Hi
everyone,
When
we received "Elvis World #73" from our good friend Bill Burk
it was with mixed emotions - on one hand there was good news
on the other hand there was sad news. The good news was that
"Elvis World" was starting its 19th year of publication -
the sad news was that we there were more deaths in the Elvis
World.
Among
those who passed on was Peter Butler - we only knew Peter
slightly - we didn't know him well as a person but my gosh
I knew his writings. Whether it was an in-depth article about
Elvis, a funny story about his wife and family or the latest
news about soccer we would just eat his words up.
We
wont say goodbye to Peter - we will just say "See you later
mate." - to Peter's family we send our love and understanding.
Bill did a terrific job with the photos in this issue - there
are some great shots from 1954 - it is hard to believe that
was 50 years ago! There is a great short piece about Vernon
love of slaughtering pigs and making his homemade sausage
and bacon - even while living in Graceland - he was still
a Southern country boy at heart until the end (-: There are
truly some great articles about folk's memories of the fifties
contributed by Barbara Mallory and Dolores Tolbert - thanks
ladies.
