracklist:1. Bossa Nova Baby - Viva Mix, 2. A Little Less Conversation - JXL Radio Edit Remix, 3. Burning Love - Viva Mix, 4. (Let's Have A) Party, 5. Jailhouse Rock, 6. Guitar Man, 7. King Creole - Viva Mix, 8. Viva Las Vegas, 9. What a Wonderful Life, 10. A Big Hunk O' Love, 11. Follow That Dream, 12. Rubberneckin' - Paul Oakenfold Remix, 13. Got a Lot O' Livin' to Do!, 14. Good Rockin' Tonight, 15. Little Sister, 16. Girl Happy, 17. Stop, Look and Listen, 18. Adam and Evil, 19. Down in the Alley, 20. Big Boss Man, 21. Too Much Monkey Business, 22. Patch It Up, 23. Mystery Train / Tiger Man, 24. Suspicious Minds

'That's the Way It Is' Legacy 2CD Set: It seems that although 2014 is supposed to be a celebration of Elvis and the "60th Anniversary of the Birth of Rock'n'Roll", SONY have instead decided to celebrate the 44th Anniversary of 'That's the Way It Is'!
Not only is the Warners Deluxe BluRay DVD Digibook movie being released, as well as the "Deluxe" 8 CD, 2 DVD set also being rumoured - but the two-CD 'That's the Way It Is' Legacy release has also been noted on amazon.

FTD of course released their version back in 2008 so one wonders what RCA/Legacy are going to include on the "General Public" Legacy version.

Release date August 5, SONY are yet to confirm content

'On A Winning Streak!' New Import CD: Out soon from Straight Arrow is the 3CD set "On A Winning Streak" - From "booth tapes Vol.4"featuring three strong shows as recorded on February 17 (DS + MS) and 18 (DS), 1973… which means that all of it was recorded within a day. This release documents what a strain it was on Elvis’ creativity and general well-being to be performing under such a tight schedule for a whole month, but it also shows how well he actually coped under the circumstances. All three shows are tight, lively and entertaining, and you can really hear that the whole room was buzzing with excitement at his shows. All three shows are well-paced, featuring a solid selection of concert favorites as well as songs from the recent ‘Aloha From Hawaii’ television special. Elvis is clearly enjoying the interaction with his fans, and there is plenty of that here. Interestingly, he momentarily loses his patience with one loud fan, though he later says that he was "just kidding".
A fascinating release, featuring all three shows in surprisingly good audience recorded sound: in fact, these recordings are amongst the
finest audience recorded shows out there.
Everything can be heard clearly, including all of Elvis’ comments, and the well-balanced and crisp live sound on these recording will make you feel like you are right there in the showroom enjoying the King in person. These tapes were recently rediscovered, we believe that you will agree with us that this is a great find and a real must, and not just for the hardcore collector.

'Alternate Love letters' and 'I Can Help' New Import CDS: Two new CD releases "Alternate Love Letters" & "I Can Help the 30th anniversary" have been announced but not by any reputable import label and they look like they contain nothing that hasn’t been released before.

The promo blurb states....
'The Alternate Love letters From Elvis'
- features various undubbed and overdubbed masters plus a few live performances.

'Elvis I Can Help – 30th Anniversary Album'
This year it’s 30 years ago that the compilation album ‘I CAN HELP AND OTHER GREAT HITS' was released in the UK. It was one of the most successful Elvis albums of the early 1980’s. It was even released on picture disc and on single ( both ‘I Can Help’ and ‘Green Green Grass Of Home’ housed in a poster bag ) Strangely enough it was never released on CD. We are proud to present the entire album on CD for the first time, including some very hard to find bonus selections including the unreleased 12" version of I Can Help.
Housed in a stunning 3 panel digipack (with UNSEEN photo’s of Elvis from the mid 1970’s) this is a real ‘must have’ for all Elvis CD and photo collectors.

'Elvis - Look Out Jackson Town' New Import CD: Welcome to the third CD release by TNT Records. Again with a little help from our friends at “Audionics” -  probably THE premium and still active label when it comes to rare recordings in best possible sound - we decided once more to pick this time three shows from “Tour Number 14” (May 30 – June 10, 1975). On this brandnew 3 CD set you are going to hear the three 1975 concerts Elvis did in Jackson, Mississippi.
CD1 State Fair Coliseum, Jackson, 08-06-1975 Afternoon Show
CD2 State Fair Coliseum, Jackson, 08-06-1975 Evening Show
CD3 State Fair Coliseum, Jackson, 09-06-1975 Evening Show

Barely over 200 miles or a 3-hour drive from home - on June 8 and 9, 1975 Elvis had Jackson, Mississippi on his tour schedule to play three concerts in two days at the State Fair Coliseum. Tour Number 14 saw its end coming with just another 4 shows in total to do. From all audible and visual experiences listeners of the Jackson-Shows can have it might only be fair to say that Elvis had quite a lot of fun doing what he loved to do: Just being Elvis Presley, singing “his” songs and entertaining the thousands of people who came to see him live in
Concert, paying either the regular ticket price or whatever the many ticket scalpers asked for. The first of the three shows – the afternoon show from June 8 – has been released exactly a decade ago and was titled “Fly T-R-O-U-B-L-E” – it seemed a perfect title for this release because the minute Elvis entered the stage the whole area around him was swarming with flies. On the recording you can hear several jokes and references to those little beasts throughout some parts of the show! The evening performance of this day brings another perfectly motivated Elvis on stage and he delivers another great mixture of “Oldies but Goldies”, Gospels and contemporary titles such as “An American Trilogy” and “The Wonder Of You”. The concert from June 9 (there was only one show this day) can – again – be called “a great performance”. RCA used “Why Me, Lord” from this show on the 1980 “Silver Box” (called “Elvis Aron Presley” – originally released on vinyl as a 8-LP Box). Another nice detail regarding this show: Elvis performed a spontaneous version of “Help Me Make It Through The Night”, the only time he did this song on the whole tour.
If you have missed the show´s first releases from approximately 10 years ago or if you want to owe them in even better sound than before plus exactly the way they were recorded (without the standard “2001 Theme / See See Rider” opening) you should not miss this great new 3 CD set! You can also expect a great 24-pages booklet full of photos and information including newspaper articles and original paperwork. Ask your local dealer for it. - Not EIN!

'From The MGM Vaults Volume 1' New Import: The strangely named Leda Records present the new release, 'From The MGM Vaults Volume 1' - Elvis Live In Vegas, August 11, 1970.
They state that it is the August 11th Midnight Show in the best possible sound ever!
Liner notes: August 11, 1970 midnight show is one of Elvis Presley’s greatest performances with a set list that moves fast and furious from the opening number That's All Right to the closing performance of Can't Help Falling In Love. Elvis is in top form as he was also playing to the cameras as they were filming the iconic documentary, Elvis That's The Way It Is. Now for the first time this show is available in incredible sound from the lost MGM tape mix down of the track masters and has never been heard before, so get ready grab a front row seat and listen to the man who continued to change himself and the music world...the messiah.
EIN notes that this concert has been released officially by BMG on their 'Live In Las Vegas' 2001 box-set and in improved soundquality by the
International label on the import 'That's The Way It Is - The Complete Shows' in 2009. Do we really need it again, and who is behind the Leda Records label? Even the cover looks very homemade.

'Sin City's Hottest Ticket' New Import CD: Coming out soon is the new Straight Arrow's double feature CD release entitled 'Sin City's Hottest Ticket' featuring the August 23, 1973 Dinner and Midnight performances. Both shows are taken from original "booth recordings", taped by the same person who recorded previous Straight Arrow’s release, 'Endless Summer Festival'. The sound quality is far superior to the usual audience recordings. Ask your local dealer for samples! Following the great success of the ‘Aloha’ special, Elvis was more in demand than ever, and he was truly the hottest ticket in town. Las Vegas hotels at the time routinely booked their shows 20% over room capacity, because they knew that normally many of those who ordered tickets would not turn up for the shows. In Elvis’ case this caused problems, because virtually everybody who ordered tickets DID show up!
In private, Elvis was fighting his personal demons at the time, including a severe Demerol addiction, but on stage he was delivering the goods. Perhaps his delivery was not quite as tight as at earlier Vegas
engagements, but he was in good voice and genuinly seemed to enjoy the interaction with the fans. The shows presented here are two solid, engaging performances with plenty of highlights, including a gorgeous ‘The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face’ and a rare-for-this-engagement one to last performance of ‘Something’.
It should be noted that neither of these superb-quality, off-line concert recordings have been previously issued. The August 23, 1973 Dinner show is completely new, even to die-hard Elvis fans. This concert was never in circulation, in any form.

'Praise To The King' New Import CD: To be released shortly on the "SR" label "Praise to the King" featuring the unreleased show from Las Vegas August 23, 1971 Midnight Show. SR's publicity says.. After a long search they located a good tape that gives us the possibility to produce another show from Elvis fifth season.
The midnight show from August 23th, has no surprises in the tracklist but the show is extremely solid and good, Elvis sings all the best from the previous seasons including his new single I’m leaving. The sound is good and powerful you can hear clear all the instruments in particular the incredible job on the drums made from Ronnie Tutt. Elvis' performance on these early season nights is superb as he is still performing to the best of his ability. Although he delivers short shows they are delivered in a very intense, crisp and fresh manner that cannot be denied. Elvis was on stage to have fun and demonstrated this during the older, classic numbers, but songs such as 'Proud Mary, Polk Salad Annie' and 'Sweet Caroline' never sounded better. As Bonus we
add the best of the Afternoon show in the way to give you a full day and a full 80 minutes of cd. Talking of best song the version of Proud Mary delivered from Elvis and the band is incredible surely the highest moment of the night.
This recording come from an early generation copy of the master tape, the sound quality is good considering the early season - the sound is incredibly clear in spite the limitation of an audience recording.
The CD comes in a deluxe digipack, containing a collection of live photographs from the season and informative newspaper clips.
EIN NOTES - our friend and super-collector CiscoKing notes that this concert has been available on CDR for ages with the audio quality being very poor. Please check audio samples before buying this updated release.

'Endless Summer Festival' New Import CD: Out soon is the new Straight Arrow double-digipak CD release 'Endless Summer Festival', featuring the August 22, 1973 Dinner & Midnight performances. Both shows are taken from original "booth recordings" taped by the same person. The sound quality is far superior to the usual audience recordings. The year's journey from Hawaii to Nevada was almost at its end on August 22, 1973. That Wednesday night, Elvis delivered two professional, sold-out performances for the faithful at the Las Vegas Hilton with a mix of the old and new, including a stunning, yet-to-be recorded cover of Richard Harris' 1971 single "My Boy." After the final Hilton show on September 3, bass player Emory Gordy would leave to return to the more creative studio environs of Nashville, Presley would fire Col Parker, Priscilla would leave for good, and Elvis himself would nearly leave the land of the living. It was a long, long way down from that worldwide broadcast in Honolulu on January 14, but the man would survive, somehow, and return to sing his soul that December in Memphis.
It should be noted that neither of these superb-quality, off-line concert
recordings have been previously issued.
Both shows are completely new, even to die-hard Elvis fans. They were never in circulation, in any form. Enjoy the music!

'At Dinner In Vegas' & 'Back On Track In Vegas' New Import CDs: Touchdown Productions proudly presents two new audience recorded releases. One of them, 'At Dinner In Vegas' from September 3, 1972 is another totally new show that didn't even circulate on CDR or in any other form. The show was very good, Elvis was in fine form and sang some very fine renditions of "What Now My Love", "I'll Remember You" and also "For The Good Times"! The sound quality is good for this kind of recordings. The CD comes with a beautiful designed 16-pages booklet.

'Back On Track In Vegas' features the midnight show January 28, 1974. Elvis was much more focussed during the first Vegas engagement in 1974 as he had been during the former engagement when Elvis presented himself less professional than in recent years. The midnight show had an interesting song line-up which included some seldom sung songs like "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'", "Spanish Eyes" or "Sweet Caroline". The sound quality is good for this kind of recordings. The CD comes also as usual with a beautiful designed 16-pages booklet including lots of rare pictures from this engagement!

'Sweet Home Alabama' New Import CD: The second release from TNT Records. After a quick sell-out of our first title “Goin´ Back To Houston” and again with a little help from our friends at “Audionics” - probably THE premium and still active label when it comes to rare recordings in best possible sound - we decided once more to pick two shows from “Tour Number 14” (May 30 – June 10, 1975). On this brand new double-cd set you are going to hear both concerts Elvis did right after a couple of great “warm up”-concerts in Huntsville, AL. Elvis then went on to Mobile for Concerts number 6 and 7 in Mobile, June 2, 1975 Afternoon & Eveing Shows. And the town went nuts for The “King”. As a matter of fact everybody had to admit that Elvis might have been the only entertainer in 1975 who was able to play a sold out crowd on a Monday afternoon! Both Mobile-Shows have been released before, the afternoon performance even came out by the legendary “Madison” label. But if you missed the shows first releases from 10 years ago or want them in even better sound than before plus exactly the way they were recorded (without the standard “2001 Theme / See See Rider” opening) you should not miss this great new double cd! You can also expect a great booklet full of photos and information including newspaper articles and original paperwork. Ask your local dealer for it, he should have it right in time around the scheduled release date January 15, 2013 for you!

New Legacy Release for 2014: Elvis 'Recorded Live On Stage In Memphis' celebrates the 40th Anniversary of the King's triumphant 1974 return to his hometown with an expanded 2CD release of the monumental concert experience.
"I wanted to record a live session in my hometown of Memphis…after all, this is where it all started out for me." - Elvis Presley.
This 2CD Legacy Edition will be released on March 18, 2014 and features several tracks left off the original '74 release in addition to a wealth of unreleased material.
Disc 2 of the remastered edition presents a recently located MONO recording of a "test run" performance held for an ecstatic live audience on March 18, 1974, at the Richmond Coliseum two days before his historic return to Memphis. (This has of course been released on the FTD '48 Hours To Memphis'.)
As a special added bonus for Elvis aficionados, Disc 2 includes five intimate tracks (three of them previously unreleased) cut at the RCA Studios in Hollywood on August 16, 1974. Originally intended as reference recordings for an upcoming Las Vegas engagement, the performances, which include "Down In The Alley,"
"Good Time Charlie's Got The Blues," "Softly As I Leave You," "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" and "The Twelfth Of Never", provide a rare fly-on-the-wall glimpse into Elvis' consummate backstage artistry as he prepares these songs for concert. (Previously released on FTD 'From Sunset To Las Vegas')
Elvis Recorded Live On Stage In Memphis will include a 24 page booklet featuring rare photos, previously unseen memorabilia, new liner notes, press clips and more.

The musicians backing Elvis on Elvis Recorded Live On Stage In Memphis include James Burton and John Wilkinson (guitars); Charlie Hodge (guitar and vocals); Duke Bardwell (bass); Ronnie Tutt (drums); Glen D. Hardin (piano); The Sweet Inspirations, J.D. Sumner & The Stamps, Kathy Westmoreland (vocals) with Joe Guercio and his Orchestra.
Elvis Recorded Live On Stage In Memphis will include a 24 page booklet featuring rare photos, previously unseen memorabilia, new liner notes, press clips and more.
Following the artistic success of his 1973 Stax sessions and the global phenomenon of the Aloha From Hawaii Via Satellite album and broadcast the same year, Elvis opened 1974 with a 15 city tour routed to end in Memphis and a state-of-the-art concert recording.
"I wanted to record a live session in my hometown of Memphis," said Elvis at the time. "After all, this is where it all started out for me."
Originally released on vinyl on July 7, 1974, Elvis Recorded Live On Stage In Memphis reached #1 on the Country charts and featured "How Great Thou Art," the track that would bring Elvis his third (and third Gospel) Grammy win.

"ELVIS 1969" New Import box-set: Out soon from Gravelroad Music is "ELVIS 1969" a very limited 3CD box-set. The publicity notes... Elvis-Musically reborn - This release is intended to be a flawless release with the best sounding Elvis of 1969.
We started by going back to the basic recordings of the American sound studio; the edited repaired master tracks without the dubbing done later in Nashville.
The combination package "Elvis In Person & Back in Memphis" was the basic concept, but we wanted more. During the first days of the comeback in Las Vegas in 1969, special RCA presentation box sets were given away. These box sets are very rare and expensive to get hold of. This was the perfect 1969 package idea for this release.
INCLUDED ARE:
- A 28 page full color /b&w photo folio with 28 photos of Elvis in the style of 1969 including rare or unpublished photos.
- A 32 page full color booklet with original articles,
- An interview with Elvis from 1969, co-workers and musicians about recording at the American Sound Studios and performing in Las Vegas.
- Over 60+ photos of Elvis on stage (many from the same show), various are rare or unpublished
- 15 incredible photos of The American Sound Studio with Elvis, again some are rare or unpublished!!
- Previously unreleased versions.
- A rare studio rehearsal of January 1969.
- The unaltered raw audio of the August 24, 1969 M/S soundboard.
- The reproduction slipcase of the famous 1969 presentation box set.
- All recordings in excellent sound quality.
We hope you’ll agree we did our best to respect and honour the original artistic ideas from 1969.
(News, Source;GRM/ElvisInfoNet)
Elvis himself wasn’t all that thrilled with some of the overdubs.
It’s been said that he was very happy with the sound on the acetates that he took home with him, but less so with the final masters.
Elvis heard the dubbed masters at a very late stage and very little could be done.
As an artist, you can’t always be in complete control of your output, and clearly especially when your name is Elvis Presley.
These original master tracks were the result of the joint vision of producer Chips Moman, the musicians and Elvis.
The two most famous songs from these sessions are without a doubt “Suspicious Minds” and “In The Ghetto”.
- - On disc 2 you will find the multi-track live recording of the August 24, 1969 Midnight Show. Thanks to existing tape legends, paperwork and research and the fantastic unprocessed soundboard recording of the same show, we were able to piece this show together as it was originally recorded. We double-checked and compared the whole show second for second with an audience recording of the show that we had recently acquired. There are only three songs borrowed from the dinner show: “I Can’t Stop Loving You”, “Runaway” and “ What’d I Say”, which are 98% identical to the midnight show versions. We used the career dialogue from the August 24, 1969 dinner show. We don’t have this in multi-track quality and therefore we decided to include a third disc with the original raw unrepaired soundboard. As extra bonus, we used a very rare tape of a rehearsal from January 1969 at the American Sound Studios, where we can even hear a glimpse of Roy Hamilton singing!
--- We hope you’ll agree we did our best to respect and honour the original artistic ideas from 1969.

-- Disc three contains the raw unprocessed soundboard recording of the August 24, 1969 M/S, without effects. A significantly different August 24, Midnight Show when compared to the fragmented release over the years of the multi track recording. Edited due to improper language use or running times. Also segments of this show were used to repair or enhance other 1969 and 1970 multi track recordings. This is the real deal, uncut, raw and finally, no tons of reverb as on previous releases of this remarkable show.
Note - Some of the unrepaired, undubbed masters here were recently released by FTD, in some cases with studio banter. Our versions are the repaired versions and come without this banter, presented exactly as they were prepared for in the spring of 1969 for various overdubs. Our sole intention is to present these songs how they left the Memphis studio, with the okay of Elvis and producer Chips Moman.
The live show was assembled from various sources, including bits taken from regular releases in order to match up the correct audio with the best possible source. Our ultimate goal was to offer the best sounding, most complete multi track version of the 24 August Midnight Show. We also have possession of four reels with safety recordings from 1969 in fantastic quality. Some were previously released on FTD, but there were still little gems left which we wanted to offer. So we decided to put it on a third disc, and include even a very rare rehearsal from January 1969 in best sound available.

'Going Back To Houston' New Import CD:  The first release from TNT Records, a look at one of the most well-known concert tours Elvis ever did. Much has been written about "Tour Number 14" (May 30 – June 10, 1975) and on this brand new double-cd set you are going to hear both concerts Elvis did right in the middle of the tour. Concerts number 9 and 10 took place in Houston, Texas Houston, June 4 and June 5 1975. Although the reporters from the local papers "Houston Chronicle" (Dale Adamson) and "The Houston Post" (Bob Claypool) were not too happy with the way Elvis presented himself (you will see their original newspaper articles pictured in the 16-page booklet that comes with the cd) the excited crowd at the Hofheinz Pavilion in Houston still loved Elvis as they did since the 1950's. "Audionics" helped us to make a significant improvement in the sound of the two soundboard recordings. If you have missed the show´s first releases from more than 10 years ago or if you want to own them in better sound than before plus exactly the way they were recorded you should not miss this great new double cd!

'Closing Strong!' New Import CD/Vinyl: Out soon on the VV label is their fourth release entitled "Closing Strong!" featuring both the complete live soundboard recording from February 23th 1970 Las Vegas Closing show and the complete live audience recording from Houston on March 1, 1970 Afternoon Show .
The publicity states that.. the producers are aware of the fact that the closing night show, as one of the best Elvis Presley concerts ever, has been previously released in different imports. But here we give you the chance to listen to the show in its entirety FOR THE FIRST TIME in a double high valued collector vinyl set (EIN notes that this GREAT show has just been released by the FTD label see 'The On Stage Season' FTD In-Depth Review) . The second show, the Houston incredible March 1st afternoon show, presents Elvis at the pick of his possibility, although not new to CD collectors, will not have been heard in this quality before. This release is taken directly from a first generation tape and has been professionally remastered to a high standard producing an excellent audio quality, The sound quality is far superior to the previous released audience recordings.

This is an Audience Recording so be sure to ask your local dealer for samples! Elvis at Houston is pure dynamite, delivering a great performance that compares with the Closing night in terms of quality, giving to this release the status of “UNIQUE”.
Here you can hear the complete opening night. Houston was three days later only from the end of the Vegas season, for Elvis the very first opportunity to face a real audience from his comeback to live scenes. The result six supernatural shows with record attendance set in the Saturday evening show…. the rest his history, Here you can hear the complete March 01 afternoon show. Elvis performed accompanied from the band only a solid and rough show singing the best of the previous Las Vegas Season, in spite the short show ( about 44 minutes) and the bad acoustic with this show as Houston Chronicle review suggest "Elvis Brings Down The House At The Dome" can be reasonably to be included in one of best shows ever!!!

'Echoes Of Aloha' New Import CD: Audionics will release their 5th CD of this year early December. It is a kind of sequel to "ALOHA JERRY” CD (Audionics 2013-01-2) - once again dedicated to the eighth Las Vegas season - February 13th, 1973 dinner show.
These recordings were captured almost a month to the day of the ”Aloha From Hawaii” satellite broadcast, and it’s inevitable to make some comparisons. It’s been said that Elvis was depressed about having to return to Las Vegas again following the huge success of the broadcast, but this newly discovered recording does not bear that out at all.
Elvis sounds more relaxed and more at ease on this recording, and there is an intimacy present on this recording that is missing from ”Aloha”. It’s interesting to note that many of the songs that he performed during the satellite show are missing here. In fact, the layout of the show is somewhat reminiscent of the structure of the Las Vegas shows in August 1970, with a strong mix of recent material and Elvis classics.
All recordings presented on this CD are previously unreleased. The
February 13th, 1973 dinner show is completely new even to die-hard Elvis fans. It was never in circulation and it is taken from an original ”booth recording, ” made from a booth close to the stage and PA speakers. It is remarkably superior to usual audience tapes and soundwise fully comparable with our "Aloha, Jerry” (Audionics 2013-01-2), February 23, 1973 Closing Night.
As a bonus, more of soundboard tracks from the Dinner Show of February 10th, 1973 are included.
This release is presented in deluxe digipack with live and candid photos taken during January / February ’73 Vegas season and with appropriate liner notes.

'The On Stage Season' FTD Review: After their excellent "On Stage" multi-track Classic album, FTD now continues their look at this excellent season with the first official release of Elvis' 1970 Opening and Closing night performances.
"If I appear a little shaky that's because I'm a little shaky!" - Elvis, Las Vegas Jan 26th 1970.
On Opening Night Elvis introduced ten "brand new" songs to his Vegas setlist and what a treat it is to hear these for the first time live.
‘King Elvis Rules Vegas Again’ - As Elvis stood with his arms outstretched and head bowed in thanks, the curtain slowly fell and we were swept up with the excitement of the crowd which was at its peak. ... with every song, Elvis gave the audience exactly what they had come for: a chance to see and experience a living legend. Elvis a habit-forming' drug that does you good! - Journalist Ann Moses
EIN's Piers Beagley checks out this new release and decides whether it is worth buying these often bootlegged concerts one more time...

'Living From Day To Day, Chasing A Dream' New Import CD: Straight Arrow has announced a new 2CD release featuring both the Dinner and Midnight Shows February 22, 1973 in Las Vegas. In addition there’s included parts of the Dinner Show on February 21.
The February 22, 1973 D/S and M/S are taken directly from original "booth recording tapes". This kind of recordings was made from a "booth" or table placed at the edge of the stage, close to PA speakers, by someone who was a part of the organization, or who was related to someone inside the Elvis circle. Unlike standard audience recordings, where the recorder had to be hidden in a purse, under the table or under the clothes, often muffling the sound, booth recordings were made by someone who was known by Elvis’ security force, and consequently did not have to worry about concealing the recorder / microphone. The sound quality of such tapes is noticeably superior compared to the typical audience recording.
For the February 22, 1973 recordings, a BASF Chromdioxide hifi Compact Cassette was used. The dinner show was recorded on the A-side and the Midnight show on the B-side. The February 22, 1973 D/S is previously unreleased. There is a bad sounding version taken from a different source tape in circulation, wrongly dated as the February 23, 1973 Dinner show.
The February 22, 1973 M/S was released (by the 'Showroom' label, 'Back In The Desert' CD, 2012) from an inferior audience recorded source. This CD has nothing to do with Straight Arrow’s 'booth tape' version. Unfortunately, the person who recorded Feb. 22, 1973 M/S stopped his recorder during Jackie Kahane‘s pre-program and switched it on only near the end of 'C. C. Rider'. Instead of splicing the 'booth tape' with the substandard audience recorded version of the same show, we decided to use another booth tape from our vaults – the February 21, 1973 Dinner Show (recorded by same person as the Feb. 22 shows) to fill the missing part. This booth tape, although of very good sound quality, was badly damaged after the song 'Suspicious Minds' (impossible to repair) and is thus not suitable for individual release. We have decided to add all usable part as a bonus for both discs, with no edits. Note: only 'What Now My Love' was previously available as a bonus track on our 'You Don't Have To Say You Love Me' CD (2010).
The sound was transferred using standard 24-bit processing and professional Tascam equipment. Every second was digitally restored to achieve optimal listening pleasure. We hope you enjoy the results. Digitally remastered in November 2013.
