El Gamble "The Elvis Voice" (recognised 2006 by the TCB Band - Elvis's original Band as one of the closest voices that they have ever heard) from Scoresby Victoria, Australia's first Elvis Tribute Artist in 1977. Made his return to the Elvis Tribute Arena on request of the Parkes Elvis Committee in August 2007. El's biggest critic and biggest fan said "If I had not seen it, I would not have believed it" the man now on crutches (Nerves gone below his Knees) brought his most critical audience to it's knees, the audiences that believed that all Elvis Tribute Artists should do all the moves. El's vocal tribute was the best that they have ever heard. "If you closed your eye's, you honestly thought that Elvis himself was entertaining us" many of the audiences said.
El was invited back to sing last week in the Elvis Festival in Parkes NSW (the third largest Elvis Festival in the world. Three concerts including one outdoor to approx 6000 elvis fans, applause roared as El gave the concert of his life in 45 minutes on the Sunday.
On arrival back in Melbourne the phone has not stopped, one gentleman from W.A stating that El was 2 ozone layers above all other ETA's. Another call from a lady out from Canada, said that her husband was on the Collingwood Elvis Festival's Committee (Canada - 2nd largest Elvis Festival) and he was going to introduce El to that Committee when they get back.
Well done El, you have deserved it after all the years of being one of the greatest Rock "N" Roll Singers in Australia.
1977 - 2 weeks after Elvis's Death, Phil Gollotta (Blue Echoes) staged El in the biggest Elvis show ever seen in this country. El performed his show 286 times in a space of 12 month's and 2 weeks, to packed houses throughout the Eastern States. For his contribution, he was the receiver of the first "E" Awards (Elvis Appreciation Awards).
He hung up his jumpsuits swearing he would never return to the Elvis Tribute Arena. He went on and joined some of Australia's top bands, i,e Fat Chance & The Queensland Cadillacs to name two and before returning was "The Fifties Sixties Revival" a very successful Melbourne Duo with the lovely Marcia Rae.
