I had this thing bursting inside of me that I thought the song should say, that kind of hopeful song like "You'll Never Walk Alone."
Finally I went home one night thinking this is never gonna happen with these guys. I'm not putting them down at all. But I thought that if I'm gonna write a song I'm gonna write it myself. I remember thinking that they probably wouldn't use it anyway. "A Change Is Gonna Come" by Sam Cooke was the kind of song I wanted to write.
