You
win some.
You
lose some.
And
in some, you get rained out.
(EIN
note: Bill's opening quote is taken from a great recording
by the late Jimmy "Orion" Ellis, "Some
You Win, Some You Lose")

LOST:
The photo of Elvis and Priscilla being given a helicopter
ride over the Circle G Ranch shortly after Elvis bought it.
After 2 days of searching, the man with the photo says he
cannot find it.
FOUND:
Funny how here and there news of a photo you don't even know
exists pops up. Like today at lunch. A stranger (to me) was
with us and late into the lunch I told him I was doing CANDLE
and searching, still, for rare photos. And he told me of a
photo he knows of, right here in the area, where Elvis, visiting
a friend, hopped on the friend's riding lawnmower and was
cutting friend's grass when the wife snapped the photo. I
gave this dude my card and told him I expected a call by tonight
... OR ... his kneecaps !
FOUND:
Photo of Elvis performing in 1955 at Belden, Miss., now a
part of Tupelo.
STILL
MISSING: Photo of Elvis sitting on female Santa Claus'
lap night of 24 December 1954. Being told now it might be
"next year" before the dude will even look for this pix. Damn
!!
LATER
TODAY: Interviewing the March of Dimes poster girl on
her visit to Elvis and she said she would bring photos along.
STILL
IFFY: 12 photos of E and daughter of a MEM restaurant
owner.
NEED
to locate her by tonight since she is coming home for Thanksgiving;
leaving tomorrow. PLAN OF ATTACK is that on Friday, after
Thanksgiving is outta the way, to attack CANDLE with all energies
until done .. .. .. and IF . . . new, rare photos turn up,
they will just be included in a photo page without story.
APPRECIATE the strong show of support from those of you who
have already sent in your pre-publication check for CANDLE.
Repeating,
pre-publication price for CANDLE is $40 (+ shipping) ... checks
or money order only. Must be postmarked not later than 31
December 2004. Send to: BURK ENTERPRISES Box 16792 Memphis
TN 38186 ======
TALKED
LONG with Ernst Jorgensen today. It's official now. SONY
owns BMG. In big corporate meeting now taking place in Los
Angeles, Sony has committed to continuing both the Elvis and
FTD catalogs of Elvis music. Many heads have rolled in the
buyout, but Ernst and Roger Semon are still on the payroll
to produce the Elvis products. =======
