Not only that but it has now been expanded to an amazing 400 pages with a lot of unreleased material from Elvis Files' vaults!

DVD 'SOLD OUT Vol 11': The publicity states.. The spring of ’75 was a good period for Elvis. He was performing with renewed energy and vigor, and his joy for performing made these shows very memorable. He was truly back again, and Sold Out volume 11 takes you back to those dynamite shows. This is some of the most fun & enjoyable 8mm performance footage we have of Elvis on stage in the 70s. Girlfriend Mindi Miller was there and exclusively for Pyramid, she wrote a detailed account about life on the road with Elvis, with many fresh details.
As always, we’ve also included plenty of unreleased film from other significant tours. There’s the raw sexuality of the November ’71 tour, the professionalism of the spring ’73 tours (lovely close-ups of EP in his Red Flower suit), the power and energy of the June ’74 shows, and at the other end of the spectrum, a man in trouble during the October ’74 tour.
We’ve also included plenty of private footage of Elvis arriving at hotels, venues, etc. What you are getting on this release is the REAL Elvis Presley. Whether it is the rough energy of “I Got A Woman” from the November ’71 tour, or the majesty of “You’ll Never Walk Alone”, with Elvis at the piano in July ’75, singing as if his life depends on it. And there’s plenty of rare moments too, such as him improvising “Good Time Charlie’s Got The Blues”. UPDATE - Four new "Australian" Elvis books: As a result of our news item on Monday, Elvis author-researcher, Bob Hayden, has “sold out” of his three-volumes Elvis Presley Australian 45RPM Record Label Scans in Catalogue Order and Elvis Presley Australian 45RPM Picture Cover releases. A second printing of the four books has been ordered and Bob is taking orders this week (only). Bob is also having a “revised and expanded” edition printed of his full colour book, Elvis Presley Australian Sheet Music Book (it contains more than 200 sheet music releases).
About the Elvis Presley Australian 45RPM Record Label Scans in Catalogue Order trilogy, the bibliographic resource, Elvis in Print: The Definitive Reference and Price Guide, commented:
... Colorful trilogy showcasing the labels (A and B sides) for Elvis’ Australian 45RPM vinyl releases. Includes several paper sleeve illustrations and labels of the various Preview/Not For Sale 45RPM records. Initial chapters provide important information about label pressings, markings, trade details, writing styles used, RCA logo sizes, label inner rings and centre marks. The only thing missing are dates for each release. Impressive to see how many variations there were for individual releases. For example, Heartbreak Hotel/I Was The One, had 21 variations/releases.
As EIN noted in our earlier news item, these books will appeal to Elvis bibliophiles and researchers.

Australian 'Parkes Elvis Festival' Tickets On sale: Meanwhile downunder, the Australian 'Parkes Elvis Festival' is normally held in January, coinciding with Elvis Presley's birthday.
However due to COVID restrictions the 2022 Festival will now be held from 20-24 April 2022.
Now in its 29th year, the Festival continues to grow with more than 200 events across five fabulous, fun-filled days.
US Elvis tribute sensation Taylor Rodriguez will wow audiences as part of the Feature Concert Series proudly sponsored by Pacific National.

Tupelo Welcomes back International travellers: The last time George Barlow (pictured) visited Tupelo and the Elvis Birthplace & Museum was about three years ago, but on Wednesday morning, he was back in one of his favorite destinations. "It's great to be back," said Barlow of Wales, who joined 15 others from the UK in spending the day in Tupelo.
"The times we've been here, the people have been so friendly. It's great to come back again," he said. Barlow has been to Tupelo and the Birthplace eight previous times.
The group was put together by David Wade, who has been bringing tour groups over from the UK and Europe for 49 years through his company, Strictly Elvis UK. The last group he brought to Tupelo was January 2020, since then the COVID-19 pandemic and border closures has halted any trips.
President Biden announced the borders would open in November and Wade was able to get a small group together that still wanted to come. "We moved it to Thanksgiving because we don't celebrate it in the UK, and we thought it would be novel for Brits to see what Thanksgiving is all about," he said.

The group from UK was actually the second group of international travelers to visit Tupelo this week. A group of German tourists arrived Monday.
"We've had a few couples the last couple of weeks, but that was the first large group," said Elvis Presley Birthplace & Museum retiring director Dick Guyton.
"David (Wade) has brought more international visitors to Tupelo than any other company in the world," said Neal McCoy, executive director of the Tupelo Convention & Visitors Bureau. "He stays longer than any other tour group, and he has personal relationships throughout the community ... that's what's sustained his business."

Nick Cave; ‘What does Elvis mean to me’': Before the new Baz Luhrmann movie the last major cinema Elvis biopic was the posthumous release 'This Is Elvis'. Released in 1981, four years after his death, it presented a neat encapsulation of Elvis' life story using genuine footage and re-enactments. To most fans it was pretty emotional trip. Recently one fan, Australian musician Nick Cave revealed how watching ‘This Is Elvis’ truly upset him (via his fan blog The Red Hand Files). As often Nick Cave writes about the transformative power of music, and here writes specifically about how it relates to Presley near the end of his life.
Cave explains in 'What does Elvis mean to me?'
.. “In 1981, I saw the movie This Is Elvis. I had always been an Elvis fan, with a special love for the songs he made in the seventies – Suspicious Minds, In the Ghetto, Kentucky Rain, Always on My Mind – and had a particular obsession with the gospel album, How Great Thou Art that he recorded in the mid sixties. The last ten minutes of 'This Is Elvis' changed my ideas on performance forever.
In the final minutes of the film, we see Elvis, on stage in Las Vegas, sing the famous so-called ‘Laughing Version’ of 'Are You Lonesome Tonight?'

The camera begins with a long shot and does a slow zoom in on Elvis’s face. Elvis is stoned and overweight and by the time he performs the disastrous central monologue, we can see the pure anguish of his performance, the drugged and mortified eyes, the terrible aloneness, the horror of the moment – his vast soul crucified on the cross of his own body as he blunders through the words. It is one of the most traumatic pieces of footage I have ever seen. This is followed by the medley, An American Trilogy. Elvis dies and as the world media reports his death, we hear him sing Dixie over shots of his funeral procession. We see the motorcade, the weeping crowds, the coffin, and the flowers, as the film returns to the Vegas concert and Elvis sings the eternally beautiful "All My Trials.”
To me it is immeasurably moving, Elvis’s head bowed, his extraordinary voice steeped in sorrow – then the band rises, he lifts his head and sings The Battle Hymn of the Republic and Elvis is resurrected, triumphant. It is pure religion and as powerful as anything I have ever seen. |

The final shot of him, in slow motion, arms outstretched, the angel wings of his silver cape flung wide, shows his exultant ascent into heaven.
As I walked from the cinema, I was left with these three images – Elvis’s mortified, tear-streaked face; his head hung in sorrowful acceptance; and his caped arms outstretched in triumph. These are the stages of Christ’s passage upon the cross, the anguish, the sufferance and the resurrection, a journey which welcomes us all, in time.
Elvis continued performing until the end. In my eyes, he was some kind of angel; both terribly and awfully human yet divine in his meteoric reach that touched so many hearts. He was fallible and God-like at the same time. Elvis crucified himself on stage in Vegas, at the supper show and the late show, hundreds and hundreds of times. |

His latter years on Earth were as sad and lonely as any can be, but his Vegas performances were epic triumphs of human transcendence, where the angels looked down on one who had fallen so far, then looked up to where he ascended."

BillBoard 'Greatest of All Time Hot 100 Artists': Billboard music magazine has published their updated 'Greatest of All Time Hot 100 Artists'.
These rankings are based on weekly performance on the 'Hot 100' from its start on August 1958 to November 6, 2021.
Elvis Presley fans must realise that Elvis' key record-breaking initial chart years of 1956-July 1958 are not included.
The Top Ten are the same as in 2018 but now with Canadian rapper Drake hot on their heels at #11.

Released as a 2-CD 5” digi-pak, this set features Elvis' two shows: Curtis Hixon Convention Center, Tampa, April 26, 1975 (2:30 PM) and Omni Coliseum, Atlanta, May 2, 1975 (8:30 PM)
Both soundboards are incomplete with both concerts starting after 'I Got A Woman' with Elvis' third song 'Love Me'...
EIN Note: in 2017 FTD released 'Elvis In Altanta' two of his three 1975 shows that he performed in this tour. At the time we noted that the audio mix left a little to be desired "The sound quality is what we expect from this tour with VERY prominent Piano and Voices but with everything else - drums, guitar, orchestra - way in the
background. The benefit is you can easily hear Elvis" but we also noted "There is no doubt that he was well loved by his adoring audiences in Atlanta. The Omni ‘Opening Night’ captures a great crowd reaction and Elvis truly enjoying himself on stage. Worth playing several times." lets hope his final Omni performance is as good.

"Elvis: Like A Black Tornado - Live 1971" in Stereo: The UK Memphis Recording Service label has announced a new re-created "Stereo" live release that should be out January 28, 2022.
Following on from the MRS sensational brand new 'September 1970' stereo release, this concert is previously released and has been out multiple times both on bootleg and on FTD.
It is of course a great show from 1971 and has never had mainstream release.
With soundboards seemingly in the EU 'Public Domain' after 50 years - perhaps because they are manipulated Stereo - we could be seeing more of these.
'Elvis Presley: Like A Black Tornado - Live At Boston Garden 1971' will be in similar 40-page packaging as recent MRS releases.
It will certainly be a nice treat for fans who have never been able to buy the concert previously.

'Colonel Parker - Hero or Heel' New Book: With Baz Luhrmann's new ELVIS biopic being released next year and focussing on Elvis' relationship with Col Parker his manager, UK Fan Club President Todd Slaughter has announced the release of his new book, 'Colonel Parker - Hero or Heel'. Out April 2022.
The subtitle 'Godverdomme' is Dutch for 'God-damn'!
As Elvis fan-club President Todd Slaughter frequently corresponded with Col Parker, and of course it would be Parker who helped arrange the tickets for Elvis' concerts as well as the chance for Todd Slaughter to actually meet with Elvis.
Slaughter's book will no doubt suggest that, despite his minor faults, Col Parker was a hero.
Others closer to Elvis and Parker might say otherwise...
Red West, "I'd like to know who says he's the greatest manager. It couldn't have been anybody that was around Elvis."
Marty Lacker, "In my opinion Parker never was concerned about Elvis' well being and his bullshit after Elvis died was to always say "he only did what Elvis wanted him to do".
Elvis should have gotten rid of him around 1962... I blame Parker's actions for a big part of Elvis relying on pills to escape his mental well-being."

Quentin Tarantino And Elvis: Director Quentin Tarantino wrote the movie masterpiece 'True Romance' - released in 1993. Clarence Worley (Christian Slater), a lonely pop culture geek, is led into daring territory under the spiritual guidance of his hero: Elvis Presley (played by Val Kilmer). The King appears as an extension of his fevered mind and advises: “Well, can you live with it? That son of a bitch walking around breathing the same air as you. Getting away with it every day… Well, I’d kill him. Shoot him in the face. Put him down like a dog.”
And thereafter a chaotic exploration of vengeance and love unfurls.
Directed by Tony Scott the film offers up perhaps the most defining paradigm of the Pulp Fiction auteur. The thrill-ride unspools like Tarantino’s very own |

fantasy with Clarence Worley sharing many of the same passions as the man himself, most notably an obsession with ‘The King of Rock and Roll’.
A year later Tarantino would write 'Pulp Fiction' which originally included a scene discussing "There are only two kinds of people in the world, Beatles people and Elvis people. Now Beatles people can like Elvis and Elvis people can like the Beatles, but nobody likes them both equally. Somewhere you have to make a choice. And that choice, tells you who you are.” (the scene was later deleted).
Tarantino's love of Elvis is so profound that he once even appeared as an impersonator in a stupefyingly baffling end to a Golden Girls episode. As it happens, this appearance even helped him to get his career off the ground. “Before I did Reservoir Dogs, I had a very unsuccessful acting career,” Tarantino once said. “One of the jobs I did get — and not because I did a wonderful audition but simply because they sent my picture in and they said, ‘He’s got it’ — was for an Elvis impersonator on The Golden Girls.”
In short, it is clear that his love for ‘The King’ is very real, but, as ever with Tarantino, it isn’t quite a straightforward devotion. As he said when championing Elvis’ 1976 compilation record 'The Sun Sessions', “This has been a hugely important album to me. I was always a big rockabilly fan and a big Elvis fan, and to me, this album is the purest expression of Elvis there was. Sure, there are better individual songs—but no one collection ever touched the Sun Sessions album.”

During this prime period, Elvis became the progenitor of rock ‘n’ roll and pop culture as we know it. He shared a kinship with Tarantino’s daring attitude and thrust liberation into the mainstream media.
However, thereafter Tarantino felt that the star became increasingly kitsch and commercial. He added: “When I was young, I used to think Elvis was the voice of truth. I don’t know what that means, but his voice…shit man, it sounded so fucking pure.
If you grew up loving Elvis, this is it. Forget the Vegas period: if you really love Elvis, you’re ashamed of that man in Vegas. You feel like he let you down. The hillbilly cat never let you down!”

'The Making of Jailhouse Rock' New FTD Deluxe Set: Following on from FTD / David English's excellent 'The Making of Viva Las Vegas' comes another Elvis movie in-depth exploration with the December 2021 publication of 'The Making of Jailhouse Rock'.
FTD's David English and Pål Granlund present the in-depth backstory on how the MGM movie 'Jailhouse Rock' starring Elvis Presley and Judy Tyler was made.

Roy Turner, new Executive Director Elvis Presley Memorial Foundation: Recently EIN noted the Dick Guyton's retirement on January 8th 2022 as Executive Director Elvis Presley Memorial Foundation.
The great news is that EIN's good friend Roy Turner, a Tupelo native, has been announced as the new Executive Director. (photo right)
Elvis Presley Memorial Foundation Chairman Henry Dodge said, "Roy Turner's unique combination of local experience and 40 years of bringing the Elvis story to the world make him invaluable in this role, and his nearly 50 years of business experience as he rose to top management at Sunshine Mills make him even more qualified in his leadership role."
Roy Turner added, "I have contributed my time and research to bring the story of Elvis to the world with specific focus on his Tupelo roots."
An author, he wrote "Tupelo's Own Elvis Presley" and was key to the writing of "Elvis and Gladys" by Elaine Dundy to whom she dedicated the book |

for his exceptional work. In Turner's honor, Mrs. Dundy established a charitable trust through the CREATE Foundation to benefit the Tupelo community. (see Elaine Dundy Interview here)
In 2006, Turner with Jim Palmer, as executive directors and producers of the film "Homecoming: Tupelo Welcomes Elvis," premiered the film at the Tupelo Elvis Festival on the 50th anniversary of Elvis' 1956 homecoming performance at the Mississippi-Alabama Fair and Dairy Show.
They later sold the concept of the show to the A&E Biography Channel. Turner and Palmer served as co-producers of "Elvis - Return to Tupelo" which was the title of the refilming of Turner's "Homecoming" work.
Turner has continued to be active in the production and assistance to 10 different films and documentaries in addition to participating in talk shows and interviews as far away as Australia.

Bruce Springsteen endorses the MRS label: The legendary Bruce Springsteen has recently been doing multiple "zoom" interviews from his home to promote various new releases - including his new book with ex-President Barack Obama 'Renegades: Born in the USA'.
In a recent discussion on "Bruce Springsteen - The Making of The Legendary 1979 No Nukes Concerts" keen Elvis fans have noticed that, in a strange twist of fate, the legendary Bruce Springsteen has endorsed the UK MRS Elvis label.
On his lounge room table Springsteen has a copy of "The BeatAge" a pictorial history of early Beatles and also the "ELVIS: Studio Sessions ‘56 – The Complete Recordings" Memphis Recording Service 172-page book/cd set.

'ELVIS: The Searcher' director Thom Zimny is present at the discussion since he has also worked with Bruce Springsteen.

First ‘ELVIS’ Movie Teaser: Australian director Baz Luhrmann is taking care of business.
The filmmaker shared a teaser trailer for his upcoming Elvis Presley biopic starring Austin Butler as the iconic musician.
The brief video which Luhrmann shared via Instagram included a shot of Butler from behind as a young Elvis and other shots of the singer walking backstage in his recognizable performance wear.
The video ended with the letters TCB and the date June 24, 2022.
Baz Luhrmann noted, "Made a little something to let you good people know we are taking care of business on June 24, 2022."
The ELVIS biopic was originally supposed to release on June 3rd, 2022 but thanks to Luhrmann's tweet it's been confirmed the film has been pushed back to June 24th, 2022. Luhrmann's latest film will be released only in theaters and not in a hybrid fashion.
Warner Brothers has been trying to move away from their previous pandemic distribution plan, which saw film released simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max.

Elton John says Elvis helped him get sober: The UK Tabloids are stirring up the Elvis stories once again.
This week The Express noted that... Presley died on August 16, 1977, aged just 42-years-old. In the final few years of his life, the King of Rock and Roll let himself go. Not only did the star gain a lot of weight, but he was also reportedly indulging in alcohol and drugs. (see EIN correction below)
The star’s cause of death was determined as a cardiac arrest after “fourteen” different kinds of drugs were found in the star’s body.
In 1976, while he was in this deteriorating state, he met Sir Elton John.
At the time, Elton was 29-years-old and had admitted to drinking a lot and using drugs. The singer was endlessly excited to meet Elvis for the first time but when it actually happened it didn’t go as he expected.
On the Oprah Winfrey Show in 1997, Elton confessed, “Elvis, I saw him in Washington, bless his heart,– and I’m a huge Elvis fan. It was so sad because he’d turned into this big man with no eyes – they’d sunken into the back of his head. It was pathetic.”
Elton went on to say the similarities between himself and Elvis at the end of his days were too close for comfort.
He continued: “In the end, there are pictures of me… when I look at them I think, oh my god: You turned into Elvis! You shut your door, you gained weight, you did this, you did that, and you didn’t care how you were. It’s very easy to do that.”
Elton confessed that after seeing Elvis in the state he was in, he decided he “didn’t want to end up like that. I knew |

he would be dead in a year if he carried on like that – and he was.”
Unfortunately, a year later, Elvis was found dead in his home at Graceland.
EIN NOTE: Elvis did not drink alcohol and his drug habit was prescribed by Doctors who should have known better. Similarly, his manager Col Parker did nothing to help.
While the article suggests that Elton John seeing Elvis in 1976 helped him get sober, in fact the truth is that John continued with his severe addiction to drugs and alcohol until he was in his early 40s.
It wasn't until July 1990 that he checked in to a Chicago hospital to solve his additions issues.
So it doesn't seem that seeing Elvis in a bad way in 1976 taught him a proper lesson at the time.

Someone recently posted this photo that I had never seen before of me in the audience sitting with Hawaii 5.O’s Jack Lord!
Elvis and I were only 6 months into our 4 1/2 year romance.
Yes, after the first year he began to have short lived “dalliances“ but they were never anything more than that.
Facts: I always knew where his heart was. I was his only live in girlfriend for those years. We shared incredibly intimate times together including his hospital stays.
I was at every Vegas engagement, every tour, every holiday, every important event of his during those years.
That defines a real girlfriend - Not someone who has an occasional rendezvous.

Dick Guyton to retire as executive director of Elvis Presley Memorial Foundation:
Dick Guyton announced that he will retire on January 8th, which would be Elvis’ 87th birthday.
Guyton has served as executive director of the Memorial Foundation and the Elvis Birthplace and Museum since 2002.
Guyton is 82 and says it’s time to step down and let someone else lead the number one tourist attraction in the state.
He noted, “The Visitor’s Bureau several years ago did a study on people coming into the city, motels, restaurants, gas pumps, and it estimated that the taxes we bring in, Elvis brings in, is about a million dollars in revenue a year for the city, so yeah, I think we have a big economic impact on the city".
More than one million guests have visited the Elvis Presley Birthplace and Museum since Guyton came on board in 2002.

Sadly, it never saw the light of day, and tracks from those sessions were scattered across cookie-cutter collections throughout the'70s.
'Elvis Back In Nashville' collects those recordings in one place, showcasing his stylistic range (gospel, carols, standards... you name it) and offering a glimpse of what might have been.
Despite being sold as a nostalgia act, Elvis was absolutely devoted to whatever he song he was singing. The author "Vince 8mm Elvis" notes,
"I’ve been researching for a book on the world of ELVIS 8mm film. I obviously have the films we know and love from DERANN, RED FOX, UNIVERSAL 8, VIACOM, KEN etc and am now looking to private collectors for the odd stuff that got past me or I have only read about!
I have been talking to many who were in the trade at the time and some great stories and behind the scenes facts have emerged. Flyers and adverts have also started to flood in.
As an Elvis fan and an 8mm fan I was always disappointed about the lack of info that was out there in the Elvis 8mm world.
All that we had was a list here and there and the same old pics.
We need it all in one place... All in One Book

'Sold Out volume 10' is something special… Ever since the inception of Pyramid, we’ve been inundated with requests to release a volume focusing on the final year. We all know that the last year was difficult for Elvis. And for those of us who love the man and his music, it’s still hard to see footage from some of those shows. But there were also those nights where he could pull it together and blow everybody away with the power and might of his voice: performances like “How Great Thou Art”, “Fairytale” and “Hurt” are a testament to that fact. “Sold Out volume 10” has plenty of those moments. And some truly great close-ups of the man giving his all on stage.
One of the advantages of footage from the final year is that it’s often more complete, and indeed one of the shows on this release even clocks in at over 54 minutes. And there are various cool concert rarities including “Funny How Time Slips Away” as the third song in the show, a solid “Until It’s Time For You To You”, a neat “Steamroller Blues”, a back-to-the-basics “That’s All Right Mama”, and more. There’s also plenty of light moments where he is in a playful mood, teasing Charlie and J.D., hiding behind Jerry, etc.

Graceland announces Holiday Season plans: EPE have announced their Winter Holiday Season plans.
Activities include the Traditional Christmas Lighting Ceremony, Special Tours and Holiday Themed Concerts by the Memphis Symphony Orchestra, Ultimate ETA Dean Z, and other holiday shows at the Soundstage including The Beach Boys.
This holiday season at Graceland will be filled with more festive events than ever to celebrate one of Elvis' favorite times of the year.

Angie will share stories of how Elvis spent the holidays around the mansion and show the holiday décor he handpicked and left up all the way through his birthday on January 8.
Graceland will be decorated for the holidays from November 18 through January 9, 2022. Visitors during this time will be able to enjoy Elvis' holiday decorating traditions throughout the grounds of his home, Graceland Mansion. Exhibition 'Elvis: Direct from Graceland' for Victoria, Australia: The Australian southern state of Victoria has scored and unprecedented Elvis Presley exhibition for early 2022.
This major new biographical exhibition exploring one of the most iconic and influential figures of the 20th Century. Elvis: Direct from Graceland, will open on 19 March 2022 at Bendigo Art Gallery.
Exclusive to Bendigo, VIC, the exhibition will explore Elvis’ stellar career, his larger-than-life persona, lesser-known aspects of his early years, interests and personal life, and his radical sense of style.
In a major coup the Gallery has been able to secure unprecedented access to the Graceland archives to present a comprehensive exhibition on the world’s greatest and most popular artists.
Elvis: Direct from Graceland will feature around 300 authentic artifacts owned by Elvis direct from the icon’s Graceland home - including his military uniforms, his 1976 Red Bicentennial Custom Harley Davidson, and an amazing array of his famous jumpsuits to personal items like Lisa Marie’s baby clothes, Elvis’ first job application and the 1st grade crayon box he took to school. Visiting Australia for the first time ever is a bright red convertible 1960 MG from the movie Blue Hawaii, the only car from his films that Elvis actually owned and had brought to the Hawaii location to get around in his free time.

The exhibition will also feature many items that rarely travel beyond the Graceland gates, including Elvis’ wedding tuxedo and Priscilla’s wedding dress, two costumes from the acclaimed television performance known as the ‘68 Comeback Special, and garments from his eclectic home wardrobe.

Key periods in Elvis’ life and career will be covered, including his early years living in the ‘shotgun shack’ in Tupelo, Mississippi, his break-out Sun Studios hit, U.S. Army service, his time in Hollywood, his unforgettable ’68 Special performance, and the glamorous Vegas years.
The exhibition also moves beyond the familiar story of his musical and acting career to present his more private side, his devotion to his parents, his love of books, motorcycles, horses and karate and the haven he created in Graceland for his friends and family.

Priscilla pays tribute to Ronnie Tutt: Priscilla Presley also recently paid tribute to drummer Ronnie Tutt, who died on October 16.
Ronnie Tutt was a longtime member of Elvis' TCB Band, which backed the King of Rock and Roll during the last decade of his life. Tutt, a prolific studio drummer who also performed with Billy Joel and Neil Diamond, was 83.
Priscilla posted on Instagram, "Rest In Peace my friend. Your sweet soul and great talent captured us all.
Elvis always bragged how you intuitively could keep up with his stage moves. Even when he tried to trick you...
My heart goes out to you Donna for your loss.
And to the TCB band members, James and Glenn.
You will be forever missed."
She included a recent photo she took with Tutt.
Tutt's wife Donna confirmed that he had died of natural causes at his home in Franklin, Tennessee, surrounded by his family.
He chose not to be hospitalized, as he knew doctors could do nothing more for his heart condition.
Donna said that "his body had had enough, he couldn't play another drum lick...."

“I’ll Take You Home Again Kathleen” New Promo Video: The new 50th Anniv release 'Elvis Back In Nashville' is out next month, Nov 12.
On May 20, 1971 in the early hours of the morning, having laid down a few tracks for his up-coming Gospel album, Elvis sat down at the piano on his own and trying to relive the emotion of singing alone in Graceland, Elvis sang three old favourites for his studio friends.
These were two by Ivory Joe Hunter 'It's Still Here' and 'I Will Be True' plus an old classic 'I’ll Take You Home Again Kathleen'.
Elvis singing alone playing piano in Studio B was a totally unique situation and was luckily recorded by RCA.

Ronnie Tutt has died Aged 83: Very sad news for all Elvis fans today, finding out that the incredible TCB Band drummer Ronnie Tutt has died aged 83.
Graceland posted a heartfelt tribute...
.."All of us at EPE were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Ronnie Tutt. In addition to being a legendary drummer, he was a good friend to many of us here at Graceland. We enjoyed each time he joined us here to celebrate Elvis Week, Elvis' Birthday and many other special occasions. Ronnie was an amazing ambassador to Elvis' legacy - sharing his memories of working with Elvis with fans - as well as bringing Elvis' music to arenas around the globe through later "Elvis in Concert" shows and performances.
Ronnie Tutt played drums for Elvis as part of the TCB Band from 1969 until 1977. He was part of the band put together by James Burton for Elvis' 1969 Las Vegas opening - and stayed with Elvis until his death in 1977.
Ronnie later toured with Neil Diamond's band. He also recorded and performed with the likes of Johnny Cash, Glen Campbell, Kenny Rogers, Elvis Costello, Stevie Nicks, Michael McDonald, among others.
Our hearts go out to Donna, his family, his fellow TCB Band members - and to his fans around the world.

- Ron Tutt was born in 1938 in Dallas, Texas and was considered a "Child Prodigy" by many as by the age of three he was already enrolled in voice and tap dance classes. He was soon playing violin in his school orchestra, then trumpet and finally playing drums in his final years at school.
He later studied music at North Texas University before moving to Los Angeles as a professional drummer.
Ronnie said, "The two greatest music influences on my life were Elvis Presley and Neil Diamond. Elvis for the flashy, explosive, slightly out of control, style of playing that he needed and Neil for wanting the opposite and a very disciplined drummer."
Ronnie Tutt was a true gentleman, a friend to all, and a delightful person to talk to.
He will be missed by all.

The James Burton and Friends show in Nashville, to our knowledge, was the last show that Ronnie played and it was truly an honor to have him give of his talents to the James Burton Foundation to give guitars to kids and vets. His playing on this show was INCREDIBLE. ⚡️TCB⚡️
Playing together over the years was so much fun, it was like a hand in a glove. We knew exactly how to play off each other.
You bet I will always miss him!!! 🥁🎸
The wonderful thing is that we know for sure Ronnie is in heaven with God and his family, Elvis and friends.
What a joy for his family to have this knowledge and we love all of them so much. 🙏✝️😇

Book Review 'From Elvis in Japan': David Ward's 'From Elvis in Japan: Elvis Presley Japanese LPs 1956-2018' is the a very detailed and visually attractive Elvis “discography”. It covers Elvis LP (vinyl) releases in Japan between 1956 and 2018, the e-book is full of interesting information about each release and stunning images of the LP covers and discs.
The discography contains information on 131 Elvis LPs released in the “land of the rising sun”, a complete song index, and “value add” sections such as How to Read Elvis’ Name in Japanese, Japanese Albums with US Artwork, and English Lyrics (the translations are often outrageously funny!).
Japan also pressed plenty of unique compilations such as 'Elvis Presley Special 24', 'Elvis on Screen', 'Elvis Presley The Complete Singles (11 LP box set)' and 'Elvis Presley By Request of Japanese Fans'.

Studies about social influence on boosting the uptake of flu vaccines suggest that talking about other people getting their shots might help to improve the uptake for Covid-19 vaccines, too. It need not only be social influencers– even examples from within a peer group can help to nudge people to get on board.

Baz Luhrmann Taking Care Of Business!: ELVIS movie director Baz Luhrmann has announced a weekly ELVIS DAY when he will share pictures to get fans involved in his upcoming biopic.
Luhrmann tweeted.. "Still taking care of business here... Thought we’d make Monday, ‘Elvis Day’, dropping you some favorite pics as we go through our journey."
Next summer his new ELVIS biopic will hit cinemas, charting the life and career of The King of Rock and Roll. But with less than a year to go we still haven’t had our first look at Austin Butler as Elvis or Tom Hanks as his manager Colonel Tom Parker, let alone a trailer.
The first set of pictures featured Elvis posing and performing back in the 1950s. The second set yesterday featured the comment, "To Understand The Elvis phenomenon you must first understand the Colonel".

Released as a 2-CD 5” digi-pak, this set features Elvis' two shows: Curtis Hixon Convention Center, Tampa, April 26, 1975 (2:30 PM) and Omni Coliseum, Atlanta, May 2, 1975 (8:30 PM)
Both soundboards are incomplete with both concerts starting after 'I Got A Woman' with Elvis' third song 'Love Me'...
EIN Note: in 2017 FTD released 'Elvis In Altanta' two of his three 1975 shows that he performed in this tour. At the time we noted that the audio mix left a little to be desired "The sound quality is what we expect from this tour with VERY prominent Piano and Voices but with everything else - drums, guitar, orchestra - way in the background. The benefit is you can easily hear Elvis" but we also noted "There is no doubt that he was well loved by his adoring audiences in Atlanta. The Omni ‘Opening Night’ captures a great crowd reaction and Elvis truly enjoying himself on stage. Worth playing several times." lets hope his final Omni performance is as good.

FTD Fire Down Below: The original September FTD release news we were expecting suddenly never happened. It seemed that something had gone wrong - and indeed we have the terrible news confirmed today that there has been a fire at the Denmark Impulse warehouse where all the FTD stock is stored.
FTD's Roger Semon has said that the fire was a few weeks ago and a lot
of older stock - "almost the entire FTD catalogue" according to some - has been destroyed.
The fire luckily did not go through the whole factory. Fingers crossed that some stock may be recovered.
EIN is not sure if this has affected release of the new FTD 'Making Of Jailhouse Rock' book from David English.
" .. It is with regret that due to another major fire at Impulse, FTD will be unable to distribute or supply any back catalogue items for the foreseeable future. It will be sometime before an in-depth assessment can be made regarding saleable product. We will obviously update as and when possible."

Change of Habit Blu-Ray release: Kino Lorber is releasing a Blu-ray edition of William A. Graham's Change of Habit (1969), starring Elvis Presley, Mary Tyler Moore, Barbara McNair, Edward Asner, and Jane Elliot.
The release is scheduled for release on October 19.
The company originally released the film on Blu-ray in Germany a year or so ago, however, the new release is for the (native) English speaking countries (English text cover).

'Elvis: Fort Worth, Texas 1974' FTD in-depth Review: This FTD double-pack features two concerts from Elvis’ third tour of 1974, both performances from Father's Day in Fort Worth, Texas, June 16 1974. Elvis performed four shows at the 14,000 seater Tarrant County
Convention Center in Fort Worth Texas. These were the first four shows
of Elvis' Tour #11 so he was ready to rock. Reviews included, "Elvis put on one sharp, uptown and professional show. Wrapped skintight or loosely white bellbottoms and waist-length jacket. Elvis had the show in the palm of his hand".

'Think Twice: Elvis in The Studio 1971': The forthcoming 'Back In Nashville' boxset is going to shine the spotlight on Elvis' 1971 sessions which have traditionally been ignored by the official label. In this fascinating and detailed article EIN contributor Shane Brown examines these all too easily dismissed Nashville sessions and discovers some real gems.
It’s very easy to look at the March, May and June 1971 recordings out of context. While the recordings are certainly not up to the standard of those from June 1970, it’s also true to say that Elvis was in a very different place personally by spring 1971.
In June 1970 Elvis was riding the crest of a wave with his recent successes but by January 1971 he was in the newspapers due to an ongoing paternity suit.
The Presley’s marriage was on the rocks and Elvis was having problems with his eyes.
However despite all of this there was something very interesting going on during the 1971 sessions.

There is something so tactile and visual about VINYL that not only does it feel more "genuine" but it also reminds me of when Elvis was alive and everything we listened to was on vinyl.
This year 2021 - while in CV19 lockdown - my most recently acquired vinyl were the three recent MRS VINYL releases and what fine and innovative albums they are.

'Selling Elvis in 2021' EIN Spotlight: One of the most common questions asked of EIN is "how do I sell my Elvis records?"
Sadly, the market for Elvis’ recorded material is a shadow of what it was in the decade following his death. The exceptions are high quality original Sun Studio singles and various obscure releases such as test pressings, demos and acetates.
The best time of the year to sell anything ELVIS related is, of course, now around "Elvis Week" in August.
In 2021, demand for Elvis records generally continues to diminish as the sheer volume of Elvis records pressed means most collectors already have what they want, older fans are passing away, and younger fans are not as interested in physical records.
Highlighting the situation, a recent edition of the excellent Vintage Rock magazine featured a fascinating article discussing how the market for 50s vinyl has dipped and which artists and recordings are maintaining buyer interest.

RCA/Legacy Commemorates 50th Anniversary of Elvis Presley’s Final Nashville Sessions with release of 'Elvis: Back In Nashville' on Friday, November 12
The 4 Disc Collection presents 82 pristine Studio Original Recordings, free of overdubs.
Like its predecessor 'From Elvis In Nashville' from last year, 'Elvis: Back In Nashville' is designed to showcase Elvis Presley and his core band as they sounded during the actual sessions without orchestral overdubs and vocal accompaniment. A key difference between Elvis’ 1970 and 1971 Nashville sessions is that many of the 1971 recordings included backing singers; therefore, Elvis: Back In Nashville offers a variety of song performances both with and without vocal augmentation.
Given the prolific output of great recordings created by Elvis during the fabled 1970 marathon sessions that may be heard on From Elvis In Nashville, RCA and the Elvis camp decided to stick with the winning combination of tight band, seasoned studio, well-chosen repertoire and relaxed spontaneous Elvis behind the microphone and record as much material as possible over a short period of time. |

With Elvis’ upcoming concert activities increasing, future studio time would be limited and so the goal of these sessions was to generate perhaps a year’s worth of new songs. RCA and the Colonel let Elvis know they’d like a new Christmas album, a gospel album, a pop album, and “several new singles for summer and fall releases” and so, Elvis’ music coordinator/producer Felton Jarvis booked a whole week of all-night sessions starting March 15, 1971 and brought on the same band he’d used the year before.
Elvis Presley’s return in 1970 to recording in Nashville had been revelatory. Those sessions, on the heels of his Memphis recordings and a return to the stage, had done more than simply sustain a comeback. They also introduced Elvis to a great new rhythm section and gifted Elvis with a great new sound. Bassist Norbert Putnam, drummer Jerry Carrigan, and pianist David Briggs had helped transform country music rhythms in the sixties after they transplanted their R&B-indebted style from F. A. M. E. studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, to Nashville session work. When producer Felton Jarvis teamed Elvis with the Muscle Shoals boys, along with session guitarist Chip Young, jack of all musical trades Charlie McCoy, and Presley’s bandleader James Burton, they together created the belatedly acclaimed Elvis Country in the process providing Elvis with a country-soul template he’d trace often in the last years of his life. |
Music critic Dave Marsh once wrote that, even with his acclaim, “Elvis Presley was probably the most underrated singer of all.” Overdubs removed, what’s revealed on Elvis: Back In Nashville is some of the most compelling singing of Presley’s career.
Disc 1 features 18 tracks and includes The Country/Folk Sides (an unrealized Elvis project featuring songs by Ewan McColl, Gordon Lightfoot, Kris Kristofferson, Buffy Sainte-Marie, and Bob Dylan), The Piano Recordings (raw Elvis singing Ivory Joe Hunter with piano accompaniment) and The Pop Sides (classic pop compositions including “Padre,” “Fools Rush In Where Angels Fear To Tread,” “My Way,” “I’m Leavin'” and more).
Disc 2 features 25 tracks divided between The Religious Sides (classic and contemporary gospel) and The Christmas Sides (sacred and secular seasonal holiday music).
Disc 3 features 19 tracks and picks up on the country pop repertoire adding some rock ‘n’ roll with a variety of cuts including impromptu performances of “Johnny B. Goode” and “Lady Madonna,” an epic take on Bob Dylan’s “Don’t Think Twice, (It’s Alright)”, fresh interpretations of “Help Me Make It Through The Night,” “Early Morning Rain” and more.
Disc 4 features 20 tracks and includes The Religious Outtakes and The Christmas Outtakes

UPDATED- The collapse of the Elvis Bootleg Empire: Has Ernst won the war?’: Back in 1999 Ernst Jorgensen and Roger Semon convinced BMG to let them start the FTD collectors label in order to counteract the Elvis bootleg companies which had been selling unreleased material to fans since the very first vinyl bootleg 'Please Release Me' was issued back in 1970.
Of all the bootleg labels that have come and gone the 'Madison' label was one of the very few that always produced high-quality releases and which happened to start at the same time as FTD. The designs were top-notch and with detailed sleeve notes they easily competed with the legal Elvis releases.
In 2021 ‘Madison’ have returned with the new bootleg ‘A Legendary Performer Volume 9’ but all is not what was promised. The Elvis bootleg vaults are empty and FTD appears to have won the game.

"On Tour" 50th Anniversary - FTD vs Lorentzen release:
In the same way that the FTD 'TTWII' Collectors Edition had to include similar photos to Erik Lorentzen's 'TTWII' Summer Festival publication, a debate among Elvis collectors has already started regarding the two new 'On Tour' editions and which one to purchase.
Lorentzen promises the earlier publication this year, whereas FTD are still gathering documentation and unseen images for their 2022 release.
Trouble has also started as Lorentzen has stated about his book, "Unique in this 1200 page edition is that for the first time the complete and very extensive information of all shows and sessions" yet now Ernst Jørgensen has posted that his personal session notes are being used without permission.

It will be difficult for fans to decide which to buy, or both, especially with the extra wait for the David English / Pål Granlund 50th Anniversary FTD 'On Tour' project.
Ernst Jørgensen posted the following statement..
"It has come to my attention that some of my personal recording notes are being used in Erik Lorentzen’s forthcoming Elvis On Tour book.
This is disappointing; as Erik has been notified that this information is private and confidential, and prior to publication permission is required, which has not been granted.
Pål, David and myself are working on an 'Elvis On Tour' FTD release for 2022, this information will be included with this release."
We do however also know that FTD will be including audio cds with their publication, the audio content however has not been finalised as yet.

(Book Review) Elvis November 1956: As fans, we do not always realize that what we think we know about Elvis’ life, happened in short periods of time. Paul Belard’s visual biography series illustrates how hectic Elvis’ life and rise to fame was.
The latest release in Paul Belard’s series of photobooks, covering just one month in 1956, highlights just how much happened.
It was a busy time, Elvis spent time with his girlfriend Natalie Wood and buddy, Nick Adams on his new Harley Davidson. He did a small tour in the south with Scotty, DJ and Bill making stops in Toledo, Cleveland, Troy and Louisville, Kentucky. And managed to squeeze in a 10-day holiday with Bitsy Mott, Gene Smith and Richard Dougher to Las Vegas, returning to the New Frontier Hotel.
EIN’s Nigel Patterson and Elvis Day By Day’s Kees Mouwen joined forces to provide a detailed review of the narrative, visual and archival highlights from what was a a very busy month for the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll.

'Elvis UK' Book Re-Issue: Following the successful release of 'Elvis UK3 The Ultimate Guide To Elvis Presley’s British CD Releases 1983-2005' as a Flip book in February 2021, co-authors John Townson and Gordon Minto are pleased to announce that their original book – the long out-of-print Elvis UK – published in 1987 – is now to be made available using the same digital technology but with an additional 60 pages of ‘bonus material’.
Our prime reason for making this book available is due to the constant requests for hard copies as it went out of print in the late 1980s. Unfortunately, a physical reprint was not an option, owing to extremely high production costs – just as it wasn’t for Elvis UK3. However, unlike the latter project - which we wanted to be able to update when required – 'Elvis UK' will be available as a download. The document will not be held on a digital platform and accessed via the internet, but will be available on the buyer’s own device.
Importantly though, the original book appears exactly as it was in 1987 as it has not been possible to make any textl amendments as the book did not exist in a digital form.

Book Review: 'Elvis The King of the Rings Vol 1': Author-researcher Paul Belard has released the latest installment in his ongoing Elvis day-by-day biography series, visually (and narratively) documenting Elvis Presley's life and times. Unlike previous volumes, this book doesn’t cover a specific period of time, it covers a “shiny” part of our man's life, his love for big and glittery jewelry, specifically rings.
Elvis liked expensive things: cars, motorcycles, clothes, and jewelry. His jewels befitted a king. He wore sumptuous pendants hung on heavy gold chains; huge lavish rings dripping of rubies, sapphires, lapis lazuli, and emeralds; bracelets of gold and precious gems.
The singer Robert Goulet described Elvis’ penchant for generosity: “I remember once we sat together backstage for two hours. And he was a charming, delightful man. And at one point I said, “That’s a beautiful ring you have there.” He said, “You like it?” I said, “It’s beautiful!” He took it off his hand and put it on mine. He gave me his ring.”
Belard's new book features 254 pages dedicated to Elvis’ love of rings.
The photos include close-ups of so much glorious "Bling" along with stories of Elvis wearing them on-stage and even where they ended up.

'Jay Thompson and Elvis Presley' Spotlight: In April 1956 Disc-jockey Jay Thompson, from Breckenridge radio station KSTB, interviewed a young Elvis Presley while he was touring through Texas on a string of one-night stands. In that 1956 interview Elvis interestingly revealed that he was previously training to be an electrician, that his first movie would be The Rainmaker and that he did not know Bill Black or Scotty Moore before their Sun session.
In 1982 Elvis fan Scott Wheeler befriended and interviewed Jay Thompson about the experience. Although Jay never actively participated in Elvis-related events or productions in later years he also never sought notoriety for the interview either. However we believe it's important that Jay Thompson be well remembered for his valuable contribution to the history of Elvis.

'Summer Festival 1970: The Rehearsals' In-Depth Review: MRS's new triple-CD set 'Summer Festival 1970: The Rehearsals' was released last month.
The CDs contain rehearsal highlights from one of the most memorable periods in Elvis’ career - his captivating performances at The International Hotel Las Vegas in the summer of 1970. Book Review - 'ELVIS UK3': Recently published 'ELVIS UK3' The Ultimate Guide to Elvis Presley's British CD Releases 1983-2005' by John Townson and Gordon Minto comprises 1400 pages with over a million words plus 4,000 plus illustrations.
This examination of Elvis’ British releases is an incredibly detailed narrative and visual record of his CD releases in the UK from 1983 to 2005.
The first Elvis CD, 'The Legend' (3CD), was released in the UK in December 1983. Reflecting the fledgling nature of the format, UK fans had to wait another 12 months until the release of not one, but three, Elvis albums, in December 1984. By that time, the flood gates for the CD medium were starting to strain.
As with the authors’ earlier two volumes on Elvis UK vinyl releases, the information in Elvis UK3 is exhaustive.
To say that Elvis UK3 was well-researched would be a serious understatement. There is so much information in this book that it is difficult to comprehensively review it all. While many collectors will be most interested in the technical details for each entry, the author’s narrative is excellent.

A 4CD collection presenting the definitive chronicle of Elvis' 1970 marathon sessions with the "Nashville Cats".
Recorded live in RCA's Studio B over the course of an epic five day run in June 1970 now, for the first time, the sessions are presented in pristine audio, newly mixed by acclaimed engineer Matt Ross-Spang without the added overdubs appearing on earlier releases.
Elvis’ 1970 Nashville session was very different from the previous Memphis sessions or even Elvis’ later sessions. Nashville was a real mix of Elvis recording RCA supplied demos along with one-take spontaneous favourites Elvis threw into the mix.

Arlo Guthrie teases fellow musician Pete Seeger about him being a core "Folkie" and exactly how Elvis' music fits into the whole equation.

'ELVIS In The 2010s' A Personal Review of the Past Decade: Rather like Elvis’s own career, each decade since Elvis’s death appears to have had a theme or identity of its own. Clearly the late 1970s were difficult for RCA as they struggled to find the right direction with which to take their posthumous releases, and so it was the 1980s that was the decade when the company slowly but surely learned how to look back at Elvis's legacy and start to make some sense of it.
The 1990s were when that reached a peak, with the decades boxed sets, and the Elvis in the 90s series, thus bringing virtually the whole catalogue back into print in a coherent way.
The 2000s were when errors of judgement at retail level started to occur (despite huge successes like Elv1s), but also when FTD came into its own and flourished.
And so what will we make of Elvis releases of the 2010s when we look back on them from the future?

'What was Elvis searching for?' EIN Spotlight: The question is raised – but never answered – in the title of HBO’s recent absorbing, imperfect documentary 'Elvis Presley: The Searcher'.
At the start it seems clear what the teenage Elvis was searching for – an escape from the oblivion of poverty in the American South. Yet his quest was cultural as well as financial.
Later Elvis read obsessively, seeking out such books as The Impersonal Life, Joseph Brenner’s guide to self-discovery and Kahil Gibran’s book of fables, The Prophet. In his copy of Gibran’s tome, Elvis jotted down the line: “A singer can sing his songs but he must have an ear to receive the song”.
So what exactly was Elvis searching for? In this fascinating EIN Spotlight respected author Paul Simpson takes a close look at this all important question which, for some reason, was basically ignored in the recent HBO documentary..

The VINYL Boom: Over 7.6 million vinyl LPs were sold in the USA during the first half of 2018, a 20% increase from the previous year, while in Australia vinyl sales increased by $3 million, the same increase of 20%. In the same period CD sales however dropped by 15%.
Elvis vinyl is still selling very nicely with ‘ELV1S: 30 #1 Hits’ recently in the UK Top ten VINYL charts.

... What is there to say about Elvis Presley that hasn’t already been said?
It may be 41 years since the icon died tragically at only 42 years old but his music continues to live on, and likely will forever. It’s actually mind-blowing to think that his music has survived for almost as long as he was alive. In 2002 Sony Music released a new greatest hits collection titled ELV1S: 30 #1 Hits, which dominated charts across the world and sold millions and millions of copies. 16 years on from its original release, ELV1S: 30 #1 Hits has been reissued on 2LP vinyl.
Taking inspiration from the album cover, the release has been pressed on gold vinyl making the whole package feel very special.
Presley was an incredibly prolific artist so getting this collection down to 31 tracks was no easy feat. It also includes the ALLC Junkie XL remix.
What was achieved with ELV1S: 30 #1 Hits though, is a

collection that gives you all the highlights you need from The King’s career to showcase the incredible impact he had on music. The album opens with Heartbreak Hotel and there isn’t a single filler track here.
It’s actually near impossible to pick out highlights across the 2LPs because every single one of these songs is a classic.
Of course no Elvis collection would be complete without Suspicious Minds and that track is near the end of the track listing on the final side.
The release features the artwork from the original 2002 release and it’s a beautiful, high-quality gatefold. I mentioned earlier about the gold vinyl but what I’ve not commented on yet is the sound. The CD version was a little patchy given that the songs were all recorded at different times. It’s not as noticeable on the vinyl release and the quality is crystal clear. The warm crackle of vinyl adds to the overall feel too.
ELV1S: 30 #1 Hits is a must-have release for any Elvis Presley fan. While he had plenty of great songs that aren’t featured here, this collection truly is the definitive one to own. There’s not a single bad song here and it’s lengthy enough to give you value for money. The whole vinyl package is fantastic and it looks as good as it sounds.
They don’t make artists like Elvis anymore and they probably never will again.

Mindi Miller Interview with EIN: Mindi Miller was a working actress when she met Elvis in early 1975. She was interested in karate (she performed all her own movie stunts), exploring spirituality and the Bible and so they had a lot in common.
Mindi Miller and Elvis bonded over their common interests and soon afterwards he asked her to go on tour with him in April 1975.
She stayed friends with Elvis through the years - along with members of the 'Memphis Mafia' - and attended his funeral.

'Marty Lacker: A Life Well-Lived' & Elvis at American Studio's Interview: It was with immense sadness that last month EIN had to report on the death of our great friend - and a true friend to Elvis - Marty Lacker. We will miss him dearly.
Marty is well-known as one of the key members of the Memphis Mafia and also co-Best Man at Elvis' wedding. He was known for both his honesty and being forthright with his opinions. He was the only member of the Memphis Mafia who still watched and commented on recent Elvis News. He had no issue with holding people to account (especially ones who would inflate their importance within Elvis' legacy) and would regularly ask EIN to add his comments or to correct any inaccuracy.
Elvis fans often ask about Marty Lacker's background, how he came to meet Elvis, as well as his involvement in the music industry outside of working for The King.

UPDATED - Paul Dowling EIN Interview Part Three: Paul Dowling is without doubt one of the major names in the Elvis World. He started collecting and selling Elvis vinyl over 40 years ago and has one of the world's largest Elvis Presley record collections. He started his "WorldWide Elvis" shop back in the seventies, way before the internet, where fans could get hold of rare Elvis records and memorabilia.
With such a fascination with Elvis, Dowling not only became a big name in the early years of Elvis bootlegs but later became friends with Ernst Jorgensen and helped RCA with various official releases.

Did Elvis Record 'Tiger Man' At Sun?: A question that has puzzled Elvis fans through the years is whether he actually recorded the song ‘Tiger Man’ during his years at SUN studios.
The basic question is why did Elvis refer to 'Tiger man' several times in concert as “The second song that I ever recorded, not too many people heard it”?
And if Elvis DID record it, then why hasn’t any reference to it at SUN or proof of its existence been found?
Elvis would first perform ‘Tiger Man’ in concert at his first 1969 Las Vegas International season and would continue playing it through the years – usually in a medley with Mystery Train - until his last performance at Saginaw on May 3 1977. He would sing it over 150 times on stage!
The thought that there might be an acetate or undiscovered tape of Elvis at SUN singing ‘Tiger Man’ is a mouth-watering concept - but is it an unlikely fantasy or strong possibility?
