Fake Elvis Shirt sells for $3,750: On Ebay recently was a "ELVIS PRESLEY owned and worn Suede Shirt from Colonel Parker" which sold for $3,750 after 22 bids. While no photos of Elvis accompanied the auction and surprisingly little information, there was a supposed "signed and dated letter from Colonel Parkers Office attesting to it authenticity."
Sadly it looks like this was yet another fake.
Col Parker's widow Loanne Parker notified Elvis Matters, "I saw the item on ElvisMatters web site regarding whether the Elvis shirt COA was actually signed by Colonel. IT WAS NOT! August 8, 1978 Colonel was in Las Vegas at the Las Vegas Hilton hotel. When there, he used the Hilton office stationery and I typed the letters. My initials (at that time "lm") were always at the bottom of the letters. The stationery used for that letter was Box 417 and |

at one time that was the PO box number for his office, but by 1978 it had been changed and 417 was no longer used. Most of all the style of this letter was not one Colonel would have used AND he did not sign his name that way on letters. That letter is not authentic. Loanne Parker"

Maybe EPE haven't got as many fans interested with their second Elvis Mosaic, but fans now have until this THURSDAY to upload their photos. Look closely and you'll find a few EIN members on the mosaic when it finally comes out.
A mural of this Fan Mosaic will hang at the same venue in Hawaii where Elvis performed his record-breaking concert four decades ago, and will also hang in Graceland for the entire duration of 2013 for you to check out the next time you visit!

Alfred Wertheimer's "The Kiss" Featured in New Book: The man who captured Elvis during his rise to stardom is currently featured in a new book dedicated to the most notable photographers of our time. In a new article titled "The Faces Behind the Lens," Alfred Wertheimer is seen with his famous photo "The Kiss."
According to the Daily Mail, photographer Tim Mantoani reveals the faces behind some of the most memorable photos of the last generation. Wertheimer's "The Kiss" portrays 21-year-old Elvis in a passionate kiss with a woman backstage at the Mosque Theater in Richmond, Virginia on June 30, 1956.
In this new coffee table book titled "Behind Photographs: Archiving Photographic Legends," Mantoani has compiled 153 portraits of the world's most famous photographers and their most iconic images.
"My hope is that this project will become a way for future generations to not only appreciate the photography of our time, but the photographers as well."

The second CD includes Audience Recordings from August 11 & 19, 1973 in excellent quality. The shows have been released before, but at the wrong speed and in a much inferior sound than you can hear them now.
EIN Note - previous releases have all had speeded up sound. This hopefully has now been fixed.

'I Love You Because' Lisa/Elvis New video NOW: Lisa Marie Presley premiered her new video 'I Love You Because' an emotional duet with her late father Elvis on CMT - but it was soon removed from YouTube by the Internet police.
The single 'I Love You Because' was out October 16th, and the full video was available on iTunes this weekend. Lisa Marie also announced she will hit the road for two weeks in November in support of her new album "Storm & Grace," starting November 1 in Tunica, Miss. and ending November 17 at Carnegie Hall in New York, NY.
The video was a personal project for Lisa Marie, in which she introduces her four children as the continuation of her father’s legacy.

Dallas girl who kissed Elvis in 1960 reveals story behind the photo:
Margaret Ann Hollis was 5 years old when she kissed The King. She was wearing patent leather shoes and a crisp white dress covering layers of petticoats. Silk flowers adorned her tightly curled hair, done just for the chance to see Elvis as he passed through Dallas in 1960.
On the back of a train car, Presley took her into his arms, and she planted a kiss on his cheek.
A Dallas Morning News photographer captured the moment — and then it was all but forgotten.
Presley had just ended a two-year stint in the Army when he took the two-day train trip from Memphis, Tenn., to Los Angeles to film GI Blues. In Dallas, Elvis made a 20-minute stop at Union Station.
After several unsuccessful recent calls to track down Margaret Hollis, it took an old-fashioned letter to reach her - and she was hesitant to respond at first.
Most people would find a way to bring kissing Presley into any conversation, but it’s an experience Hollis — who goes by Margie — has told few about.
"It was just a personal thing for me," says Hollis, 58, who has since divorced and is engaged. "I guess that’s how special it was. It’s not something you go around bragging about."
On the big day, Hollis’ mother knew Margie would want a chance to see Presley. She was always singing along to his records.
Hollis remembers getting up at 4 a.m. to get ready. Her mother spent hours curling her hair and dressing her up in a new outfit in their Far East Dallas home.

Mother and daughter made their way to Union Station early that Tuesday morning. They stayed toward the back of the group of 30 screaming fans — Margie perched on her 5-foot-tall mother’s shoulders waiting to catch sight of Presley.
Blinking and rubbing his eyes, Elvis made his way to the back of the train car to greet the fans who loudly cheered for him.
"They just kept screaming," Hollis says of the crowd of teenage girls. "That never stopped."
As Presley started signing autograph books, some girls tried to snatch his watch and rings. He stepped back.
"Be keerful there … the other day in Nashville a girl almost pulled off the back of the train like this," Elvis said but when Presley leaned back, he spotted Margie.
"Hand her here. Hand her here," Elvise shouted across the crowd.

carried her daughter to the front. Presley hoisted Margie over the railing.
"He said, ‘Hi. Give me a kiss,’" Hollis remembers.
Howard was surprised to see her daughter go so willingly into Presley’s arms, because she didn’t ever go to strangers."Boy, she grabbed him," Howard says. "It was great. It was absolutely great."
Presley showed Margie inside the train car after joking with her mother that he was taking her to California with him.
"He didn’t set me down," Hollis recalls. "He carried me the whole time."
Once back in her mother’s arms, Margie exclaimed, "Oh, Mom, he smelled so good."
She still remembers his smell, though she can’t describe it other than to say it was a little sweet.
Howard couldn’t help falling in love with Presley, too.
"He was handsome, but there was something about him. I cannot explain it. It was his eyes," she says. "When he looked at you, you knew you were being looked at."
Hollis says she left Union Station a bigger fan than before.
"Time stopped. He was just so nice. I kissed him, and he kissed me," she says. "I did not wash my face for a long period of time."

Jordanaire Louis Nunley passed away at 81: It is with great sorrow that we have to let you know that Louis Nunley who was with The Jordanaires for several years passed away last night at the age of 81. Louis Nunley (right, next to Gordon Stoker and Ray Walker) never worked with Elvis but was a familiar face to most fans. The Jordanaires lineup consisting of Gordon Stoker, first tenor and manager, Neal Matthews, second tenor and lead, Hoyt Hawkins, baritone, and Ray Walker, bass, would be the group's most stable lineup, lasting throughout the 1960s and 1970s. The group changed again in 1982, when Hoyt Hawkins died. His replacement was Duane West, formerly of Sonny James' backup group, the Southern Gentlemen. The lineup remained constant for another two decades, with West leaving due to illness in 1999 (he died in 2002). In 1999 his replacement was baritone Louis Nunley, formerly of the Anita Kerr Singers. Neal Matthews died the next year. He was replaced by new lead Curtis Young. Hugh Jarrett died at 78 on May 31, 2008, from injuries sustained in an auto accident in March. And now Louis Nunley is gone too... R.I.P.

Elvis Presley still Third Highest Earning: While Elizabeth Taylor tops the Forbes 2012 List Of The Top-Earning Dead, it is still hard to beat Michael Jackson at this year's #2. The pop singer, who died in 2009 at the age of 50, still raked in more than any living artist in the past 12 months, $145M - but still a notable $25Mil drop from last year.
Jackson's earning are also due to the 50% stake in Sony's ATV catalog, which features artists such as The Beatles, Lady Gaga etc,
But this year that wasn’t enough to keep Jackson at the top of the list, as beating him to the No.1 spot is his old friend Elizabeth Taylor (right, with Elvis in 1957). The estate of the glamorous actress, who was 79 when she passed away last year, earned a staggering $210 million last year.
Most of that money came from the record-breaking Christie’s auctions of the star’s jewelry, costumes and art work, which brought in $184 million. Every one of the 1,800 lots sold. The most expensive item was an 1889 Van Gogh painting that went for $16 million.
Elvis Presley however still had $55 million in earnings pulling in the same amount as he did in 2011. As with Jackson, Cirque Du Soleil launched a whole show around Presley’s music in 2010, Viva Elvis, at MGM’s Aria casino in Las Vegas. But with ticket sales flagging, MGM asked Cirque to bring down the curtains at summer’s end. Luckily for Elvis, traffic was brisk at Graceland this year, making up for the lost revenue from the show.

Elizabeth Taylor won't really be in the top competition next year and Jackson's earnings will no doubt continue to drop and will eventually fall below Elvis'. Elvis left the building 35 years ago - will Michael Jackson still be in the list in 31 years time? - EIN truly has its doubts.

Elvis Presley: America’s Secret Weapon in the Cold War: The King of Rock became a one-man special force against the East Germans, even as he questioned the validity of the conflict itself.
.... Elvis was the king of rock and roll and the star of 33 Hollywood films, and he’s also America’s most famous Cold War veteran. In 1958–60, he served in Germany in a tank unit during the Berlin Crisis. The East Germans regarded Elvis as a problem they had to counter; the U.S. military regarded him as an opportunity they could exploit. Elvis mattered a lot to both sides in the Cold War. But missing from this picture: Elvis himself. We have the official PR story, but his own view is hardly known. What we do know about it is fascinating, significant, and surprising.
Elvis was drafted in March 1958, assigned to a tank division—the one formerly headed by Patton—and sent to Germany. American tanks were there—thousands of American tanks—to stop thousands of Russian tanks from pouring through the famed Fulda Gap, a flat corridor between mountain ranges at the border between East and West Germany. The mission gained intensity after November 1958, when Elvis was on maneuvers in Grafenwöhr and Khrushchev issued an ultimatum giving the U.S. six months to agree to withdraw from Berlin. Thus began the Berlin Crisis.

During those years, Elvis loomed large in official East German thinking about the Cold War. The East German leaders described him as a threat—the country’s defense minister, Willi Stoph, declared that Elvis’s rock and roll was "a means of seduction to make the youth ripe for atomic war." In April 1959, East German Communist Party leader Walter Ulbricht told a cultural conference that it was "not enough to reject the capitalist decadence with words, to ... speak out against the ecstatic ‘singing’ of someone like Presley. We have to offer something better."
What they came up with was the Lipsi. It was an officially promoted dance, offered as an alternative to Elvis’s rock and roll. Time magazine in 1959 described the Lipsi as "a sort of double-time waltz" in which "the dance steps themselves looked like a mixed-up rumba, laced with old-fashioned open steps that led to a kind of shimmying amble." What made the Lipsi preferable for East German officials was that it was a couples dance rather than what they termed an "open dance." In the Lipsi, the man led and the woman followed, while rock-and-roll dancing did not require women to follow the male lead and thus promoted more gender equality and permitted more sexual expressiveness by women on the dance floor. organization FDJ, there were signs on the dance floor stating "dancing apart is forbidden." But in spite of enormous propaganda efforts, the Lipsi didn’t replace Elvis.
Indeed, youthful protesters in East Germany chanted Elvis’s name.
Call: "Long live Elvis Presley!" Response: "Ja, ja, ja!"
Similar demonstrations by "Presley admirers" were reported in 1959 in Dresden and 13 other East German cities and towns. The Leipzig authorities cracked down in the summer and fall of 1959, sentencing 15 demonstrators to prison sentences of six months to four and a half years....

Anita Wood at Casey Jones Village: A rare appearance by one of Elvis' first steady girlfriends, Anita Wood. Wood attended a book signing at the Casey Jones Village for her daughter's new book "Once Upon a Time: Elvis and Anita."
The new book reveals poignant details of Wood's life with the king, while also taking readers back to the early days of the entertainer’s storied career. A heartfelt memoir of her life with Elvis, Wood's story provides readers with a rarely seen, very personal look at the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll. More than 100 images complete the volume, including many of Wood and Presley together.
"Elvis never wanted me to talk to the media when we were together, and I have honored his wishes most all my life," she writes in the preface of the new book. Graceland - Elvis Presley's Kingdom: The London Evening Standard recently ran an article about Elvis and visting Memphis. It stated that, "Sun, Studio B and Graceland give an insight into America, not just Elvis."
Elvis Presley personified the American Dream. He
was born in a two-room house in a Mississippi backwater and became one
of the most recognisable figures ever to have lived. He also embodied an
American nightmare: he died 35 years ago, slowed and smothered by his
own success.
But whatever you think of The King, his was an extraordinary life. Though his image has become almost a cartoon, it is still possible to find evidence of the real Elvis – and to be reminded that he was a man who mattered. The proof can be found in three buildings in Tennessee.
In 1953 Elvis cut his first record, at his own expense, at Memphis Recording Service. He was driving a delivery truck by day and studying to be an electrician by night. The studio's boss, Sam Phillips, ran a label out of the same building: Sun. Phillips was sufficiently intrigued by Elvis to pair him up with a local band and Elvis would record his first with "That's All Right" on the A-side.

In the 1950s USA, particularly in the South, most white Americans had no interest in black music. This was a time of segregation.
But the black Mississippi Delta field workers who, during the Forties and Fifties, were heading north to Chicago in great numbers, passed through Memphis on their way out of the Delta. And they had all the best tunes. Elvis Presley was in the right place, at the right time, to understand the power of the blues. After Elvis left Sun for RCA he recorded in Nashville, the epicentre of country music. This is important, because Elvis didn't just rework blues, he also borrowed from country. His first B-side was the bluegrass standard "Blue Moon of Kentucky".
The tour of Graceland is remarkably poignant. Pilgrims come expecting to be moved, but many visitors are simply curious, and of those, a good few expect Graceland to be a little on the tacky side.
It's not. This was a man's home, one he shared with his parents and his own family, and it reveals that Elvis Presley cared a great deal for all of them, and for his wider circle of friends – the so-called Memphis Mafia – to whom he was extraordinarily generous.
Elvis Presley may in the end have been a victim of his own success – and certainly nobody at Sun, RCA Studio B or Graceland has any interest in revealing the darker side of his life – but the evidence presented in these three buildings proves Elvis to have been a truly extraordinary musician, and a fascinating man.

Rolling Stone Brazil Releases Elvis Collector's Edition: Rolling Stone Brazil has recently released a new collector's edition centering around the life and legacy of Elvis Presley.
The 134-page collector's edition features photos and artifacts from the various stages of Elvis' career and is written in Portuguese. The magazine opens the story of Elvis' childhood in Tupelo, MS and continues to his landmark rise to fame with historic television and concert appearances.
Fans can see full-page photos of Elvis from his time spent in the Army to his days performing live on stage. Also included in this rare collector's edition are Graceland artifacts and featured editorials about Elvis' impact on pop culture.
Elvis fans in Brazil have been buzzing with excitement after several Elvis events in South America. Now the single 'I Love You Because' will be available for purchase digitally beginning October 16th, and the full video will be available on iTunes on October 25th. Additionally, Lisa Marie announced she will hit the road for two weeks in November in support of her new album "Storm & Grace," starting November 1 in Tunica, Miss. and ending November 17 at Carnegie Hall in New York, NY.
The video was a personal project for Lisa Marie, in which she
introduces her four children as the continuation of her father’s legacy.

Lisa Marie, 'I wish Elvis had lived to see my children': Lisa Marie was only 9 years old when her dad died in 1977.
Lisa Marie, who has children Danielle, Benjamin, Harper and Finley, said that she makes sure they know everything about the Rock 'N' Roll legend and his incredible career.
The 44-year-old said, "I was like anybody else - fearless as a child and experimental as a teenager - but I had an angel looking over me, and music. I wasn't really paraded around as a child. Mum protected me really well when I was young.
It hit home when I turned 42 as that was the age when my father died, and his mum too. I have moments when I wish he had lived to see my children, of course I do.
And I speak to my little ones about him. I tell them who he was and we love his music."
Lisa Marie also accepted that her father's music and iconic status has cast a shadow over her own singing career
"I just had to find my own way with it," said Lisa Marie, who released new album Storm & Grace this year. "I don't feel I have to prove anything anymore. I was comfortable and it felt natural.
"I am a singer-songwriter and that's what I do. And my dad was a singer. I guess it would be a lot easier on me if my father had been a builder or a painter or a plumber."

the prospect of her mother, Priscilla, playing the Wicked Queen in pantomime - even though she's not really sure what a pantomime is.
"She was trying to describe it to me, so I think I have an idea. But the kids will be excited to see her [and] I get to spend Christmas with her."
And, after 44 years under the media microscope, she has found the British public to be strangely supportive.

'I Love You Because' Lisa/Elvis Duet to be released: Lisa Marie Presley will world premiere her new video 'I Love You Because' an emotional duet with her late father Elvis on CMT and CMT.com on Thursday, October 18th during the 8am - 10am ET music hours. At the suggestion of renowned producer T-Bone Burnett, Lisa recorded the Elvis song in August for the 35th anniversary of her father’s passing. The video was only intended to be viewed by some 25,000 fans in attendance at the 35th Anniversary Concert at the FedEX Forum in Memphis, but following a warm reception by fans, Presley agreed to share the video with CMT.

'Walk A Mile In My Shoes' new book close to Sold Out!: Author of the new book 'Walk A Mile In My Shoes' Arjan Deelen made a special public appearance in Holland last Sunday. The presentation was handled by Arjan Deelen and publisher and fanclub president Constatijn Zantingh (right of photo) who told the crowd that the first edition is now essentially sold out and that they are now contemplating a second edition.
Key players from the Dutch Elvis scene were there including Robert Frieser and Richard Schraa of FTD - some cool unreleased Elvis recordings were featured as special treats for the audience.
Others present were Audio engineer Ray Bouwman, 'Almost In Elvis' magazine editor Dennis van Tiel, and longtime collector Luuk Bonthond.
The feedback about the new book was overwhelmingly positive - with only a few left in stock left to buy.

Elvis Presley, Al Green among first at Memphis Music Hall of Fame: Bluff City icons W.C. Handy, Elvis Presley, B.B. King, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Al Green, were among the names announced as part of the first class of inductees to the new Memphis Music Hall of Fame on Tuesday.
The initiative, part of the Smithsonian-connected Rock 'n' Soul Museum, was launched with an event at downtown's The Warehouse. City of Memphis mayor AC Wharton, U.S. Rep. Steve Cohen, D-Tenn.; Rock 'n' Soul executive director John Doyle, and Memphis Convention President Kevin Kane, as well as various local music notables, were on hand to confirm the first class of 25 inductees, who will be honored with a ceremony on Nov. 29 at The Cannon Center for the Performing Arts. The event will be open to the public.
Others set to be honored as part of the 2012 class include R&B great Bobby "Blue" Bland, blues singers Howlin' Wolf and Memphis Minnie, big band leader Jimmie Lunceford, and producer Jim Dickinson.
The Rock 'n' Soul museum will administer, fund, and house the Hall of Fame, which has been six years in the making.

Memphis' significant labels are well represented among the first class with Sun Records (Sam Phillips, Presley, Lewis), Stax Records (founders Estelle Axton and Jim Stewart, Rufus Thomas, Booker T. & the MGs, Isaac Hayes) and Hi Records (Green, producer Willie Mitchell) all getting multiple nods.
The list of names reaches beyond rock and R&B, with pioneers from the world of radio, including deejays Dewey Phillips and Nat D. Williams will also be honored, as well as music educators.
The inductees were chosen earlier this year by the Hall of Fame's nominating committee, which includes a cross section of music industry professionals, cultural historians and authors, and museum and foundation directors. Hall of Fame officials say that the first year inductees are simply a start.

Marty Lacker - Anita Wood was absolutely great for Elvis because she exhibited a real love for him and understood him very much back then. Fact is Anita was a lot like Elvis' mother in that regard. She is basically and fundamentally a good and friendly person who also got along greatly with those of us in the Memphis Mafia and was not threatened by us always being there.
I strongly believe that if Elvis had married Anita his life would have been much better and more enjoyable for him as well as her and would have turned out to be very different with him possibly not dying at such an early age. She would have nurtured him in a very good way which is something Priscilla seemed not capable of doing.
Anita was is in the top two of girls that Elvis was with as far as most of us guys are concerned and that opinion of course is based on our close, first hand observations.

New French Canadian CD & Competition: "Dans les Souliers d'Elvis" - "In The Shoes of Elvis" is both an album, a competition and a series of performances. Gathering first Québec artists who return to The King's songs, the project is also aimed at people who think they are the best interpreters of Elvis songs.

Elvis' Hillcrest home for sale for $13M: Want to live in Elvis' 1174 Hillcrest, Beverly Hills home where he lived from 1967 to 1970? The Beverly Hills home is up for sale for $12.9 million. Like Elvis' home in Memphis, Elvis fans in L.A have for years flocked to visit the property. According to the listing, the four bedroom, five bathroom French Regency estate sits on a 1.18 acre promontory with views of the city of Los Angeles and the ocean.
According to EPE, the couple first rented the house before they bought it in 1967. It was sold on Aug. 31, 1973, for $450,000. The couple's divorce was finalized later that year.
The gated home located in the Trousdale Estates has recently has been remodeled. It has a new kitchen and laundry room, and the pool and spa have been resurfaced.
The home also has a formal living room with a fireplace, a media room and a private master suite with a large bathroom. It has floor-to-ceiling windows and walls of glass in every room.

Elvis Film producer Douglas Laurence Dies At 93: Douglas Laurence, a onetime director of entertainment at the famed Flamingo Hotel hotspot in Las Vegas who produced Speedway and two other Elvis Presley films, has died. He was 93. Laurence, who also produced Judy Garland’s first album for Capitol Records in 1955, lived in San Rafael, Calif., and died Oct. 2 from complications following surgery, his daughter Valentina Pfeil said Friday.
In addition to 'Speedway' (photo right with Nancy Sinatra), which showcased Presley as a stock car driver beset with tax problems, Laurence produced 'Stay Away, Joe' and 'Live a Little, Love a Little' all played in theaters in 1968.
On the set of Speedway, Presley announced that his wife Priscilla was pregnant with daughter Lisa Marie. And Live a Little, Love a Little was notable in that it was the last of some 100 features directed by Oscar winner and frequent Elvis collaborator Norman Taurog.
Pfeil tells The Hollywood Reporter that her father often remarked that he found Presley “surprisingly polite and humble, given his phenomenal success and fame." During one hiatus between movies, Elvis visited the Laurence home and played their piano, which the family still owns.
“We can't bring ourselves to sell or give it away,” she said.
Laurence’s film résumé also includes Doctor, You've Got to Be Kidding! (1967), a comedy starring Sandra Dee, George Hamilton and Celeste Holm. All the films he produced were at MGM.

Arizona Paranormal Investigations looking for Elvis' Ghost!: Did Elvis Presley sleep at Mesa's Buckhorn Mineral Baths? And does his ghost haunt the premises of the 15-acre roadside landmark at the northeast corner of East Main Street and Recker Road?
History buffs from the Mesa Historical Museum are all shook up about the possibility the King of Rock 'n' Roll stayed there during the filming of a scene of his 1960 movie Flaming Star – and that maybe, his ghost is now frequenting the premises.
In addition to possibly staying at the Buckhorn, perhaps Elvis came there to see Tom Diskin, an old friend, who was the right-hand man of Elvis' manager, Col. Tom Parker, and used to book Elvis' appearances and photograph him for many years throughout the 1950s and into the early ’70s.
Rumblings of an Elvis connection were recently uncovered at the Buckhorn, a property on the National Register of Historic Landmarks once owned by Ted and Alice Sliger from 1939 to 1999, the year it closed.
The possibility of Elvis haunting the building, perhaps seeking a guitar he left there or a jacket he performed in, has lifted the spirits of at least one history buff.
“Elvis has left the building, or is maybe haunting the building?” mused Ron Peters, a member of the Mesa Preservation Foundation who knew Alice Sliger for 16 years. “I had never heard of anything like Elvis staying there, but that doesn't mean it didn't happen. But Alice never mentioned it if he did.”

In order to see if any apparitions of Elvis or other spirit crooners are hanging out at the Buckhorn, for the first time, Arizona Paranormal Investigations will conduct a search of the Buckhorn buildings Oct. 20. The public is invited to attend the event which is a fundraiser for the Mesa Historical Museum benefiting the Buckhorn's restoration efforts.
While sifting through some of the boxes of items stored inside the lodging cabins at the Buckhorn, historical preservationists recently discovered items left behind from a man named Tom Diskin, who co-owned Jamboree Productions, a Memphis, Tenn.-based publishing company with Parker, who was Elvis' manager for many years. Among the items, boxes of photographs, a typewriter that Diskin borrowed from the Mesa Tribune. Diskin, who died in 1998, is seen in many photos with Presley and that may be why Diskin left some of his belongings behind at the Buckhorn the year before it closed.
But when was Elvis there exactly?
“We don't know exactly when he stayed there, but we're trying to find out,” said Lisa Anderson, executive director of the Mesa Historical Museum. “But there's evidence that Elvis likely stayed here at some point; we're just trying to find out exactly when."

New Interactive Tupelo Exhibit Now at Graceland: A new exhibit at Graceland looks at the birthplace of the King of Rock 'n' Roll. The Tupelo CVB and EPE have teamed up to give Elvis fans an interactive look at the rural Mississippi town where Elvis attended school, performed for the first time, and bought his first guitar.
Fans now have the opportunity to explore the city that Elvis first called home. Elvis' Tupelo combines photos, video, and memorabilia in an interactive experience for fans to enjoy. Fans can see archival footage of Elvis' 1956 Tupelo Homecoming and scroll through childhood photos, rare artifacts and more. Fans also have access to some of the Presley family's clothing, personal photos, receipts, plus concert memorabilia and more.
Elvis' Tupelo is now open to the public and is available to visitors at Graceland.

Elvis and 92-year-old's secret to life: It won't surprise friends to hear that Virginia Cohon still walks nearly a mile most days, escorting her two dogs
to the ocean near her Pebble Beach home. At 92, she's just four years past the day she won third-place trophy at the Senior Tennis
Championships in La Jolla. She quit playing tennis when she was 88!
Cohon was born May 1, 1920, in San Francisco. She marvels today at the good fortune she has enjoyed through most of her life. She stopped dancing when
motherhood became a priority, but stumbled into a job as an assistant producer for a San Francisco-based TV show called "Dotty Hansen's Hi-Time,"
a local version of the wildly popular national program "American Bandstand." The show aired from 1953-55.
Dotty Hansen had a regular column in the San Francisco Call-Bulletin that seized on the popularity of the TV show by spotlighting local teenagers who
were doing good things in the community.
On display in Cohon's living room is a framed photo of the young newspaper columnist with Elvis Presley, who posed with her
while he was in town for a concert.
"One of the musicians playing in the orchestra was a person I knew, and he offered to snap a photo of Elvis and me," she says. "I wasn't a big fan at the time, but Elvis was a great guy - very nice, very obliging. And that photo ran in the newspaper, which, of course, helped my column."

| Lisa-Marie Presley "live" at Bush Hall in London (Concert Review): Lisa-Marie Presley's performance at Bush Hall offered sweet and soulful blues-pop that owed nothing to her father Elvis

In the way of background research, I questioned two men in the Bush Hall gentlemen’s loos. “Are you here because of Lisa-Marie Presley herself, or because she’s Elvis’s daughter?”
“She’s good as well,” replied the first.
“Yeah, I came to see Elvis’s daughter, but she’s really good,” said the second. |

If anybody else had made Lisa-Marie’s recent Storm And Grace album, a relaxed, tuneful set of rootsy, swampy blues-pop produced by T Bone Burnett, it would have been an album of the year contender rather than overshadowed by what her dad got up to 50 years ago.
She must be used to it by now. After her band had taken the stage to the voodoo rattle of the old prison work song Early in the Morning, dressed like scarecrow undertakers in toppers and bowlers, she walked on to cheers, a petite presence in black. She said she had a cold, but agreed with a heckler that this was one of the joys of England.
Her set then kicked off with Weary, an appealingly maudlin country-tinged slowie she wrote with Richard Hawley. Another co-writer, Ed Harcourt, joined her to duet on the steel guitar-tinted heartbreaker Soften The Blows.
With the exception of the encores, her set drew exclusively from the new album, perhaps marking a separation from her previous slightly directionless forays into music. Songs such as Un-break and You Ain’t Seen Nothin’ Yet have a drawl, twang and sass that should give the too pristine Lana Del Rey pause for thought. Presley’s husband, Michael Lockwood, a gangling figure at her left, added raunch on lead guitar throughout.
When the band returned for an encore, they were clearly elated by the response of the crowd, and gave the debut single, Lights Out, a suitably raucous pummelling. After this, a roadie provided waiter service, giving them all a shot of tequila without which Lisa-Marie explained, they would not be able to complete their final song, a galloping cover of Tom Petty’s Need to Know.
From a financial perspective, Lisa-Marie Presley clearly never needed to write or perform a single song in her life, but it’s clear she has a genuine hankering to do so. What’s more, judging from this hour-long gig, it would be a real shame if she didn’t do more of it. (Source: Thomas H Green , The Telegraph UK, 5 Oct 2012)

'Blue Moon of Kentucky' Color Video: Sadly this is a fake audio track assembled from the 'Blue Moon of Kentucky' genuine "slow-version" studio outake, which only lasts one minute. But by adding more Elvis rhythm guitar and soundalike Bill Black bass & Scotty Moore guitar this does make a very sweet 2 minute track, even if fake. The footage features various Elvis colour footage and home-movies from the fifties.
It's cute and really worth a look.

'Prince From Another Planet' Sound Samples: SONY Legacy have posted three sound samples from the newly remixed Afternoon concert which will be released in November. Fan reaction so far has been varied.
They seem to have cranked up the audience ambience more (not necessarily a good thing) and added more reverb on Elvis' vocal. James Burton's guitar sounds clearer as well as the bass. There is however not a huge variation in the mix - but then again 'Afternoon' was one of audio engineer Dennis Ferrante's best audio mixes efforts and pissed over the dull, rushed original Evening show release.
We will have to await for the CD release to truly compare - and the Evening MSG concert remix will be the one that really counts. Go here to check them out >>

Sony's marketing of Elvis: EIN doesn't often publish comments we receive about our news items but this email from Donn Cooper in the US about EIN's comment about Sony's marketing of recent Elvis releases highlights an important issue. Donn commented..
I believe it's a case of too many ELVIS releases competing with one another. Every year Sony/BMG adds to the list of ELVIS titles available. While that strategy makes both E.P.E. and Sony a lot of money it has cost ELVIS the top spot on the charts time and time again. Even with the numerous releases by Sony, ELVIS will eventually top the charts again but it could be another 29 years before it happens as was the case with "ELVIS:30 Number One Hits" (ELVIS' 10th number one album).
Sony needs to rethink it's strategy in promoting the ELVIS catalog if they ever expect him to top the charts again. Then again, maybe Sony like RCA before them is happy with the way things are. They make a lot of money off of ELVIS but at what cost? For years, ELVIS was the solo artist with the most number one albums on the Billboard Top 200. In the last year or two that has changed. |

Rapper, Jay-Z has come from behind and charted 12 number one albums (counting the three or four colaborative albums he released with other artists) and Bruce Springsteen has tied "THE KING" for 3rd place on the list. The Beatles are still number one with 19 number one albums. Earlier this year Madonna took over the top spot in the U.K. with a little chicanery. It looks to me that Sony/BMG would want to honor a man who has made them more money than any other artist by making sure ELVIS' catalog is given the proper respect. Then again, record labels have always cared more about money than a artist's legacy.
That's a shame because if they did what they should reducing the ELVIS catalog and promoting the one big release they could still make huge money and garner more number ones for ELVIS. Sadly, Sony isn't likely to do that as long as the status quo continues to make them money.

'Stronger than Pride' New Import VINYL/CD: The first release of the new label "VV", after 40 years... if we look closely at the first Vegas act of 1972, in spite his personal problems or thanks to these we can see that Elvis concentrates on the music to produce great shows. The in-between song chat and banter have gone and each number is delivered promptly without even a pause for applause. The 'NEW' songs introduced do reflect the mood of the man and for sure the rocking days are over but the rendition of the early seventies repertoire is solid and sung with great ability. Welsh Elvis Festival 2012 bigger Than Ever: Every September thousands of Elvis fans descend on the seaside town of Porthcawl in Wales, UK for a unique celebration of the singer. This year’s festival proved to be the most successful yet according to organisers with more than 30,000 fans and impersonators of “The King” turning up. It provided a welcome boost for the resort where trade has been badly hit by the poor summer weather.

said they had topped that number at the weekend with 814 Elvises, a figure verified by council staff.
The festival was first staged nine years ago and has steadily grown in popularity and fame around the world.
It featured a fringe festival in and around the town and more than 100 shows including Elvis tribute artist concert.
Saturday's record bid was led by Darren “Graceland” Jones, 40, from Cwmbran, who recently beat 13 contenders to be named best Elvis impersonator in Wales.
Mr Phillips said he was “overwhelmed and thrilled” to break the record for the biggest gathering of Elvises

Another Elvis Mosaic for Aloha: Almost forty years ago Elvis made history in the record-breaking Aloha concert. Now following on from the 'I Am An Elvis Fan' concept Fan Mosaics and EPE are again giving fans the chance to make Elvis history by participating in the "Aloha from Hawaii" Elvis Fan Mosaic.
Featuring an image of the iconic singer and actor, this officially licensed photo mosaic will be built entirely from fan-submitted photos. The new mosaic will be part of a week-long celebration of the concert’s anniversary being held in Hawaii January 10 – January 15, 2013.

'Homesick' Elvis letter in Auction: A letter Elvis wrote from Germany just after his mother Gladys died emerges for sale 54 years on. The King's note from 1958 will be auctioned in Spain this week. "I just want to tell you that I miss and love you all very much", Elvis wrote.
He had just lost his mother and was living thousands of miles from home in a foreign country.
So it’s fair to say that Elvis was feeling genuinely lonesome the night he wrote an emotional letter to his friends.
Aged 23 and doing his national service in Germany, he sent the rare note home in 1958 telling them how homesick he was and how much he missed his mother Gladys who had died three months earlier.
He also spoke of his frustration at having to postpone his burgeoning singing career for the two years he spent in the US military.
The two-page handwritten letter was addressed to a 15-year-old girl called Frances Forbes, but was meant for a whole group of friends back home in Memphis, Tennessee. |

It has been with a private collector from Hertfordshire for many years, but has now come up for sale.
The letter reveals Elvis' vulnerable and tender side. We have had a lot of interest in it and we expect it to go for more than the pre-sale estimate of $6,000.
Elvis' letter includes, "Well I don’t know what ever made me decide to write a letter but I guess it’s because I am so homesick and lonely. I just want to tell you that I miss and love you all very much and I am just counting the hours until I can return and we will all be together again.... I guess I miss mother more over here than anything because I am just now realizing that she won’t ever be here anymore."

Help VOTE Elvis into the American Pop Music Hall of Fame: Elvis fans can now vote for the King of Rock 'n' Roll to be included in the first hall of fame dedicated to pop icons. As EIN noted earlier, the American Pop Music Hall of Fame selected Elvis as a nominee to be inducted into the new display honoring pop greats. Elvis is among the top 40 nominees which includes other musical legends such as The Beatles and Frank Sinatra.
The Hall of Fame will announce the top 20 inductees in May and they will be formally inducted on July 2, 2013. Eligible artists must have lodged a national hit between 1946 and 1975.

Rapper Little Wayne beats Elvis - EIN thinks NOT! Recent publicity supposes that US Rapper Little Wayne has become the new King of the US Billboard Hot 100 singles chart with a total of 109 songs.
Wayne, recently turned 30, supposedly surpassed Presley's count of 108 entries in the Hot 100 singles chart between 1958 and 2003 as a collaborator on rapper Game's latest track "Celebration". That track also features Chris Brown and Tyga, entering the chart at No. 82 last week.
However times have changed, diminishing Elvis' achievements..
1. Billboard now counts digital downloads as "Singles". In the 1950s or 1960s a '45RPM' single cost about 4 times more than a download today - and was something you saved for.
2. Elvis singles sold millions and stayed in the charts for weeks. Having to wait for delivery to Record Stores meant there was very little "chart-movement" unlike now. You had to wait months between single releases.
3. Around half of Little Wayne's releases are duets/collaborations - not as a solo artist.
Billboard needs to move to newly named Chart for the new millennium. Of course Lil Wayne is highly unlikely to be still lauded (and touring!) 35 years after his death!

Lisa Marie's new UK Country Life: Lisa Marie Presley is discovering new countryside interests. The 44-year-old daughter of Elvis Presley lives on a 90-acre estate in West Sussex in the south of England with her husband Michael Lockwood and their three-year-old twin daughters Harper and Finley. She recently bought a flock of sheep and is enjoying looking after them. She has also been selling fish and chips from the back of a van in the sleepy English village.
Her secret fish-and-chip gig delighted her friends, Kim and Justin Scales, who run the business. "Lisa Marie likes to see how we live and experience it. We were laughing because the customers didn't know it was her. She really enjoyed it. It was the funniest thing. We all did this run and no one knew who she was."
In an interview this week, Lisa Marie said she preferred her English neighbours over "self-absorbed" Californians.
She said: "I lived in the same neighborhood for 17 years, and I didn't even know a neighbor. When I moved here, I was getting notes and flowers. That's what I love about it. It's simple, it's not flash, it was a quality of life I needed." |

When she is not touring or at home looking after twins Harper and Finley, 3, she often visits her friends’ pub to have a pint.
"Her rich neighbors are confused that she wants to come to the pub," said Kim Scales. "When she is in the pub people treat her normally. It's not a big deal, everyone has got used to her. She's really friendly."

The Wicked Queen has arrived! Priscilla Presley shows off her costume as she gears up for her first ever panto role in Snow White. The ex-wife of Elvis will star as the Wicked Queen in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs at the New Wimbledon Theatre later this year, and new pictures show Priscilla looks positively evil in her costume.
The dress is quite revealing for the 67-year-old, as she makes use of the big split in the front of her red dress to stick out one of her toned legs.
The actress will star next to Warwick Davis and Jarred Christmas in the show that starts its run on December 7.

'The Rebel & The King' Book Update: Everybody’s support and interest is helping The Rebel & The King find its way home to fans who are loving the book. I get letters everyday thanking me for sharing my Dad’s manuscript with the world, not to mention all the new friends and connections that bloom each day.
Roy Turner summed it up when he originally named the new video “Footprints on my heart with Nick and Elvis.” Its now titled “Walking in Memphis with The Rebel and the King, Elvis and Nick,” Roy did a beautiful job with his own Elvis archives and additional photos and footage. Never before photos of Elvis and Nick tell the story of the Tupelo Homecoming in 1956, as I follow along with the book discovering Elvis’ upbringing and spiritual legacy.
56 Years ago in 1956, on September 26, Elvis had his homecoming in Tupelo and Daddy was there to ride the wave of that momentous day.

Priscilla "I'll never find another Elvis": Priscilla Presley doesn't think she'll ever find another man she loved as much as Elvis. The 67-year-old actress who was married to the Elvis for just six years before they divorced, finds it 'pointless' to compare him to other guys because nobody will ever be able to better the person that Elvis was nor his amazing aura.
She said: 'I don't think I'll ever find anyone I'll love as much as I loved Elvis. It's pointless trying to compare him to anyone. 'Yes, some men I've been with have mattered to me, but Elvis was my first love, he'll be my last.'
Priscilla admits that she and Lisa Marie, 44, have both had trouble finding men over the years because they still live in 'the shadow of Elvis'.
She explained: 'Lisa Marie first got married at 20, and became pregnant at 21 - almost the same age as me. We had a long talk about it, but then she did exactly what she wanted to do. Just like her father!
'Sadly, that marriage didn't work out and I have to admit we've both had problems with men over the years. We've both made some bad choices. And maybe it's because we both still live with the shadow of Elvis.
'What I mean is, any man who comes into our lives has to understand that

Priscilla refers to Lisa - who has three-year-old twin daughters, Harper and Finley, with husband Michael Lockwood - as her 'best friend' nowadays but she didn't get on well with her daughter when the she split with Elvis as while she was trying to enforce some rules in the youngster's life, he would let her do 'whatever she wanted to', and Priscilla was 'fearful' that Lisa was getting mixed up in drugs.
"I knew she was getting in with the wrong crowd. Drugs were prevalent. Underage drinking.

The 40TH Anniversary of 'ALOHA FROM HAWAI': EPE is ramping up the advertising for the 'Aloha From Hawaii' 40th Anniversary celebrations, January 10 – January 15, 2013 in Hawaii.
So far featured announced guests include former members of J.D. Sumner and The Stamps Quartet Donnie Sumner, Larry Strickland, Ed Hill, Bill Baize plus Joe Guercio. Hawaiian radio DJ Tom Moffatt, Ginny Tiu (Elvis' young co-star in 'Girls!Girls!Girls!') plus co-star Jan Shepard. There will also be concert performances from Andy Childs, Terry Mike Jeffrey, Jamie Aaron Kelley, former Members of J.D. Sumner and The Stamps Quartet and more.
And of course the 'Aloha From Hawaii' 40th Anniversary Enhanced Screening at the original HIC centre.

October & December FTD Release News: There will be three new FTD releases in October, two "Classic Albums" and one vinyl release.
1. The major release is 'From Elvis Presley Boulevard' as a Classic Album.
Featuring a large number of officially unreleased Jungle Room outtakes, it comes with the usual 12-page booklet featuring Behind The Scenes and memorabilia.
'From Elvis Presley Boulevard' was first released in April 1976 but only reached #41 in the US album charts. Originally it only featured 10 tracks, recorded at Elvis' Graceland home among them 'Hurt', 'Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain', 'For The Heart' and 'Solitaire'.

2. The 1974 UK album 'Hits Of The 70's' is also released as a "Classic Album" double 7" release.
The original 12 track album included many songs that had only been available in the UK as singles ('I'm Leavin'', 'Rags To Riches', 'I've Lost You' etc) and was a firm favourite with English fans. Maybe this rather odd choice for release is because FTD's Roger Semon is English and has fond memories of this album. At the time it featured no hits later than 1972 due to the dodgy RCA buy-out deal in 1973. Now FTD release their expanded version with 24 Elvis 1970's single A & B sides plus the bonus track 'My Way' (which was released after Elvis' death). For once the album does not feature any outtakes or unreleased material.
It comes with a 12-page booklet featuring the UK and US single sleeves plus chart information and historic release notes.

Elvis girlfriend Sheila Ryan Dies: Elvis' seventies girlfriend Sheila Ryan Caan died this week, aged only 59, after a struggle with cancer. After going out with Elvis in the mid-seventies she then married actor James Caan, their son is Hawaii 5-O actor Scott Caan.
Sheila Ryan met Elvis in February 1974 after Joe Esposito spotted her in the Las Vegas audience. Ryan told an interviewer that when Elvis emerged from his dressing roam, their eyes met and she knew, instantly, that they would he spending a lot of time together.
In one of those perfect "ELVIS MOMENTS" Sheila Ryan was with Elvis during his RCA L.A. March 1975 recording session. As he recorded the beautiful 'And I Love You So' Elvis says, "Step here Sheila and let me sing to you baby". This delicious non-overdubbed Take 1 is available on the 'Today' FTD release.
In the past Sheila Ryan has talked about her time with Elvis...
"Elvis had qualities that no other human being has, had, will have. Some of them are so hard to describe because the charisma, the qualities that he had were almost not of this world, you know. They were, a lot of times, angelic. He knew things before I knew things. He knew things that I was feeling before I was feeling them.
He was very much a little boy, had that little boy quality and I've often said, you know, before I met him, he had that smile and everyone interpreted that

smile to be his sexy look. And it wasn't that at all. It wasn't a sexy look. It was his innocence, his vulnerability. It wasn't at all something that he turned on and off. It was just, you know, just vulnerable.
I don't think that there's another person who had a more tender heart. The biggest joy that Elvis had was in giving and I didn't really understand it that much at the time. But it was what brought most joy to him was to give.
The thing that meant the most to me in my relationship with Elvis was that it was different than relationships that he had had with other women in that I wasn't the nagging, jealous, I didn't try to change him. I mean, I didn't expect him to be monogamous. When he would go away, I knew that he was gonna be with another woman and when he would come back he would tell me about what happened. And so what was most different about my relationship with him is that he didn't have to explain. He didn't have to be afraid."
