Elvis
fans meet his first love

An
audience with June Juanico is one of the last stops
for these British fans' Southern tour of all things
Elvis.
"You
kinda have to pinch yourself when you meet people associated
with Elvis," says London resident Chris Lehane.
"Even
walking around Graceland you think, I can't believe
these people really knew Elvis, when you think what
a huge person he was and entertainer he was."
"He's
number one in the UK at the moment with Jailhouse Rock,"
says Northern Ireland native David Hawthorne. But June
knew him before Graceland and super stardom. She knew
Elvis as a 20-year-old rock and roll singer who liked
to vacation on the coast.

"They
decided they wanted to come to Biloxi because they had heard
about a girlfriend that Elvis had in Biloxi and him staying
here at Gulf Hills Resort," says June.
"This
was his playground during the summer of 1955." It was that
summer that Elvis met 17-year-old June at a concert at Keesler
Air Force Base and asked her to show him around her hometown.
"That
morning lasted until 6am," says June. "We exchanged a lot
of words and conversation and kisses. That's the first time
I ever kissed on a first date." That first date blossomed
into a nearly two year long courtship between the future king
and his coastal queen. It's a love story June chronicled in
a book and enjoys sharing with his fans.
"The
two questions that are asked the most from different fans
was 'Is Elvis a good kisser?'," says June. "And my answer
is 'yes.'
And
then they said, 'Was he good in bed?' and I said, 'He was
a perfect gentleman. And that's all I have to say about that.'"
