Guide "Elvis" covers: Here are the latest
TV Guide covers featuring Elvis. Attached to the four
(4) covers of the May 8, 2005 newsstand issues of TV Guide
is a never-before-released version of "Young and Beautiful",
by Elvis with the Jordanaires. Apart from the four "newsstand"
covers there is also a bonus subscriber-only cover (which
does not include the mini-disc) - candid moment, 1956
tour (Elvis relaxing with a cup of Pepsi!). The mini-CDs
feature four different designs. Each is a different color
and has a different Elvis silhouette. Designs are randomly
affixed to each of the four different magazine covers.
This issue coincides with two prime-time specials |

on CBS: "Elvis by the Presleys", the 2-hour special that features
a collection of newly recorded interviews with his former wife,
Priscilla Beaulieu Presley, and their daughter, Lisa Marie Presley.
"Elvis", a four-hour miniseries on May 8, will tell
Presley's electrifying yet tumultuous story - from his humble
beginnings to his meteoric rise to fame. NB: The CD affixed
to the cover may be played only on CD players and computers
that have front loading trays. This CD cannot be played on any
car stereo or non-loading tray computer or home stereo. Loading
the CD onto a non-tray-loading device is likely to damage the

liquor decanters and more...: For $500, in boxes & in
excellent cond., many more Elvis collectibles available."
When asked how many Elvis things she has, Marie Wellman sighs
and says, "Oh, I don't know - too many." After 35 years of
piecing together Elvis' life one ticket stub, one charm bracelet
and one decorative plate at a time, Wellman, 52, and her husband
are selling their house in Tarpon Springs and moving into
a smaller one. She was 16 or 17 the first time she saw Elvis
in concert. "Any time he was anywhere near here, we'd go,"
she said. In the mid '70s she took her first husband with
her to a concert, where, she devilishly admits, she left him
in the crowd so she could sneak backstage. She was there just
long enough to see Elvis and grab his hand before his entourage
whisked him away. She went to Graceland in August 1977 after
Elvis' death. She remembers how her boss thought she was nuts
when she called to say she wouldn't be in for a few days.
But she had to be there, had to witness the spectacle. Had
to find a way to reconcile the loss. Had to say goodbye. Now
comes change in Wellman's life. So, out go the trinkets, baseball
cards, liquor decanters and limited-edition lithographs. But
she's keeping her record collection and her newspaper clippings.
The memories may need to be dusted off from time to time,
but they will never die. (News, Source:

Elvis
is coming (back?) to Newbern: Northview Drama Club presenting
play this Friday. There's an urban legend that at one time,
way back when, Elvis Presley made a stop in Newbern. Whether
or not it's true is up for debate. But, he is returning. Northview
Drama Club will present the play "Who Killed Elvis?" at 7
p.m. Friday in the Northview Middle School Little Theatre.
Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students. For more information,
call 627-3713. Written by Craig Sodaro, "Who Killed Elvis?"
takes place in 2002, the 25th anniversary of Elvis's death.
The setting is The Drop On Inn, a café and motel complex in
Butter Bluff, a small Southern town. With the café in financial
trouble and having to put two of her three daughters through
college, a mother decides to capitalize on the fact that Elvis
ate there in the 1950s and was waited on by her mother. To
help bring in the customers, they rename the café "Elvis Ate
Here" and hold an Elvis impersonation contest. But as the
contest begins, a murder -- of an Elvis impersonator -- is
committed and the mystery and comedy begins.

Miniseries
tries to dig into real Elvis: As a new Elvis Presley miniseries
arrives, two questions linger. Who was Presley, really? Was
he as great as some people say? Who was Colonel Tom Parker?
Was he as awful as many people say? Both questions ripple
through "Elvis," on CBS at 9-11 p.m. May 8 and 8-10 p.m. May
11. Clearly, the film loves Presley. It worked with his estate;
it uses his singing voice. CBS also airs the documentary,
"Elvis by the Presleys," at 8 to 10 p.m. May 13. The film
follows Presley from a penniless teen to his comeback concerts.
Jonathan Rhys-Meyers plays him as someone with dreams and
body at full-throttle. "He was in constant motion," Rhys-Meyers
says. "He was fidgety; he never stopped moving." Parker, Presley's
manager, is another matter. "He was an enigma," says Randy
Quaid, who plays him. He shaped rock history, making all the
big decisions. "Without Colonel Parker, Elvis would have never
been Elvis," Rhys-Meyers said. "He created the first real
rock star." Still, people didn't know him. "I sort of knew
he came from a carnival background," Quaid says. "I thought
he was from the South." He grew up in the Netherlands and
left as a young man. In the United States, he worked with
carnivals and country stars -- Gene Austin, Eddy Arnold, Hank
Snow. Then he met Presley and changed everything. His accent
mixed the South and the Dutch. For Quaid, who is from Houston,
half of that was a challenge. Rhys-Meyers had a bigger stretch.
He speaks with a rich Irish accent, far from Elvis turf. (News,

#1 Chart Predictions Here are the first predictions
for this week's UK singles chart according to Music Week.
Elvis Presley’s reissue campaign could end on a high note
this weekend, with early retail reports suggesting his
final RCA-released reissue, A Little Less Conversation,
is in the running for a number one placing, with a 40%
sales advantage over Tony Christie & Peter Kay’s (Is This
The Way To) Amarillo. The Comic Relief charity track has,
however, reclaimed the number one spot from early leaders
on more than one occasion in recent weeks, so the battle
for number one is likely to be a close-run fight at the
week’s end. Summary Singles 01 (NE) Elvis Vs. JXL - A
Little Less Converstion; 02 (01) Tony Christie ft. Peter
Kay - (Is This The Way To) Amarillo; 03 (NE) Snoop Dogg
ft. Justin Timberlake. (News, Source:

Did
Elvis visit Holland?: Did Elvis drive to Eindhoven, Holland,
to deliver a letter from the Colonel to his mother? Nobody
says it’s true, but rumours have been flying around ever since
his army days in 1958-1960. Sender of the letter was Tom Parker,
born Dries van Kuyck and raised in Breda, Holland. During
his army days, serving his country in Germany, Elvis supposedly
drove to Holland by request of Colonel Parker. The mere ‘rumour”
was enough to trigger a brand new documentary that premiered
on Dutch local television, “TV Brabant”, last weekend. In
the documentary, relatives of the Colonel talk about the now
famous manager, and the cameramen even found the house where
Elvis may have rang the doorbell. (News,

Elvis Presley's royal stature didn't end because of a change

Lisa
Presley's painful song about Johnny Ramone: LISA MARIE
PRESLEY struggles to sing new song WHEN YOU GO live because
she wrote it as pal JOHNNY RAMONE was dying. The rocker reveals
she penned the poignant song when she learned Ramone was fighting
for life in hospital while she was on a flight from Los Angeles
to New York. She says, "He made it out of the hospital, and
he lived for three more months; but it was a really hard song
to sing because I realised that it applied to him just as
much as it applied to everything else I was writing about."
But she relishes singing another new song, IDIOT: "That is
about somebody who I went through years of hell with before
I finally just went, 'You know what? I've just had it with
your a**. I'm going to shoot you at point blank, right between
the eyes, and nail you right where I see you.' "It's just

Goa
is all shook up with Elvis: The Elvis Presley craze is
making a comeback in Goa, a popular tourist destination in
western India. The American singer may have died in 1977 but
his popularity lives on as a barrage of Elvis clones try to
out-perform each other. He is possibly the most impersonated
rock‘n‘roll celebrity. Although it‘s nearly three decades
since he passed away, the spirit of Elvis Presley lives on
in the many performers who make great efforts to dress and
sing like him. In India‘s popular tourist resort of Goa, that
seems to be the newest attraction for holidaymakers. At restaurants
and nightclubs, a motley mix of chubby and middle-aged Elvis
Presley look-alikes belt out hits from the 1950s and 60s.

Digital
Elvis commercial unlikely..but a duet with Britney?: If
rock 'n' roll legend Elvis Presley shows up in any future
digital projects it will not likely be in a commercial, The
Los Angeles Times reports. Robert F.X. Sillerman, who recently
gained control of Presley's name, image and likeness, said
he doubted Presley would appear in a car commercial, the way
the late Steve McQueen recently did. Sillerman also said he
didn't think it would be a good idea to do with Presley what
was done with the late Conway Twitty recently, when bits of
Twitty's old records were manipulated through a computer program
to make it sound like he was singing a new song. I'm not sure
you're going to see Elvis in a commercial, Sillerman said.
With Elvis, less is more. George Klein, a pallbearer at Presley's
funeral who currently operates an Elvis station on Sirius
satellite radio, said he would welcome a new Elvis record.
I think it's strictly business and this is 2005, Klein said.
He's been dead 27 years, and you have to move on. Market what
you got. A duet with Britney Spears or something like that
would be great. (News/Sale of EPE, Source:

Elvis' high school graduation. Yet he is still young in

Comment
- UK Top 40 sales figures: Despite what a number of other
sites are suggesting, the inclusion of downloads is a sensible
industry initiative to fully reflect the most popular songs
as expressed by relevant consumer interest...it is not a conspiracy
to stop artists like Elvis from dominating the charts. The
reality is that "sales" of CDs have been generally
diminishing for many years (singles sales are now a fraction
of what they were even just five years ago) as consumers use
a mix of means to obtain and listen to their favorite artists
and songs. This is progress. (News/Commentary:

and create an atmosphere that implies that the man who changed
the definition of rock and roll forever is indeed in the building.
This stylish tour began in America in 1998 and has received
rave reviews from the harshest of critics. Elvis The Concert
is at 8 p.m. in the Mohegan Sun Arena. Tickets are $20 and
